  1. To repeat, it's not a moral judgement. If you drive 80 miles an hour through a school zone, we don't say "who are you to judge?" we say "that's dangerous and stupid." It annoys the fuck out of me that people try to turn this into some moral judgement issue so they can get up on their high horse about "the man keeping them down". It has nothing to do with that. It's dangerous, reckless and irresponsible. If we didn't have a deadly plague that kills people, I'm sure those of us objecting would feel different. I barebacked in the early 80s when we didn't know much better. I haven't since. The whole idea that "everybody is doing it" is poisonous and false. I watched enough people die. I'd rather come off as an asshole on the subject than an enabler. Your pretending this is a moral issue is blinding you to the more basic truth about what this behavior is about.
  2. It's not "holier than thou" to come down on behavior that spreads a deadly virus for which there is no cure. The long term treatment of HIV also rots your body. See the NY Times article I linked on the subject. HIV is not the common cold. Even if you're HIV positive, HIV mutates. Engaging in unsafe sex spreads the mutations and increases your odds of giving and getting something drug resistant. This isn't a moral judgement, it's a simple IQ test. He fails.
  3. My sentiments as well.
  4. It is the hypocrisy, not the prostitutes, that bothered me. If you're going to build your reputation on being a tireless foe of the illegal and immoral, then you need to not do things that you rail against. Beyond that, I view it as an issue between his wife and him.
  5. I light candles too, and I'm not religious. I appreciate the stories from those who knew him, since I didn't. I liked the community he built.
  6. We try to avoid partisan politics here. We've discussed the campaign, but have tried to keep it at a polite and distant level. I think this post crosses the line. I'm a Hillary supporter, and I disagree with your assessment completely. But I don't think this forum would be in any way enriched by the argument about it. I'd encourage moderation of this thread.
  7. Chillmaster, I'm afraid we'll have to disagree. As a reader of the site, I do want that form of editorial direction.
  8. I'm sorry, but I'm not aware of how many reviews you've written. I don't pay attention to that for anybody. I look at individual reviews. If an individual review isn't helpful to me, it doesn't matter that you've written 20 other helpful reviews. The top section I view as only a repeat of what the escort posts about himself. I've seen reviews that say 'bottom' but the body of the review makes clear it was only mutual oral. If you can find no more detail to provide, then perhaps don't do a review on that escort?
  9. Thank you TY. And to our upset friend. I have no relationship to this site other than as a user. I want you to know know that I want more details. I'm sorry if it upsets you, but what you wrote about Noah doesn't tell me what I need to know to make a decison. Is he a top or a bottom? Did he do oral? Did you? Many people enjoy muscle worship sessions. I don't. I have particular desires from escorts, and if you don't tell me what the two of you did, I have no way of knowing if the escort can satisfy my desires. TY isn't being a jerk about reviews. He's asking you to include enough detail that others might understand if your experience with the escort will help them know if the escort is right for them. If you're unwilling to provide this detail, then you're not really helping me, another client trying to find escorts who meet my needs.
  10. My guess is reviews got rejected because they didn't contain enough detail. I find the reviews that say something like "Omigod, he was so hot, heavenly hosts sang and god spoke to me.... but what happened between us will remain between us." There is nothing there that helps me make a hiring decision. I'm guessing TY said as much and upset our friend who thought such reviews were valuable. But... I really don't know, I'm just trying to read the tea leaves.

    Bye bye Obama

That's not a fair comparison. It wasn't easily disproven. And when you have a story like that, you run it. If you think any publication would run something they know is false, you don't understand how media works. They ran it because it was hot. Had they had the same on Kerry, they would have run it too. The media are whores. They may have their preferences, but when money and a story is on the line, that's what they care about. I think a better comparison is the stupid NY times story on McCain. They ran it because they thought others had gotten it, but they still shouldn't have run it. It was vacuous.
  12. But why would the assumption he's an escort generate anger, unless he had issues with it? How about, "No, I don't, sorry."
  13. Sodomy used to be illegal in about half the states not so long ago. I would think the gay community wouldn't be making judgement calls on legality. And when you strip that away, I don't see much difference between performing for your camera and performing for a client. I think he has issues with selling himself that he's trying to cover.

    Larry Craig

I imagine they thought, "why bother? He's already destroyed." It seems a fair enough penalty for his part of the sleaze. Hypocrisy isn't against senate ethics rules, and that's what he's really guilty of.
  15. I just got back from a long trip to SE Asia. I didn't go to Burma, but many who did. They echoed the comments about the friendliness of the people, and that many of them are quite desperate for the tourist dollar. I would have gone if we'd had more time. I think isolation suits the military government just fine. I think visiting and spending a few bucks is more likely to help than to hurt. my .02
  16. I think our society gets us pretty confused about love. An endless diet of romantic comedies tries to persuade us that there is one form of "true love", and that if ours doesn't look like that it isn't the real thing. I'm married. To my best friend. I spent most of my twenties trying to figure out how to get a mr. hottie that I could fall in love with. One day I woke up and realized I was already in love. This friendship as I had characterized it was deeper and richer by far than a lot of couples I knew. But I'd been blind to it, because it wasn't sexual. It didn't look like what I thought it was supposed to look like. We've been married over 10 years now, and are happy as can be. When I want to get laid, I hire. I think that what the heart wants and what the penis want don't have to be the same thing. As long as all parties accept it.
  17. There are something over 10 million illegals in this country. Doing jobs that americans won't do. We have horrible problems here in Oregon getting enough farm labor for the crops. Farmers have had to switch crops to things that require less labor to avoid having things rot in the field. I'm not exactly thrilled that we have a ton of illegal immigrants, but I think it's a consequence of us not having a proper immigration policy that allowed the workers our country needs to come here. Deporting them won't work while we have such a need for the labor.
  18. Romney folding surprised me, but I think it makes sense. Once you've lost it, you're not getting it back at this stage of the race. The conservatives seem to be livid, but I think McCain is a lot more conservative than they give him credit for, he just doesn't kiss ass on the right very well. I think he's much more electable because he has a image as a maverick. Read an interesting letter from Bob Dole to Rush Limbaugh about McCain a few days ago. Bob Dole was pointing out that McCain's voting record by some measure was as conservative as Jesse Helms! On the democratic side, I also think Hillary has lost it. She's lost the momentum, the fund raising, and Obama has overcome his lack of experience issue to be viewed as very viable. I think the slow bleed out for her started tuesday. We'll see.
  19. I agree that I can't imagine an Obama/Clinton ticket either way. I think John Edwards gets offered something else other than VP if Obama wins. I don't think Clinton will offer him anything.
  20. My prediction is for McCain to win. If not enough to seal the nomination, enough to dominate the republican side. On the democratic side, I think Obama will do better than polls suggest as he continues to surge. But, I think Hillary will 'win' super tuesday. I think with the proportional distribution on the democractic side, it's tough to call how that one will go beyond that. If Obama splits super tuesday with Hillary, then I think her candidacy is in deep trouble and may be doomed.

    CLOVERFIELD

I didn't like it. The camera work was just silly to me. I understand the desire for realism, but a lot of the time you couldn't see anything on the screen as the camera was pointed the floor, or was spinning around so fast you'd get sick if you watched the screen. The characters also annoyed me, so I was kinda disappointed when they all didn't get eaten.
  22. I used to be, but I'm not any more. As I've gotten older and switched jobs, I just stopped announcing it to everyone. I'd rather they knew, but I don't want to put in the effort, and I'm not really close to any of them. The fact that I married my best friend has complicated matters, because then I'd have to explain that our relationship is amazing and wonderful, but that it isn't a traditional marriage. That would probably lead to questions about open marriages that just seem like unprofessional conversations to have. That said, I've come out to a few people at work who I've gotten closer to, and if someone outed me, I wouldn't care much.
  23. I'm envious. I wish I had the economic opportunity to do it. Sounds like fun. Growing up a military brat, I'm not much attached to my stuff. I think a laptop and the road and I'd be good.
  24. I agree with the think local sentiment. I'm working to support a county commissioner in a non-partisan race because I think she's great for our county. I'm not going to give nationally again.
  25. Those were the negatives I was talking about, when you'd vote for any other candidate. Personally, one of the reasons I prefer Hillary, though I'll vote for Obama if he wins the nomination, is the failed health care plan. I don't have the same reaction to her that lots do though. I just see a strong successful woman. I want a president who has learned the hard way how to get things done in Washington. I fear Obama is too green at a time when learning on the job isn't a great idea. I'd rather vote for him in 8 years. Edwards just seems creepy to me. Does anybody else think endorsements matter much? I can't think of any time when somebody else's recommendation of a candidate swayed me. Most of the folks I know I would think of the same way. Maybe I just hang around different crowds.
