I figured I would share my experience and visiting club 117 and Point202. At point202 The lowest price I was quoted for fun was 100 BRL for sucking plus milk and 150 for penetration plus milk. Thailand has already included a departure tax into the price of international airline tickets for about 20 years, so they should not have any problem with collecting this new revenue stream from the airlines. I knew which speedboat company I preferred and I walked up to that individual ticket booth and bought my ticket from my favorite ladyboy ticket seller at the AM booth. Simple and easy. One of their guides would walk us onto the Bali Hai pier where their designated speedboat was departing from. Now the Pattaya City had this not so great idea to terminate all of these individual speedboat ticket booths to just 2 ticket booths that are situated at the beginning of the Bali Hai pier - see below photo that I took today: What the city has done is to divide Koh Larn into 2 sectors - Tawaen beach (side opposite of Pattaya city) and Na Baan (side facing Pattaya city). In the past, I always bought my ticket from the AM speedboat ticket booth for the Tawaen destination and I paid 150 baht each way or 300 baht if I wanted to return from Tawaen - often I returned from Na Baan - as the return times back to Pattaya city are more flexible. Well, this morning I got in the queue and I asked for a ticket to Tawaen and I was told that due to the choppy sea that they can only bring me to Nual Beach (aka Monkey Beach) for 500 baht. I don't like Nual Beach as it is not nice in my opinion. I asked why is it so expensive and the girl at the ticket booth told me that it is always 500 baht. I told her that I live in Pattaya now since 2 years and I have NEVER paid 500 baht to go to the non-Pattaya city facing side of the island. She replied to me, well my father is the boat captain - do you want to speak to him. I said NO - and I then asked her what are my other options to get onto Koh Larn? By now I was angry, as the Pattaya City has made a mess by demanding the demolition of the former decentralized ticketing system to this now centralized ticketing system. The girl told me that i can take the normal slow ferry to Na Baan OR she pointed to another ticket booth where they were selling speedboat tickets to Na Baan - the main village on Koh Larn. So, I bought a 150 baht speedboat ticket for Na Baan and we were then led by our assigned guide onto the Bali Hai pier floating launch that was super packed as there were other tour groups already on the floating pier - total chaos, confusion, and people being jostled by the up and down of the waves. When the system was decentralized, the individual boat company took care to obtain their own unique launch pier to avoid the chaos that comes when you put too many groups onto the same floating launch pier - a consequence of this badly implemented centralized system. In my opinion, it is just a mater of time before a tourist is hurt by this chaos and then to protect the sacred image of pristine Pattaya - they will order the centralized ticketing system to be demolished and we go back to the safer decentralized individual boat companies that saw to take care of you the customer. When I arrived into the main Na Baan village, I rented a motorbike so that I could cross over the island onto my favorite side. My first stop was for my favorite banana creme cake with an iced cappuccino at the wonderful Cher Aim Cafe & Resort situated on Tawaen beach. I will admit, the ride over on the speedboat was very choppy and 90% of the passengers were Asians and some of them opened their umbrellas inside the speedboat to try to avoid some of the splashes that were entering into the boat from the waves. All was good - as I am almost always impressed how the Thai boat drivers magically navigate their boats in any kind of weather. Then after by banana creme cake (don't tell my gym trainer - I can already hear her yelling - I cannot control what you put into your mouth - if she only knew - hahahha) I then drove the motorbike over the most difficult but exhilarating hill on Koh Larn down into my MOST favorite beach = Tien beach. Life is good on Tien Beach --> note that back in Pattaya there has been trash found on the local city beaches due to all of the recent storms - but over here on Koh Larn - no trash - just beautiful clean transparent turquoise water with fluffy white powder sand. The ride back to Pattaya City from Na Baan was uneventful because by now the morning choppiness had disappeared and the 8 km of sea between Koh Larn and Pattaya City was tranquil = all was good.

I prefer to pay cash for certain things. I have paid massage shops with credit card, but the tip has been in cash and I prefer that. At home, I will pay the restaurant bill with a card, but the tip for the server is usually in cash. I can be sure that they are getting the money, and they do not have to go through their boss. First of all, thanks to everyone on this forum. I've been reading it for years - could it be 15? - or definitely before my first ever trip to Brazil, which was three lifetimes ago. I almost registered when all non-members were kicked out a couple of years back, but then the gods above were merciful to allow us back for a part of it, and my laziness prevailed. Did I say again I'm sorry? - I am. It's been a hell of a time to see Brazil (and other parts of the world) changing, the same way I was changing too: I came to Rio for the first time 14-15 years ago, totally hated it (the real to USD at 1.6 at that time didn't help), then came back a couple of years later, then there was one whole winter I spent in Brazil traveling to every corner of it (locally, it was summer of course) - and the rest is history. I traveled especially often in the past 4 years throughout the pandemic - it was pretty much one of the only two countries always open (along with Mexico - but I prefer Brazil), and then there were incredibly cheap tickets, initially in 2020-2021 basically free, then just very cheap (that loophole has recently closed, but stayed open for the incredible three years). I was traveling around the world throughout the pandemic pretty much as I usually do, so it passed me by (and by some kinky luck, covid passed me too - never had it) - and I think I was back in Brazil as early as Sep 2020 I think, and then visited about twice a year. So that historic context aside (and again - thanks to everyone) - several observations on this trip. It isn't meaningful to compare 2024 figures with 2023 when china only reopened to travel in 2023. A better comparison would be against the last full pre-covid year, which is 2019. In the same way, Thailand speaks of the 39million visitors it received in 2019 as the measure of recovery from the pandemic. As I pointed out, if we annualise the 17 million till July 2024, we may see 34 million visitors to china in the full 2024. It is below the pre-covid figure. Perhaps I should have said "shrunk market" rather than "shrinking market" because only time will tell what 2025 brings. Will it grow or shrink further? My understanding too. In any case I have been told by a Shanghai tour guide that the majority of Chinese tourists headed to Europe are in packaged group tours. They are price sensitive and would more likely use Chinese airlines rather than European airlines (also Chinese-speaking cabin crew and Chinese meals on board). So even if outbound Chinese tourism (to Europe) grows strongly in the next couple of years - not likely given the economic doldrums in china - it won't be the European airlines benefitting.

I think the debate so far is missing the main point, albeit that the thread is about Euorpean airlines cutting back on flights to China. This statistic is key, especially if we see it from China's perspective. It is likely that 2024 will end with about 34 million foreign visitors, only 70% of the 49 million the country received in 2019. Lots of small businesses in China catering to foreign visitors must be suffering. Tourism in China is of three broad types: The very biggest, by far is domestic tourism. You go to any attraction and chances are that domestic tourists will outnumber foreigners by a few multiples. This sector currently has its own problems but it is outside the scope of our discussion, The second biggest group, I believe, would be the cross-border "tourists" from countries that adjoin China, such as Vietnam, Myanmar, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Russia. They come in for a day and rarely go beyond the border town. Many are traders. For the purposes of this discussion (about flights), they're irrelevant. The third group are those who fly in, or maybe cross from HongKong and then travel around other cities. When we are discussing flights from Europe, we're really talking about a segment of a segment. Europeans are a portion of the third group. All the rest (from other Asian countries or America) are irrelevant to this discussion about flights from Europe. Wikipedia has stats from 2019, giving you a sense of the breakdown by country of origin. Guess I'll add on to to this since I am one of the ones who regularly gets these "bottle service"... I tend to travel to Bangkok with a bunch of other friends from other countries. So there are multiple of us. It's actually more cost effective for us to get a bottle rather than for each of us to get our own drink. Of course, each club has their own policy. For example, each person would have to pay 550/600 Baht per entry at Dreamboys. That would amount to about 2400baht for 4 people. But then the boy drinks are free. (Not entirely sure if that's their policy or if it's because I'm a regular there). The bottle can last us quite awhile rather than nursing that 1 drink for the whole time we're there and especially if we are getting a 2nd drink, then getting the bottle would 100% be more cost efficient. Most bars will offer either free mixers or free limited amount of mixers (e.g. 5 cans per bottle opened). Most bars, the boy drinks will be free if you opened a bottle. But each bar has their own rules. Moonlight is very strict about having to buy their boys drinks even if you have your own bottle. (My friend was charged a boy drink even though they took the boy as the bar was closing and no drink was given) If you don't finish your alcohol, you tell the bar to keep the alcohol for you. You'll be given a card in exchange for the bottle. Just return next time with the card for them to retrieve your bottle. Do note that there is a duration that they would keep your bottle for. Once it goes over the "expiry date" the staff then sometimes help themselves to the "free" alcohol. Upon return, most clubs charge a 500 per person fee. If 3 of you show up, you'll be charged 1500 unless you choose to open a new bottle on the day itself on top of the one that you have. For some clubs, you have to tell them you will open a new bottle beforehand or else you'll get charged the 1500 plus the cost of the new bottle. But if you had told them upfront that you are opening a new bottle, you would only pay the cost of the new bottle. This happened to us in Freshboys. Regarding tips, you give what you like. It's not much different from when you bought them a drink. We tend to play games with our alcohol. Boys join in, tips are given every now and then. For boys who you are closer with, some may not expect tips, they may just want to drink with you. Of course nobody is going to say no to money should you offer them some. If a boy who you called to sit with you, drank with you the whole night, and you aren't taking him back to the hotel, I would say minimally 500 Baht as they gave away their opportunity of a customer to drink with you. Chinese firms are increasingly selling software that allows for more heavy handed surveillance of their populations to other countries in the region. While the Thai state don’t want or need this level of surveillance, this can change. Best to have the option to pay using paper, and retain privacy.

Thanks guys, now I am clear of the hotel in question. I have stayed there three times including a couple of weeks last month in September. I would describe it as a gay-friendly hotel, rather than a gay hotel. I have seen a variety of fellow customers there. I have had various rooms across the hotel, and never once have I been troubled by noise from the Complex bars. It sits along the 'quiet' arm of the complex. Its closest bar is M Bar just outside to the right. M Bar is very popular at the moment with nightly shows at 10pm and midnight, and stays open until 1 am or even 2 am if customers like me are still spending coin. As to 'fun' within the hotel itself I have never seen any sign of that, although to be fair I have never looked for it.
