I've spent every June in Thailand this century , staying throughout  the country from Krabi in the south to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in the north.   The weather will not affect your enjoyment though it may curtail some time spent on the beach, if that is important to you.  The guys will be there, eager to meet due to the relatively low numbers of falangs. And, if you are a sauna-enthusiast,  you are in luck; Babylon will provide a more productive afternoon than in the high season. for the same reason. 
Bring an umbrella; short, intense showers are a possibility. In Pattaya, there is a possibility of localised short-term  flooding- I once saw a Thai catching two fish outside Ambiance. Two hours later, the soi was merely damp. I'll be in Bangkok, Krabi and Pattaya this June. And I can't wait.
As for other places to visit, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are my favourite cities, Krabi  has my favourite beaches and, for the gay scene, Pattaya and Jomtien are by far the best.

Finally managed to get a better report from my friend who was there. That is indeed one area where Thais positively surprise me.
Not just boys I had sex with. In 2018, a taxi driver told me he once drove me and a friend, and as he specified the place where I got out, he was right! That was in 2013, my friend took taxi to Pattaya and I got out at ABAC on the way.
Sometimes I just recognize the boy, but he remembers my name, where I come from and other stuff we talked about, and where we went and what we did.
However, some are just fishing. One told me met x years ago and had sex, without going into detail, but as he is not my type I can say with certainty that we never had sex.
I remember where they come from much better than their names.

Comparing Cambodia to Thailand is just ridiculous.  I don't have the time or the energy to list the differences from banking systems , to modern transportation and yes even to education. 
People who disparage the education system might look at the hospitals like Bumungrad where people from all over the world come for medical treatment and unbelievably the Doctors are actually Thai . How did they get to be world class Doctors . Of course some took advanced training around the world but these Doctors and Dentists grew up in Thailand.
Does that quality of education filter down to the masses. Unfortunately not. Just like it does not filter down to many poor sections in my country  (USA). 
BKK has a mass transportation system that is modern and constantly  getting more complete. Is it perfect ? Of course not but it is far superior to NYC and many other cities in the world that are considered world class. BKK has an airport that puts many airports in the western world to shame. Is it perfect , of course not .
I am sick of Western people looking down their nose at a country they spend so much time in. Find another country to spend your time and get the quality of cheap sex.

The bar formerly known as X-Boys is now open as "Lucky Boys."  It is up some stairs right next to Dreamboy Paradiso.  It looks like Bangkok Massage will take up its traditional place next door.

Wonder if the new name is one way to get out from under the negative reviews reported in some of the Middle Kingdom boards?  

I didn’t go inside so can only report on what I saw and heard sitting at Maxi’s till 10.    There were only 2 touts working out front , but with barely no foot traffic they were board.  Usually you see boys coming and going in the side door, but I saw none,  I suspect there had to be some boys or they wouldn’t be touts working to get you inside.  Also interesting, the German owner, or ex owner, always leaves after 11:30 show.  Last night he left at 9.  There was a German customer in Maxi’s and they sat and talked for 5 minutes.   I’ve never seen him leave that early, but can be any number of reasons why.   But I’m sure no customers could be high on the list. 

Of course that is the root of your problem . You look at the boys you hire as a 3rd world prostitutes  and in your mind a prostitute is a low level human being who is only there to provide you with pleasure.  I might be wrong but I think many of our members here have a more evolved feeling of both the country and the boys that give them pleasure. I would guess many of our members even know countries where prostitution is completely legal and and the money is quite good. I would also guess some ,at least of our members come from a country where prostitutes make high 6 figure incomes and have the same wants of many of us for a nice home and cars etc.
I and I think many of our members are not put off by the boys asking for something . Because they know that the boy is just asking without assuming. Nothing ventured nothing gained!
Different if the boy reacts badly if his request is denied . I would guess that happens about 1% or less of the time.
I said it before and of course you ignored it that there is no chance you would ever buy a boy an 8000 baht phone . That is 8x your maximum to pay a boy for giving you pleasure and I am sure there are many times you paid less than 1000 baht.
Anyone who actually travels the world would never refer to Thailand as a 3rd world country. You spend a lot of time in the agrarian sections of Thailand  where boys are cheaper and you can feel more superior .  That would be similar to someone referring to the farm areas of Iowa  as a 3rd world country in the USA.
You are not really well travelled although you think you are . And many of your comments show disdain for the Thai people . Again as I have written before, I think many , even most of our members have a much higher opinion of Thailand and the Thai people . I know I do !

I would not spend much thought on it.
In all my years of going to gogo bars, with a ratio of looking to buying of about 10 to 1, I was in a similar situation only once. That was in Eros about 4 years ago. A boy I had before and wanted again was sitting with a customer, so I asked staff if the customers  intends to off the boy. The answer was no, so I waited and got the boy soon after. Else I would have gone somewhere else.
Another occasion, a few months ago in Kawaii, a boy I was keen on (from chatting online) and would have offed was sitting with a customer, and it looked like they would spend more time, so I did not interfere. Anyway, I spend most of my time in Thailand, so I can let others, who most like are tourists, get the boy first and I can get him later (and I did!).
As for befriending mamasan, about 5 years ago I befriended a mamasan at Classic Boys Bangkok, or at least I thought so. But after chatting with him several times, and buying him beers several times, it became clear to me that he is not interested in friendship, but in the beer I buy him.
As for having regulars, I would quickly get to doing this business directly in order to save time and money. (For me, going to a bar knowing which boy I would take home is a waste of time and money. Others might have different attitudes.)
