When will Thailand open to Tourists- question/speculation?
Travellerdave replied to floridarob's topic in The Beer Bar
I would certainly echo that statement Boy69 with the slight amendment to 2001 - 2008. 2001 was when I discovered Thailand and made my first trip to Pattaya having up to then spent holidays in Playa des Anglais (Gran Canaria). Myself and a gay friend took a few days to hear about Sunee And locate it but when we did we took advantage of its vibrant scene of gogos, bars and of course the boys. -
I’m getting close to writing year 2020 off. Indeed all foreign travel from U.K. seems impossible and not worth the potential hassle. My long term plan at the start of the year was 3 weeks in Thailand in January/February. The same in July/August and maybe a longer trip in November. I’m thankful I got the first one in providing me with a number of happy experiences. The lockdown started very soon after my return home.

Bar boys should be allocated an elite card. For us gay sex tourists they are essential workers

I watched a video on YouTube yesterday which consisted of a tour on motorbike of Pattaya post bar opening which featured BT and adjacent Sois. All the bars appeared to be closed and the producer commented that it looked like a ghost town with no people in evidence. Certainly the Ambiance terrace Was empty. It has been mentioned that there are Currently approximately 2500 farang expats in Pattaya Plus a few stranded tourists. The number of these who are gay or bisexual who would patronise gay bars will be not sufficient to support the previous scene. Thus I expect the bars in BT to remain closed until flights and tourism commence (who knows when ?). I myself feel deprived of my Regular trips to Pattaya with its Asian boys and gay scene.

Cupidol used to be my favourite Gogo in BT - it used to be known for twinks. It’s no doubt difficult for Cambodian boys to enter Thailand and perhaps they have heard that there are few customers.

Very brief report of 21st trip to Thailand in Jun 2020
Travellerdave replied to vinapu's topic in Gay Thailand
I’ve spent 4 months in lockdown hardly spending any money. I would love to distribute my savings to worthy recipients [ie Asian boys and gay bars}. Unfortunately travel to Thailand from the U.K. seems completely impractical as the moment with quarantine requirements on arrival and also on return to U.K. , despite flights being available. I don’t understand why Thailand is still on the U.K. list for quarantine whereas many European destinations with far worse Covid records have been free. if somehow I did manage a trip setting a budget would be the last thing on my mind ! -
I’ve seen a video on YouTube showing boy bars in the Jomtien Complex open. No doubt a few gay expats will patronise but tourists like myself are waiting for the situation to become easier to warrant purchasing a flight. Maybe October/November ?.

Bars in Pattaya have always relied on Free spending tourists for the bulk of their business. Hence Pattaya as we knew it will not return until flights from Europe and North America resume. I can’t wait to make another visit but I fear that it will not be Possible or worth while until November/December or into 2021.

Noise is a passion killer for me when in bed with a boy. My ideal hotel is close to the action but far enough away to kill bar noise. All the Complex major hotels meet my specification.
-
I find there is often the temptation to bareback when waking up whilst in bed with a boy, rather than fiddling about with a condom, but I have resisted in recent years, Unlike when I first discovered Thailand and Pattaya 20 years ago when I used up my luck in this department, not contracting any infections, despite anal sex with a lot of boys.

Jocks ? Whities ? G-strings ? No top ? Speedos ?

Any info on the gay beach. Will it exist ?

Vinapu - your guess is music to my ears. I am following developments with rapt attention and am hoping for news that a gay bar has re-opened

Here in the U.K. there is the feeling that international travel In the late summer and autumn will be more likely than It seemed a month or so ago. Airlines and travel operators are starting to advertise schedules from July onwards. In Thailand a big moment will be when alcohol can be served in restaurants and bars. The world is full of potential tourists who love Thailand who are eagally awaiting for conditions to permit a visit. Many affluent gays are definitely in this category. In Bkk and especially in the resorts, opening a bar will require much less capital Than previously given the huge availability of premises. I love to think that a trip to Pattaya during the period August to October will be possible to get my “fix” of the atmosphere and especially of Asian boys who will come back from Isaan drawn by the money. I am following the blogs about this on YouTube with interest !

Think I would swop a mild dose of the virus for a week or two Enjoying Cambodian boys, although if Thailand opens up sometime September to December that’s where I will be.
-
My belief is that the pandemic will subside to manageable levels towards the end of this year. International air travel will resume subject to precautions against infection and at a rather higher cost. The Thai economy is highly dependant on tourism and the nation has escaped relatively unscathed from the virus. Many gay tourists, including myself, have a high level of disposable income and have a desire to spend time in Thailand where the culture is welcoming. I think a small number will start arriving in a few months joining gay expats and will want sex with Asian boys and will first find them using the apps. A big moment will be the emerging of a small number of open bars where gays congregate and where boys will come to find them, looking for an income much higher than that to be found on the farms and factories. Gogo bars will open rather later. These are my hopes and I try to keep in touch with the scene by logging onto this board and another, awaiting my possible next trip during late 2020 early 2021.

I also don’t keep in touch with Asian guys I’ve offed or dated in Pattaya, but I did get a message from a boy Recently whilst I had a quick look into Planet Romeo. During my February trip I had engaged him for short time And then overnight a couple of days later. He just asked if I was ok and I replied to the affirmative. No request for money came. Being an attractive boy he no doubt is ok financially.

I’ve been checking YouTube - there still seems to be some foreigners around in Pattaya. They are probably expats and a few tourists who arrived before the lock down having paid for long stay accommodation. The situation must be boring and unnerving for them. A small proportion must be gay with or without boyfriends. Looking at the gay dating sites I thought there would be more boys offering their services owing to the bars being closed, but saw only a few. as to alcohol I can take it or leave it. In the bars I would often have just one beer or G&T or even a coke.
-
I very much agree with z909 although I would not go so far as to prefer gogo boys to be naked - that was often found in Pattaya gogos 15+ years ago. G-strings or jocks would be my preference. Having said that, at the moment I would like an Asian boyFriend whatever he was wearing

I have to admit that I have never eaten durian fruit and have seldom offed hunks like those in the photo, but no doubt many members of this board are acquainted with both. But course the lady has zero interest for me, but Vinapu confesses an attraction in the culinary sense. thanks to spoon for making a interesting post - we need more of the same in these boring times.
-
That’s not good news spoon. I was hoping to be able to make a trip in August/September but it would seem that this will not be feasible. On the other hand perhaps gay expats will have a good time with the available boys ?

I have a small investment in gold with Bullion Vault, who hold physical gold for customers which can be sold at any time. I bought my holding 5 years ago so at this moment I am showing a Good Paper profit so I wish I had bought more. I inherited 4 krugerrands from my mother 20 years ago but I sold them for a fraction of today’s value. Thai people like their gold in the form of jewellery which they can wear in addition to it being a form of savings, which they can sell in hard times like in the current emergency. No doubt some boys have have received gold jewellery presents from their foreign boyfriends, but the majority would have sold it. Some 15 years ago I gave a present of gold ear-rings to a very attractive boy who lived with me in Pattaya for about a month during a long stay. but I recall the value only being about 8000 baht when a pound bought about 60 baht. He looked gorgeous wearing them.

One hundred years ago {1918 to 1920) influenza killed millions throughout the world (over 100.000 in the U.K.). Even now it can be very dangerous particularly for older people, but the world has learnt to live with it and there are vaccines. The same will apply to Covid19 tests reveal that many have unknowingly had it and many more just have very mild symptoms. I would not mind either in exchange for a few nights with a hot Asian boy. Maybe a trip in the autumn might be possible to Thailand / Phillipines if the gay scene has been re-established. The boys in brown must be missing their tea money and tourist revenue is vital for SE Asian economies. The aviation industry will want to revive.

What was the greatest night you ever had in Bangkok?
Travellerdave replied to AlexThompson's topic in Gay Thailand
A lot of my most memorable experiences were during my first couple of trips to Pattaya in 2002 and 2033 in company with a gay friend, when the pound bought 70 baht. Multiple boys in bed were often the order of the day.. Great to recall those days whilst I’m now locked down back home in England. One day after a sex filled night we took our cute “boyfriends du jour” to the gay beach during a beautiful sunny afternoon whilst the sea was flat calm. We had bought them brief speedos so after beers we took them in the sea for a while, kissing and playing in the warm water. Back to the chairs with more beers my friend made the remark “life’s not so bad after all”. After eighteen years we still mention that day.
