I thought worth a new title as this place bound to be much talked about. At behest of Vinapu I attended opening night of new bar Atlas. It is opposite Hot Male on site of previous Sol and Dreamboys. In summary it is Tawan moved to a bigger and better venue. Focus on muscle and seemed to be largely drawn from previous staff and performers at forementioned. Show had same ingredients as I recall from Tawan - Bodybuilding displays - then ladyboy singers, aiming for comedy - Then the muscle show and as explicit as you see these days with blow jobs and one twink being fucked and toward end the tip for cum show. - also the big cock and floor boy rotations Mix of boys - Some genuinely good muscle, some a bit hefty, odd twink, oldish on whole and same approach of being very interactive with audience - Joining for drinks and circulating for big cock show. it helped there were some guests, including Vinapu’s friend, who opened bottles and were tipping - also a very generous Chinese man giving red notes infinitum and cans of soft drink. This creates ambiance and reduces the sense of pressure on others Audience maybe 40 patrons over evening. Very, very few women. if you liked Tawan, you will like this place Question is can they rebuild that ‘offer’ and will they see inevitable closure of ‘the one’ which replaced old Tawan.7 points

It may be because I've just returned from Thailand and am, bluntly, fed-up....that I can sympathise with visitors who have disappointments there; we all do, whether it be an unsuccessful "off" or, in my case, a poor meal. Very few of those, by the way! However, for someone contemplating a grey, chilly day in London, thousands of miles away from his loved-one I must encourage adopting the Buddhist principle of (as P tells me, ad nauseam) "thinking good." It is true that, the older I get, the harder it is to look on the bright side but, for heaven's sake, the vast majority of guys on the scene whom we meet are friendly, reasonable in their demands. And fun. That was my experience, anyway. For me, just to wander through the JC before bedtime (embarrassingly early in my case) enjoying the cheerful smiles, the enticing offers- cheerful and not persistent when refused- and the sheer joyfulness (at their best) of the guys is something I treasure. And even more so in retrospect. I just like being smiled at! Is there anywhere else in the world where such pleasures are available so cheaply and so safely? and when the assignation isn't so good, it is so easy to say, "Mai pen rai; tomorrow's will be better". And it will be.6 points

Banana bar lively last night. It does offer a mix of all the aspects of the bar ‘entertainment’ with some decent energy and humour ladyboy divas singing and dancing showboys singing and dancing, great choreography gogos big cock show and performances floor boys But the most fun is the people watching. Huge turnover given location. From the clearly shocked tourists getting more than they bargained for!, to the Asian equivalent of the large hen nights. Perhaps 50% female last night. one boy, no 56, got called down to sit with European couple and was tasked with fingering her while her man did similar. It was quite the performance. drink is 380 baht which is fine if you reconcile it as a price including the entertainment/shows5 points

Manila, Cebu, or Davao
floridarob and 3 others reacted to TMax for a topic
It's been a long time since I was there. My first choice would be up in mountains in Baguio, it's not the prettiest city around but I like the climate there (never too hot and I have never needed air con when up there even in the wet season), it's a 5 hour bus ride to Manila on Victory Liners first class or deluxe bus service (even the overnight sleeper royal class). They also have a private hospital up there just in case medical is required, not in the same class as those in Bangkok or St Luke's medical in Manila but good enough for immediate needs. Cebu in my view is little more than a mini Manila and is congested traffic wise so a no for me. Can't say much about Davao as I've never been there but friends are split 50/50 on it, some say it's good because they feel safe there other say it's boring.4 points -

From teen prodigy to Thailand's main man at just 22
Ruthrieston and 2 others reacted to reader for a topic
From ESPN / MSN Suphanat Mueanta has always been destined for big things -- from the time he became the youngest player to both debut and then score in Thai League 1 at the age of 15. A year later, in 2019, he would set a similar record on the continental stage - becoming the AFC Champions League's youngest scorer at just 16 years and eight months. Many a prodigious talent has however failed in living up to their full potential. That will not be the case with Suphanat. Still only 22, the fleet-footed attacker recently returned to Buriram United after a loan stint in Europe with OH Leuven. The fact that he did not make a real breakthrough might led some to suggest it was a failed spell but the exposure he received would have been invaluable, especially considering he did make 14 appearances in the Belgian Pro League. It will be intriguing to see what the future holds for Suphanat, who should be aiming to continue developing at a higher level than in Thailand. Following in the footsteps of older brother Supachok Sarachat -- who has spent the last two and a half years with Consadole Sapporo -- and venturing to Japan's J1 League seems a logical move. In the present, though, his focus is firmly fixed on helping Thailand win a record-extending 8th ASEAN Championship title. And despite his relative youth, his undeniable quality and the fact that he has been around for a while now mean he is even playing the role of main man -- in an talented but inexperienced Thailand outfit missing some notable names in Chanathip Songkrasin, Theerathon Bunmathan and Teerasil Dangda. The added responsibility has hardly fazed him. With victories over Timor-Leste, Malaysia and Singapore, the War Elephants are already guaranted top spot -- and a semifinal berth -- ahead of Friday's Group A finale against Cambodia. Remarkably, Suphanat has been named Player of the Match in each match and already has three goals in as many games. Audacity to ask for money
jamiebee and 2 others reacted to Travelingguy for a topic
I think that it is more about setting limits and compartmentalizing your life. You give money for a service of some kind. They aren’t seeing you for free. Also, in your home country, I don’t think that you would socialize with guys that you are paying. The paid guys and your regular friends would probably be two social circles that do not mix. Since you are now living in Thailand, even if only part of the year, I would treat it similar to how you would have behaved in your home country. I have not been to Pattaya, yet. However, I think that living away from the scene would be a better idea than living too close. That way, you don’t have to walk past the massage shops and bars when doing your daily errands. It isn’t about being bitter or jaded. Just be clear in your own mind that you don’t give money away for free. That is just the way it is. No need to get angry or worked up or guilty or anxious, etc. That is just the way that it is.3 points -

With all this negativity about Cebu - I guess the winner for my "where to retire" trifecta will be Da Nang - as it already meets: 1.) The Jomtien like hirise condos directly on the immense Da Nang seashore. 2.) Traffic in Da Nang is NOTHING like Manila, Bangkok, HCMC, Hanoi, Pattaya, and perhaps Cebu (as I still need to have my feet down on the ground to assess the actual traffic situation). But I still need to go through with this comparing retirement destinations excercise anyway, as actual field research is generally more reliable than just relying on hearsay. My preliminary research for gay life is that Cebu appears to have more to offer (bars, clubs, and saunas) than Da Nang does.2 points -

Manila, Cebu, or Davao
vinapu and one other reacted to bkkmfj2648 for a topic
I am about to embark on this adventure at the end of this month. I am currently a retiree in the Pattaya suburb = Jomtien - a small establishment directly on the Gulf of Thailand beaches with hirise condos all along the beach. Due to the new Thai government recently implementing unfriendly tax laws - I will scout nearby countries for alternate retiree solutions. I am trying to find the Jomtien equivalent in the Philippines - and this has been an enormous challenge to find beaches in the Philippines that have hirise condos directly on the beach like in Miami, Da Nang - Vietnam, and here in Jomtien - Thailand. It appears that most of the beach communities in the Philippines are underdeveloped and do not have clusters of hirise condo buildings with direct sea access. So, I will start my 2 month scouting adventure in Cebu City (near IT Park) - as it has the closest potential similarity to Jomtien - Thailand in nearby Mactan (island) Newtown Beach - as shown in the below map. If one would live in the heart of Pattaya City and wanted to get to the Dongtan gay beach then depending on traffic that would entail anywhere between 15 to 25 minutes. My preliminary research shows that to get from IT Park in Cebu City to the Jomtien area on Mactan island at Newtown beach entails 45 minutes depending on traffic. So I will live for a couple of weeks in Cebu City and then go over to Newtown beach and rent a place in one of the hirise condo towers there so that I can assess how similar it is as the retiree destination that I currently have here in Jomtien. I ruled out Manila as it is too big, crowded, congested, and a general traffic nightmare. For Davao, I could not find any seafront neighborhoods that have a Jomtien hirise condo on the sea feeling to it. @bobtpa1614502761 If you are aware of such places in Davao - please let me know. Thanks.2 points -

Ok so after reading this, I went to check out the hot house. My understanding was that the customers can have fun with the interactive boy for free after the show. And Sunday is the best night. Maybe I got it all wrong so someone can clarify it for me so that I can enjoy it better next time? When we went there it was empty and all night they had only two or three customers including me, but five dancers, I assume they are the gogo dancers. On IG, there was one guy as an interactive but he left at midnight without any action so I am quite puzzled because I was thinking the clients would have fun with him...he left not because they are no customers but he said it is his shift ending at midnight... One of the go go boys offered me to chupa him for $ in the dark room but I was not very interested. Overall I wasn't sure why I paid 130 to see some gogos dance all night in an empty bar without any actions.... I was also told that the bar is open only until 2am on Thursday and Sunday so they said Friday and Saturday are good nights but still without any actions I am not sure if I wanna pay 130... Also. Does 130 include all drinks for free or just a certain number of drinks? I was not asked or explained but just charged for 130... No one was unfriendly but I just felt like it wasn't a good place to waste money...but I know some members here love that place so I must be missing something...1 point

Update Friday 12/20/24 noon in Rio Thanks folks for the various comments. I will leave out some of the typical tourist stuff. Tuesday: Went to the beach around the Aproador area, climbed the rocks and found the muscle gym at the beach near the rocks - sort of like the Flintstones as the benches and weights all seemed to be reinforced concrete. Guys were pretty hot - literally and figuratively as there was no shade there. Not sure how they secure the weights at night. And then another free cabin Tuesday night at 117. The visual smorgasbord was great, though not quite like last week. All depends on what type of guy you are looking for. I was looking for a muscle god with very little fat and a 6 pack. Or even a skinny twink with a nice face and dick. I lusted after Marcel from Sao Paulo. Great kisser. It was a hot session; AC barely was on. Room was a bit warm. LOL. He was hot. This was a 33 yo guy that reminded me of one of the hotter guys in high school years ago. Folks, here cums the bad news: yeah, I paid too much, or did I? Chinese guy from Helsinki made the intro for me as he knew him but did not hire him while he was in Sao Paulo. Another younger guy punter from Rio that I sometimes hang with knew him from a few years ago. Thought he was from Belo Horiz. Guy from Rio also remembered when we balked at me having sex with another super-hot guy for 200 R$ last trip this past spring - because he would not bottom, only oral. The GP from Saturday night remembered me from prior trip. 200R$ to bottom plus oral, kissing, etc, but almost double if he would cum. Inflation, I guess. Marcel offered me a discount for another round of sex ? different day? "Frequent Cummer Club" (gives new meaning to the FCC - regulates broadcasting in the US) …. How about a business class upgrade or a free night at a hotel. Green Stamps maybe? Why did I pay his high asking price? Escorts on Grindr wanted 400 R$ for everything including both of us having happy endings. I tried bargaining with several GPs over several nights at 117, 202, and Meio Mundo. Most would barely drop the asked for rate. So maybe they knew they would get their price from another punter. The guys I talked to and mostly in PT or FR with some EN were hot to my tastes. Or maybe because I am a top. Regardless, I needed the Priceline negotiator, and it wasn't happening, and I did not want to lose this guy. So, I paid and we played. I was at 117 from 1820 to almost 2100 hours. Did not see anyone I thought might be from the Forum or foreigners I recognized from other nights. Wednesday: Spent the day in Niteroi and went to an early evening samba school art exhibit opening at MAC, the museum that looks like a flying saucer, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Yes, as before, the museum has tons of unused space and almost more employees than visitors. Great fun and they had food and drinks for the exhibit opening party. Interesting to mix water, some type of orange juice, very cheap champers, and beer with potato and other hors d'oeuvres and possibly the best guacamole I have had in a long time. If you are shopping for "stuff" or meds, price things out in Rio first, price it out in Niteroi to follow, and you will likely buy in Niteroi, as many prices are much lower here. Caution: a few prices are higher across the bay. Meds (need to check many places) and food can be 1/2 price vs Rio. Got back late via the ferry, so no boys today. I heard there is a sauna in Niteroi but did not check it out or even look it up....LOL. Thursday: Another beach day in the Rookery. While there, I really did not connect with anyone. But then I saw a vision of heaven Imagine Venus de Milo, Ursula Andress (Dr No Bond movie beach scene) gay equivalent coming out of the surf at the gay rookery as I was going in. I took some pics later on. I hope they are ok to post. If not, I understand moderator deletion. Not sure where he was hanging out but was frolicking in the surf with another young friend as I left the beach. Definitely had to get off after seeing him. Yup, Sexy Rose again. from 1730-1900 hours. It was busy, but not like Monday. Places to eat nearby in Cinelandia like Amarelinho da Cinelândia and Chapolin next door - where I ate were packed and had tables up set outside beyond too. Saw many gay couples hand in hand walking around Ipanema when I got back. Friday morning has been sunny then cloudy, back and forth. Might not rain today, though rain is predicted on and off for the next week. Might hit the Fort near copa and aproador. Thinking about going to The Week, if it is still going on Sat night.1 point

Unfortunately, Baguio is not on my list, as I am a sea view loving person. Nearness to the sea and sea view are one of my top 3 priorities for a retirement destination. Thanks for the heads up about the nasty Cebu City traffic situation. I am hoping that the traffic situation on nearby Mactan island Newtown beach area will be similar to the ok level of traffic that we have here in Jomtien. The secret to a happy traffic life here in Jomtien is to minimize the number of times that you need to venture into Pattaya City, as that traffic can be a nightmare.1 point -

Hi Guys, Before my hopefully forthcoming (not first) visit, I summarized the relevant info from the previous 12 months. [Maybe management would find fit to pin it for future uninitiated.] Anyone so inclined, please correct, criticise or add. https://www.saunaspases.com/saunathermas/ Timetable: Friday – Monday: 15:00-23:00 Tuesday – Wednesday: 24 hours Thursday: 7:00-23:00. Best hours to visit: 16:00 – 20:00 [Splash disco party: a late night event, with DJ etc. Not attended particularly by the "boys". More of a general sauna evening.] Room Rates: Entry – 22 eur; on Wednesday – 19.5 Private rooms rates: 15 – 18 – 20 – 25 (levels of luxury). Speedoo: You use one of the free cabins with a small bench and plastic covered mattress, or you rent a larger room with a bed+sheets and light (not dimmed light like in the cabins). On busier nights, might have to wait for them. Riobard: You have the option of 2 towels or 1 towel plus a large terry cloth robe on check-in. If you spread out the robe on a vinyl mattress ()not routinely swabbed between sessions, you get more cloth coverage over it. Another tip: If you rent a room that is put on your check-out tab, you have it for an hour. Write down the time from the clock at reception, making sure the attendant knows you are aware, and optionally keep the key for 55-59 minutes because you may want to fit in at least one more session. Rookie mistake is to hand back the key after 20-30 minutes and then regret it. [The light dimmers generally don’t function well.] Providers: Rate – 50 eur for 20-30 mnts; not including cum. Speedoo: If you want to spend an hour with a guy – you better ask him upfront, so he can price accordingly. I would expect some of the guys to agree to 50 Euro for 1 hour just to close the deal, but with no actual intention of spending that much time with you in the cabin (lots of excuses can come up why a session is ended prematurely). Most “boys” are Latinos from SA; especially Brazil and Venezuela; also east-Europeans. On Saturday and Sunday there’s an influx of only-weekend “boys”. Most are in the 7-inch range and thick enough. Honorably recommended here: Bruno, Paulo, Sergio, Costas, and repeatedly – Nicholas (Chile). Three Recent Impressions: Chucky: Lots of guys there, mostly South American although a couple of East Europeans. Had most of the guys approach, some very handsome and some just big cocks. Lots of Brazilians as usual and some very handsome. Definitely was more choice than last year. AndyUK: Always found this place to be nice, hassle free, great bar area and sexy guys. Top notch. keepItReal: Providers were friendly and almost all of them stopped by to say hello. Still, couldn't find an enthusiastic bttm. Mostly guys were tops or just looking for quick oral fun. Had a good time chatting with some of the providers and they seemed to be in good spirits and quite welcoming. Speedoo: The guys will get condom and lube from the bar in the basement when they agree to go with you to a cabin or room. I don’t recall if you get charged for this when you leave; presumably you do, but it’s only a few Euros. Probably only 1 type standard condoms available. I haven’t seen guys asking for special sized condoms.1 point -

That is the traditional way. However, this new way of paying is no doubt an adaptation to handle the number of customers from east Asia who come from non-tipping cultures. It’s also a good way of pruning away customers who don’t really understand the nature of the shops they are visiting. At Senso you would still give additional tip to boy beyond the minimum tip in room if you’re satisfied with the service.1 point -

I'm now travelling outside of Bangkok, so here are some notes from recent times. It's been a little quiet on the guy-front whilst I've been in recovery, so not too much excitement to report on as of yet. I tried out a couple of hotels (that I haven't tried before) in the general area - BnB98 - I found this whilst perusing google maps. It's in the same small alley as Pula Silom and G.O.D nightclub, and I thought I would give it a try since it didn't look too bad and is well-located. This is a strange one though - you can book via the usual channels (booking.com/agoda) however there is no reception (there is a cafe downstairs that is run by the same people as the hotel - I think). Basically they will send you a one-time-code to open the room and inside is a door card to use for the remainder of the trip. Since there is no reception, my passport details were not taken so I am not sure how they get away with not reporting your stay to immigration (as hotels usually do). Anyhow, the prices are reasonable and there are also some cheap rooms with shared bathrooms. I was booked in for 4 nights, but I lasted 1. My issues - the door did not have any secondary lock from the inside. Since there was no reception, the front door is always open so anyone could just go up into the building. It is so noisy - I could deal with it being so close to the BTS, I could deal with the noise of the nightclub nearby, but I couldn't deal with the man singing karaoke at 6am. The bathroom blinds also didn't fully cover the windows so it's possible someone in the building opposite may have gotten an eyeful if they were looking close enough, and there was no room safe. Some of these things I already knew from reading the reviews, but I just couldn't do it! I thought it would be good to be right up in the action, but I think I would prefer to be slightly a distance away. Or a better hotel with more amenities. Silom Convent Garden Hotel - I actually read about this hotel in a report from Vinapu so decided to try. I ended up getting a very good deal on one of their bigger rooms whilst booking direct online, which the receptionist told me was an error on their side and I should not have gotten it for that price, but he had to honour it since I already paid for it. This place is closer to Chong Nonsi but still in walking distance to all the fun places. The place is quite dated and falling apart slightly but is still fine, and what I especially liked about my particular room type is that it had a washing machine, which was very handy. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but it was good to try somewhere on the other side. It is also right next door to Sauna Mania, and a short distance to Arena for those who are interested. Massage - Senso - I visited here hoping to see the guy that I met in January who I had an excellent time with, but he was not to be found and the manager hadn't heard from him either (I ended up messaging him later on Line and he confirmed he wasn't working there anymore and told me where he was now working). Anyhow, as I entered, another guy entered at the same time as me, however he left shortly afterwards. Perhaps he wasn't keen on the lineup? or the price? The pricing structure is new, compared to how it was previously - a 90 minute massage will cost 3300 THB and is an all-in price that includes both the massage and the tip. I forget how much the 60 minute option cost. I asked the manager to tell me who can do both top and bottom (as I like to flip-flop) and he pointed out who was able. The line up was mostly hunks, but there was this one twink guy that I had my eye on so I ended up choosing him. I had only been to Senso twice before, once in January as already mentioned, and once last year, and I briefly wondered if the guy I chose was the same guy as last year but I couldn't quite remember, and for some reason I remember him being taller. Anyhow, we went upstairs where I firstly had a shower and he then had a shower, and started with the massage which tbh wasn't super sensual but it was okay, and then the afters started which was pretty satisfying. We flip-flopped a few times which was lots of fun and afterwards we had a shower together where he helped me wash the massage oil off. It was at this point that I saw his tattoo of his name that I put 2 and 2 together and it was the guy that I had last year. I didn't recognise him, but in all fairness, he didn't recognise me either lol. We later confirmed when I tried to add him as a friend on Line, he was already my friend. I had a satisfying time, but the guy I had in January, I felt I 'connected' with him more. And the sex was way hotter. So that's me updated for now, will write again when I have more to write about!1 point

Interestingly, a long time ago, I took a taxi from hotel to client. As has been mentioned before, most of Tokyo has no street names. The doorman looks up the address in an enormous map book, dealing with Chome, block no, building no, etc. Off we went. We arrive, taxi driver shows me the building. Drives off. Its the wrong building, he was lost. I had no cluster of helpful Japanese, in deed no English spoken. Luckily I found a pay pho e, and rang client. They then directed me!1 point
