  1. I think this board is very harmless and the membership is very tame. I haven't even considered adding anyone to my Ignore list. While there are people I often disagree with, I still like to read what they have to say. Sometimes it's educational and in other cases at least entertaining, so why not!
  2. Thais have to register as well, using their ID card.
  3. Great, have fun!
  4. And, even more importantly, WRITE more often. Who else will give us that unique Scottish perspective?
  5. Yes, that whole bonus points thing is a shady line of arguing. Either you paid for these points before using them, or someone else (e.g. your employer) did. These hotel chains don't dole them out for free, obviously. Back when I traveled a lot for work in the US, I collected many Hilton points and could freely use them for my leisure trips. After the tsunami, the Hilton Phuket Arcadia (which isn't a Hilton anymore now) had incredible deals etc. etc. Then again, their airport transfer service was pricier than a night at one of the aforementioned hotels. Ultimately, someone needs to pay for the extra level of luxury.
  6. As a Canadian arriving with a 30 days visa exempt stamp, you shouldn't have a problem to get an extension of stay for another 30 days from your local immigration office. Nowadays they might want to see proof of where you reside (within their jurisdiction), but otherwise nothing has changed. As for the outbound ticket, it's unlikely that immigration wants to see it in your case, but your airline might require it if you fly to Thailand without having a visa or re-entry permit. They might be willing to waive that requirement if you sign an indemnity form. It's probably best to check with them before.

    My Thai Guy

Not so sure. If someone else remembers him from back then, they might well recognize him seeing that pic.
  8. It's not funny at all and easy to understand what Ryan means. You bring someone over, and let's assume the relationship fails. Then fall in love with someone else whom you'd like to bring over again. Immigration might not feel too comfortable with you attempting to "import" lover after lover...
  9. Ain't that the truth!
  10. In all honesty, I think being monogamous doesn't rank high among young gays all over the world, that's not limited to Thailand.
  11. Well it isn't that black and white. I've been working in Bangkok for ten+ years and for me it's FAR from a horrible place to work, more the opposite actually. But it really depends on your individual circumstances, or more to the point, the kind of job you can secure in Thailand and your attitude towards working with Thais. It works for me and for many other expats I know, but it's not for everyone obviously.
  12. I'd call it an outcall cook, not an outcall cooker, and not merely because the latter rhymes with hooker.
  13. You both have a point, I think. Politicians are lying and thieving bastards the world over, with some notable exceptions obviously. The academic field of history and the way history is taught in schools, however, is probably nowhere as unbiased as in the West. It's not perfect there either, but as good as it gets in the real world.
  14. They are in quite some trouble because of some rather unflattering reporting on Thailand's new King, which is a serious offense here.
  15. That's a bit over the top, usually you will be fined and deported if caught, not imprisoned for a lengthy time (just for processing). Unless there's an aggravating factor besides lewd behavior in public. So, being an expat, I wouldn't risk it, as getting deported would have quite an impact on my life. If I were a tourist, I'd probably take my chances...
  16. Plus 20℅, so it went from 5 to 6 active members? All sock puppets (you call them "Hydra", I think) excluded?

    TAWAN boys

Girls!!! Please stop the bickering or start wearing skirts.
  18. But isn't that the crux of the matter, the "don't intend to keep" part? I'd say the typical Farang X desperately wants to believe in whatever he's promising, while he's at it. He's deceiving himself as much as the boy, I think. The OP makes a good point, in theory, about explaining things later. But that's lateral Western thinking, I'm not convinced that many Thai boys would be keen to have that chat.

    Gay Malaysia

FOC = Free of Charge, I'd guess... Wow, three saunas out of four for the chubby guys? If true, that doesn't sound good!
  20. It did take you quite a long time to write that reply, scottishguy, but I'm glad you finally got if off your chest.

    Trip report

The taxi queue isn't disorganized anymore and the waiting area is air-conditioned. Only once your queue number is up do you go outdoors to your designated counter. But I agree about immigration, that's still a mess at Don Mueang.
  22. For a somewhat different experience, head to one of the infamous BJ bars.
  23. I cannot really find fault in that argument. Assuming that all the posters are grown-ups, it's difficult to see how they could be bullied into providing answers they are not prepared to give.
  24. I don't need any public excuses now, because I work in Bangkok. I didn't need any excuses back when I was a frequent visitor either. While people asked me what I liked about Thailand, which are my favorite places or foods here and similar questions, I don't recall anyone being over the top nosy.
