There is a tall white guy working in a local coffee shop. About 6'4", must be well under 60kg and has jeans which look like they have been painted onto his legs. Christian, I don't have it down to a science I just use my eyes. I agree with you totally about fat. I go a little more for a skinny guy but not too far as I don't want to hug a pencil either. The example above is far too skinny for me. OMG 6'4" and under 60 KG, he must bend in the wind. But, we all have our tastes and thank God for that.

Well, then by not contributing to the "packed house" I'm doing my fellow punters a favor. Happy to oblige. Frankly, I felt that way when Jupiter 2000 opened for the Millenium where Moonlight is now. I guess I have just always felt that my boy next door type, with no arrogance and appreciative of me and what I can do, is more likely to be found in the smaller bars than by reaching for the stars. Forgive the pun.

I hope someone else has better knowledge about the shows. But, off hand, I would say you have a better chance of arranging a substitute for a show a day in advance than the actual night.
-
I've been doing it for thirty years in Bangkok and Pattaya.
-
I don't know Hank. But, there is something to be said for going and being seen as a regular by the staff, not to mention the guys.

Thanks, Tmax, I have wracked my brain - yes, the old Ramada. I see there are a lot of changes I have to check out.

The curious thing about fundamentalism is that in whatever religion it gains a foothold, the results are very similar. Well said Londoner. I might add that they are, almost without fail, hypocrites. The American comedian Bill Maher ten years ago released a film called "religulous" (as in ridiculous ) one hilarious scene is a store in Jerusalem where Orthodox Jews can purchase devices that dial phones, turn on lights, etc, that allow them to use these devices on the Sabbath despite interpretations of Torah law. In other words, how can we cheat God by skirting the commandments? They clash with the army because they will not fight in the army but every make has an Uzzi in the settlements. By the way, I believe it is every type of fundamentalism, I'm just an old New Yorker more familiar with Judaism.

Siam Heritage on Suriwongse Rd opposite the Le Meridien and next to Tarntawan. Bob, it's been 7 years since I stayed in Bangkok, but isn't the Siam Heritage the one that, in the 90's, was an American Chain Hotel ( I forget which ) right across from Soi Tan Tawan? How could it be next to the Tarnatawan which I thought was/is on the Patpong side on the road?

Eg skip work and meet me at a non gogo bar or at my hotel? I may not be in the mood to sit through a whole show, knowing already who I will off. Do I offer to compensate for the bar fine and loss of show earnings on top of tip? I have never keep in touch because the performers change. They go home, they're not Thai and on a Visa run, etc. But, even when I know who I'm going to off I always go to the bar and pay the off. What I don't get is why you feel obligated to sit through the show or any part of it, why? In fact, I might pay the off fee the night before and have him come to the hotel for dinner, movie, etc

reserving seats for preferred customers Once again, thank you Vinapu. I wish we could do a Vulcan mind meld. Each time you post I earn something new. Now, I know I won't need to check out Jupiter. I would not abide this........... yes, their right to do, my right to stay away.

Excuse my curiosity by why the hell you care who owns the bar and hotel, I'm just curious? Terry, Forgive me but I'm curious as well. You see to get fixated on themes. First, African types, then use of words like "boy" then on to the Philippines. These themes permeate across several threads then go away. Are you not having a good time? I mean, with thirty years of Thailand under my belt I have never worried who owned a bar as long as the "guys" are there.
-
Thanks! It has been so long Foodland did not have a restaurant when I was last in Bangkok.
-
Speaking of stairs, there used to be a bar with the same owner under Dreamboys - is there anything there now?
-
Recently, I heard that they no longer want Gay clientele and that the breakfast is no longer good. As I'm staying there in January I hope you can shed some light on this.
-
Hank, got it. Sorry, I had misunderstood. I took your note to mean that after you asked the Mamasan sent over whom she wanted - for whatever reason. Sadly, there are so very few I trust......... But, your answer prompts me to ask that you look at my new thread regarding Dreamboys. You sound ideally equipped to help.
-
For the last seven years, I have been going to Pattaya directly from BKK and have lost touch with things in Bangkok. Dreamboys was my favorite bar, high quality and well run. No one seems to mention it anymore. Does anyone have an update?
-
Sadly the mamasan had other ideas and hustled in another model to sit with us. Mamasan would have been in for one rough time with me over this. Why did you allow it?

Tony Dow, Tim Considine, Don Grady, Luke Halpern (flipper) - I have to check out Perry Mason. You must love Vancouver - is the Fish House still open? I had a fabulous meal there.

Dear Husband wants to move to Thailand eventually. My one fear about it is not having that kind of community. It does seem though, that many of you living there have developed a pretty good group, but I think vinapu's comments also make a great deal of sense. I've seen Westerners retire with their Thai BF to some country community and, personally, I think it a mistake. You'll need a local expat community to buttress you with your cultural needs and locally sourced advanced healthcare. If you move, consider that.
-
And, why would you need him to stand? I'm entering another childhood. Or, at least, reliving my own. Do you recall, or just google, the fifties shows Leave it to Beaver and MY three Sons? Tim Considine and Tony Dow. OMG.
-
Really? I think we agree more than you think on both.
-
Have you seen Timothee Chalamet from the movie "call me by your name" - the quintessential twink? Also, google Milo Mannheim from the Disney movie Zombies. He's also on this season's dancing with the Stars in the US. I tape it and only watch Milo - 6'3" and adorable. I tend to think that the more muscular the body mass the less twinkish - there is a line between a hunky twink like the lad on the left and the end of twinkdom.
-
OK. Actually, both are fine for me as well. That's why I referenced the NY Times article. The left one is a hunky twink.
-
Two lefts don't make one right. Witty, I confess I don't get this at all. What do you mean?
-
Well, Tmax I differ slightly but significantly. To me, the on the left is a twink - perhaps the new hunkytwink described in the Times article. The one on the left is OK - but a little underweight for me, still a twink.
