It seems to me that most of your post is right here: http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/findpost-t5241-p35403.html Be careful. Both of your posts include thinly veiled attacks. If you wish to be retain the privilege of posting on this board, please do so without the attacks. That group you're so familiar with goes to all kinds of restaurants, expensive and inexpensive, and everyone pays his own bill. I can see what you're trying to do and believe me you're on the wrong board to be doing it. You haven't been on this board for very long and you won't last here very long if this is the kind of thing you're up to. Feel free to post whatever you want about the issues and subjects, but leave attacks out of it. If this is your idea of a "very informative post," that, I guarantee, will not be tolerated. I believe you can be a valuable, informative poster here if you choose to be. But if you're going to choose to be a troll, I think you probably already know how we handle problem posters. The subject of this thread is Chez Vickie. It isn't about who pays how much or who is a Canadian in monk drag.

I hate to break the news, but I haven't deleted anything.
  3. I'm sorry. I left my rectal thermometer at home this morning. It was hot. Not burning hot. As far as I was concerned it was just right. I'm not sure, though, how long it will take for the blisters to heal or whether Thailand will accept a 'Stella' lawsuit for the coffee.
  4. This morning we tried the breakfast buffet. I think this is one you really ought to try. It was just excellent and what a deal! It's every bit as good as breakfast buffets I've been to in this city where you pay 800 baht on up. Here you pay 145 baht plus whatever you want to leave for a tip. Everything listed on the menu is there. They also have an omelet cook who will make your omelet (or eggs any style you want) and serve it to you piping hot. He also has sausages, steaks, etc. that he'll cook and serve to you. They also serve you the coffee or tea. I prefer that to getting it myself. I always manage to spill half of it. The breakfast includes all the fresh brewed coffee and tea you want. No extra charge for refills. The same is true for water and juices. Kim, herself, is right there to supervise and make sure you receive the service and food quality you came for. You get your choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Comfortable seats for the smokers are available, well away from where non-smokers will be subjected to anyone's smoke. At this price, at this quality, I think this breakfast buffet will very soon become the most popular breakfast in town.
  5. There is a brand or two of recording DVD players, on which you can record DVDs from television. Send a PM to Shebavon. He has one.
  6. Yes. You should have been able to set up your profile with the option of it being private or public. Private means only people you approve get to see it. As for the "friends," all of those should be requests that you can approve, deny, or just ignore. A lot of them, especially the younger ones, seem to be more interested in having a huge friends list than they are in actually finding people to meet. You should be able to go into your profile and change any of those options, including whether you receive friends requests via Email or a request list showing up only when you log on to Hi5.
  7. I agree. Enough is enough and now it's starting to get personal. Thread closed.
  8. I haven't, but I've talked about it with many Thai people. 100,000 baht is a little bit more than US $3000. You wouldn't get much of a home for that. From what I have been told, out in the boondocks a home the Thais consider acceptable and nice would cost anywhere between US $5000 to $15,000. Still quite low, but not many of the rural Thais who are poor are looking for a house up to farang standards, even if a farang is willing to pay for it. I have a feeling that if you are considering building a house for a Thai b/f and family, by the time you're done with everything you will have spent a good US $25,000 to $30,000.

No. I've been in two places. One was where people know what they're talking about. The other was Chez Vickie . . .

Ok, I did and now I spotted it. If someone was willing to give me a quarter of a million dollars for a Sunee Plaza go-go bar, I'd sell it instantly.

I must be missing something. I can't find anything where Krazy Dragon is even mentioned. 8 million baht? That's about a quarter of a million US dollars!
  12. Of course not. And Bkkguy was merely trying to make us aware of the issue. Certainly that's all the poor, misunderstood man had in mind. Only that. Making us aware of the issue. And we followed his advice and changed the posting rules. And this guy still won't take 'yes' for an answer. Naturally now our motives for changing the policy are called into question: "GB - you have posted news stories for years based on your previous legal advice but now are willing to change this without seeming to know or care if I am right or wrong - why?" Unnnbelievable. How do you win with a guy like this? If we didn't change the policy, I'd still be under his fire. So, we changed the policy. And I'm still under his fire. You want reasons for the change? I'll give you four reasons. One is because my legal advice is over ten years old and until you came along it never occurred to me that ten year old advice may no longer be valid. Reason number two is because GT did check and recommended the policy we now use. Reason number three is the same reason I previously stated. It's much less of a pain to simply post a link. Reason number four was to shut you up. Well, that one worked great, didn't it? It has been my experience that when someone can't win a pointless argument and keeps coming up with posts that get more and more ridiculous, contradicts his own statements, and avoids responding to questions, that's usually when they start resorting to name calling. Now we're "fools." Good. That clears up the whole matter. I forgot all about the fact that I'm a fool. How foolish of me. Well, at least I'm only a fool. Whew! For a while there I was worried that I might be a damned fool.

A post made where? Who made the post?
  14. Aha! So that's it. Next time I'll try to take into consideration whether you might be bored. Why don't you just admit that the real reason you stirred this up has nothing to do with your idea that our posting methods might be hurting those poor online publications or that you were only trying to save this poor old naive board from an infringement lawsuit? I don't even need to state the reason. It's totally obvious. I also think you are very well aware of another gay Thailand board that has a hell of a lot more cut-and-paste news items than this board ever did. Strange . . . I just had a look. I don't see any posts from you on that board about copyright infringement. Don't you want to save the publications from being victimized by that board too?

You're entitled to your opinion. Ok, let's see if you know who I ate with. I also want to know, whether they happen to be people you like or dislike, what difference that makes to whether a restaurant is good or not. Here was the group: Me ChrisUK RichLB PattayaMale Geezer Shebavon and one person who does not post on this or any board that I know of. Seven in all, plus 17 more people at other tables (I really did count how many people were eating there that night), all of whom seemed to be enjoying their dinner as much as we enjoyed ours. Is any of that a problem? If you want, next time that group goes to eat somewhere we'll let you know when and where. That will make spying much easier. Now, just what any of that has to do with the food at Chez Vickie goes beyond me. When you say you don't know how I can compare the food at Bordeaux with Chez Vickie, that's easy. I like both. I like Chez Vickie better. I also like Cuisine au Buerre, just down the street. Again, I don't know why we are having this debate. I still say let people try whatever restaurants they want and form their own opinions. I think most people are well aware that Bordeaux and Chez Vickie are not exactly the only restaurants in town. Ok, I've said my piece. You can have the last word. After that I think it's time to move on.
  16. As one member of the group said - "You have to take what you can get . . . "
  17. No, it's my group. I paid plenty in off fees for them, so they're mine!

    Chez Vickie

Not according to me, my friends, and many others. In all honesty, the way you feel about Chez Vickie is how I feel about Bordeaux. I think Chez Vickie is excellent. I enjoy it very much and, as I said, so do my friends. Only a few nights ago six of us were there and every one of us loved it. I'm glad you like Bordeaux, but I'll be across the street at Chez Vickie. Like I said, it's all individual taste. You have your favorites and I have mine. They don't have to be the same places, do they? It's just like people's tastes in boys. Some like the muscle types. Some like the femme types. Again, individual taste and preferences. In that immediate area there is Bordeaux, Chez Vickie, and Le Montecristo. I think people who wish to eat in that area should try all three of them and decide for themselves which ones they prefer instead of relying on us having a debate about it on the board. Some people will agree with you, some with me, some with neither of us, and some with both of us. Do you disagree?
  20. My group, among many others, gave the Weekend B.B.Q Dinner Buffet a try on its opening night. Many quite well-known people were there, including several members of the Pattaya Mail staff. Both Pascal and Kim were also there to make sure all went well. It did! Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and I overheard plenty of compliments. The food, quality, and service were up to Pascal's high standards. Everything went off beautifully. I asked Pascal how he can do this at this price. He simply smiled and said, "It isn't easy." If you enjoy this kind of buffet, I highly recommend giving it a try. Make reservations. If last night was any indication, it's going to be a packed house every weekend. The breakfast buffet's opening day is tomorrow (Monday). My group will be there, for sure!
  21. I think one of the gents I wanted to ban has finally gotten the message too. The problem is even if you are able to block his number, all he has to do is borrow someone else's phone. That way you won't have that number stored. What I do is simply not answer an incoming call if I don't already have the number stored. If someone calling me with an unfamiliar number sends me a text message telling me who they are, I'll either answer or call back if it's someone I want to speak to. However, in most cases I simply don't answer an unfamiliar number.
  22. To tell the truth, for me it's much easier to simply copy and paste a link than to do the whole article, which sometimes is a pain to do when you have to go around photos, ads, etc. We'll see how it goes for a while. Bkkguy has made his point, but he doesn't run this web site, as much as I believe he'd like to. The final decision as to how we'll handle posting articles is up to GT.
  23. I can only hope that's a promise. Of course, if you want to break your silence some time to let us know why it took you 4 years to start this up, I, for one, am all ears.
