I stayed at the Avani in 2019 and it's quite a nice hotel. I did not have a chance to test out the joiner policy as I "ate out" so to speak, however I did engage the services of a legit massage guy during daytime hours who registered at reception and they sent him up. No joiner fee was paid, probably because it was during the day I guess. Probably unimportant, but I ordered a pizza from room service (but the pizza comes from a nearby pizza place, not from the hotel) and when it arrived it was absolutely massive. I was proud of myself for eating it all myself lol.

For what it's worth, I travelled on Scoot in their 'scoot plus' section which is I guess their version of business class, but considering it is a low cost carrier, much less luxurious than a business class on a full service carrier. Comparable to premium economy I guess. Whilst I luckily don't need to take a long haul flight to get to Thailand, and don't really need the extra leg room (as I am smaller in stature), it was sure nice sitting up the front of the plane! And for some reason, I don't know whether there was a glitch in the system, or some promotion, but at the time that I booked the ticket, the scoot plus fare was actually cheaper than the regular economy fare.. lucky me!

Singapore is expensive compared to the nearby countries, however it is a destination you can make as cheap or expensive as you like - if you eat at hawker's centres it is relatively cheap (and on the other end of the spectrum there are many expensive restaurants also), and public transport I think was actually cheaper than Bangkok if I remember correctly. There are some gay saunas and massage places as well. I do like Singapore and hopefully I'll get some time to go visit again, rather than use it as a layover in between flights.

I had wanted to visit Taiwan some time ago but had forgotten about it, but your post reminded me about it and now I am quite eager to go! Hopefully the borders will open at some point..

This is a great topic for discussion, and something that rings true for me (and for most so it seems). I used to be in the mindset that I needed to have sex with as many guys as possible and fill up my days as much as possible during my short trips and would feel guilty if I didn't, but then I kinda thought, who am I actually trying to impress? Agree! I just came back home yesterday and I had a blast - it is not yet at pre-covid levels, but there is still plenty to do. I went to dreamboys a few times and some of the nights, particularly weekends the place was packed. Grindr is active, many massage shops open (particularly on soi 6), and lots to eat. I would recommend that this would be a great time to go! They need us! Proud to have somewhat contributed to the economy!

Final thoughts And just like that, my trip is over. This particular trip was special because not only for the fact it was my first international trip after a 2.5 year absence, but because it provided me an escape as I had been going through some shit in the weeks prior to my trip. Now being back home, I need to deal with reality again, and more than ever yearning to be back in Thailand. December/January could be an option for my next trip. My final 2 nights were spent in Dreamboys, and since I had been there a number of times I was becoming more familiar with the staff - I don't know the name of the mamasan, the smaller, older guy, but he was really nice and always knew my drink order. My 2nd final night I spent with a dreamboy, not my regular one, but another one that I had my eye one. He was decent though and softly spoken. He also took me back to the hotel on his motorbike, which by the way I am deathly afraid of, but it was only a short distance and I told him to go slow which he did. My final night was spent with my dreamboy regular for the 5th time. I've spoken about him before but he is excellent and my favourite. I even told him that - I said that even if I go with 100 boys, he will always be my favourite. Since I had an early morning flight, after he left, I spent some time packing and checking out at about 3:30am and going to the airport. The flight back home was pretty non-eventful but I was pretty wrecked as I hadn't slept that night and I have a lot of trouble sleeping on planes. Things I will miss: Prime massage - I lost count the amount of times I have been here, but it is always a good quality professional experience. Tip - if you go earlier in the day you are more likely to get seen straight away as a walk-in, I tried once at night but there was a 2 hour wait as I didn't have an appointment. The weather - going out every day in shorts and a shirt was delightful when it is the middle of winter in my country. Our winter's are pretty mild but I would still prefer the heat. 7/11 - I loved being able to get decently priced snacks and drinks 24/7, and seemingly seeing the same cute guy(s?) serving me no matter what time I am there (I frequented the 7/11 just in front of the Tarntawan). Tarntawan Hotel - it's showing its age, but it is a nice hotel and very conveniently located. I like the safety aspect how guys need to leave their ID at reception. Staff are always friendly. Bum guns - going back to just toilet paper seems gross now. Public transport - being able to get to a BTS/MRT station and having the train show up within a few minutes, and not having to rely on a train timetable is amazing. Food - so much variety and at so many price points. You want a cheap meal? Sure thing. You want something fancy and expensive? You can have that too. And of course the guys - some are better than others, but it is always nice to spend time with these young men. Anyway, thanks for reading, and whilst waiting patiently for my next trip, I look forward to reading many more trip reports now that international travel is becoming easier and easier.

I'm coming towards the end of my Thailand trip and it has been really great to be back here after a 2.5 year absence. My last update was made in the Phuket airport waiting for the flight back to Bangkok which was pretty non-eventful and upon arrival, I caught the arl/bts to Sala Daeng and walked with my suitcase back to Tarntawan whilst it was lightly raining. The room type I chose for this leg of the trip was the 'executive' and even though it is smaller than the corner suite I stayed in previously, I think I like this one better as it has a full length floor to ceiling window and a view which gives it a brighter feel (the corner suite felt a little dark and there was not much of a view). Dreamboys: Unexpectedly, and despite my plans for butterflying around, I have a regular boy here now - I'll call him DB (for lack of a better nickname) for short. As mentioned previously, he was my best off of my last trip to Thailand (2019) and we ended up reconnecting when I arrived here a couple of weeks ago. I want to really be gagging for it! I often walk down soi 6 and there are quite a few massage shops there which are probably worth exploring. Other things: I haven't been doing a lot of the things which I had planned as I seem to always be tired - whilst the time difference between here and my country is only an hour, I am usually in bed by 9pm and awake by 5am, but here when I'm going to bars at around 10pm, and not going to sleep until 2am or so, but my body still wants to wake up at around 5 or 6am, there are going to be problems! I also developed this cough which has mostly gone now, and earlier in the trip I found some red dots that appeared on my leg which I thought may have been monkey pox so I went to the hospital - turns out they were (I think) burst blood vessels and the doctor gave me some tablets and topical medicine (which I didn't end up taking, but the dots went away on their own). I've been doing a lot of walking though, went to some of the shopping malls (central world, Siam paragon etc), and have been eating a wide assortment of food - stuff from 7/11, local Thai food from grab, and sit down restaurants in shopping centres. I even tried out a vegan restaurant which was nice. There have also been numerous times where I am spoken to in Thai, which amuses me, so perhaps I had better learn a little of the language so I am able to answer back in Thai rather than just looking confused before they realise I'm not actually Thai. I have 2 more days here before I go back to my reality, and definitely will look forward to my next trip now that international travel is more accessible - hopefully the end of the year.

I agree with you here. I'm the kind of person that is adaptable and flexible to the situation presented to me, however when they don't even touch you it gets old pretty quick. I respect their boundaries though and would never force anything they are not comfortable with, so for me I think I probably need to be a little more pickier in my selection so that all parties are satisfied. Yes! Being versatile definitely opens more options.

Some thoughts about Phuket. Tourism is starting to pick up again which is great, and even though it’s slightly busy, it’s not at pre-pandemic levels just yet. I’ve been here once before and I decided to visit again as I wanted a bit of a beach holiday. I stayed in party central patong (which is not really my scene, but I thought I would try) and don’t really recommend Seaview hotel for a number of reasons, one of which is I was put into a room with an adjoining door and I could hear everything very clearly from the room next door (including s3x, but fortunately, or unfortunately for them, it did not last too long). I did book the cheapest room type though and I didn’t really complain as I was only there 2 nights. Can’t fault the service though, it was actually very good. They also played the Thai national anthem at 8am each morning quite loudly and I’ve never experienced that in a hotel before. In terms of guys, I visited 4 massage in the past and I thought I would return as I had a good experience previously. The guy that massaged me in the past still worked there and remembered me (but not quite at first) but I chose him and fun times ensued. Later on after exchanging line details he even invited me to have drinks with him later, which I thought was nice, but declined in the end. Grindr has been a lot more active than in bkk and cnx and 2 guys I was chatting to also worked at 4 massage. I told them they can massage me next time I come to Phuket. Phuket is generally a little pricey but it’s a good time to travel now. Hotel prices are decent and it’s not yet overrun with tourists. Would I come back? Probably yes but I think next time I may try stay somewhere different, somewhere a little more relaxing. I stayed in Karon before so I’ll explore the different beaches. The smart bus at the moment is only 100 baht but I think it’s only a promotion for a while. I’m coming back to Bangkok for about a week before I go back home, lots of guys to see, and I think I might do some day trips to like Ayutthaya or the ancient city etc. Looking forward to it!
