The fact is the only ones who wish to refer to them as Native Americans are others trying to be politically correct. I can tell you that when I lived in Florida, my home was virtually next door to the local Miccosukee and Seminole tribes and I became friends with many of them. Believe me, they made it crystal clear that they wish to be referred to as Indians and not as Native Americans. They bitterly resented that term. That's partly true, but believe me there is a huge number of boys who really are gay and it's no problem finding them. There are plenty on the beach, plenty on Gay Romeo and other personals web sites. In the Pattaya bars you best bet is Sunee Plaza, although there are also plenty in the Pattayaland bars. Yes, the more feminine boys are almost invariably gay. I don't recommend relying on the mama-sans. There are too many unscrupulous mama-sans who will tell you anything to get you to take the boys off who give them the highest kickbacks. Believe me, you're not going to have any trouble finding as many truly gay boys as you want. When you come to Pattaya, if you feel more comfortable, I will be happy to take you around myself.

Note: I believe one of the names may be familiar to a number of you. For that reason I remind you that at this point these are allegations and nobody has been found guilty of anything. 3 Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Young Boys 5/12/2009 The Associated Press (AP) — BANGKOK - Two Swedish men and one British man were arrested Tuesday at a Thai beach resort town for alleged sexual abuse of young boys, police said. Police Maj. Gen. Chaiwat Ketworrachai said the men were arrested at their homes in Pattaya, 60 miles (100 kilometers) south of Bangkok, and were charged with sexually abusing children under the age of 15. He identified the suspects as Briton George Stanley Gibbs, 67, and Swedes Karl Erik Berglund, 60, and Lars Anders Ellerman, 65. Police did not release their hometowns. "We cannot give more detail before the cases are filed to the prosecutors," Chaiwat said, adding police confiscated sex toys, still and video cameras, computers and a nude album of young boys. If found guilty, the men could face up to 20 years in jail. Several Southeast Asian countries-including Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam-are popular with pedophiles because of lax law enforcement, corruption in the justice system, and poverty that forces children into prostitution. A number of high-profile suspects have been caught in Thailand, including a Canadian arrested in 2007 after an Interpol manhunt sparked by some 200 Internet photos showing him allegedly abusing Vietnamese and Cambodian boys. He was sentenced to eight years and three months in jail.

Many people have recommended Jim's in Pattaya. I don't recall the location, but maybe someone else knows where to find them. You can also ask Jim Lumsden at the Ambiance. I believe he knows. I've used a couple of the mom-and-pop shops and was very pleased with the results. The one I like best is on Third Road, shortly after the Central Road (Pattaya Klang) intersection heading in the direction of Pattaya Tai. I don't know how I could possibly describe where to find them, but if anyone wants to try them I'll be glad to take you there myself.

Once again, folks, I don't make these things up

Unfortunately, you're probably right about that. However, to my mind the incident is still quite bizarre for several reasons: If the woman was already known to them, how could they have known it was the same woman without checking? It wasn't necessarily a woman at all. It could have been a man with a higher pitched voice. It could have been a child. When asked why nobody checked, wouldn't it have made more sense to say they never heard her rather than saying they thought it was ghosts? Apparently thinking they were hearing ghosts is considered an acceptable reason. The spirit houses you see just about everywhere are there for a reason. A great many Thais really do believe in ghosts and they're afraid of them. They consider the spirits to be malevolent. No Caspar the Friendly Ghosts. The spirit houses are there because the belief is the evil spirits will inhabit those spirit houses rather than haunt their own homes. I remember one time when I had a young gentleman visiting. He refused to use my bathroom when the need arose. He was absolutely convinced ghosts were in there. Nothing I could say or do would convince him that it was perfectly safe to use the bathroom. I never did find out just why he thought my bathroom was haunted, but the rest of the house was perfectly safe, but that's a true story. -
I don't know about the price a tailor would charge, but the mom-and-pop seamstress shops usually charge between 300 to 400 baht per garment.

From among all the bizarre aspects of this story, to me the most bizarre is the fact that for five hours it never occurred to the police that the cries maybe, just maybe, are not coming from ghosts after all. This woman was just outside the police station, going through hell and crying for help all that time, and nobody gave a thought to at least having a look? It's a miracle both the mother and child survived. This one gets high ranking on my "I Don't Get It" list. -
The following appears in the PATTAYA DAILY NEWS: for photos, see: http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.p...NEWS=0000009199 _____ PATTAYA – MYSTERY WOMAN GIVES BIRTH IN THE RAIN – CRIES FOR HELP IGNORED On the 12th May a distressed Thai woman holding her new born baby cried for help outside the Sattahip police station from 2:00 in the morning. Police on duty ignored her, believing her cries to be emanating from a nearby spirit house. Mother and baby were eventually discovered at 7:00 am and after several hours of persuasion, mother reluctantly agreed to release the new born to the care of the rescue team for treatment at hospital. Sergeant Dumnern Insawat, the Sattahip police duty officer, said he was on duty during the night and the weather was bad with heavy rain, thunder and lightning. He heard the sound of a woman crying in front of the police station but he didn’t check it out because the sound actually came from the direction of a famous spirit house nearby. It wasn’t until 7:00 am in the morning that a woman was discovered sitting on the ground outside the station holding on tightly to her newborn child. The mother looked distraught and exhausted and the baby appeared weak and obviously required medical attention. Police provided a cloth to cover the baby and a rescue team from Sattahip was immediately summoned. On arrival they, in turn, requested the assistance of an ambulance and medical team from the Sirikit hospital. Meanwhile the mother had refused to hand over her child, and continued to hold on to the baby tightly. After 4 hours trying to convince her to release the baby, officials eventually used force to make her let go. Mother and baby were both taken to hospital for treatment where doctors stated that both mother and baby would survive. Witnesses told our reporter that the mystery woman had been around the area of the police station about 2 days before. She had also been seen walking about in the market and sometimes slept on the street.

Now that's an excellent alternative and I agree with it. When it comes to clothing, unless you're not happy without the actual brand name displayed (especially all the free advertising Tommy Hilfiger gets) the local tailors and the street seamstress shops do an outstanding job of making whatever you want at a fraction of the cost. Other than the fact that the brand name label is not present, you can't tell the difference. If you are skeptical, you might try having just one item made locally. If you are satisfied with the result, now you can get all you want.

I feel the same way. As a matter of fact I'm goddam sick of it. And it's not just the Brits. Every country in the world has and has had its problems, flaws, horrendous politicians, etc. I've said, and meant, that I am neither proud nor ashamed of being American. It is simply a fact and I'm tired of being the butt of insults because of it. It's bad enough that I have to be afraid to travel to certain parts of the world for no reason other than the fact that I was born and raised in the USA, but I don't think we have put up with people of other nations putting us down for no reason other than our nationality. So, very simple . . . I'm not going to put up with it and I'm going to say something about it no matter who decides to write that sort of post on this web site, blood pressure notwithstanding. I'll take care of my own blood pressure, thank you very much. Now I'll lighten up again.
-
Nothing wrong with my mood, but next time think about how what you are saying may be taken. Now I'll officially lighten up.

I hope nothing like that actually happened. So far I have not seen anything about it in any of the English language media, but whether it happened or not, fire safety does not seem to be one of the strong suits in very many bars and clubs. Even though the odds are that nothing will happen while you are in a bar, the very fact that it could happen is reason enough to be aware of escape routes and where you are sitting. There have enough tragic incidents in Thailand's night venues to warrant keeping fire safety in mind. GaySacGuy, if you see this message perhaps you can give everyone some safety tips, especially if you have advice about things most people don't even think of.

You've got me on that one. I have no idea. Perhaps someone else knows.

The good part is the work this man has done and is continuing to do. The bad part is that we're still living in times when his religious affiliation with regard to the source of his award is even a factor and is something the news media readily picks up on. -
Alleged Nazi Demjanjuk Cleared for Deportation
Gaybutton replied to Gaybutton's topic in The Beer Bar
Demjanjuk Deported to Germany (CNN) -- Nazi war crimes suspect John Demjanjuk was deported to Germany on Monday evening after he was removed from his Cleveland, Ohio-area home in the presence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers earlier in the day. An ambulance transported him to an airstrip at the Cleveland airport. The plane carrying Demjanjuk departed at 7:13 p.m. Demjanjuk, 89, is wanted by German authorities for his alleged involvement during World War II in killings at Sobibor, a Nazi death camp in Poland. His deportation closed a chapter in one of the longest-running pursuits of an alleged Holocaust perpetrator in history. It also sets the stage for what likely will prove to be an extraordinary German war crimes trial. The Supreme Court last Thursday denied a stay of deportation for Demjanjuk. Justice John Paul Stevens without comment refused to intervene in the planned transfer from the United States. Federal courts have all rejected his appeals, and the order from Stevens cleared the way for the Justice Department to move ahead with the deportation. Demjanjuk's lawyers had asked the high court to consider their claims that he is too ill and frail to be sent overseas. They also raised human rights and other legal issues in their last-minute appeal. A German court last Wednesday had also ruled against a request for a stay. Officials in Berlin have issued an arrest warrant charging Demjanjuk with being an accessory to the murder of about 29,000 civilians at Sobibor in 1943. The native Ukrainian has long claimed he was a prisoner of war, not a death camp guard. Immigration officers previously entered Demjanjuk's Cleveland-area home April 14, and carried him out in his wheelchair to a waiting van. He was held for a few hours and then returned to his residence after a federal appeals court ruled temporarily in his favor. Demjanjuk had appealed unsuccessfully to the Supreme Court last year. He was once accused by the United States and Israel of being a notoriously brutal S.S. guard at the Treblinka camp known as "Ivan the Terrible." After appeals, that allegation was eventually dropped by both countries, but later other allegations were made against him. _______________________________ The timing of this is just right. The deportation took place on the 49th anniversary of the Israeli Mossad's capture of Adolf Eichmann in Argentina - May 11, 1960: _____ (Sorry, I can't find the name of the author of this article.) On May 11, 1960 at 8:05pm, four Mossad agents abducted German citizen Ricardo Klement from a bus stop in Buenos Aires. He was shoved into a waiting car, his hands and feet tied together, and was blindfolded and gagged. The commandos then admonished their captive: "If you don't keep still, you'll be shot." Forty five minutes later, they arrived at the safehouse. There his captors satisfied themselves of the man's identity by referring to a list of distinguishing features taken from his World War II medical records. The man they had in custody was fugitive Nazi Adolf Eichmann. Given a choice between summary execution and a public trial in Jerusalem, Eichmann chose the trial. The operatives disguised him as an airline crewman, drugged him, and smuggled him aboard an El-Al flight bound for Israel. The next time his feet touched the ground, it was the runway tarmac in Tel Aviv. When the world learned of Eichmann's surreptitious extradition, it immediately sparked an international incident. Argentina expressed outrage over the violation of their sovereignty and demanded that he be returned at once. Israel promptly invited them to fuck themselves with a pineapple, and proceeded in April 1961 to begin legal proceedings against the war criminal. During the war, Eichmann worked in the Gestapo. In October 1934, Eichmann's first assignment in the Department of Research was looking into Freemasonry. Predictably, the Nazis believed that the Masons were assisting the Jews in their attempts to gain world domination. Eichmann's job was to compile information on prominent Freemasons in Germany. The next year, he was transferred to the Department of Jewish Affairs. Eichmann's enthusiasm for his new assignment was obvious. He taught himself Hebrew and Yiddish, and studied Jewish history and culture. In March 1938, he was appointed special officer for Zionist affairs. There he streamlined the Central Emigration Office, dramatically improving the efficiency of the process which stripped Jews of their possessions and issued them temporary passports, in order to expel them from Germany. Then Eichmann was sent to Austria to repeat his success there. In October 1939, Eichmann organized the forced deportation of Austrian and Czechoslovokian Jews to the ghettos. He also developed a plan to ship off four million Jews to Madagascar, but this strategy was abandoned in favor of a more permanent one. Eichmann arranged the secret Wannsee Conference, held in January 1942. Here the finishing touches were made to the final solution of the Jewish question. As Eichmann later conceded at trial: "The discussion covered killing, elimination, and annihilation." There Eichmann presented his report on the experimental use of truck-mounted gas chambers. Sort of like a fumigation tent on wheels. At the meeting it was agreed that this technique would be expanded for use on a massive scale. After Eichmann wrote up and circulated the meeting minutes, concentration camps were redesignated as death camps, and equipped with gas chambers and crematories. It was Eichmann's responsibility to solve the endless logistical problems involved in transporting Jews to the death camps. He traveled all over Europe to inspect the incredible undertaking and grease the wheels wherever necessary. In a 1944 communique to Heinrich Himmler, Eichmann estimated that the SS had killed about six million Jews. Later this letter would be presented as damning evidence at trial. On April 11, 1961 Eichmann was charged with crimes against humanity and crimes against the Jewish people. His trial was broadcast on TV (the first ever), and drew big worldwide ratings as the first reality television series. As a rule, court trials are pretty boring, but this one had some ingenious plot twists. At one point, Eichmann had the balls to claim that the forced emigration of the Jewish people was consistent with the aims of Zionism, making him a friend to Zionists. Probably the best moment was when the prosecution's star witness suffered a paralytic stroke on the stand and had to be rushed to a hospital. Eichmann's sole defense was claiming that he had been a petty government functionary, merely following the orders of superiors. His explanation failed to persuade the judges. On May 31, 1962, Eichmann was hanged in Ramleh prison. His body was cremated and the ashes scattered in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, beyond the territorial waters of the state of Israel. Eichmann's last words were reported as being: "Long live Germany. Long live Austria. Long live Argentina. These are the countries with which I have been most closely associated and I shall not forget them. I had to obey the rules of war and my flag. I am ready." -
It's next door to Tui's. The buildings are attached to each other.

Fortunately, it's extremely rare. I'm not certain I've ever heard of it happening on the gay scene at all. The most common occurrences are farang, usually Indian or Arabic for some reason, that pick up female or lady-boy street prostitutes.

Official: More than 1M Child Prostitutes in India NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- Around 1.2 million children are believed to be involved in prostitution in India, the country's federal police said Monday. Ashwani Kumar, who heads the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), told a seminar on human trafficking, that India occupied a "unique position" as what he called a source, transit nation and destination of this trade. India's home secretary Madhukar Gupta remarked that at least 100 million people were involved in human trafficking in India. "The number of trafficked persons is difficult to determine due to the secrecy and clandestine nature of the crime. "However, studies and surveys sponsored by the ministry of women and child development estimate that there are about three million prostitutes in the country, of which an estimated 40 percent are children," a CBI statement said. Prostitution in pilgrim towns, exploitation through sex tourism and pedophilia are some of some of the "alarming trends" that have emerged in recent years in India, it noted. Authorities believe 90 percent of human trafficking in India is "intra-country."

In other words, there are all kinds of different versions of the story. As for which one is the right one, take your pick. It doesn't really matter. For whatever reason, he's gone and that's that.

The Thai currency had strengthened because of the high current account surplus, and this had obstructed the country's export growth, Mr Korn said on Monday. He said the increase of oil excise tax would not affect the general public during the earlier stages because the government would use the money from the Oil Fund to support the tax hike. However, the government would have to allow the market mechanisms to operate naturally in the long run, the minister said. He said his ministry will propose the new land and property tax bill to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and the cabinet before deciding to proceed further.

Weren't you . . . . ? I seem to recall reading in the local news media, about a year or so ago, that some of the typical Walking Street prostitutes were spreading some sort of chemical on their breasts. When their victim would lick that area, the drug did it's thing and they woke up to find themselves robbed.

As long as the right person's brother-in-law is getting rich, you're probably correct. That seems to be the way just about everything works in Thailand.

I hope that's not the case. He worked there for many years and did not seem to be the type to do that sort of thing.
