All you had to mention was Lifetime and I bail. LIfetime -- the cheap-plastic movie channel -- is actually painful to watch. Give me chinese water torture instead. More merciful.

Gary Who? Those few who may have heard of him really know nothing about him as you yourself demonstrate. I think if a third party candidate is to have a noticeable effect on the election outcome then he has to be noticed. Gary Johnson has not met that threshold. Ross Perot bought his way into that election with TV infomercials. His legacy is getting Clinton elected and yelling about the CIA fucking up his daughter's wedding. Nader is a perennial gadfly that has been around from the Stone Age. He is known by all old liberals from his early good work and later as a gadfly. His lasting legacy is getting Bush II elected. Gary Who? His legacy will be a footnote to the 2012 election cycle -- unless his rich uncle funds a multimillion dollar Super PAC for him. Does he have a rich uncle?

I suppose I could if I rummaged around cyberspace. Instead I recall the numerous interviews conducted by the news media when the Tea Party broke the surface. They were having none of Obama or Bush, time after time after time. If you recall the TP spokespersons and rank and file embracing Bush and his policies then you might offer up some articles to that effect.

I see. It tells me that I need to put my hip boots on.

Romney has turned out to be a pathetic candidate. He really is just an empty suit when it comes to vision and principle. The only thing he has suited for a president is 'burning ambition'. His handlers have given him America The Beautiful verses to focus his comments at campaign stops. What a joke!! Have you seen these stops. They have forbidden him any more ad-libs like those that produced 'corporations are people too and incessant flip-flopping from one stop to another as he tries to field questions and be all things to all people. His brain's speech center is connected to his memory and thought centers only loosely. There is no discipline or organization by principles and history record. He reels knee-jerkingly among facts and talking points -- old defunct as well as new rehearsed talking points in a mish-mash causing embarassing follow-up questions to clear up the confusion. I really cannot see how the right wing conservatives can support him, now or later. Gingerich made one really penetrating point about Romney when he asked what one conservative accomplishment has Romney ever implemented in his political life. He talks big but has no record can back it up. These Tea Party wackos are going to vote for him??? If they do then it betrays their raison d' etre. In their beginning the Tea Party was as pissed about Bush II's profligate spending every bit as much as anything Obama did. They hated TARP that Bush II started and the auto bailout which Bush II also started. They hated the unfunded prescription drug program Bush forced down the throat of a GOP COngress. They wanted no more 'conservatives' like Bush II. Now they are going to vote for Romney??? They are going to vote for Romney because he is not Obama? Neither was Bush Obama. Would they vote for him again? They actually think Romney will be to the right of Bush II??? Ok, so Romney is better than Perry who seems incapable of coordinating his speech, memory and thought centers to make a coherent statement longer than "oops". But Romney is only one step up in my opinion -- reciting verses to America The Beautiful at every stop. Santorum can actually make a coherent speech and make his points cogently most of the time. He only gets in trouble when he tries to soften edges on his harsh extreme views. To his credit he doesn't do that much and lets his extreme side flourish proudly. He's got the faculties to actually have amounted to something if he wasn't a wacko's wacko and hadn't compiled a record that he cannot hide. The GOP has fielded one lame set of candidates this time and the establishment is left to embrace Romney of all people as their standard bearer. The second time in a row, as McCain was pushed on them last time. The possible candidates with real gravitas eg. Mitch Daniels, Christy, Thune, Jeb Bush, etc. all chose to bow out this time whether because they thought Obama was a winner or that they could never satisfactorily placate the right wing of the GOP, or their name was tarnished by a relative, or all of the above. I would not be surprised to see a third party candidate on the right this go-round. I nominate Jim Demint - a choice, not an echo!!

Kelley Blue Book names top-10 used cars under $8,000 By Jonathan Welsh | The Wall Street Journal – Fri, Jan 6, 2012 7:34 PM EST With the average price of a new vehicle at more than $30,000, a growing number of car shoppers are turning to the used market. Indeed, used cars have gotten so popular that many models are hard to find. There have even been cases of used cars selling for more than new ones. But used-car buyers in general are looking for bargains by avoiding the depreciation that hits new cars in the first year or two of ownership. Often shoppers are working on tight budgets with a maximum price they are able to pay. Kelley Blue Book, which provides auto-industry pricing information and analysis, released a list of what it considers the top 10 used cars for less than $8,000. The prices are based on the company’s well-known Blue Book Value calculations for used cars from the 2002 model year and newer. The vehicles that made the list have, according to Kelley, “the most appealing mixes of reliability, versatility and desirability, with an emphasis on track record.” It is an interesting group. Here they are, with Blue Book values as of December, 2011: 2008 Kia Rio, $7,895 2004 Ford Crown Victoria, $7,970 2003 Mazda Protege5, $7,360 2002 Toyota Tundra Standard Cab, $5,925 2003 Ford Escape, $7,560 2004 Scion xA, $7,805 2004 Pontiac Vibe, $7,630 2002 Toyota Corolla, $6,125 2002 Infiniti G20, $5,965 2004 Honda Civic, $7,970 See original article at: http://autos.yahoo.com/news/kelley-blue-book-names-top-10-used-cars-under--8-000.html

Don't blame Tebow too much, blame those that are using him for their agenda. I'm not big on making a public spectacle out of one's spirituality. I think it is a matter of taste and manners. Others feel differently. I guess they have some need to fulfill by it, even if I don't get it. I can tolerate it but I can't abide all the using and abusing by one side or the other. Just as long as Tebow doesn't show up at my front door wanting to get on his knees in my living room.... ummm... well, after reflection I can think of worse things than having Tebow on his knees in my living room.

They are still called magnifying glasses. Get em at your local pharmacy right next to the dime store reading glasses.

Pardon me, but I think a dreamy real guy is Davey Wavy. I have a crush on him -- a lustful one too, but not just that.

OMG fuck no!!! It'll take twenty fours hours of sitting on your ass in the theatre to get anything resolved.

I just wonder how many right wingers will vote Romney in the fall. If he is not stopped there may well be a third party candidate on the right. 75% of the base just does not like him. I find it hard to believe that all of them will hold their nose and vote for him not to mention toiling in the political fields for him. The establishment is telling them to do just that. The tea party is not just anti-Obama. They were so pissed at Bush because of his spending that I doubt a good number of them will push Romney's lever who is less conservative than Bush. If these people are willing to wreak havoc on the country by not increasing the debt limit then they may well be ready to destroy their party in the hope that their true vision rises from the ashes. They are people given to extreme measures. A third party run is not out of the question if Romney is the nominee.

Yes, essentially but not religously. Nothing is prohibited just signigicantly deemphasized.

I never watch the Donald. Just as well, his head won't fit on my 46" flat screen.

I can say truly that none of those ever clutter my life anymore.

I know where I'd be spending my days.

OUt of respect for those who do not wish to wade through politics we have a separate forum. I do not see why we cannot respect that and keep everyone happy. It's like being in a cafeteria and getting served broccoli when you do not want it and being told: everybody gets it, don't eat if you don't want it. There is just no rational reason for putting it on their plate. The same with politics in the Pub. I know some hope that people will be dragged into participating, even when they say they are more likely not to bother to come back. I do not believe in force feeding people what they do not want, even if I like broccoli. The most problematic post I saw as of last night started as a current events post and was subsequently dragged across the line into politics. I have been guilty of that myself so how I understand how that happens. Just when to make a call on when to move depends on how many follow-ups of which nature occur.

For those with serious weight issues and attendant health problems such as hypertension, diabetes, bad HDL, etc. and cancer risk issues too, you might want to check out this diet. I think there is a very good chance there is something to this. Created by Dr Joel Furhman MD and former Olympic athlete, it is based on nutrition density of the diet. GOMBS stands for Greens, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries and Beans, and Seeds. Make these the center of your diet and weight will melt away and with it for many, those medical condtions. PBS solicited him to make a series of videos to go with a couple of books previously published. I saw his pitch. Having been an early adopter of Atkins and seeing it work, I'm just as convinced that this is likely to work. There is no calorie watching or extreme dieting demands -- just make those foods the center of your eating regimen and eat as much as you want. You can have other foods too just cut back on them. The problem with this for me is one has to be creative in making meals from these foods while cutting back on meats and processed foods. I have no problems with any of these foods but I have limited ways to prepare them and making meals of them every night would get old quickly. He offers a cook book and others do as well to help make tasty dishes. A quick glimpse gives the impression that it takes more prep effort than I can put into that these days. Anyway, I do think there is great potential in this diet if one has the discipline and desire to puruse it. Here is a starter link for those interested. http://healthymealdiet.com/gombs-diet

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea, maxima culpa!! Pardone me.... My failing eyes overlooked the date of the top post since it looked like a fresh post. Who the fuck would resurrect someone else's dead-end post from 2006 anyway??? Well that mystery is solved. I responded under the assumption that it was posted yesterday. The posts of others explaining that this poster had passed just seemed to confirm (in my mind) that something mischevious was afoot. Plus, the lack of certain info available only to the admin made the post seem all the more suspicious. Thus I tried to explain how such an occurrence might happen. So in the end I guess in the end Eastburbguy/ncm 2169 got what they wanted -- a little mischief raised.

I'd love to see Santorum carry the banner for the Repubs this November. Go Santorum!!

There has been and remains an attempt to make a distinction. The criteria is current events in the The Pub and Politics in the Forum. Sometimes they overlap such as a Supreme Court decision etc. I will try to do a better job keepng up with all this newfound posting ferver.

It is not Eastburbguy/ncm 2169, others have remarked on his passing. All I can suggest is the following. It is only a guess but founded in fact and my past conversations with Eastburbguy/ncm 2169. Eastburbguy/ncm 2169 was very close to an escort in his hometown. I believed they lived together. Close enough that I would not be surprised if he had Eastburbguy/ncm 2169 login info. Eastburbguy/ncm 2169 was also close to some other escorts (though not as close) as he flirted with starting an escort agency, so it is possible it could be one of them. Whoever he is, we have heard the last of him under that ID. My wish is that he reappear, as a 24 yo Brando as he appeared in 'On the Waterfront', in my bedroom on all fours with an evil grin looking back over his shoulder. Unfortunately, my recollection though is that this escort is a top and gay for pay. So much for fantasies.
