  1. Posted today in the Bangkok Post regarding some further clarifications about the Thai government wanting to tax our global income, as foreigners who are deemed to be "tax residents" (living in Thailand in excess of 180 days in a year). https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/general/2818689/navigating-new-foreign-income-rules
  2. Published today in the Bangkok Post. Not much new details posted, but perhaps some tax clarifications. https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/general/2818689/navigating-new-foreign-income-rules
  3. Hi Reader, Many thanks for posting these update bulletins as they can become very useful. Yesterday, I had a great massage from the first guy who I met who was actually born in Pattaya (generally everyone here is from somewhere else). I had asked him if he had been to the day's prior Pride parade here in Pattaya. He had completely missed both Pride parades here in Pattaya. But, thanks to this Reader update - I was able to share with him the 30 June longest Pride parade news. He was truly happy because he will be in Bangkok in that period for job interviews. So Reader, you made a sexy Thai massage guy very happy.
  4. And this mantra Vinapu, made our time together wonderful - as we respected each other's need for "private fun time" and to not become a drag or boring to the other. I looked forward to our daily post-fun updates and meeting all of the people that you know (from this forum and also not from this forum) to get a feel of the bigger picture about how things work in Silom - Sala Deng and greater Thailand. It was truly educational.
  5. Yes, meeting Khim was the top of my trip - of course AFTER meeting with you and learning so much from your "Boot Camp" lessons. Things were so good with Khim that I paid to off him to Pattaya for some days - where the highlight was to have his gorgeous sexy body on the white sands and turquoise water of Tien beach on Koh Larn (and of course our time in my bed). Now I just need to followup with my contact with sexy and charming Alex via Line......
  6. Yesterday, 22 June 2024 was the Pattaya International Pride Festival 2024, with the theme "Pride for All". I have to say that I was VERY impressed and I apologize for my previous reporting, as I had implied that there may have been some "bad water" that caused Pattaya to have 2 distinct parade celebrations. After having experienced both parades and seeing how and why they were presented, it was very obvious that one event is subordinate to the other - which I had misunderstood because the Jomtien / Dongtan pride event, Pattaya Community Event, went before the much bigger Pride for All event that was held today. My bad, as I am still a newly retired person here and as a farang it is very difficult to understand everything. I also had the naïve belief that for today's parade, that Boyztown, should be the lead event. Instead, it was of minor importance, as Boyztown only had one single float out of perhaps 30 floats ?? that were in the parade, which consisted of the Castro Cabaret Show and Panorama - with their float labeled as: Boyztown Pattaya. Today's "Pride for All" event goes WAY beyond Boyztown, as it had MAJOR representation from almost all of the important Pattaya businesses, from the local hospitals, big name stores (Pattana and Central Festival), important social and political clubs, restaurants, government institutions, and what surprised me the most was the dedication of 2 floats sponsored by 2 of the most important bar complexes in soi Buakhao, LK Metro and Treetown - which are the primary heterosexual entertainment centers in Pattaya. Compared to the 2 weeks prior Jomtien parade, this parade was massive. Since the Thai government has solicited to host the 2030 World Gay Pride event in Thailand - and after seeing today's PRIDE event - I can see that Thailand will be an excellent host for this prestigious event. The parade route was from the Central Marina shopping mall, past the Terminal 21 shopping mall (which was decked out with giant pride flag decorations), and then down Beach road terminating at the Central Festival shopping mall. I joined the parade just as it was leaving the Central Marina mall area and I walked with it until about mid way on Beach road to finally be able to sit down and enjoy an iced capuccino frappe and to watch the rest of the parade pass. One of my Thai friends joined me there and then after the parade terminated we went over to Central Festival to eat dinner and then to watch the night performances of many important drag queens, famous Thai TV stars, and other wonderful performers. --> please note that the below photos were taken from the Central Pattaya facebook page, as they were of much higher quality than my more simple photos https://www.facebook.com/CentralPattayaBeach Starting point within the Central Marina mall Gay Pride flag along Beach road More of the crowd on Beach road Great to see the Thai Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, alongside with the Pattaya Mayor, Poramet Ngampichet together at the parade. ok, that is all for now - I may post some more pictures / videos tomorrow.
  7. I still lack your courage - I still need some more Vinapu Boot Camp training 👍😇🤪
  8. hmm - this an interesting perspective because at my previous employer this was one of our BIGGEST topics of conversation (hours and hours): Where will you retire? What is the taxation policy in the desired country? Does this country respect the United Nations tax treaties after you stop working and go into retirement status? Choose your retirement country wisely if you are a USA citizen - because they have a "Citizenship based global taxation" which does not honor the United Nations non taxable income rules - because then you can find yourself paying tax twice on your UN income if your designated retirement tax country implements a "Global taxation" based on tax residency regime. So, for me and for my former work colleagues at the UN, this was of primary or secondary importance because of UN tax treaties - which are in addition to our Citizenship and/or tax residency status.
  9. or you "strategically" make sure that Thailand is not your "tax residence" (by avoiding to stay in the Kingdom more than 180 days) and live somewhere else that has a more tax friendly taxation. When I chose my to-be retirement destination country back in 2020 - The friendly taxation status of "tax residents" in Thailand helped to put it at the top of the list. But now the current government wishes to change this "social contract" - so, consequently, where to live is now up for grabs.....
  10. This was so much fun - to be strategically placed at the seating tables that are in front of the elevators - and to "act" like I do not know either Vinapu or his very scrumptious date. I was very envious as Vinapu has an amazing selection of guys always available to him - and all of these guys are my type. But, that is ok, because I would eventually be with my ever so sexy hot Khim from Cambodia.
  11. yes - he's coming back!!!
  12. is that a "good" thing or a "bad" thing ?
  13. Koh Tao trip report - Monday 24 June 2024 - Saturday 29 June 2024 My Thai volleyball friend and I, we have been discussing where to go for our next island hopping trip in Thailand. We already visited Koh Larn, Koh Samet, and Koh Chang. For this trip, which is about to commence as of the writing of this trip report (22 June), we chose the mysterious, Koh Tao - as it has been given the label of "Death Island". Below is a Youtube documentary as to why it has been given this name. Consequently, my Thai friend has been kindly asked by me to keep his eyes on me at all times as it seems that over 20 non-Thais have been murdered on this mysterious island. From a logistical point of view, our trip here has taken quite a lot of effort to organize, as it is not easy to arrive there from Pattaya. Our itinerary is: Monday 24 June - Taxi limo from Pattaya to the Novotel hotel in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport (flight is early in the morning next day so we wanted to already be at the airport when we wake up and it gives a chance to my Thai friend to have his family come and visit us at the airport - as they live in the nearby province). Tuesday 25 June - Flight from Suvarnabhumi to Koh Samui airport - Taxi from Koh Samui airport to the Maenam/Pralarn Pier for the inter-island Lomprayah ferry - Pickup from the Mae Haad Pier on Koh Tao by our resort The above map gives you a good idea about the logistical challenge. In hindsight, perhaps flying to Chumphon airport would have made the trip somewhat easier as the ferry ride would only require one inter-island stop - instead of 2 from Koh Samui. I initiated this trip report before its commencement and conclusion - just in case I would become the next death statistic on Koh Tao - hopefully not, as I would like to truly finish this trip report - as I see we don't have many trip reports to many of Thailand's hidden secrets - as we tend to limit our travels to the traditional tourist places like; Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hua Hin, Pattaya, and Bangkok. Stay tuned.
  14. I agree Vinapu, A is very impressive. I truly enjoyed the story that he shared with us about his volunteer work with the Thailand Princess Sirindhorn. A is definitely a gentleman. He shared his line with me at our dinner and I need to still pursue a possible encounter with him. I was conveniently lucky to get a glance at Y - and his is VERY impressive. Vinapu - you have an AMAZING selection of men available to you. I see that they are the fruits of all of your prior trips to Thailand and how you treat these guys very good - how can they ever say no to you 😘
  15. Speaking of the Canterbury Tales bookshop - the PCEC - Pattaya City Expat Club will have a presentation by its founder, Mr David Collier at their next meeting on Wednesday 26 June 2024 at 10:30 am at the Holiday Inn in Pattaya City. https://pcec.club/MEETING-INFORMATION
  16. I like to waste money on travel The BEST way to live = experience life in the real
  17. I go here at least 3 times each week for my morning breakfast. Very convenient and ALL of the waitresses know me and after greeting me say, "same same Mr.?...." However, note that the bacon is much better over at Tinnies - as it was mentioned earlier about where can one get good bacon as part of their breakfast. https://www.facebook.com/TinniesPie/
  18. hmm, what is the hidden message? Did Vinapu feel more "secure" with me at the opposite end of the corridor ? For the discretion aspect, I could understand completely :>)) I would not be able to sleep if I had the adjacent room next to Vinapu 🤪 ohh lala - yes, I could not resist. Since Vinapu did not take any of the sexy and lovely guys from Moonlight - I just had to take 2 of them back to my Raya room with the BIG glass enclosed shower that is in the middle of the suite. Once we were in the room, I organized my own "Moonlight show" = OMG 💦💦💦
  19. Unfortunately, Olddaddy - I cannot answer this question - as I only arrived 18 months prior from Europe as a new retiree. So I cannot assess if the gay expat generation prior to the current gay expat retiree generation was more open to letting in "newbies" - new gay expat arrivals settling in the Pattaya area. I can say that the forum members that come here on vacation and/or are seasonal part-time expats are very approachable and friendly. I have made many friends with this category of expats - but they tend to be here during the "high-season" months (October through March).
  20. and I am SO glad that you dragged me to Senso - as I had a "blast" 💦💦💦 there. The GREAT thing about traveling with Vinapu - is that he knows so many people. By now I had already met Reader and now Anddy - all great forum members 😘 And this was fascinating for me because the bus was very old and historic and it felt that I was transported back in time to 2007 from a scene from Bangkok Love Story
  21. This one should read - Hoi An - as that is the small Vietnam village that is famous for the lanterns - and it is only like 40 minutes away from Da Nang and is well worth it in my opinion. Hue is in the opposite direction and you would go there if you want to see Nguyen Dynasty Đại Nội Citadel. I went there with my Vietnam gay tour guide and it was an all day event. Since you will only have 3 days - you will need to choose wisely. Reader - I wrote about my April Da Nang trip here:
  22. I have a feeling Reader - that this is VERY true after attending 6 days of Vinapu's Boot Camp 😆😈
  23. I love the bacon that is served with the American breakfast at Tinnie's https://www.tinniespiespattaya.com/ here in Jomtien - just outside of the Jomtien Supertown Complex. This is an Australian restaurant and the bacon is thick and big and juicy.
  24. This is exciting Reader. Where will you be going in Vietnam? Da Nang? if yes - I can give you some tips as Da Nang is a beautiful place....and so is nearby historic Hoi An.
  25. ok, as promised, I made contact with Punya today - the owner of Sansuk Sauna & Guesthouse https://sansukthailand.com/ He confirmed that the rumor that started this thread is FALSE. He did not sell Sansuk and he is still the current owner of Sansuk. He was happy to be alerted by this false rumor and that I volunteered to clarify the situation.
