  1. I agree. I wish UA still would serve that segment. About alcoholic beverages, I discovered some time ago that drinking several little bottles of red wine with the idea of sleeping throughout the flight didn't help. So now I switched to another extreme and my drink during flights is... milk! I know, it's a shame, but milk is more nutritious than water, has no bacteria from the plane, and I like it. But with ANA I get an anticipated lust seeing the slim Asian attendants, a change from the fat unattractive people I see every day in my country.
  2. I am also curious. I fly this segment often since I mostly fly United and they stopped covering this segment. In my opinion, ANA is not great, but it is better than United (this is not a great recommendation). At least ANA still serves free alcoholic beverages while shabby cheepy United charges for them. And the slim flight attendants of ANA are nicer to look at than the fat ugly ones of United.
  3. Hahaha... the same happens in a gym. When we are young and we have a bad day (not able to lift as heavy as we want), we look for reasons like we didn't sleep enough last night. Later in life, if we have a bad day, immediately comes to mind "I'm getting old". To be able to laugh-off this "getting old" does a lot in keeping young.
  4. vinapu, I read your full trip report and it left me in awe. I thought that so much activity could only be had by a superman, even as a teenager I'm not sure I could keep up like that. Then I read that you don't make every encounter a heavy fucking event, and this agreed very much with me. I find that there is much, much sex to be had without copulation, instead it can be endless mutual playing with eventually a super climax by the boy that one feels like it is one's own. So this takes care of the natural limitations... I usually visit BKK for two weeks, and I am attracted to their gay saunas. Not because the sex there is free, but because it is not a sure thing and I have to work hard on the seduction and accept being seduced, and this is a gift for my ego when I score big. It's the excitement of the chase, and the enjoyment of the prey. A feeling of satisfaction even if ending with empty hands, maybe without gain but also without loss. But reading your report I started doing some math. If during the two week vacation I engage 30 boys, either by massage or offing, and taking a rough figure of US$ 100 per boy, this adds up to $3,000. Even if I can afford it, I would never accept to pay $3,000 extra for flying in business/first class instead of economy. I rather give that extra money to charity. My assss can take a 24 hour trip in economy without problems. But here I am looking at two weeks in heaven for $3,000, and this seems a bargain, very good value! While I feel that $3,000 is a waste for sleeping instead of sitting in the plane, the enjoyment of 30 selected boys is not! How about the morality of buying sex?? The 30 boys are happy to find customers, this is what they want, and the money they receive is spread quite thin among many people, so it can do a lot of good. Something quite different than giving it to the shareholders of airline stocks. I like the idea of massage boys because it does not feel as crude prostitution as the offing of go-go boys. But I have a problem: I don't like to be massaged, to have someone fool around with my body. I think that a healthy body does not need massage, and I don't want someone to take the trouble working hard on that what I don't need. I may be able to overcome this by rationalizing that this work is what gives someone a job, a way to make a living. This is what I think when I buy unhealthy cookies from girl scouts to help their cause. And maybe if I accept to be massaged, I will start enjoying it and be able to judge when it is good or bad. vinapu, I appreciate learning from the experience of others, and I will give some serious thought about following in your steps and discover still untried exciting pleasures in BKK. Only one concern still lingers. I try to stay away from unsafe sex, I am a top when the occasion asks for it, and then I use protection, keep risk of the most serious STDs relatively low. So far in all my encounters in Asia, and there have been many, i have never caught anything. But people in BKK cannot be so different than in other places and be totally free of illness. The probability of infection raises proportionally with the number of encounters. How you evaluate this in the scheme of continuous contact with sex workers, who go from one customer to the other?
  5. The age distribution of Asians at Babylon varies from young adults to middle aged, but It is significantly younger than the age of Caucasians. At the barracks there are often couples of young Asians who visit from nearby countries. They go next door to the sauna and visit other gay places, and relate their experiences at the breakfast table. At the sauna one finds some young Thais who want to acquaint Caucasians. It is common to see a senior accompanied by a young Thai, both very happy, and rather than odd this makes one think: "I hope to do the same when I am old". They are together by the pool, at the restaurant, maybe at the gym... and other places. There is a community of retired seniors and some not so seniors who are loyal customers of Babylon, staying there for extended visits several times a year, and they are proud of their boys. Younger Caucasians, 30 - 40 y.o. also are returning customers and may have their local friends. I know one who has a lover that works nearby and stays overnight with him when he is in town, and he helps the boy and his family. Many guests are of good middle class who travel a lot and have no financial concerns. So there is motivation for attractive young locals to come to the sauna and even roam the barracks. It happened to me once that I forgot to lock my room, and I woke up middle in the night when a young local opened the door looking for fun. I was nice and invited him in, and after some doing we ventured out to the large common restroom, where we met a gay taking a late shower who joined us in the fun. There are in town various gay saunas today that periodically stage events that are actual orgies. You can look in travelgayasia.com. under "Bangkok" and "saunas".
  6. Very good! If so, it has moved a little closer to Babylon where I usually stay. I have frequently eaten at this restaurant and I have always liked the food and the friendliness of Vincent and his servers. It seems that now I will have to walk some two blocks less...
  7. To remedy the noise factor, have you tried to sleep with some good noise-insulating ear buds in your ears? I do this when I want to sleep in a noisy environment like in an airport (with expensive ear buds that stopped working but insulate well, after cutting off the cord), where I also use eye shades for a reasonable experience.
  8. After reading about the sauna DejaVu, including the reviews by Christian FPC, I decided to be venturous and make a visit to this place on their event on Thursdays. I took the MRT to the Latprao station, then took one of the buses that runs along this long Latprao street, counting the elevated overpasses (which I had researched on Google Earth) to exit the bus close to the soi 122. I got there at 7PM and checked in with the nice attendant that spoke good English. This was a nude night, and I went on exploration through the multiple levels, pondering the local flesh. Soon I found my place among other bodies who congregated to be part of the fucking event by the nude staff. I found this very exciting, and I was practically the only farang among the local thais (and maybe other Asians that I could not identify). I got in this mini-orgy twice at two different places. I found nothing special among the local guests except the staff, who I simply fondled to my content, but most were attractive with few ugly bodies. I paired twice with local gays and had the satisfaction to do what I came to do there. I left close to 11 PM to take back the bus and MTR before they stopped for the night and returned to Babylon for a well deserved night of sleep. On the next Thursday I made a similar visit, this time with a pal from the Babylon barracks, and we took the MTR to Petchabury, and from there the Khlong boat to the Saphan Mit pier (as researched on transitbangkok.com, and we walked along soi 122 all the way to Dejavu (a good libido enhancing exercise). The experience was similar to my first one, and we returned by bus along the Latprao road, since the Klong boats stop in the early evening. My pal was well impressed with the experience, as was I, and Dejavu is now on my list of saunas to visit regularly on Thursdays.
  9. Yes, it is either that, or it is a skill / pleasure that must be acquired. I tried it once and it didn't work for me. I think I'll leave the cultivation of bottoming for my next life.
  10. One of the benefits of having acquaintances that are seniors is that one gains good insight into this phase of life. While acquaintance with the young can be a good source of sex, acquaintance with the old is a source of wisdom. I have observed that when we age we slow down. We take more time for the same task. And it so happens that the days become shorter, and the time available gets significantly reduced. Retired people, contrary to the belief that they get bored for lack of things to do, often run out of time to do all what they want to do and especially, all what they ENJOY doing. So as we age, time becomes more precious, the one commodity that is at the top of the scale of value. With this in mind, I am willing to significantly reduce my standard of living in exchange for gaining the totality of my life time for myself. No more concern for going on the road through traffic to serve a fixed number of working hours, no more difference between work days and weekends. Every day I will go to the gym, go to the store and other places at off hours, free of traffic and crowds. I will still go up early in the morning and be done with regular chores by mid-morning except cooking my meals throughout the day. All days will be stress-free and able to provide my eight hours of sleep. I will dedicate much time to my hobbies of music, playing the piano, discussing online about religion and politics. I feel fortunate to live in a time of increasing technology as I approach my senior years. A good internet connection, wide screen TV, a good desk top, excellent audio, and the world comes into my home to entertain me. All of this is relatively inexpensive. And all of this is available in Bangkok at reasonable price, really a bargain compared with living in the US. But if I decide to stay in the US, I can still mix all the above with the "Bangkok hobby" mentioned by an earlier poster and make frequent trips to sin in this attractive city and other cities with gay life like KL and SG. I enjoy traveling, and long intercontinental flights don't bother me. I don't dream of having ever a problem of "staying busy". I will never have to sit at the town's square feeding the pigeons and watching people pass by. Instead, I hope that without working I will stay so busy that I keep lamenting that the day has only 24 hours, until my last breath.
  11. I find the above suggestions for tips quite reasonable. I would never try to save money on tips. If I want to save, I rather don't eat in restaurant or take the taxi. Also, I try to not let the mood of the server or my liking for him influence my tipping, unless it is an uncommon service. I am not a good material for being a God, who demands adoration and worship from all humans.
  12. I think that the answer depends on the interpretation of "happening" and for whom it happens. In general sense, I give the place No. 1 to Babylon, not only in BKK but among all other cities I have visited, which are many. One can be entertained in the sauna for a whole afternoon, and if we take the combined experience of the sauna and the lodging at its barracks it could become a nearly self-sufficient place to stay without leaving for a couple of days. (for those who are low-key and want much rest free of stress. I find that their foam parties are the best value for the one-time visitor. But Babylon is not a place for orgies, although they have a decent cruising area with hot saunas, rooms, but nudity is limited. When the "happening" means exclusively the experience of sex, with good probability to score to full satisfaction, I think the No 1 place is Sauna Mania on its nude nights on Thursdays and Sundays around 7PM. They have a decent little gym too, but once the sex is over there is no reason to stay around. So it offers good sex in a time efficient way at a reasonable cost. (all this is from the perspective of a somewhat older Caucasian in good shape, not too picky but with some standards)
  13. This may be an indication that we are living for others, not for ourselves. Even in the case of sacrificing for the future, we are living for our self in the uncertain future, instead of living for our self today. I'm glad to find like thinking people...
  14. Then those teaching jobs could pay your bar tab for ten days a month. Your teaching five days a week could cover your pleasure of drinking during the whole weekend.
  15. I have also discovered that traveling alone is the best way to vacation. This comes with the realization that solitude is not loneliness, and there is no shame in being alone. We can always share our experiences with a good company: our camera or cell phone taking pictures, videos. Ah... the freedom to do what one pleases, without need for consensus. Often this means not planning at all but choosing among multiple desirable activities. No disagreements, no fights, no quarrels, no giving up to please the companion, no embarrassment, no shyness. Hopefully you are kind and console your friends whose obligations don't allow them to go with you and don't make them feel bad for breaking your heart. Afterwards, allow your heart to fill with joy at the perspective of going away into the world completely free.
  16. I fully agree with you. We should also live in the present and not only for the future. I'm guilty as hell in this respect because I have lived mostly in a differed compensation mode where I didn't mind sacrificing today for a better life tomorrow. This is why I take example in people like you and others who are not willing to sacrifice the most precious commodity of all: TIME. Working, working, working and no time to enjoy life even when this is possible. Now I am all for early retirement if circumstances permit. And one of the goals I see in it is to preserve and enhance our health and good looks by having time to do all what this requires. When we retire the cost of living goes down too. One can put aside material ambitions and reduce expenses to a reasonable minimum, and then the money is there. I observe that many retired people ENJOY their frugality even if they have plenty of income, and they keep saving from their income to add to their retirement funds. But they have the ability to SPEND the money for their enjoyment when there is the time for that and get the maximum value out of it. A retired person can become a smart traveler who has the time to research his trips and choose the most cost effective ways of traveling and lodging. Luxuries become dumb and out of the question. A healthy senior does not need to be pampered. Who is there to impress? A retired person who tries to impress the attractive young through extravagant spending is ridiculous. It is better to impress with a well kept body and hear "you must be 20 years younger than what you say you are..." and "what you do to keep in the shape you are?..."
  17. Congratulations. I know a person who retired at 57 and I see this as an example of having the right priorities. Even more in your case. He is in good financial situation with a pension that would be generous in a place like Thailand. His priorities shifted from work to "working on himself". Healthy habits of eating well and exercising, no stress, plenty of sleep, and a full day occupation with hobbies and personal interests. Not desperate for sex, therefore he remains in his original country the US, but being in top shape he remains competitive in this area too.
  18. Thanks. I have been reading ChristianFPC's blog for some time, and he has very interesting reviews. I would like to get some more opinions of course, reflecting other experiences by people with different preferences.
  19. I visited BKK during Songkran last year, and I had a good time. With great expectations I purchased on their website a ticket to one of the gCircuit pool parties. On the day and time, I took the BTS to the closest station and walked to the location of the party. On the way I was soaked several times by the naive players on the street, which I didn't mind after I wisely reasoned that punching them in the face would only get me in trouble. Once at the place, I did the formal check-in and got some stuff, and then walked to the pool with the crowd. I was fortunate to find some shade and sit down to eat the snacks I had brought. NOTHING I saw was out of the ordinary (in gay sense) and the few acts I saw did not motivate me to give up my cozy sitting place. After about an hour, I decided that I had had at least a fraction of my money worth and I returned to the BTS, this time without any more soaking incidents. When I returned to Babylon, where I was staying, I had a little rest and then I went next door to the foam party where, OH YEAH, I had great visual, sentient and climatic experiences.
  20. The saunas typically frequented by visitors, like Babylon, Chakran, Sauna Mania, R3, have plenty of comments, reviews. But others, a little further away from the gay scene and frequented nearly exclusively by local gays seem to shy away from tourism and keep to themselves, and it is rare to find comments about them. For example, east on the Ramhamhaeng area is DejaVu with their fucking staff, the spooky Farose II, and the remote Muffill. While north on Ratchayothin is Cruising with its mask parties and what not. Being a Caucasian visitor, I would like to exchange information about these places with whichever adventurous foreigner who had some experiences there, the good and the bad.
  21. It may not be a choice, but the result of experience. The only time I was a bottom I hated it and never tried it again. So I must be missing a lot of pleasure, but I'm quite satisfied by climaxing as a top or by other means. About the young gay who does not get hard, it is difficult to imagine that he never gets hard and masturbates himself, unless his libido is totally absent. In this case, the advise to consult with a doctor is wise. Or he is too shy to have sex with someone else, something more difficult to remedy.
  22. If in your SIXTIES you are a sex tourist multiple times a year with the objective to have sex with boys that are much younger than you, then you must have done something right in your life. I know so many men in their sixties that are long past their age to have the pleasure of sex with people of their own age (usually still their wives), much less with young people. I think you are a good role model, and we could welcome some of your good advise.
  23. In my first visit to BKK I stayed at the Tarntawan. Nice hotel, not much different from any other hotel. During this first visit I went to Babylon sauna and a guy that I had fun with invited me to his room upstairs at the "barracks". We didn't exit the sauna but climbed up through the spiral staircase. i liked the ambiance and the idea of being so close to the action. So on my second visit I decided to be daring, and I made reservations to stay for one week at the barracks. After a few days I liked the place so much that I extended my stay to a second week and cancelled a second reservation I had made at a regular hotel. Since then, every time I visit the city, the Babylon is my home away from home. I know quite well its advantages and disadvantages, and I am a person who likes good value. Advantages: It is a place with character and elegance, very well maintained. The rate is low, considering the extras that come with the room: a good buffet breakfast, free entry to the sauna with two passes per room (a pass is a nice gift to local friends from a single traveler), comfortable rooms without private bathroom but instead a large shared room in every floor with showers, sinks and toilets which reinforce the feeling of "gay community", free internet, and a well equipped gym and two decent restaurants at the sauna. Possible disadvantage: the place is in an isolated area in a nice part of the city removed from the noise of Silom but not too far from it, and at reasonable distance from Lumpini park. People in good health will not have problems walking to the MTR or BTS. I have walked many times to Sauna Mania without concern for the lack of public transportation after midnight. Now when I visit BKK I can settle in with my eyes closed. Arriving during the night at Suvarnabhumi I take in the morning the airport local train, transfer to the MRT at Phetchebury and exit it at Lumpini, from where I walk to Babylon, where I have a late breakfast and later head to the sauna. In every stay I find people that I had met in previous trips at the breakfast room, which is a good social place to exchange information with other savvy travelers.
  24. As a guest at the Babylon barracks you get your room's key on a chain that includes a tag to open the door at the entrance to the building. Nobody is standing there to check who you bring with you to your room. You can go in and out the 24 hours of the day. I have stayed there several times and I don't find anything negative to comment about. The communal bathrooms/showers in each of the three floors are convenient and well maintained. There is no need of absolute privacy in a place like this, and the lack of it can be fun! The breakfast place is large and offers a good variety of foods. It lends itself to good socializing with other guys, and this can be a valuable source of information from those who have experience and know their way around Bangkok. The location of the place is not too inconvenient. It has the advantage of being in a more quiet part of town, and it is reachable by foot from the MRT (Lumpini station) and Silom. I have walked many times from Babylon to Sauna Mania and back, and constantly from Babylon to the MRT. For those less inclined to walk, trips on motocycles are easily available and not expensive.
  25. Thanks Connosseur. I am a patient guy. I will be in BKK on a weekend and I want to have a great time with the local crowd. So my question is about a place that offers the best chance, and what time of the day or night. I heard good things about Cruise 1, also about DejaVu and Muffill. Any information will be heartily welcomed.
