Further drop in the value of the British Pound

Think about the expats who's pensions are now suddenly 20% less in Thai baht -
You guys need to live out in the sticks. I live in a village in Isaan and when I need a massage a (I guess) 50 year old Cambodian lady who is a thin as a stick comes around to the house. She is amazing always finding and treating the spot and working on it. I pay 300 baht for 2 hours (no tip), I had started by paying 500 until my partner told me it was far to much and I would be creating a false market for the rest of the village

First Trip to Bangkok...Suggestions Welcome...
traveller123 replied to Badboy81's topic in Gay Thailand
Several years ago before I got with my partner I offed a guy in one of the Pattaya go go bars who was clearly over 18 so I didn't think I had any reason to inspect his ID. When I got back with him to my hotel, reception asked for his ID (which I rather like as it's for my and other guests security). He said he had lost it , he was not therefore allowed to stay. So always check your guy ( very hot or not) has ID -

I left a review on the 29th December on Trip Advisor for The Agate, I've never stayed at The Poseidon so I can't comment. I stayed at The Agate with my partner, several other guests were eating breakfast with a different boy on different mornings so joiners must not have been a problem.

December 2017 my partner and I are going North with my straight cousin and his wife when they come over to Thailand on holiday. I can't comment if they are gay friendly but I like the look of Bed Phrasingh Hotel in Chiang Mai for 3 nights. I'm looking at also spending 3 nights in Pai and 3 nights in Chiang Rai if anyone has hotel or good guest house recommendations.

Perhaps i will be an example of why someone might need an SUV. Next Christmas my partner and I will be meeting two friends at Swampy and then we will go to Koh Samet. They will be tired after a flight from the UK, so four people and their luggage are going to need an SUV or mini bus. Any recommendations?

Thanks. My partner and I have just celebrated 8 years together. He has had several UK visas and one Spanish visa four years ago obtained at the Consulate in Edinburgh but all of these were before our UK Civil Partnership. Unfortunately the Spanish Embassy in Bangkok has a reputation for making life difficult, but I have to say the agency the Embassy uses to process applications are trying to be helpful. We will submit the application on February 20th (I like to be organised)

When I am speaking to someone for the first time I say "May I speak English?" I just think it sounds better, although I had never considered "Do you speak English?" as likely to cause offence. Abangs situation is different as it should have been obvious he spoke English, but being charitable the lady could have been nervous meeting him for the first time and spoke without really realising that what she said may have upset him.

Ok I have tried very hard to resist asking for the pictures. But I am just too weak. Please could I have them too? Thanks

I am planning a visit from Thailand to Spain/UK/Belgium/France with my Thai partner in May 2017. I am a UK national and my partner and I have a UK registered civil partnership. As usual the good old UK will screw us for his UK tourist visa. But my question is: If I have read the Spanish visa requirements correctly there will be no charge for a visa for an EC nationals spouse or civil partner. Has anyone experience of applying for a Schengen/Spanish visa in such circumstances?

I always enjoy The Circle in Chiang Mai although when I was last there in January 2016 there were a lot of Chinese ladies who the lads on stage were aiming for

Gay Companions and Tour Guides in Thailand
traveller123 replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Contrasting thoughts on this. On one side my partner, (and I understand a lot of Thai guys), enjoys cooking and is a wonderful cook and he would always think that he could prepare Thai food better than anyone else. But for Farangs not partnered, and living or staying in Bkk or Pattaya there could be a market -
Please, please, take it very slowly and make sure you truely know the guy but talking about a move to Europe

Moses I think you are trying to drive our single (and some partnered) guys crazy -
If you want a chill out few days I like Luang Prabang in Laos. No gay scene (that we could find), not too much to see but the town itself just has a really nice feel about it. I recommend Manda De Laos restaurant for a romantic if expensive dinner with your husband - go and make a reservation and choose a table at the front overlooking the lotus ponds. Flights with Air Asia from Don Muang are usually keenly priced. Also Bali is about a 4 hour flight from Bangkok, don't be put off by it's reputation as the Aussie Party Capital there is a lot to see with a good guide (I can recommend one)

Interesting Abang, My partner also dislikes the Mainland Chinese who he says are rude, loud, pushy and dont know how to behave. I am sure the older Brits on here can remember the 1960s/70s when similar remarks were made about Brits on the Spanish Costas
