In August, we took a Bolt from Pattaya to Suvanabhumi there were no safety belts in the back and the front safety belt didn't work, the car was so old that it had a cassette deck, and as usual the driver had to get gas on the way and do all kinds of U-Turns Also in August, we took a meter taxi from Suvanabhumi to Pattaya and the driver was not willing to take less than 1800 plus wanted us to pay tolls, when we tried to negotiate we were surrounded by a gang of other taxi drivers and BF was told "that's the price, take it or leave it" by the mob Next trip we will definitely be pre-booking through TheLimoPattaya or similar companies5 points

TRIP REPORT DAY 1 Finally... Today in arrived in Bangkok. It was the first time my flight was at a gate at the remote airport terminal. So I had to take the train to the main terminal. As we all know: quite some walking required at BKK to finally get to passport control. I didn't bother to look for a priority lane for business class passengers as many desks in the "normal" area were open with just two or three people in front of each desk. So entering the kingdom went very smoothly. No landing card anymore to fill in. Just give them your passport and boarding card. While waiting for my baggage I took enough bahts from the atm to cover a few days and bought a Thai simcard. I went to the public taxi bays. No cues. And before I knew it I was in the taxi on my way to Silom. I arrived at my hotel around 2pm. Room in Ibis Styles Silom was already available. Check in could be a bit more time efficient in this hotel. I was tired after my long flights. So I decided to have a nap after I first stocked up in the 7eleven around the corner. Couldn't resist to open Grindr. My non-representative research conslusion: many freelancers on Grindr ask 3000baht for st but almost all of them are willing to come visit you in your hotel room for 2000. Not much negotiation skills needed for them to drop the price. FRESHBOYS After a good sleep it was time to go out for my first night in Bangkok since more than a year. Excited to see what has changed and what has stayed the same. After a quick Thai bite at Pride in soi4 I walked to Patpong soi 2. Last times I was in Bangkok I had good experiences in Freshboys (my taste of boys plus nice show, the ladyboy they had was good and even had a fire act) so I decided that was going to be my first stop of the night. Convenient sign outside with showtimes. I watched the first show full, and part of the second show. The timings were correct, but the kind of acts the perform is not completely as how they advertise it on the board outside. The ladyboy performing tonight was not the same as before, was oké but not so good. Rest of show was what you expect as a veteran and can be a bit boring when you've seen all many times before. Around 25 boys on rotation. Bare chested, only wearing white sportshorts. Mix between skinnier twins to guys with abs and light muscled bodies. The last categorie is the kind of guys I like. Unfortunately most of this type of boys in the bars are top, while I'm looking for bottoms. A not (very) pushy papasan helped me out by writing down numbers of many of the bottoms or "can do all"-types. Unfortunately the 3 favorites I had were not on his list. More thorough research concluded in that one of my favorites actually would be able to bottom. Happy me. But I was not ready for my pick of the day yet. It was still too early and had other places to check. So I politely promised I will be back another night and took the paper with all the numbers papasan wrote down with me. Convenient to take with me next time I go to freshboys. Hopefully same boys keep same number though. THE ONE / TAWAN It was around 23h24 when I arrived at The One. I remembered they always had a midnight show so I planned to go there to check it out. But... I didn't even get inside as the friendly guys outside told me show was already over. Only at 22h45 the have a show apparently now. Maybe this is different in weekends, as it is Monday now with less customers. Have to get back to The One on an earlier evening. HOTMALE Back to Patpong soi 2 I went. Decided to check out Hotmale. They had some upgrades. New logo that is on some of the outside signs and even on the glassware inside. Also inside some small changes, mainly new led-lightning on the wall. The just-after-midnight-show was about to start according to the papasan. I double checked as I could only see 2 other customers inside. But the secured me the show was going to start anyway. The 22h30 show is more busy normally according to staff. Around 15 boys on rotation. Red long (!?) sporttrousers and while most of the boys where bare chested, some did wear a hotmale shirt. I directly spotted a familiar face between them. One of my offs the last time I was in Bangkok. He was smiling naughty at me. I instantly knew: this boy is coming home with me tonight. Nice 6 pack, cute smile. And I remember some good advise from this forum : always go for boys that make eye contact with you so they are "interested" and more likely to "give better quality of service". During the show no new customers arrived. So the boys ended up doing it for only me and 2 other customers. Felt a bit embarrassing actually. My boy was in the show. He was doing a dance act and is part of the big cock parade. So I made sure I "reserved" him to come sit with me after the show. During the show more naughty looks to eachother were exchanged. Apparently it was bit clear to all other boys that I already made my decision as two others kept fighting desperate for my attention (and money). Talking about money: price for entrance plus drink in Hot ale went up to 500baht. Off-fee (500) and tip for boy (2000 for st) still the same. A good first night in Bangkok!3 points

I would agree with your assessment @Olddaddy, - IF you are in vacation mode with limited time, then Bangkok has much more to offer. Pattaya is more laid back in slow mode. The days are long until the night life wakes up. During the day in Pattaya you can: go to the Sanuk sauna https://sansukthailand.com/ go to the Dongtan gay beach and relax, converse with the other gay visitors, get a massage, eat, drink, or get a massage or pedicure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JoP3wf-Mio This Thai guy presents on his Youtube channel a LGBT tour - at video timestamp = 2:35 he gets to Dongtan beach go into the Jomtien Supertown Complex and visit some of the many massage shops https://jomtiencomplex.com/jomtien-complex-gay-massage/ go shopping in Pattaya city center at Central Festival and/or Terminal 21 start early in the morning and venture over to Koh Larn island and swim, relax, tan on one of their lovely beaches with clean transparent turquoise blue water3 points -
From Barron's / AFP Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet kept a low profile at the ASEAN summit in Vientiane, holding meetings on the sidelines with fellow leaders but making no public statements to the media. An ex-military man, he marched straight past waiting reporters as he arrived for summit sessions, his most animated moment a jovial conversation with Singapore's foreign minister. More than a year after inheriting power from his father Hun Sen, he has yet to hold an open news conference to explain how he will navigate challenges including balancing China and the West. In contrast, Hun Sen regularly opines on government policy to his millions of social media followers. Analysts say the father remains the power behind the throne in the Southeast Asian nation. Officially, Hun Sen stepped down last year after nearly four decades of iron-fisted rule, passing the baton to his eldest son following a landslide win in national polls held without any significant opposition parties. In February, Hun Sen took over as president of the senate, the country's second-highest ceremonial role after King Norodom Sihamoni, and has since hosted every foreign dignitary visiting the country -- just as he did when prime minister. A few months later, he openly stated his enduring authority. "I have not finished my political life," he told an audience of government officials and foreign dignitaries. "I am the father of the prime minister." Continues at https://www.barrons.com/news/the-son-almost-rises-cambodia-s-hun-sen-the-power-behind-throne-b8bc2b5d ============= From MSN Anti-Vietnam Sentiment Is Raising the Heat on Cambodia's Huns Cambodia is packing it in on a 25-year-old regional agreement with neighboring Laos and Vietnam. In a surprise move, Prime Minister Hun Manet and his father, former Prime Minister Hun Sen-who stepped down a year ago but remains the head of the all-powerful Cambodian People's Party-announced the country's withdrawal from the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area, or CLV, in late September. The announcement came after a protest movement and subsequent crackdown fueled by fears of Vietnamese encroachment, raising questions about Cambodia's future role in regional affairs. The CLV has long roots. It was first broached in 1999 at an unofficial meeting between the then-leaders of the three countries-including Hun Sen himself-as a way to strengthen stability and trilateral interconnectivity, while also acknowledging that many of the countries' provincial communities have long had transborder cultural, social and business ties. When it was officially launched in 2004, the agreement covered 10 border provinces-four in Vietnam and three each in Laos and Cambodia-with an additional province in each country added in 2009. For nearly two decades, investments and development through the CLV gathered pace without incident. Then, earlier this year, an online movement of Cambodians began objecting en masse to the agreement, citing border security and sovereignty as their key sources of concern. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-12844067/Leading-biologist-explains-sense-looking-turned.html Have you ever felt you were being watched? Almost everybody has. It's a scientific phenomenon that is universal. More than 80 per cent of women, and nearly three-quarters of men, questioned in Britain, the U. S. and Scandinavia, say they have experienced it — turning around to find someone staring at them, or looking at someone from behind who turned and looked back. Numerous studies have proved that the sensation can be reproduced under rigorous laboratory conditions. Those who watch people for a living, such as private detectives and celebrity photographers, have no doubt it's real. Professionals who use long-range lenses, including paparazzi and snipers, know the moment when the target senses their gaze and looks straight at them.2 points

Famished is not good either. Distracting. What I do is to go to a nearby 7-11 and get an ice-cream. The sugar keeps hunger at bay for a couple of hours. The ice-cream melts into liquid inside you, unlike a bun which has bulk and takes a while to digest. I think @vinapu once mentioned he did the same ice-cream trick.2 points -

Can't talk about the distribution of hair on the maps, but i have noticed anecdotally: Khmer guys often have hairy chests and calves, but have completely (naturally) smooth thighs, ass and balls Laos guys often have completely smooth bodies and legs, and the it all disappoints when you take off their pants and discover a jungle back and front that even a weed whacker would fail to cut through!2 points -

The thing about shows is that the participants have to have talent for dancing, acting, comedic timing and general musicality. Moonlight models are pretty useless in these respects. They know how to pace and pose... and that's about it. I won't have any expectations except to be faced with higher prices.2 points -

I'm always amused how easily people are taken in by these online rankings of penis sizes. They're virtually all rubbish. There are serious methodological weaknesses, based on self reports, by self selecting volunteers. No standardized way of measuring. Huge selection bias, huge pride bias. The few (very few) scientific reviews of more controlled studies (still imperfect but better than self reports by self selected volunteers) arrive at an average erect penile length of about 13 to 14 cm, or 5.5 inches. A true 6-incher is already above average, not the normal guy. As for differences by nationality, the best correlation is with average male height in the country. It stands to reason. Taller men need larger shoe sizes; they have longer thumbs, generally speaking. So a country with the tallest men such as Netherlands will probably have the longest and thickest dicks. Countries with shortest men e.g. central American countries, will probably have the smallest. But in any case, unless you're a resolute bottom, how does dick size matter? There's a lot more to erotic fulfillment than length or girth.2 points -
By using apps you don't have to communicate with driver at all: start point, end point, price - everything is fixed by app. All you have - to find correct car with number on car plate on the place of start point what is shown to you by app and sit into. Ok, also to say "hello" and to fasten your seatbelt. And you are sure: you got fair price, no scam, no cheating.2 points

As I've said numerous times, here and elsewhere, I walk out of BKK with a song in my heart , where thirty or so taxis await me, and only on one occasion in the last ten trips- the first one after Covid- have I found a queue. No emails. No phone calls. No anxious waits to see if the driver is stuck in traffic. I know others disagree but after eighty trips (or more) from DMK and BKK, I just can't see the point of altering my routine.2 points

This is one of the many reasons that I HATE Grindr. They try to play GOD too much and consequently hurt our desperate guys who are trying to make a living. Then for us on the consumer side - we can't find the guys we want because they are not on Grindr for a myriad of reasons. Grindr is like a broken kaleidoscope that prevents us from seeing the many many guys who are actually willing and available. Just compare the number of profiles visible in Pattaya of Grindr versus Hornet for example = many more are visible and available in Hornet. Also, Grindr is very expensive (when compared to the other apps) and they are always upselling additional services for things that are basic on other apps - like to be able to see who visited my profile. Grindr acts like RyanAir where they try to make you pay for every single basic feature.2 points -

Not sure if it has been mentioned in here, but among the events of BKK saunas I would also include the naked rooftop party which ends up being one big orgy at Chakran on Friday nights. I think it starts at 8PM. The crowd tends to be smaller than in some other saunas (I would say around 40-50 guys) but the quality is really high. Mostly twinks and in-shape cute young guys. Personally it's a bit difficult to choose on Saturdays between R3 or Krubb. R3 has more performers though you usually have the same ones the next day at Mania. Krubb has actually a more mixed crowd while R3 especially on O-party nights tend to be 80-85 percent Chinese. If you are in shape or if you're a top and quite endowed down there you will have fun at whatever sauna you choose. Haven't tried any onsen yet in Bkk though quite a few Thai friends have recommended them to me. Considering Thai weather though, I would go there mostly during December-February.2 points

splinter1949 reacted to bkkmfj2648 for a topic
Haha I'm not really much of a drinker so no alcohol is ok with me. It's just kinda disappointing that the bars would be closed on Thurs cos I love watching the shows there 😕 I agree with the above suggested action plan for Thursday. I am a "pensioner", since 2 years here, and when these types of Buddhist holidays would occur, I found myself in amazement (I was not yet indoctrinated into the Thai ways - which are VERY similar to the Italian ways of getting around the law found in Italy - where they have a word dedicated to this activity = "scappatoia") when we were at the beach with my volleyball friends and they said to me - we need to get some beer and drinks to liven things up here - as all of the bars are closed. But I replied, "we cannot - it is illegal to buy alcohol for these 24 hours..." They all laughed at me - as the Thais truly love when us farangs are bewildered. One of them said to me, come with me, and I will show you how it is done. We went to a local "mom and pop" store (situated right next to a 7-Eleven - where ALL of the 2 alcohol selling zones were taped off with prohibition signs) and my Thai friend told the cashier / owner - what he wanted and she made it happen - she looked around for anyone that might rat her out and determined that the coast was clear, and I paid and we left with 2 bags of alcohol (beer, whisky, ice, cups, and snacks) and we returned back to the beach on Jomtien soi 9 I believe. I was truly amazed and I kept saying WOW - at 7-Eleven this was a BIG NO NO but at the "mom and pop" store next door it was a BIG YES YES. My friends had a good laugh at my bewilderment and they told me - Welcome to Thailand. @Foolish - another idea that you can do is around 5:30 pm (everyday) - you can walk over to the Jomtien - Dongtan gay beach area - in front of the Pattaya Tower and Water Park - right next to the Sea Rescue station - you can watch the gay volleyball which can be fun. If you offer to buy the volleyball players some refreshments - you might be rewarded with some entertainment during the night.1 point -
Why Singapore values both quantity and quality of life
khaolakguy reacted to reader for a topic
From the BBC When it comes to longevity, few places in the world have seen such a drastic jump in life expectancy as the island city-state in Southeast Asia. A child born in the country in 1960 was only likely to live (at the time) to 65, but a child born in Singapore today can expect to live to more than 86 according to estimates. In addition, the number of centenarians in Singapore doubled over the 10-year period from 2010-2020. This huge leap in longevity has largely been driven by intentional government policy and investment. The distinction even was enough to have the country named the world's sixth "Blue Zone" in August 2023. Though recently questioned for their accuracy by demographers, the Blue Zones were discovered and coined by National Geographic journalist Dan Buettner, who claimed to identify regions where people lived longer, healthier lives, in large part due to a combination of culture, lifestyle, diet and community. Singapore was the first new region to be added to the Blue Zones in decades (dubbed a "Blue Zone 2.0" by Buettner) and stands apart from the other Blue Zones in part because the longevity of its people comes more from forward-thinking policies than long-established cultural traditions in other Blue Zone communities like Ikaria, Greece or Nicoya, Costa Rica. But it's not just the quantity of life, but also the quality of life that residents here appreciate. We spoke to a few of them to understand which policies and practices make their lives healthier, and happier – and what they recommend to others seeking to live here in search of a longer life. Residents in Singapore have witnessed the government's gradual policy changes that affect their health and wellness. "Having grown up here, I've seen firsthand the transformation in community health consciousness," said resident Firdaus Syazwani, who runs the financial advice blog Dollar Bureau. "The heavy taxation on cigarettes and alcohol coupled with stringent public smoking bans not only improves individual health but also enhances public spaces, making them more welcoming and cleaner. No more second-hand smoke!" He was surprised to learn about the Blue Zone designation, if only because of the high amount of sugar, salt and coconut milk used in local dishes. But even that's changing (if slowly) because of policy. "Given our local cuisine's penchant for richer ingredients, the Health Promotion Board has initiatives to encourage healthier dietary choices among residents," he explained. "Measures like mandatory nutritional labelling and the reduction of sugar content in beverages have made a noticeable difference in public health awareness and choices. Although it's yet to be known exactly how effective this initiative is, I personally tend to steer away from sugary drinks when I see these labels."
