As someone who grew up in Mpls., and went to st. cloud state and moved to Calif. 30 years ago, Let me say welcome! i post 99% of the time in the South of the border section.

I would skip Florinopolis as far as the sauna scene goes! there is only one rent boy sauna, if it is still opened and never had more then a couple guys in there. Also you are going during the Brazilian winter which in Florinaopolis is cold and the town slows way down! it is a tourist city from November to March! But worth a visit just not for the sauna scene! Curitiba is a pretty city that also has snow in the winter as it is i think at 5,000 ft elevation, 2 saunas, one is ok but not worth going to Curitiba specifically for the sauna you will be disappointed compared to Rio or SP, imho Porto Alegre is my favorite sauna physically, and can be very good or very bad, just depends on the night! Mixx Bar is a favorite place of mine because it is like(and the last)old fashioned hustler bar around! 1/2 the guys in there will be guys from the sauna that didn’t make any money earlier and 1/2 are just local guys looking for some cash for the weekend. there are 3 rooms scattered around the bar you can rent for a 1/2 hour, i would not recommend taking Bar Mixx guys back to your hotel as they probably wouldn’t get by security.

Riobard. you can separate friends and family and acquaintances, etc., and when you post you can select whether you want your Friends or relatives can be in the groups that see it. The same with your friends you can select who can or cannot see your friends list! works great i know! :-)

i have been in Rio every month during my visits, and the only month i will not go back is July! Brazilians take vacations during july because it is the month that schools are closed, and the middle of Brazilian Winter! The saunas are also slower.

Tasso the saunas don't hire the garotos, whoever shows up with a valid ID (and sometimes a not valid ID)at the sauna can work, since technically it is against the law to make money off Prostitution(except for the prostitute)they will let anyone who they have not had issues with work there! I think very few if any Native indigenous men have ever applies at the saunas in Rio or Sao Paulo, but if they did they could work there! now maybe in the sauna in Manaus there is...but I have to admit I would not be interested!

Thanks everyone for your comments! i remember a conversation i had one time when i had a Cuban BF from ‘97 to ‘99, he has been in the Cuban Navy and when the ship docked in Mexico he hopped on a plane to Houston and made it here! He worked as a trainer in Miami and i thought he was beautiful! When he came to LA for his first visit i had a party with about 25 guys to introduce him and one person came up to me and said “why didn’t you say your BF was Black?” I said “I told you he was Cuban!” It never dawned on me i had to define his skin tone! (He was really black like fresh from Nigeria Black) But it never occurred to me to make a point about it..i was very naive 20 years ago about things out of my wheelhouse! Anyhow, i understand preferences for similiar types person to what we are, i have always liked differences! i grew up in Minnesota where everyone was Blonde, blue eyed and named Johnson/Anderson or Hanson! :-) and that is not usually what i am attracted to...unless i am in Prague!

The majority of people go to Rio and secondly SP because those are the 2 centers of tourism in Brazil especially Rio! Most people reading the board do not go multiple times of the year or even consecutive years there! So naturally they would not pick Bahia, or Salvador or Fortaleza, etc. Secondly, personally i don’t know if any poster personally who does not go with Black sauna guys! i go with whoever i think is “Hot” at the sauna! i think that photo i posted of the 7 friends who were sauna guys at 117, who are at the restaurant shows the rainbow of colors(and for the record i have been with 5 of the 7 more then once!). i will give it a shot at answering some of your questions where i have had current* experience! Over the last 17 years i have seen the saunas change back and forth in popularity but 117 has always remained in #1 or #2 position! Saying that there are nights when it is not the most popular and it is closed on Mondays. For weekend getaways i like Porto Alegre and São Paulo! In porto alegre i always stay in the Moinjos de Vento area which is a upscale neighborhood and has 2 hotels i like, The Sheraton and the Quality Hotel. The Sheraton is attached to a 3story Boutique higher end Mall and the street in front of the hotel is called Padre Chagas and in its 5 blocks has about a twenty plus restaurants, specialty stores, clubs! there is a park that starts a block down from the Sheraton and goes for about 5 or so square blocks, very nice with many joggers on the weekends! Mezziniu sauna has always been one of my favorites it opened in 2007 i by chance happened to be there the week after it opened. best times there are Fri, Sat., Sun. thou not necessarily three nights in a row! I wont go in depth regarding LaGoa as there has been much written already but i like Friday and saturday nights there! Mvan is the resident authority on SP here and can give much better detailed info then i can. i will say the last time i stayed in SP i used Airbnb and got a great place in the Aclimacau neighborhood which was a great location and had a whole house 3bdrs/3 Baths for a really reasonable price
