In my experience no. They start in underwear or briefs, but later those come off at some point during the massage or the fun stuff. If it's important to you, then the only way to make sure is to tell the manager what you want at the time you book the massage.

Without getting involved in the debate over how original/derivative the design is, here's a video posted on Facebook showing the new terminal at Swampy, scheduled for 2020 completion. https://goo.gl/toZwbQ

Based on the headline, I thought it was an article about Screwboys. Interesting nevertheless.

if you don't want to lose a Line photo or video you can save it to "Keep".

sorry you had a bad experience there. Senso = consistently inconsistent (why I skip it).

Just to add to that in Bangkok Gay Romeo isn't the only app where opportunities to meet regular (non-money boy) guys can be found. Hornet is also an easy place to meet guys. I'm sure Grindr is but I always think of that as more for short-term hookups.

Bangkok Gogo show bars - report and questions
DivineMadman replied to Jimbillp's topic in Gay Thailand
I 100% agree that we all have different tastes, which is a delight or we'ld all be fighting over the same guys. I don't quite agree on paying more attention to prices/shows/mamasans. Particularly as to mamasans, if you let them get to you then YOU are responsible for that. It is really easy to politely dismiss them. You control whether you let them get to you not. A smile and a "no" is all you need to do. (Admittedly, once the unctuous mamasan at X-Size overcharged me for drinks I didn't buy, so he and the bar are forever dead to me. But the typical ones who are saying "buy me drink" or "Tip for me" are just part of the local color.) -
Thanks for the kind words. I remember when you could always just walk in to get a massage at Prime, no appointment necessary. Word got out. Now it is definitely a good idea to book ahead. Still great massages. When it's a gay party long weekend I always end up there for a leg massage or two just to watch the parade of young guys from all over Asia having a holiday massage. Glad you're having a good time and do keep up the reports. I think a bunch of us start migrating back to Thailand soon and, certainly for me, it's helping kick the anticipation into overdrive.

We Chat is popular in Vietnam and with Vietnamese guys because of the easy translation feature. That is one area where Line is deficient, IMHO. When I was in Indonesia Whats App seemed more popular than Line with regular folk.
-
Line is a messaging/social app dominant in Thailand and nearby, although these days a lot of the guys are also have the others on their phones. you can download the app for your phone and/or there is a desktop application go to "add friends" and it gives you the choice to search by Line ID or phone number. When searching by ID, if it doesn't show up at first, sometimes it helps to try again with (or without) an "@" Some places also display a QR code and adding by QR Code is the easiest way.

oh. sorry for the confusion. I know some people here are fans of both Adam and Nakarat but I haven't been to either. I've skipped Adam in the past because it had one of the worst reputations of any shop. It used to be known for being unfriendly and no hanky-panky. (You can be one or the other, but not both.) But now we hear that's changed and I am glad to hear they've turned over a new leaf. Nakarat has lots of very very good looking guys. That's for sure. Never heard a bad thing. Go for it. I've been tempted but it seems the easiest way to make a selection there is to do so on the sidewalk, and I find it a bit awkward to pantomime my particular wants (the whole top/bottom, who wears the Little Bo Peep costume, that sort of stuff) with all the tourist trade walking by. But it's high on my list. Just not enough time... I think there's a certain point where the shops really are all the same. It all depends on whether there's that one-on-one chemistry with the masseur.

What's your perfect day and night in Bangkok?
DivineMadman replied to AlexThompson's topic in Gay Thailand
Thanks for the promote on sawatdee. I'll confess I steer clear of that board. There's the Indra near Tawan bar. I used to go there regularly, but 6 or more years ago I thought it was very very good massages, with expert HJ happy endings. All at a pretty good price. As I recall bathrooms in the hall. Maybe not the most private set up. For me, it falls into the category of "not compelling." Used to be that you could't pick the guy - you had to take the next guy in rotation and any hanky panky had to be hidden from the dragon lady boss. I hear that may have changed, but I don't know. So when it comes time for me to pick a spot, other places win out. There's another Indra over on Suan Plu that deserves special honorary mention. It's more of a store front shop. The owner/manager is very active with SWING, which is a truly excellent support and counseling organization for the men and katoeys in the "business." I've only gone there for foot massages, which are excellent. I bet the other massages are fine. For years I have tried to make it work out between myself and V Club (now "VCK Cool Space"). I used to live nearby on Soi Ari 1 and the shop had, and still does have, lots of guys I think are very cute/handsome. Often it seems to have the best stable of guys of any shop in Bangkok, although of course as in most of Bangkok, not strong with twinks. But for some reason or another, for me it's mostly been a string of disappointing experiences. I am truly jealous of anyone who has the mojo for that shop. It could be perfect. As in life, we fall in love and out of love. I think Senso was my first of these spots to go to ever, and I used to go there every year. Now, only every 2-3 years. I have been to Fork & Cork by Sphinx on Soi 4. I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. It never seems to be very busy, so I've pretty much always been able to get a table and the food is very good. The good news and bad news is that you're just that tad bit removed from the scene and crowds of Telephone and Balcony. I definitely recommend it if you want a bit more room than those other places. It's also a bit more private and quiet. Actually having a conversation is possible there, so that's where I go if I'm with someone. -
Bangkok Gogo show bars - report and questions

Good report. About Jupiter a couple of thoughts. (1) Being over on Soi 4, don't know if they are under any restrictions or pressures on how sleazy they can be. (2) Even high season they often have guys at the entrance to the soi passing out flyers. For the chinese site, here's one candidate. enjoy. http://www.gaytourthai.com -
I know that in the regular "rooms" for Thai massages -- with mats on the floor -- the walls do not go all the way to the ceiling. So not curtains, but not 100% private floor-to-ceiling walls either. Prime also has rooms with massage tables for oil massages. I just can't remember if they have floor-to-ceiling walls.

LOLs https://bkkmassages.wordpress.com I am actually less a fan of the German place on Soi 4 than others. It's fine. Just not my tasse tee, if you know what I mean. I do very much like the French place on Patpong 2. Le Bouchon. I think it is pricey. The portions are vast and old school delicious. I think there is a nice group of regular patrons. I've only been a couple of times, but always well-fed and happy. A recent addition to the very very fine dinning scene in Bangkok is Saawaan on Suan Phlu. It is a multi-course tastings-only menu place that does their modern take on Thai food. A lot of deconstructed this and a bit of molecular that. It is ruinously expensive but worth if it's within your budget and you enjoy those experiences. (I have to eat nothing but 7-11 brand sandwiches for a week afterwards to get my budget back on track.) The nicest thing about the place is that the chef and other members of the crew come to your table for the final explanation and preparation and/or plating of each course. The shy chef is just delightful. But while I'm at it - I think the Thai food at Maxi's on Soi Twilight is very very good. -

You're right to take everyone as they are, with a grain of salt. That's one of the things that helps make this particular Board more helpful than most. SGlad, however, for whatever reason, decided to try to con people into believing that he was a young Singapore student studying in Chiang Mai. It was both tedious and false. But no surprise, he has long since been outed as a fraud. Why would someone waste so much of everyone's time with that garbage? I have no idea. Sad. Perhaps he suffers from chronic and severe flatulence that makes even the simplest social situation unpleasant, and so to fill the emptiness he tries to create a different, less odious personality. We'll never know. But his recent re-emergence and a few polite posts should not deceive anyone. Once a con man always a con man. (Polite that is, unless you're a foodie and enjoy eating out, then the nastiness re-emerges.) As a superstar former astronaut and international spy (), I of course, have no problems with people living a fantasy life. But I think it is fair to call out those who waste everyone's time insisting that they share the delusion. -
I haven't done much updating on it since March or April 2018. I think I corrected the line id for DM Spa a few days ago thanks to the helpful comment of Anddy (I believe). But to be clear, I have neither the time nor inclination to try to make it an exhaustive survey of every shop. It's only the ones I find interesting one way or another. It's not definitive or exhaustive. It's just one person's set of data points for your information.

Do we know the OP's age? In Bangkok, westerners, including the younger and older expat residents or tourists, will often visit DJ Station and hang out in Soi 4. That can be an opportunity to meet people. Stranger Bar on Soi 4 gets a good number of younger western expats and although Maggie Choo's on Sunday night is in my experience mostly locals/Asian visitors, there are certainly a good number of westerners there - again, tending towards the 20's-30's. Also, the younger expat gays do seem to like the pool parties at Sofitel.

I can't read the whole article, and the newspaper fonts make my already sketchy Thai reading skills even more tortured. But the headlines do look scary. "D-Day...." I also checked Pantip and couldn't find anything about JJ Green closing, and I find it simply hard to believe that it's not a more newsworthy event. Oh well, in any event, the idea of Bangkok losing JJ Green is so sad I am just going to pretend everything is fine. But advice not to recommend it to others is duly noted. -

sad to hear. it was a fun place to visit. Where did you hear it was closing? Such a famous place I would have expected to read about it more. The sort of thing Coconuts would have made a big deal about. Not that we should ever rely on the internet, but their website doesn't mention closing. https://jjgreen.org -
What's your perfect day and night in Bangkok?

Others may correct me, but I share the view that Thailand is not the place to stock up on prescription drugs. FYI The local equivalent of Viagra is Sidegra, which I think is supposed to be quite a bit cheaper (I don't know). And I have no clue whatsoever if you need a prescription for it. You might find a pharmacy that might sell it to you. You do see sidewalk vendors selling some sorts of drugs like Viagra Cialis and maybe others, but I think it's most likely that the drugs are as legit as the Gucci purses being sold by the vendor next door. If you're visiting Bangkok, the inherited wisdom is to stay in the Silom area. You could safely expand that to someplace with easy access to the BTS. If you're looking for something entirely different, I usually direct friends to Loy La Long Hotel right on the river. It's not practical for sexpat-ing, but it's a gem. I'm a part-year resident, so my perfect day/nights will most definitely not suit you. For me, a lot depends on whether it's a budget recovery day or not. A lot of the time I seem to particularly enjoy a morning getting lost somewhere in Bangkok while "exploring", a late afternoon or early evening massage and then dinner with friends and then home to sleep alone. Blessed quiet solitary sleep. Other times it's fun drunken evening at "Dancing Isan." Because I have a few regular "friends", sometimes its just an evening in with street food and watching a bad Thai/Cambodian/Burmese movie (as the case may be), invariably without subtitles, but he -- whichever "he" it is that evening -- seems to enjoy just staying in. When out-of-town friends visit BKK I always bring them to a sky bar. And favorite man-of-the-month gets that treat as well. For a new visitor I definitely suggest a night or two relaxing at Maxi's for dinner or a drink (or two) on Soi Twilight and then taking in a show and taking off a guy (or two) And then other nights head to Soi 4 and most evenings you will be pretty much guaranteed to meet young entrepreneurial gents happy to meet you, ike a cute friend of mine from Cambodia who goes there with other similarly motivated guys to make friends and go dancing at DJ Station - with you!. A lot lot lot of people seem to like the German restaurant on Soi 4. Personally I think the "scene" aspect of Balcony or Telephone is more fun. Stranger Bar has a drag show Thursday evening that I enjoy because it's more like an old NYC East Village show from Pyramid Club than fancy fancy Tiffany Show. Mixed crowd in a small venue very crowded. Chatuchak Market should be experienced and then you can decide if you like it or hate it. You can get anything there. (Except Xanax, Propecia, etc. ) THere's JJ Green that's nearby in the evening after the market closes, but probably not for your first trip. An evening at the Train Market Rachada is less overwhelming and seems to be much more predominantly locals and lots more food. There's even a gay bar there, although I never see many customers and it is so loud I have never stayed more than a few minutes. (BTW- It's an open/ooutdoor bar like most of the others there. It's just gay.) -
Bangkok Trip Report 2018: I Get Really Greedy Edition
DivineMadman replied to numazu's topic in Gay Thailand
I really don't understand what you're saying is not "right." Perhaps you can explain. Yes, the bars make the money on the alcohol. Not on the off fee. Because people were making such a stink about the off fee at Moonlight, what I was pointing out was that in the case of Moonlight, for the better "models," we know the salary is roughly 1,200 per night. The bar pays that to the guy who shows up to work, whether or not the guy is off'd. The customer paying the 1,200 off fee (bar fine) is just bringing the bar back to zero. At other bars it's often as simple as that, but sometimes plus or minus 100 baht. For example, as of a while ago, Fresh Boys paid its guys about 500 a night, and the off fee was about 500. Same. X-Boys would pay about 300 a night, even with a 400-500 off fee, which is one of the reasons X-Boys was (and probably still is) a starter bar for the guys to work in. And I simply don't understand what you're saying about 2 guys refusing and then the next accepting. Implicitly customers are constantly "refusing" by not off'ing someone. I just don't understand your point. Again, please explain. -
Samui has a bit of a gay scene, mostly centered around Chaweng. A bar or two, a couple of massage places. But I think people who go there hoping for a robust gay scene are disappointed. (Same as Hua Hin.) Samui has some nice beaches and other things to do, but it's not as pretty as Krabi. And like anywhere else there are parts utterly lacking in charm. There are nice places to go and get away from it all on nearby Koh Phangan and tiny Koh Tao ("Murder Island") but I think best to bring companionship with you if that's important. There used to be a gay-ish bar with a ladyboy show on Koh Tao, but I don't know if it's still there. Also some decent SCUBA opportunities off of Koh Tao. For up-to-date information, there's a very affable expat guy who runs Rainbow SCUBA who also offered tours of Samui. That could be something to do and he could give you an up-to-date intro to the scene there. The Bangkok bar formerly known as Fresh Beach Boys has just been going by the name Fresh Boys for several years now.

I recall an author of murder mysteries remarking that it was harder to write good mysteries these days because all the location data available to police, including fictional police detectives.

Bangkok Trip Report 2018: I Get Really Greedy Edition
DivineMadman replied to numazu's topic in Gay Thailand
Somehow I came across an ad for auditions to work as model at Moonlight. It said 25,000 baht was the monthly salary plus tips. The guys might be content with that. And, as regards the off fee (bar fine), it makes sense. If the bar has to pay the guy say roughly 1,000 (plus or minus) a night for working, then the customer should pay the bar that if he's taking the guy off premises. If a customer wants to pay all that, that's of course up to him. or her.
