Right, there are a few farang "characters" in Bangkok and Pattaya whose GayRomeo profiles are all about shit. I wonder how many takers (or givers, for that matter) they can find in Thailand.

Further drop in the value of the British Pound
Alexx replied to Travellerdave's topic in Gay Thailand
Maybe. Open a Thai bank account for yourself, fund it when the exchange rate is favorable and make instant, domestic transfers to your boyfriend's bank account whenever the need arises. I'd say that's the best way. Western Union has very bad exchange rates on top of their fees, but I guess you already know that. -
Bangkok/Yangon/Bagan/Mandalay Trip Report: Playing With Fire
Alexx replied to numazu's topic in Gay Thailand
I hope all the do-gooders have had their say, so that we can finally get back to numazu's exciting report. If I had any criticism of the kind voiced here above, I would send him a PM. In other words, this could have been handled discreetly with the same result (blurred faces). Finally, anyone who is familiar with the final Andy Hall ruling and similar cases knows that Thailand's criminal defamation laws cannot be applied to (1) content published outside Thailand (2) by someone who is located outside Thailand, the sole exception being lèse majesté. Referring to Thailand's criminal defamation laws with regards to numazu's comments in this thread is plain silly. It's also worth remembering that these laws serve to protect the rich and powerful; I dare anyone who thinks otherwise to cite a ruling of the kind insinuated here, a run of the mill prostitute having someone prosecuted for calling them a prostitute. -
Bangkok/Yangon/Bagan/Mandalay Trip Report: Playing With Fire

Maybe DivineMadman recognized one of the guys and that guy had told him that he's sick at home that night, when in fact he had been drinking with his buddies? Just a thought. -
Correct Location on Forum for Posts on Taiwan

Hear, hear! Let's see if Scooby will sound a lot like Firecat if and when he replies. -
So from your experience, which of the gay dating apps work best in Taiwan?

My view is different on high-traffic sites that require a strict enforcement of rules, but with the gay boards, the overall number of threads is low enough that it really doesn't matter too much how they are organized. I, for one, am quite pleased that the owner of this forum isn't all over each and every thread, unlike other forum owners who see the need to add their two cents even when they are totally clueless, just because it's their playground and they don't have anything else to do. Long may it last!

It already exists and is called "View New Content". That's where I always go, I never browse the individual forums.

Has a nice ring to it, too, the Fifty Thousand Dong Hug.

I agree, steveboy, they might as well cash in on their reputation in earnest. Pointless to try to pretend it could be anything else, Pattaya is what it is.

"All the way to the check-in area", so it was actually an OUTflux of travelers. And indeed, the photos I saw were from outbound immigration. Here's my revolutionary suggestion: Get rid of outbound immigration altogether. It's a waste of space and time; if the U.S. doesn't need it, neither does Thailand.

I'd bet that these amounts are just as inflated as those we can often read about Thai bar boys. There will be a few superstars and again a few others who have the good fortune of landing a long-term, wealthy admirer, but in all likelihood, the vast majority makes far less. More than in Thailand, obviously, but less than hundreds of thousands of US$ per month.

It's as real this time as last time, and next time. I do think they're being quite serious about it, for several weeks.
-
Definitely. The monthly minimum wage in HCMC is 3,750,000 dong per month, so that's more like 20,000 dong per hour.
-
At this particular time of various crackdowns by the authorities, I'd be willing to cut the bars some slack as far as the dress code is concerned.
-
Haha, that's quite an enterprising spirit at work actually! Thanks for the heads up.

When you're in that area (Victory Monument and Saphan Khwai), you could check out Soi Ari (BTS Ari) as well.

What's the going rate for the tips in Jomtien?

I haven't used it for any sex related questions yet, but occasionally when I was searching Google for other information, Quora featured in the search results. Ryan's post piqued my curiosity, I'll have a look.

Bueng Kan has the typical "karaoke" knocking shops that exist all over Thailand. As Bueng Kan is at the Lao border, the girls who work there are typically Lao girls. I got invited to such a place about 7 years ago but declined - easy to see how a farang so inclined could go there, and I don't find it hard to believe that some or even many of the girls who work at such a place are underage.

I spend most of the time that I spend in Vietnam in Saigon, not by choice but I'm getting along there pretty well. I'd say people are more direct and more business minded than in Hanoi, that's fine with me but I can see how this makes them appear less friendly. All that said, I think both places (plus many in between for that matter!) are well worth a visit. As for the guys, I'm hunting for the same target group in Saigon as in Bangkok. There are some differences and I might write about them in more detail at some point (working title: Twink Hunting in Bangkok vs Saigon, a Comparative Study), but by and large, the effort I need to put in and my success rate are similar.

That would be a nice touch.

Excellent, now your friend #2 can just off his former "boyfriend" whenever he feels like wanting his company. That will probably work out cheaper and less painful.

Interesting, a447a. I've heard about many of the Vietnam scams you've mentioned, so I don't doubt your report either. But let me say that you really had very bad luck encountering that many of them within a single trip. Something like that happening would probably keep me away, too. My experiences in Vietnam, both in general and with the boys, have been very positive so far.
