Haha, or my bf would think I have someone other...
-
So maybe I should save my bf:s number in my phone then....with the name ICE

Hmm, where to buy a thai-keyboard in Pattaya? I guess you can find one in Tuk-Com? My bf struggles with copy and paste with an online-thai-keyboard when he writes in thai to his friends, so I thought it could be a good idea to buy one, and connect it to his laptop. Do you know how much it would be? 200-300 baht? In case you wonder why I ask: I will be there in about 13 days

Same here, I have been to Thailand only 7 times, and stayed alltogether there for about 6-7 months. Never has anybody wanted to see my passport elsewhere than when checking in to a hotel. When I go out, in daytime or night-time, I dont have anything with me except my phone and a comb and lighter + cigarrettes. Sometimes, if I get the chance to go out by myself alone (in the day), I have some hundred baht with me in my pocket. I could never even think about carrying a passport with me, that would be too much, as I never have a wallet either.

I hope you'll get over it, though ;-)

A couple of years ago, we went to Big-C to buy a micro-owen for my bf:s aunt, with whom he stayed. I found a cheap, normal micro with no extras, and suddenly there was a young salesman, so I asked if he would suggest any other model. He could not point out any other in the same price range, so I decided we'll take that one. He lifted the box down from the shelf, and begun open the package! I said no no, don't open it. He just smiled, and continued. Then he plugged it in the wall, and put it on heating! And, wow, it worked!! This is something that would never occur in my country. If I buy something here I am pretty confident with it will work. Of course you can have bad luck and get a defect product, but in Thailand they seem to expect it to be unfunctional, until proved othervise.

As ceejay pointed out, this is a discussion about incidents. Therefore I fully understand his point. This picture posted, is not just a pic from sunee to show people how it looks, it is a picture about him who reacted when the photo was taken. I guess ceejay would not have anything against this pic if it was posted for example in a thread called "Pics from Pattaya" ?

Didn´t think this would upset so many. The moderator can delete it if he wants. But just look around in internet. There are thousands of pics from the bars. One example only: http://www.up2u-boybar-pattaya.com/. There are pics that I know that the thais were not asked about permission. In my pic I have the permission of one in the pic, he is right now here with me. I feel it is quite impossible to take a pic in Pattaya, without catching any outsiders in the pic. Someone said he would have deleted the pic, if that man became so upset. I would not! But we can discuss if it was right to upload it here.

A very sad announcement re: owner of Panarama and Funny Boys
Mysteryman replied to a topic in Gay Thailand
Sorry to hear this. I did not know him, but have seen him sometimes in Pattaya and in pics on the net, from some charity-raising events. -
So, he is the pic... just to get more people to register, hehe... And in case you recognise yourself... no hard feelings, ok? Ps. Click on the photo to see it fully....

When I am in Thailand, well you can say Pattaya for that matter, we usually go to Big-C north in the afternoon, and the restaurant inside called Maesriruen. This is not a fancy place, but the food is ok. Later in the evening we head towards Oh-A-Harn-Thai. This is my favourite place. Really tasty food there.

Some years ago, December 2006, as I visited Pattaya for the first time, I had my camera with me in the evening. I felt I wanted to have a picture of the bar where he who I had come to see worked. So I just picked up my camera and snapped one quickly. This was in the evening, so the flash lit up the scene a bit. Then the foreigner, who walked in front of me turned around, and said to me: "Do you really have to take pictures here?" I didn't reply at all. I still have the pic, and the man can be seen from behind on that pic, and nobody other can be recognised either. This is the only time I've taken a picture outside the bars. Maybe some of you would know him if I only could show the pic to you, but would that be inappropriate, as I have no way of asking him for permission... Btw...how do I upload a pic to this site? Can I upload straight from my computer, or do I need to link it to some Flickr or similar?

To me it is a normal visa that allows you to stay in Thailand for 30 days, and can be extended by 7 days at an immigration center.
-
Are we sure about this? Because here they say like this, read chapter 5.4 5. Recommendations for foreigners with Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (Long Stay) while staying in the Kingdom 5.1 Upon arrival, holder of this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for 1 year from the date of first entry. During the one-year period, if he or she wishes to leave and re-enter the country, he or she is required to apply at the Immigration office for re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. In the case of leaving the country without a re-entry permit, the permit to stay for 1 year shall be considered void. 5.2 At the end of the 90-day stay , the foreigner must report to the immigration officer in his or her residence area and report again every 90 days during his or her stay in Thailand. The foreigner may report to the police station if there is no immigration office in his or her residence area. 5.3 Foreigner may report to the competent authority by post and should provide the following: - A report form (Tor Mor 47). - A copy of passport pages showing the foreigner’s photo, personal details, and the latest arrival visa stamp. - A copy of the previous receipt of acknowledgement. - A self-addressed envelope with postage affixed. Such documents must be sent to the Office of the Immigration Bureau, Soi Suan Plu, South Sathorn Road, Sathorn District, Bangkok 10120, and must be submitted 7 days before the end of every 90-day period. A receipt of acknowledgement will be given and should be used for future correspondence. 5.4 Foreigner who wishes to extend his or her stay shall submit a request for extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau with documented evidence of money transfer or a deposit account in Thailand or an income certificate showing an amount of not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate plus a deposit account showing a total amount of not less than 800,000 Baht. A one-year extension of stay shall be granted at the discretion of the immigration officer to the foreigner as long as he or she meets the above requirements. http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2493

Ok, now I see, one should read before posting... This is when you arrive over land-border apparently. But then you could stay forever in Thailand if you only have the money to fly....hmmm?
-
Please explain this, as I have never put any great effort in trying to understand how these things work... I arrive at Suwarnabhumi from Finland, after standing in the queue, I get the 30 days stamp. Why do I only get 15 days if I go to another country during my holiday when returning? I suppose they can´t know where I´ve been if they don't check the pages in my passport, which I am pretty sure about thay have never done. They just open a new page and put the stamp there.

Ahhh... It was about food...

I am not sure if I can give any good advice on this, but I wonder if there really are "gay-unfriendly" hotels in Pattaya? Hotels I've stayed at are Mountain Beach, Mercure, Pattaya Bay Resort and Mosaik Apartments. No problems with these. Other accomodations have been renting some apartment from other westeners. This year I will be staying at Renu House. If you can afford 70$/night, you will live like a King in my opinion. Half that price or less, will also give you good accomodation.... in my opinion.

Howdy, Last year I was there in Pattaya around october-november, the closed LaCage was supposed to open under new management. For me it has been a good bar always, first with David, and later with Mike. However, it didn´t open before I had to return home. Now I am soon coming there again (together with my bf, as we are now married and he lives here) arriving on christmas eve. I suppose the bar is up and running?
-
Thanks for all answers, now it's soon off to the first airport. In 19 hr from now, Ton and I should be in Bkk.

Actually we go to HuaiChan, so a bit shorter than Sisaket. What internetpages would be worth checking, in search of a traffic report? Trying to avoid being ripped off, how much can I expect to pay for rent? Lets say we rent in afternoon, leave next morning, stay at destination 3 nights, begin journey back in early morning, return car next day. 5 days as I am used to count. I know it depends on size of the car, how about a Vios automatic for example.
-
Hi Rogie! I will stay one month. Last year weather was ok for me already in October (arrived 10.10), but this year it might be a bit more wet. We are planning to rent a car, and drive to Sisaket. I don't really have a clue about the floods along the roads to there. We plan to go around the 20th Oct, and stay some 4 days, and then drive back.
-
Ok, thanks for your reply. I'll come then
-
Howdy! Arriving in Pattaya on sunday. Is it worth coming due to all the flooding?
-
Haha, yes funny indeed. I use the safe, but I never take guests to my room, I have my "own" guest, and I tell him the combination for the safe also. We use to go to Isaan for a couple of days. I never take all my money with, because there are no safes at the place we stay. When we leave the hotel in Pattaya, I take out all money and hide it somewhere else in the room, leaving only some not important papers. The place I used last time could never had been found out, if not the whole building would have collapsed.
