Kokopelli is correct. There was no competition between the two Sunee Plaza gogo bars. Completely different customer base with some minor overlap due to scarcity of options.

I am fortunate to enjoy young Asian guys in their 20’s to early 30’s. I also enjoy Latinos and have decided to visit Brazil and some Spanish speaking countries as soon as feasible. I’m fortunate that facial hair doesn’t bother me in the slightest and like muscular gays way more than slim twinks. My main aversion is to feminine lady boys..hairy backs and hairy asses another aversion. I’ve viewed boytoys more often than gay Thailand/gayguides and love variety. There is a gay world beyond hairless Asian teenage boys. Kudos to Michael for encompassing the worldwide gay scene. I’m fully aware I’m in a small minority on this forum.

Another former Pattaya farang also died at around the same time. He was known as Hubba Bubba Jim and died in Atlanta, Georgia of Covid. Jim didn’t post but was a well known raconteur.

Some farang ponied up 400-500,000 baht for the renovation of JoJo beer bar in Jomtien Complex, just a few weeks ago. Same farang keeping Soda Massage going until a few days ago. I’m not sure it was same farang but one at least was an airline pilot. Hard to keep track of the scuttlebutt as my interest in these establishments wasn’t strong.

I heard that the owner of the three Zings paid for six months rent for a bubblebutt boy from Winnerboysbar. He could have put the boy in one of his Zings but probably know from experience to separate work from pleasure. Bad timing to open bars

Hungry Panda is a treat. Only restaurant I’ve eaten in with NYC American style Chinese food. Excellent. also grill and tapas and even Thai food. We have back many times.

As has been stated many times before, the boy bar scene has been in decline for many years . Well before covid , I was often the only customer at most of the boy gogo bars. Only exception was Boyzboyzboyz which was packed with Asian Women and men and nary an older gay farang. Toy Boys was also mostly Asians, women and men but gay older farangs were plentiful but then the numbers boys drastically declined. My guess was that salaries were reduced or cut off and only freelancers showed up. If the tourists return, then it’s possible the boy bar scene will revive with the major factor being Chinese Women and men. As gaybutton mentioned the apps are busy with many boys and Jomtien Complex is the place to go now..

While I understand the anger and annoyance of the previous posters, the fact remains that Taiwan and Thailand have done an amazing job of controlling the spread of Covid. We’d all like 100% but human nature prevents perfection. I have felt far safer living in Thailand than I would in any first-world Western nation, far far safer..

The furniture was being removed and the end of Boyzboyzboyz has happened. Cupidol and Castro will shut down in days. Boyztown is finished.. The fat lady has sung!

An alternative is to have one boy sit with you for chuck wow show. Same 300b. plus a drink for the boy. You can assist the boy.

The good news is that Nice Boys was back to normal. I was the only customer but had fun.

I stopped in Nice Boys last night and was surprised to see no boys on stage. Then a few moments later 2 or 3 fully dressed boys lumbered up on the stage. One of the Thai bosses said somerhing about masks and Covid and did I want to sit down. It was dark (just some dim red lights) and the a/c was turned off but I thought I saw a couple of other fully dressed boys hanging around. I turned around, still in shock and declined the offer. The boss shrugged and looked distressed. I hope it was a one night thing (it was 9:45pm) but with recent surge of Covid cases in Thailand, I just don’t know. I called a friend to see if Winner Boys was operating normally and it was, so maybe the problem was just at Nice Boys..

Last night was the 11th anniversary of Xboys gogo bar on Pattayaland soi 1. There was a good sized crowd and it was actually cold inside as it was a very cool night with many Thais wearing jackets. The show was nothing special as many boys have gone home. B-Boys good as always although not as many as before. I was told there would be a second show later as well as a cake. Considering the COVID nightmare, it was a good show in the worst of times, like 2020 in general.

Some older gay men cannot grasp the concept of ‘boy bars’. They persist in thinking of boy bars as gay bars. Women and lady boys/men have always been welcome in boy bars. Asians socialize differently than older gay men and go to boy bars in groups. Many older gay men are lone hunters. Asians often buy bottles of whiskey and set up while most lone farangs sit with a bottle of water or a soda,asking for more ice, complain about the air conditioning and the loudness of the music. Most Asian groups buy drinks for the boys and tip. The older gay men are dinosaurs and are tolerated by the boy bars but the money is from Asians. Clearly, I’m generalizing and there are big spender farangs who buy boys drinks and tip generously and lone Asians who are cheapskates. Some boy bars that feature slim young twinks do cater to older gay men but welcome females with open arms. Sunee plaza used to have many such bars but times have changed and even before Covid, almost all of the Sunee Plaza boy bars are gone as well as many that were in the Boyztown area, especially on Pattayaland soi 1 many years ago.
