  1. This is sad, but a reality of online forums in general. By participating in a forum, we leave something behind when the forum closes. The French have a name: "pettite mort", which although has the meaning of orgasm, can fit here too.
  2. Even prepaid cars need a central registry where their intrinsic value is accounted for. As for souls, which by definition are something supernatural, a supernatural dimension is needed if they are supposed to move from one natural body to another.
  3. Buddhism is non-theistic but not atheistic. After all, the personal books of karma (how much one earns by chanting "buddha" for example) need some intelligent accounting. The mechanism of karma needs supernatural oversight. If you don't like to call this "divinity" you can call it something else.
  4. You are upset because vinapu does not share your level of "respect". But do you respect his idea of what such respect should be? And would you respect my idea that we members of the human family should share some equality? Why should the person who was the Thai King receive endless honors while other persons are thrown in a common grave on death?
  5. I know little about the Theravada Buddhism or other religions in Thailand, but, would their divinities provide a better afterlife to a person if more money is spend on earth to honor them on death? This does not sound... very spiritual, but, who am I to judge ?
  6. In her days, all sex was DIRTY (except that of people married by the church who tried to procreate...) Fortunately, this is changing.
  7. Hope your grandma is not turning around in her grave...
  8. In those days, dirty old men were not so openly bragging as today...
  9. Like what it says in the packages of food products. The FDA has revoked the claim that soy is good for the heart! What can we believe anymore? Maybe the fact that we can avoid foods that may produce cancer by not eating anything at all.
  10. And how you accomplish that? vitamins for the brain?
  11. Think about the terrorist attacks in Bali by Muslim militants, the worst in 2002 in front of a nightclub that left over 200 dead...
  12. So many times have I found myself blaming my bf, the person I live with, for things that I miss. And so many times it has been me who misplaced them. So I'm working strong on my resolution... not to blame!
  13. I don't know... ask the reader. First he is paranoid about the thread going off topic, then he asks precisely for that.
  14. It is usually difficult in the U.S. to view a film from an international film festival, unless it has mass appeal. And here in the U.S. we are now living in real time what could be a political conspiracy film. In this days it is about the four U.S. soldiers killed in a patrol team in Niger. And about a condolence call made by the president. And about a black congresswoman with a big hat who criticized this call. And about a chief of staff general who bashed the congresswoman. And we don't know where we are in the film and how long it will last.
  15. I am hungry for nice young Spanish boys like one sees in their parades and saunas, so "Madrid" brought a different image to mind.
  16. I would never get a heart attack over the fate of a restaurant, no matter how tasty their pizzas, believe me! Thank God you survived. But I was somewhat disappointed to see that this thread "The legendary Madrid" did not deal with the gay life in the capital of Spain, a very gay friendly nation. I still have to visit Madrid, I have only been in Barcelona and the city Sidges on the Mediterranean, a very gay-ish resort. I know nothing about gogo boys there, but the gays I met there were very nice. Latinos are my second choice after Asians.
  17. How about being kissed by someone who takes much alcohol (gin and other)? Like kissing a drunk? Oh, maybe the alcohol kills the mouth bacteria...

    Jet Lag

I feel the same way. The less I pay attention to the 12 hours difference between BKK and the US the less I'm aware of jet lag.
  19. Yes, prostitutes can also "get stolen" imponderable things and can feel justified making up for that. "Dishonesty" is hard to define, but whoever is free of sin can throw the first stone.

    Jet Lag

From jet lag to quality of sleep? One thing that helps quality of sleep is to have a clean conscience.
  21. It is strange that some cannot tolerate one drop of petty theft but dive in a sea of prostitution. I had one acquaintance of my friend come to my house while I was gone, and thereafter I noticed one very valuable object stolen. Then this acquaintance (his childhood friend) talked him pests of me trying to get my friend to move in with him, and this confirmed my suspicion that he was the thief. My friend was so disgusted that the acquaintance wanted him to drop me and move with him against my friend's convenience, that he drop the acquaintance. I never mentioned one word about the theft to my friend. Until he recently showed intentions to contact him again, at which time I revealed what he had stolen, and that convinced him. I saw no need to make a scandal and accusations, it would have been my word against his. And I was not really upset. That object didn't make a difference in my life. One advantage of being senior is that one recognizes the weakness of the human spirit.
  22. They don't have a makeup for the water.
  23. I once ate some stuff at the food court in Central World mall. Horrible!
  24. I can believe that Thailand has a high death rate for visitors... especially for seniors at the hands of... or rather with the hands on 20 y.o.'s All that unusual sudden exercise added to the emotional rise in blood pressure. World wide, over 50 million people die every year. So the death of Australian tourists in LOS should not make a big dent.
  25. Good that fundoshi are worn by Japanese and not by Americans. Here in our obese society it would be a disaster. Even if the loincloth bring out little of the frontal attraction of these Japanese boys, the view of their seductive buns in motion is quite uplifting.
