SP has a variety of good restaurants, even Viet and Thai If you're in a city served by Copa airlines, they offer very good fares to S. America

I've been agreeing with you a lot recently.... I've posted about this same thing, with Thailand in the lead for food, massage, hotels, shopping and better choice of Business class flights. Something similar happened to me when I used the ATM outside of the The Bangkok Christian Hospital....the sun reflection was so bad on the screen I couldn't read the screen, and I thought the conversion OK, was Continue. When I saw the receipt I almost shit. I took a picture of the screen showing it was nearly black. I knew I wouldn't win the DCC (Dynamic currency conversion) dispute, so I disputed that the machine didn't dispense any currency. I won the dispute because the Thai bank never responded to the dispute request and their time to do so ran out....I suspected that would be the outcome. My justification was that's what they get for being so greedy with their DCC % 😉

I have a German friend that lives in BKK, he says the more "conservative" or religious these places are the more activity on the apps...he likes Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also....

Bali and Jakarta, there used to be a gay disco in Jakarta that was fun, but they didn't survive Covid. The apps will keep you busy enough, there's no need to leave your hotel room, lol I'm going to try Surabaya on this trip as well for the first time. Side note, I met someone in Jakarta about 4 yrs ago that was def bf material and he arrived in NYC to study the same day I landed in Bali in Sept.. I'll see him in NYC next week though.
