With the smiles of the money boys and other nice Thais we cross everywhere it is easy to forget that there is a repressive regime in place. To give lashes to some immature tourists who exposed their butts in a temple? Is this so different from the case of the American tourist in N. Korea who was caught removing a political pamphlet and thrown in jail which caused his death? I rather choose to live in a country with good individual rights.

This is right. I was kind of ambiguous writing that Malaysia and Babylon are about the same distance from Silom.

The Malaysia is at about the same distance from Silom as Babylon, which is not more than an easy walk for us young people.

Pattaya was my first destination ever in LOS, in 2005. I went from the BKK airport straight to the Ambiance hotel in Boys Town and stayed there for two days. Had there my first and only off, very successful. But BKK was more interesting to me because I have always been a gay sauna person. Now I am at a stage where I want to try out moneyboys, therefore I'm inclined to include Pattaya in my future trips. I will only need city transport when bars are too far from hotel to walk, and then a city bus may help.

My first visit to Babylon was in 2005 and the last one in 2016. I haven't seen much difference in the 11 years in between. It is still clean enough that I find no reasons to complain. It gets good quality customers, and if there are more old farangs now it may be that it became more famous and we have the money to go there. And I see no reasons why it should change. Its owner is a wealthy farang which has it asa his pet project, and why would he let it come down? His employees have been with him forever and know all the skills of the trade. It must make changes like every place, and some may be more successful than others, but nothing seems in the way for mistakes to be corrected and keep improving. Why would the Chinese "bring back the luster"? If I were a young Thai, I would much prefer older farangs in good shape over fat Chinese...

The more I read about Pattaya the more inclined I am to make it my primary destination (with Babylon second) in any future trip to LOS. This comes with a more liberal view of moneyboys. I'm in little need of temples, fine restaurants, impressive buildings, spectacular events, or cultural experiences that don't involve the culture, cultivation of pleasure.

Time is a valuable commodity and to give one's time deserves compensation (money). What is done for compensation can be called "work". Time is also a common measure of work, with salaries paid by the hour, the day, the month. So many public employees are paid by the month, even if they do nothing or do negative work... Compared to them, the companionship of Cambodian moneyboys can be much more deserving

Me. As a veteran traveler (34 trips overseas, 7 of them to Thailand) I have never set foot at the Malaysia hotel. Instead I have visited Malaysia 11 times (does this count?)

(this is from an elaborate analysis since I've never been in Tawan... but I can imagine)

Clients of money boys should be all over the world. Why cannot the Cambodians (and others) come the the US instead of us having to go to Thailand? I know, it's the immigration laws. Too bad you checked out so fast. You must not have enjoyed the communal breakfast: a large room with two large tables where gays sit around for an hour enjoying a good buffet breakfast and chatting about gay and traveler topics... like this forum but at a breakfast table. Another plus is the free, sometimes privileged, entry to the sauna, with unlimited exit/return. And the shared bathroom in each floor is no hardship, not even having to leave the room to use it. It can become a playing ground for those over excited during the night. The rooms have doors with locks of course, but one night I accidentally left mine unlocked and a young guy came in looking for company and he found it, and we continued from there in the shared bathroom and someone else's room. Not a unique experience but something nice to remember, something one does not find at the Malaysia or Raya hotels. For this, I'm willing to do away with in-room TV, which I seldom watch anyway.
