  1. First time I've arrived in the morning in a decade.... was a red eye from India, only a 2 hr flight, I feel pretty fresh as compared to coming after the LONG flights. Arrived at the satellite terminal, 1st time... I've departed from there, was a piece of cake, arriving though is a shit show when more than 1 flight comes in at the same time....maybe it looked good on paper? From landing, immigration, luggage was almost 1st out, to meet mike taxi was 30 minutes in total...not too bad. 1.5 hrs to Pattaya, zero traffic. Ambiance hotel wanted to charge me for early check in, she's kind of new. When I told her I'm a 25 yr customer that books direct so they don't have to pay a commission, she gave me the room. I'm here until Monday and then BKK for a few days...if anyone wants to meet for a drink or do some marching , it'll put a face to the dry sarcasm and cynicism that I'm known for 😉 Looks like I'll miss @Olddaddy seems like he's going to BKK today, wonder if he planned it that way 🤔

  5. Living in the time of Trump, this is feel good story of the week even if the final paragraph is a downer. From Thai PBS World The Thai cabinet decided today to grant Thai citizenship to about 483,000 migrants who have been living in Thailand since 1984 and children born in Thailand to parents in ethnic minority groups. Spokesman for the prime minister’s office, Jirayu Huangsap, said today that, since these documented migrant workers have been working in Thailand for a long time, the cabinet feels that it is appropriate to grant them Thai citizenship, so they can travel freely and still beneficially contribute to the development of the Thai economy. He said that the Ministry of Interior will issue regulations within 60 days for the implementation of today’s cabinet decision. The first group to benefit from the decision comprises about 120,000 migrants who have lived and worked in Thailand between 1984 and 1999. The second group comprises 215,000 migrants living in the country between 2005 and 2011. The third group comprises about 29,000 children born to ethnic minority parents in Thailand and the fourth group comprises about 113,000 children born to parents who are members of an undocumented minority. Chirayu noted, however, that it could take as long as 44 years to process all those applications for Thai citizenship.

    Egypt update

I am traveling regularly to Egypt for business. I am lucky since I am a fan of middle east men. Wherever you go in Cairo, there are so many men flirting with you, but so difficult to make closer contact. But there is a great place to connect with arab men and get a happy ending! The elevator in 5 star hotels! I have met so many men from Saudi Arabia,Kuwait, Sudan, Oman etc in the elevators The first question is always ¨where are you from¨? Then they touch the crotch, you smile and two minutes later they are making you happy in your room... Great experiences!

BANGKOK — One Bangkok, Thailand’s most ambitious integrated district development project, officially launched on October 25, 2024 marking a significant milestone in the country’s real estate and urban development sector. The mixed-use complex, representing one of the largest private sector property developments in Thailand, aims to establish itself as a crucial business and lifestyle hub in Bangkok’s central business district. The 1.2 billion baht launch event attracted key stakeholders from both public and private sectors, signaling the project’s strategic importance to Thailand’s economic landscape. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/business/2024/10/25/one-bangkok-opens-marking-new-era-in-thai-property-development/

  14. I've thought a lot about this, how the world is moving away from democracy, towards rule by the super rich. Too many countries are run by super rich people now. Sometimes I wonder how the pie will be divided when we have a King running our show. Will there be enough boat slips to park all of their fucking mega yachts? Get ready to roll up your sleeves and pay for that. How will enough people at the top of the pyramid remain satisfied? How will they all deal with each other, competing for what they think should be their share? Will they be able to soak the worker bees for money fast enough to remain satisfied? The corrupt legal system will likely be less and less helpful for a fair resolution to disputes. Who will have the King's ear? Will folks start falling out of windows like they do in Russia? Will the office of tariffs be created for transactional favors? What will the Federalist Society think about the new order? Will they even matter any longer? Will Project 2025 successfully re-define and tear apart how our government has been working? How the New York Times has failed us again, not protecting democracy, not endorsing Harris, harkens back to their podcast about undecided voters, the healthcare worker in Ohio I referred to above, that was worried about our healthcare system and her children's education, so she leans towards Trump, or the CNN piece on voters in Omaha, a couple that leans towards Trump because Trump is willing to tell the truth. Yeah. So that's where we are. The 4th estate which once was respected and powerful, has become something else over the last 30 years. It's sad.

  17. Interviewer speaking to a Latino male voter on his opinion of Trumps MSG rally and the comment about Puerto Rico. Interviewer: "So what do you think about the Puerto Rico comment at the MSG rally" ? Voter: "I think it was bad timing, but it isnt gonna change my vote" Interviewer: "So you werent offended and are still voting for Trump " ? Voter: "Yes, I am not changing my vote. Trump is the only person that will HELP the Latino community". Although the interviewer didnt continue to ask HOW Trump was gonna help Latinos, it represented how deeply Trumps lies and rhetoric have rotted Americans perception of reality, and why there is a strong "probability" of a Trump win.

Last time I went to R3 i lefr absolutley exhausted after a few hours! 27. The Dems are flawed that way, especially the wild-eyed, ranting, liberal gays. 🙃 e.g. Inner city blacks didn't necessarily favor BLM. Of course, fewer and fewer Latino and black voters favor Dems. Today the Dems are hoping the kerfuffle over the Puerto Rico joke at the MSG Trump rally could harvest Dem votes from Puerto Rican voters, especially after the major Puerto Rican entertainment super stars complained about the joke. But really, how many Bad Bunny or Residente fans are even registered to vote? Show me the data Steven. 😉 I have doubts. Back to immigrants, conservatives in the UK Parliament, their version of Marjorie Taylor Green, have blamed murders on immigrants. Sounds familiar, but sounds more like campaign fodder invented by Cambridge Analytica and the like. The alarming murders making the news in LA are committed by mentally unstable homeless people or people on hallucinogens, not immigrants, yet we have a large immigrant population. The thing I liked most about the Will Ferrell song is how the narrative reminds that immigrants are the future, just like the son of immigrants that founded Nvidia.

Key thing to note when using AirBnB in Thailand is lack of TM30 reporting by the property owner. A legal requirement by any House Manager or Property Owner to complete within 24 hours of a guests arrival. Hence why when staying in hotels you're always asked for your Passport during check-in, as the Hotel updates the Immigration Database with your details. Fine to the property owner for failing in their duty is 1600THB. However, if you're caught in a 'misdemeanour' by the Boys in Brown (BiB) or randomly checked, the fine is likely to be on you, rather than your AirBnB host.

  39. Pattaya Koh Larn island trip report - November 2022 This is my trip report to Koh Larn from Pattaya. It is written for those who might want to venture over to this beautiful island for a day trip or to stay a couple of nights like we did. I travelled with 2 of my Thai friends, as it was one of their birthday’s, hence these chosen dates. Why Koh Larn? Because you may want to get away from the hustle & bustle of busy Pattaya to stay at some truly beautiful beaches that have transparent blue turquoise clean water with nice white sand. As we know, most of Pattaya, and lesser so, Jomtien beaches have brownish water, consequently making it sometimes difficult to enjoy a true pleasant beach experience that Thailand is known for. Note, that Koh Larn is NOT at the level of beauty of Koh Samui or Phuket – but for only being 20 to 30 minutes away from Pattaya – it is a nice quick and easy substitute for them. Day ONE - Monday 21 November 2022 We took a Grab taxi from Jomtien over to the Bali Hali Pier in Pattaya. At the pier, there are many offerings for private tours via speed boat (costing thousands of Thai baht) and also transport via speed boat for ฿150 baht per person one way. We opted for the speedboat transportation modality, which takes 20 minutes. Note that if you continue towards the pier you can buy a ฿30 baht one way fare on the ferry boat, which takes 40 to 45 minutes. Note ferry schedule below – there are 2 destinations available – Naban Port which faces Pattaya, and Tawaen Beach which faces west into the Gulf of Thailand. http://kohlarn.com/getting-to-koh-larn.html The speedboat ride was quite enjoyable, as the sea was calm – consequently there were not many bumps. If you find that the sea is rough, then I would suggest that you instead take the ferry. Each of us wore a life vest – including all of the other passengers. After exiting the speedboat onto the floating pier, you will be almost immediately solicited for room rentals, taxis, and motorbike rentals. My 2 Thai friends had already reserved us a place in a 2 unit bungalow that they really liked (from previous trips) because it is isolated and private and still within the Naban village. We walked about 5 to 6 minutes south from the pier (as indicated in the below map) to where my 2 friends were greeted by a friendly Thai lady who acted as the broker for our 2 sleeping accommodations, which included 2 motorbikes (1 per unit). The price was ฿1,500 baht per unit and we always took 2 units – as I like to sleep alone. This is our first night accommodation. Simple – but nice and very private with a rocky beach front – when the tide is up the balcony is on top of the water and when the tide is out the balcony overlooks the rocks. Nice places to sit on each single balcony with 2 chairs each with a small table, nearby tree with tons of shade and an outdoor table if needed. From the below photo, you can see that the rooms are modest but practical. There was good air-conditioning and normal bathroom with hot water for a shower. The best part was the view of the Pattaya city and Jomtien skylines. For some months now, I can see Koh Larn from where I live in Jomtien and now I can look back to where I live. I have to say that it is very impressive – more so from Koh Larn looking towards Pattaya/Jomtien – especially at night when the entire city is illuminated. Note, there was NO breakfast included in the above mentioned price. View of Pattaya City and Jomtien from our Koh Larn room balcony – quite impressive. We unpacked our bags and then headed out to lunch at one of the many roadside cafes on our way to our first beach destination at Hat Nuan beach – which is on the southern tip of Koh Larn. Beach was pleasant and nice, but was not my favorite because when you walk into the water, it quickly gets deep – as there is a drop-off in the sea floor. I prefer a gradual drop off where you can walk out far into the water before it gets deep. At the far end of this beach – towards the rocks – are a group of monkeys. Many tourists were feeding them. I did not attempt to get too close as I saw many Youtube videos where the monkeys will steal something from you (like your mobile phone) and run away. No thanks. After a couple of hours at Hat Nuan beach, we then drove over to Samae Beach, which is on the western side of the island. The center of the island is dense green with large hills – so the ride from west to east and east to west are breathtaking – as the views from high up are stunning. Note the following - The roads on Koh Larn are narrow and there are NO cars – only the occasional baht busses that shuttle passengers back and forth between the different beaches. Each way on the baht bus is ฿30 baht for each single ride. Consequently, since there are NO cars – it makes driving on Koh Larn very pleasant, as it is just motorbikes going about – and they tended to drive slowly without any chaos. This is truly a nice experience after the crazy chaos of motorbikes in Pattaya city. Also, even though I have my official Thai motorbike driving license – I have not yet started to drive a motorbike in Thailand. I believe that driving one on Koh Larn will help me get over my fear to get started. Consequently, during this trip, I was the 2nd passenger on one of our 2 motorbikes. Going up some of the bigger hills puts a strain on the motorbike – so, if you plan to go 2 persons on a single bike – make sure that you get a motorbike strong enough. For sure, 2 falangs on a single motorbike might not make it up some of the steeper hills. In my case, we were always 1 falang and 1 Thai – and as we know, the Thais don’t weigh much. Next stop, was Samae Beach. This beach I really liked. During this trip, we visited 5 beaches in total and Samae was tied for my favorite with another beach that we visited on day 2. Samae, has the type of white beach sand that I really like with the gradual decline in the seabed, that allows you to walk out quite far before having to start swimming. The water is a beautiful transparent turquoise color. After almost arriving to sunset, we drove back to our room to freshen up for our Main Event – the birthday celebration of my Thai friend at the infamous Klom Klom restaurant / bar. The Klom Klom restaurant / bar is truly an eclectic cool hippy type of place and was an excellent choice to celebrate my friend’s birthday. This was one of my most favorite places in Thailand – something that I would expect to find up in PAI, in northern Thailand. A jazz band was playing during our visit. The food and drinks were very good. The only negative is that the food came from another affiliated place that is across the street – which made the wait for our meal somewhat longer than normal. When I thought that the bill would come, instead the waiters and band played and sang happy birthday for my Thai friend – which was a nice surprise. Even the customers joined into sing. A weird jello birthday dish was served with a lit candle in it (?? Thai tradition ??). To find this place – see below map – as it is about half way between Naban village and Tawaen Beach. Anybody who lives on Koh Larn knows about this place as it is super famous. Back home for some more drinks on our balcony to enjoy the illuminated Pattaya skyline. Day TWO – Tuesday 22 November 2022 We had to switch accommodation locations because one of our 2 bungalow rooms was rented out to another party (surprise snafu). So, we moved north of the main Naban village pier to ธนัชชา รีสอร์ท (Thanatcha Resort). Note from the map below, that this place is VERY close to the main ferry pier and if you remember from the above ferry schedule, the first ferry is at 6:30am bound for Pattaya. It starts blasting its horns for departure at 6:20am. So, I would avoid this place if you do not like to wake up early. Also, it is kind of run down and you can see that it has seen better days. It has a large wooden deck that is tastefully illuminated in the evening with an excellent view of the Pattaya city skyline. Breakfast is included. Price was the same as the previous accommodation, ฿1,500 baht per unit and we took 2 units. This place includes breakfast out on the terrace, which included a Thai kind of rice / chicken soup, toast and marmalades, and eggs sunny side up + coffee. Our next destination was to go see the BIG giant Buddha up on Buddha hill. What is impressive about this place is that you have an incredible view of almost all of Koh Larn – especially looking down onto the tourist packed Tawaen beach. Furthermore, this is where the paragliders take off and land – it was truly breathtaking to watch all of them as there was at least a dozen of them up in the air above us. Have any of you tried this paragliding thing? https://www.flykohlarn.com Driving down into Tawaen Beach, the scene was overwhelming, as the beach was teeming with tourists mainly from India – it was loud and super crowded. I told the guys to continue onwards, and we found a great place to have lunch just before the next beach over, where Tong Lang Beach starts. It was much more quiet and tranquil. I believe that Tawaen Beach is extremely crowded because the main ferry from Pattaya also stops here. Here is a photo of the tranquil and beautiful Tong Lang Beach, where we relaxed for a couple of hours. It was nice and pleasant – but was still not yet my most favorite beach spot. Our next stop was Tiennara (Tien Beach). As I mentioned from day one this was also my most favorite beach. But now after writing this report and reliving the fond memories, this beach is my number one favorite from this Koh Larn trip. Why? It is a very BIG (long) beach with many variations within the beach, such as lush green canopy overgrowth where there were many places to stay shaded, eat, relax, etc. There are even secluded places to lodge and stay overnight here --> I definitely need to return to sleep in one of them. Have any of you slept in any rooms that are directly at Tien Beach? If so, please share with us the relevant contact information. To arrive at this paradise, you first park your motorbikes and then walk on this elevated concrete pathway until you arrive onto Tiennara (Tien Beach). It feels different than the other beaches as you feel more isolated and more immersed into the nature with the white powdery beach sand. Note that walking north (opposite way from which you entered) you will eventually find some red chair lounges. This is where we stayed, and the older owner/manager is most likely gay and one of his sexy younger workers appears to also be gay. He was quite flirty – another reason to return to this beach. On our way into this beach over the elevated concrete walkway, my 2 Thai friends acknowledged a group of fellow gay Thai individuals who were heading back – as they only came for the day. So, perhaps this is the beach more frequented by us gays ? The sun was starting to set and it was time to drive back to our accommodation to freshen up and to head out to our last dinner on Koh Larn. The chosen Thai restaurant is, ยกยอ-เกาะล้าน (Lifted Yo - Koh Larn) https://yokyor-kohlarn.business.site/ which is located on the main road going south from the Naban village that follows the sea shoreline (see below map). It is a somtum type of Thai restaurant and the food was great. It received a 4.3 rating out of 5 maximum in Google. After dinner, we made a quick stop at 7-Eleven (even on Koh Larn they seem to be almost everywhere) to grab some beers to enjoy our last view of our hotel sea deck illuminated Pattaya / Jomtien city skyline. We had breakfast in the following morning at our 2nd day hotel and then off to return our motorbikes and join the crowd looking for speedboats back to Pattaya. Again, ฿150 baht per person one way. In about 22 minutes we were already back at the Bali Hali pier in Pattaya. We called a BOLT taxi to take us back to Jomtien. Would I go back to Koh Larn? MOST definitely – I was truly enchanted with this place and I see that it will take several trips to discover all of the nooks and crannies on this wonderful island – truly an oasis in nature to get away from the craziness of Pattaya city. What would I change? 1.) To have better control over the accommodations that were chosen – there are tons of them and some are truly amazing. 2.) To get over my anxiety to drive a motorbike in Thailand – as Koh Larn is definitely a tranquil place to overcome this fear. In closing, I hope that you enjoyed my long trip report. I hope by sharing all of this information with all of you that it will encourage some of you to take advantage of this unique place in Pattaya.

  40. This is an update to this 2022 trip report to Koh Larn from the Pattaya Bali Hai pier - because the Pattaya City (mayor) decided to implement a new speedboat departure system, which I experienced today, 26 Oct 2024. https://www.pattayamail.com/news/pattaya-mayor-vows-to-end-aggressive-practices-at-bali-hai-pier-472979 Prior to now, you went to individual speedboat vendor booths to buy your ticket to Koh Larn - to the left of the pier (when facing the sea harbor) as shown in the below photo: Contrary to what was reported by the Pattaya mayor, I NEVER found this system to be aggressive. I knew which speedboat company I preferred and I walked up to that individual ticket booth and bought my ticket from my favorite ladyboy ticket seller at the AM booth. Simple and easy. One of their guides would walk us onto the Bali Hai pier where their designated speedboat was departing from. Now the Pattaya City had this not so great idea to terminate all of these individual speedboat ticket booths to just 2 ticket booths that are situated at the beginning of the Bali Hai pier - see below photo that I took today: What the city has done is to divide Koh Larn into 2 sectors - Tawaen beach (side opposite of Pattaya city) and Na Baan (side facing Pattaya city). In the past, I always bought my ticket from the AM speedboat ticket booth for the Tawaen destination and I paid 150 baht each way or 300 baht if I wanted to return from Tawaen - often I returned from Na Baan - as the return times back to Pattaya city are more flexible. Well, this morning I got in the queue and I asked for a ticket to Tawaen and I was told that due to the choppy sea that they can only bring me to Nual Beach (aka Monkey Beach) for 500 baht. I don't like Nual Beach as it is not nice in my opinion. I asked why is it so expensive and the girl at the ticket booth told me that it is always 500 baht. I told her that I live in Pattaya now since 2 years and I have NEVER paid 500 baht to go to the non-Pattaya city facing side of the island. She replied to me, well my father is the boat captain - do you want to speak to him. I said NO - and I then asked her what are my other options to get onto Koh Larn? By now I was angry, as the Pattaya City has made a mess by demanding the demolition of the former decentralized ticketing system to this now centralized ticketing system. The girl told me that i can take the normal slow ferry to Na Baan OR she pointed to another ticket booth where they were selling speedboat tickets to Na Baan - the main village on Koh Larn. So, I bought a 150 baht speedboat ticket for Na Baan and we were then led by our assigned guide onto the Bali Hai pier floating launch that was super packed as there were other tour groups already on the floating pier - total chaos, confusion, and people being jostled by the up and down of the waves. When the system was decentralized, the individual boat company took care to obtain their own unique launch pier to avoid the chaos that comes when you put too many groups onto the same floating launch pier - a consequence of this badly implemented centralized system. In my opinion, it is just a mater of time before a tourist is hurt by this chaos and then to protect the sacred image of pristine Pattaya - they will order the centralized ticketing system to be demolished and we go back to the safer decentralized individual boat companies that saw to take care of you the customer. When I arrived into the main Na Baan village, I rented a motorbike so that I could cross over the island onto my favorite side. My first stop was for my favorite banana creme cake with an iced cappuccino at the wonderful Cher Aim Cafe & Resort situated on Tawaen beach. I will admit, the ride over on the speedboat was very choppy and 90% of the passengers were Asians and some of them opened their umbrellas inside the speedboat to try to avoid some of the splashes that were entering into the boat from the waves. All was good - as I am almost always impressed how the Thai boat drivers magically navigate their boats in any kind of weather. Then after by banana creme cake (don't tell my gym trainer - I can already hear her yelling - I cannot control what you put into your mouth - if she only knew - hahahha) I then drove the motorbike over the most difficult but exhilarating hill on Koh Larn down into my MOST favorite beach = Tien beach. Life is good on Tien Beach --> note that back in Pattaya there has been trash found on the local city beaches due to all of the recent storms - but over here on Koh Larn - no trash - just beautiful clean transparent turquoise water with fluffy white powder sand. The ride back to Pattaya City from Na Baan was uneventful because by now the morning choppiness had disappeared and the 8 km of sea between Koh Larn and Pattaya City was tranquil = all was good.

    Kissing

I couldn't agree more. These days I'm actually not into kissing as I also consider it to be a very intimate gesture reserved for those with whom I share a mutual affection. Neither of my regulars kiss, but that doesn't bother me as they are both straight and such affection doesn't exist between us. The only time I feel the desire to kiss is when I'm being topped in the missionary position. I get that satisfaction from the guys who take care of me here. At a certain time in the fucking process when things are starting to to really heat up it sort of just happens naturally - all by itself. In my younger days kissing was usually part of the fun, as the guys I was having sex with were considered as possible lovers; the sex was always intimate. Having to pay for sex with someone much younger means such intimate relationshios are no longer available to me.

    The scene in China

So, I ignored that part of the comment somewhat deliberately. Nowadays, any kind of large-scale sex venue in China is pretty much dead, be it gay or straight. The problem is mostly that the cities with sex venues are too small to have somewhat of a gay tolerance to have a gay sex scene, but the cities with enough gay tolerance are too big for the scene to develop without being raided. Your best bet would be medium-sized cities like Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou, Changsha etc because they're big enough to have a gay scene but not big enough for the local government to really give a shit about policing everything. In larger cities such as Beijing or Shanghai I wouldn't bother outside the mainstream legit gay clubs that already exist, but those aren't necessarily MB places That's not to say that the scene is non-existent, it definitely isn't! It's just that it's mostly temporary hidden backdoor venues, they're small, non-professional and almost always closes after a few months. That's why I said in that post that your best bet is a local gay friend (a local horny gay friend, preferably haha), they'll probably be more attuned to the ever-changing local scene. Lacking that, twitter is really not that bad of an alternative either, there's pages that updates about the local scenes in cities, SPA pages and such, even if the places suck you can use those to connect to other people and get a better insight into the local scene. But do keep in mind that most of these places aren't really where MB would hang out, being a MB can send them to administrative detention, and there's no reason for them to risk themselves being arrested if they can simply advertise from the comfort and safety of their own home. Now, these are mostly medium to long term options, they aren't really helpful tips if you're just going on vacation and want something to just pop-in. For that I recommend Blued, it's the go-to gay app in China, but be aware that there's a chinese version that isn't the same as the international one! And I've never heard of stories such as yours! I think you might've just been insanely unlucky, I never had such a bad experience neither know someone who does. They know that what they're doing is illegal and can get them arrested, it sounds stupid to me for them to cause a ruckus like this. If you stick to the more "professional" ones I think you'll be fine, they don't wanna risk being reported and losing their livelihood for a few bucks. But they don't come cheap! The sweet spot imo is around 2000-3000rmb, it's where you'll find quite amazing boys without overpaying much, but some charge as much as 7000+. I'll write a post about chinese slang and "codenames" to identify a MB and how to book one, but that might take a while to gather the willpower haha

    Saunas please

Old daddy, Babylon wasn't good....it was undeniably great. The hours that I spent there and I didn't even need to go to the bars. But that was many years ago. I went to Krubb sauna in Phra Khanong at the weekend. It's an easy walk from the BTS, but if you don't use Google maps, it might be a bit of a mission to find it. It's about 5 stories high so lots of steps to negotiate. After 8pm, the dark room was a seething mass of bodies. All sorts of ethnicities, ages and body types. The only thing that bothered me was the spa pool or onsen as it's called. After I had got in I noticed a lot of black specks floating around as well as a small feather and what looked like a pill. It needed a good clean. I should have pointed it out to the staff.

  45. I post this purely for information. I had never heard of the website Gayifiers until I was checking the web for some more detail about gay massage in Taipei. It's a London based site and i have no idea where it gets its information. It seems to be new given that several pages have "Coming Soon" against the content. But the information on Taipei massage was good and it includes a few reviews. Bangkok massage information has 5 listed including two I have not heard of before - Taywa Massage and Spa which seems to be staffed mostly by university students, and a second which is no doubt known to some readers, 9-Teen Massage on Silom Soi 8. The massage section also has information about Singapore, Osaka and Kaohsiung. The site also has more detailed information about Bangkok and Taipei with Hong Kong, Hanoi, Tokyo and Osaka "coming soon". It also provides more general sections on enjoying the Taipei Gay Pride Parade and Songkran. In the Songkran section the only hotels it lists are pricey, but elsewhere there is a list of four top gay budget hotels - Trinity Silom, FuramaXclusive, Siri Sathorn and the Ibis on Sukhumvit Soi 4. Interesting additional features are "12 Hottest Porn Stars in Asia" and "12 Hottest Porn Stars Around the World". https://www.gayifiers.com

  46. I visited Soi 13 on Saturday 18:30, June 10. Someone wrote here that it's the best sauna in Asia. I'd say maybe it's the best sauna in the world (Brazilian garoto saunas excluded)! Two non sexual things striked me in the first few minutes. One, everything including the floor is so squeaky clean, everyone is barefooted (maybe footware is prohibited). Two, there are unlimited free light drinks. Lots of young eye candies; didn't notice any attitude. Although, as usual, many walking around stone-faced zombie-like, there's also talk to be seen and heard. I guess it's mostly because friends come together, but - for example - an old local striked up a not-hitting-on-u conversation with me in English at the hot water pool (it's not really a jaccuzi). Better atmosphere. The best feature was the dark room, darkest and most interactive I've ever been to. Can't see a thing, no matter how long I stayed there. At some point I was taken care of by 2 guys. Only after I tried to decipher with my hands who was doing what, I found out that I'm actually part of a fivesome... The dark 'room' is actually a corridor, with 5-6 very small wooden cubicles opening on it's right side. For some reason, two guys making out prefer to do it in the corridor, so most cubicles r empty. By 19:15 there was a jam, everyone stuck together with intense action. Only when I finally got to the end of the corridor for the third time (still erect), I found out that the last cubicle had no back side. It opened into a parallel corridor, which was just as dark and almost empty. I guess most patrons aren't aware of its existence. It's much more conducive to 'normal' dark action. I enjoyed myself immensly. Never had so many anonymous guys take care of me.

  47. Since Aniki died 2 years ago, most of the discussion on saunas in Taipei has revolved around the relatively new Soi 13in. It certainly remains THE sauna for meeting mostly young Taiwanese and other Asians, especially at the week-ends when it always seems packed with way over 100 cute guys. But another sauna is undergoing something of a rebirth! For at least 2 decades, Hans Mens Sauna near the Red House gay complex of bars and cafes has continued to attract mostly older Taiwanese with occasional university students after classes and on a Saturday. The last time I went pre-covid it was pretty run down and sleazy, its one main attractive feature being a hot pool where you could sit and watch guys taking their showers, those having emerged from the very dark steam room often sporting sizeable erections. Four months ago it moved two blocks further up XiNing South Road into totally new premises. It now occupies the entire 8th floor of Wan Nian Building. It has obviously been designed from scratch and is spotlessly clean. It obviously hopes for a large number of patrons as I counted more than 300 lockers. I went twice, the more active being late on Saturday afternoon. Since it is so spread out, I could not accurately estimate the number of patrons but I reckon at least 70. Most seemed to make a beeline for the two steam rooms, at least to start their visits, and these were pretty active. The facilities also include a sauna, TV room with reclining loungers for relaxing and watching one of the regular TV movies, a corner with a long couch showing porn, a karaoke lounge, a decent number of private rooms (but not nearly enough if it ever gets packed) and about 4 totally dark spaces with mattresses. It also has an open-air balcony which I did not venture on to. I rarely if ever have met anyone I knew at a Taipei sauna. This time I was attracted to a young guy who came in and seemed to smile at me. After he had changed into his towel, he came up to me and said, "Obviously, you do not remember me!" I hate it when someone says that, but fortunately he went on, "It was at the hot spring about 4 years ago when I was 18. I only spoke a little English then but we chatted a little." Then the icing on the cake, "Really nice to see you here!" Needless to say, after he had showered and we had met up in a steam room, we chatted a bit and then proceeded to a dark room where we had a really great time. Afterwards we exchanged Line IDs and will keep in touch. The one thing the new Hans lacks is ambience, but then few attending will be looking for that. The walls are mostly industrial concrete and the floors linoleum. But overall I thought the clientele had moved down an age bracket or two. Clearly some guys were in their 20s but I reckoned most were between late 20s and mid-50s - except for me, that is!! To get to the sauna, probably the best way is to go through the Red House from near the subway exit to Sol Bar at the very end on XiNing South Rd. Exiting Sol, turn right, cross over the traffic intersection and walk up about 80 meters to the next intersection which is from the pedestrian area. Across the street you will see a large building in green. This is the Wan Nian Building. Find the entrance on XiNing South Road and walk through the small stores (a bit like Terminal 21 in Bangkok although these are mostly watch shops). There is no sign in English for the 8th floor, only one with two Chinese characters on a blue background. The lifts will be on your left. Entrance is now NT$400 (US$13), NT$50 more than at the old premises. I noticed there is a hotel on the 6th floor. No idea what it is like but I imagine pretty inexpensive. On a more general note, as far as the apps are concerned, I gave up on Blued a couple of years ago and was a bit surprised that some of my Taiwan friends had also ditched the app. Grindr was arguably the most active for young guys seeking older westerners, but Hornet and Jack'd were not far behind. I did venture out one evening to the gayish Hot Spring, Huang Tzu. Not as many guys as normally the case, but then it was very hot in Taipei last week and a hot spring is better suited to cooler if not colder weather. Still, there must have been 60 - 70 guys there with some as usual being agressively handsome.
