  1. firecat I'm last to question your reasoning but I was trying to show that different people have different calculations in mind for different reasons. After you land past midnight if you were to wait for first train to Phaya Thai at 6.00 you'd be surprised how many faces familiar from flight are on the train, rationale of waiting being savings not only on taxi but also on first, very short night in the hotel. I was presented with this logic on at least three occasions by random travelling companions over the years Not long ago Christian reported meeting on the flight to BKK guy whose goal was to get from Swampy to Cambodian border at Poipet for under 3$. Achievable by the way, logic of such self flagellation escaping me but obviously not a guy in question. Bottom line is trying to rationalize spending habits of others is an exercise in futility. We can help with advice but trying to understand motives of others when comes to spending is wasting energy.
  2. Common illusion is that we humans always make a rational financial decisions. I can see at least 4 reasons for doing the above although I haste to say , I'm none of those types. 1. Technology freaks, those are people who use internet do do almost everything, they order pizza over internet instead of calling so why not a shuttle 2. Big name lovers, who wouldn't sleep in hotel without Holiday Inn or Hilton name, eat at McDonald or Sizzler, drink only Starbucks cofee etc so they feel home with Expedia but not Lek's Taxi Service 3. Unsecure types, afraid of unknown who don't leave home without all reservations made , tickets purchased, maps uploaded and so on 4.Points freaks collecting reward points on every purchase including 1.50 coca-cola so why not on shared shuttle.
  3. For me for first 8 trips Thailand was transit country on my way to or from somewhere in the region. First time I arrived at night and first thing in the morning after breakfast I went to Saphan Taksin BTS took boat to Grand Palace and before arrived there I fall madly in love with the country. Sure , later on in the day I tried my first massage and in the evening first bar but by that time my feelings were established and had nothing to do with sleaze which is existing of course and thanks God for that. Truth is while abundant most of sleaze is well hidden, not too many people wander to soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza by chance. Patpong 1 and Walking street are a bit different but if somebody is not interested after few steps will notice what is going on and can escape easily with grace. Yes I also had my suit made to measure and 14 years later proudly use it for weddings and funerals, still squeezing in easily which makes for good feeling. And great deals on multi stars hotels are as easily to be had like they were then making Thailand one of the best existing deals for the money with Third World prices for First World values. While not particular big fan of Thai food chicken with cashew nuts notwithstanding I like what is on offer at any given time feasting mostly on fruits. But Thailand biggest asset are her people, welcoming and warm. It’s just enough to sit in famous Bangkok traffic for while to realize that in every other place on the wide world it would be cacophony of honking cars and swearwords while there everybody somehow manages to keep composure. So while sleaze is accessible and well organized for which most of us here are grateful I ’d not call Thailand Land of Sleaze sticking to smiles instead. And anybody who doubts in Thailand charms apart from Soi Twilight and Boyztown just start reading Christian’s blog since he is doing outstanding job finding all those both hidden and well visible charms for us.
  4. two boys on the pedestal in front of gay flag look very inviting
  5. if you need to wake up at 9 a.m. just think that it's 9 p.m. at home, it should cheer you up. I admire you have stamina to go through those 24 hr flights to be in LOS only a week or so but I think at end of day this is better option - few shorter trips rather than one long one when at end of stay one feels worn down a bit. thank you for a great reports
  6. Bill Clinton had problem with this definition as well ( " I never had sex with that woman" ) My apologioes for resurrecting this old thread but I found discussion very interesting

Whatever option you chosen, definitely it looks that you had fun !

Cedric, which massage option from their extensive menu did you choose?, Organ 1, Organ 2 or all above?
  9. It's why I always cherish an opportunity to do bars or massage tour with other members of the forum. Fun comparing observation and eye opener to what other people like, don't like and pay attention to. My quasi boyfriend from May trip was assessed as too fat by one member and ax-murderer faced by another one, I can't ask for more LOL On another hand when few contributors advised me that I will not find much of interest in Sunee Plaza offerings other than Good Boys it turned out to be spot on. And then anonone says above that he did not even made to Boyztown. I think it's great that we have diversity , keeps all guys fed, small and big
  10. Probably you can buy one in Pattaya, just as our resident members like Gaybutton . thay may know where. I'm kind of puzzled with frequent complains about hard mattresses in Thailand, even if jumping from hotel to hotel never had this kind of problem. Perhaps because I rarely sleep alone?
  11. words of wisdom, an experience changes not only from person to person but also from day to day and at times even from hour to hour, empty bar at 9 may be very busy at 11 or other way around. It's always valuable to hear other's opinion but always having in mind that it's just an impression , not statement of facts Great report anonone, I need to add that my impression of Good Boys from last visit is exactly the same like you described, fast fun behind the screen. Boys are up to the point and not time wasters but not pushy at all on another hand. I agree with you about graphics in reporting, nothing wrong with it and fun to read but either boy or activity itself should be anonymous, just like in your description of Eros adventure. After all there are two sides , us and boys and we are not sure if boy would be happy with open description of his still private , even if in the open , activities.
  12. as long as they don't charge extra for membership I can live with those restrictions, If I can use miles I do , If I can't , I just shake it off. In my 11 trips to LOS I used 11 different connections and 8 carriers and always felt that deal I got was better than keeping loyal to one airline
  13. yes and Take -a -Nap is right beside,
  14. Depending on line at immigration and waiting time for your luggage you may be able to catch last train departing at midnight or even second last train, then follow Moses advice as it will be to late for connection at Phaya Thai for BTS or at Makkasan for MRT / subway/. This is option if you need an adrenaline rush at that time. Bite the bullet , go to 1st floor and take taxi, remember you need to pay driver 50 baht over the meter / airport surcharge /. I'd rather give that 1000 baht to the boy on the first night than pay that extra for limo service but it's just me maybe
  15. nothing is wasted as others may be looking for the same information and it's already ready for them.
  16. everybody is entitled to your opinion LOL I'd not say overpriced, rather expensive in league with both places named in the tittle of the thread and Waternest but if one finds value in prices charged nothing is overpriced. Like you I believe is better to overpay 500 or 1000 and leave smiling and dreaming about return than just pay and receive what is due. My experiences from SENSO were also 100% positive although when comes to selection I think HERO due to sheer number of boys behind the glass is # 1
  17. It look that Rush's bangkokbois blog was taken off line and it's not longer available
  18. About higher prices I can agree, for both massage and a minimum tips they and Senso which belongs to the same category are charging more. But rooms are of higher standard, some Senso and Prince rooms could be presented as hotel rooms, just replace mirror with flat screen TV. So higher prices for massages are not unreasonable if somebody is looking for more class than mattress on the floor but it's good to know about it to make informed decision. As for attitude there were some negative comments circulating on forums but I can't complain. One Senso model sternly asked me not to touch him during massage as it distracts him but promised full access after massage and kept his side of bargain and whole experience turned fabulous, both massage and afters. Never in those classier places I was cut on time paid and 1.5 hr meeting lasted exactly that long, can't say that about few of cheaper places, specially in Silom tourist area. As for quality of massage - this depends only on boy's skills and has nothing to do with either quality of place and boy's good looks. For selection I agree with Christian above , numerous Suriwong, soi 6 and Silom places are best for strolling and checking who is on the offer but for nervous newbies I repeat for umpteen time best option is soi Twilight where one can have drink or meal at Maxi's or Dick's and at the same time make mind about Bangkok Massage, Bonny';s and X-Size massage boys sitting in front of their places.
  19. as long as they work as prison guards in Guantanamo base they can
  20. You have a point , I have 16 lane highway 200 meters from my windows so my noise tolerance must be much higher due to training.LOL. Not only Thais , it seems all South Asians have the same affliction and I recall with horror some overnight trips by Indian buses and Chinese trains. But my point to OP was: don't be afraid to take Boyztown hotel as it may be much more quieter than you expect in such location, proven 3 times.
  21. Last three trips I was staying in LeCafe Royale in standard rooms on either 2 or 3rd floor and never had any problems with soi noise at night but complains are surfacing on forums from time to time so it seems it depends on the hotel / room.
  22. it's easy to get from Boyztown to Jomtien and back during day , just hop on songtaew -you will see them lining up on 2nd Road just south of intersection with South Pattaya Rd, easy 150 meters walk from Boyztown. If you tired with the trip, whole 10 minutes, you can always stop and relax at Bamboo bar before heading to the beach. The same before your return trip if you feel anxiety, boys there are quite relaxable. Rest assured Boyztown will keep you occupied those two days, forget the beach, Copa massage boys are available from late morning and you can get your tan just by walking around the block.
  23. About Sunflower I'm not sure, what I know there's sign on the door leading to internal staircase indicated 500 charge for unregistered guests but if that's enforced or not I don't have an idea. Nantra Silom website says the same but neither me not Xiluzer who recommended that hotel to me never had any issues with guests , they seem not to care at all and don't even hold guests ID. So same of those signs may be just to appease police rather than scary of whoring tourists. As for comparison between Om Yim and Nantra Silom honestly I'd say it's toss a coin, heads you win, tails you don't lose either. Nantra advantages: newer and more modern hotel and fixtures, lots of daylight in the rooms, free basic breakfast included /tea, coffee, toast, jam , cereals /, has elevator with exception of 2nd floor, reception staff not intrusive at all, steps from 7/11, about 8 massage places and 4 go-go bars within 2 minutes walk / Tawan , Super A, Nature Boys and Golden Cock/, free computers in the lobby Disadvantages : washbasin in the room, no closet / railing to hang your clothes above that desk provided / , refrigerator and safety deposit box in the open, reception staff indifferent Om Yim advantages: excellent restaurant on ground floor /with BKK second best chicken with cashew nutson the offer /, reception holds your guest’s ID, much bigger rooms, exchange counter with possibly BKK best rates steps from hotel, ARENA within the same block, right at BTS, tea/coffee making facilities in the room, washroom is separated from the room by the door, big closet, safety deposit box and refrigerator hidden in the closet, cemetery right behind hotel. Disadvantages: no breakfast even for purchase as restaurant opens at 11 a.m., no elevator , 7/11 very close but on another side of busy Narathiwas so to access it one needs to climb BTS stairs. During my May trip both hotels had maintenance issues: Nantra smelly / durian / refrigerator, leaking shower, Om Yim non flashing toilet and 2 insects spotted/ I had their biggest and most expensive room/. Overall I’m happy with both , at 35-40 $ at the very city center close to everything I need both are very good value. At the moment I’m slightly tilted toward Nantra reason being I become big fan of Tawan and bar is 157 steps from the hotel while it's about 753 to Om Yim so walking distance with the hot boy I may be overheated.
