It was a fun interview. Joan was raunchy as hell and had her cohorts laughing, gasping and blushing. Ryan handled it all very well not shying away from any of it. I give his performance an solid A for an amateur in front of a camera with a raunchy hostess. He is hot and I would definitely clear my schedule for him. Not too worried about his diction as I fantasize his mouth too full to talk.

Why? Everyone deserves their youth. No need to rush it

What movies do you like to watch over and over again?

Forgot to mention the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy, Swedish version with subs. Compelling... -

The LOR Trilogy Harry Potter Bourne Series Blade series The Last Starfighter Casablanca... to name a few off the top of my head. Probably a hundred others given more time. -
I predict that you and everyone else will be disappointed on what actually materializes... or dematerializes.

With a party chairman like that who needs an opposition party. lolol

This is significant. Can cracks in the Great Wall of China be far behind?

HB was a big LV fan.

Make sure he gets all the exotic cruise gifts and dresses appropriately.

Wow!! Me too. The passing of another icon of the American Scene. This is starting to get scary.

Like any formless fluid (read sans principles) he assumes the shape of his container. This time around he poured himself into a right wing box. Don't blame Romney for this choice, he's only taking orders. Not the first and many many more are to come. I've already remarked elsewhere that he would be our most ever remotely piloted president. Norquist, Ann Coulter Limbaugh,... etc have given marching orders and he has fallen into step, hopefully on the march over the cliff. Now time for a move...

Are we all illiterate or is proofreading a forgotten art?
TampaYankee replied to a topic in The Beer Bar
Welcome to the very uneven American education system. I am less concerned about this than I am the faltering proof reading that is exhibited everyday in the internet media, even by 'professional' and 'responsible' outlets. The number of errors is appalling. Only newspapers and professional book publishers seem to maintain high standards and even newspapers have been showing cracks in the patina of late -- a few anyway. Of course, I excuse my own shortcomings that often appear. I blame it on the fact that I am impatient at reading my own words and I always read what I intended in contrast to what I typed. I can only distinguish the difference when I come back later for a 'cold' read. -
Are you going to watch the Olympic Closing Ceremonies?
TampaYankee replied to a topic in The Beer Bar
I picked it up at George Michael. Thought is was quite good as I enjoyed it very much (for the most part) until the Brazilians took over. I guess they were trying to tell their history but what I got out of it was little more than samba girls wired to wagon wheels made ought of florescent lamps and indian tribesman with lighted lamp shades on their heads. That and the NBC nanny cam director trying to show us the show without showing the bodies in it. I'm so sick of being protected from too much physical 'frankness' at athletic events and ceremonial shows. The people went to all the trouble of competing and performing and costuming to be reduced to long distance shots and head shots. American puritanism pisses me off! -
Yes, that captures the original image in my mind.
-
In my mind I had the image of a Neil Caffrey (White Collar) type with maybe another ten to 12 years on him but since the original concept was silhouettes I didn't get that specific. That's how I imagine some of our more dashing world travelers be they Latin, Californian, North Carolinian, or otherwise.

You Phoenix people... How do you put up with those dust storms? I am aware of at least two this summer. Maybe more? I've seen what volcanic ash has done to homes, cars, planes, etc. It is impossible to keep from penetrating everywhere no matter the precautions. I suspect dust in dust storms is pretty much the same. This is bad enough on the locust cycle -- seventeen years or so -- but yearly and worse twice in one summer a few weeks apart. EGAD!! How do you do it?

Me too. Years ago I had a chance to buy Apple for a song. The PepsiCo guy had run it into the ground. My company and most others refused to buy any more Macs. Predictions of its demise was coming from all quarters with the exception of Steve Jobs. Yeah, its stock could have been had for a song but who wants to buy a dying company. I still believed in it I just didn't think anybody else did.

I use it sparingly because of Google spying concerns. Google has too many thumbs in too many facets of computing and phones. I don't need them correlating all that potential data about me in 'their' computers.
-
I have similar concerns. I don't actively do cloud computing and I do not think I will start if I can help it. I do share movies with my son on some cloud accounts that are his. He 'buys' some movies on these accounts. One of his movies that he 'bought' disappeared when the company he purchased through lost the 'license' to hold that movie. So much for 'buying' on the cloud. He had no recourse as the company would not respond. We haven't even touched Big Brother yet. Good luck.

J Lo (and boytoy) threatening to sue over gay allegations
TampaYankee replied to a topic in The Beer Bar
Idle bluster, that's all. First, J Lo has no standing to sue. Second, they do not want this dragged through a court with photos and witness and who knows what. Maybe they really want a retraction, more likely the publicity. -
Saw it on the news. Pretty funny.

Just nothing consoling that can be said at these times.

The first time was more than enough.
