  2. Frankly this list is just as ridiculous as the others. It puts New Caledonia above Thailand. Nothing against NC (I've actually have visited it). Great for diving with its amazing barrier reef, but way fewer options if you want to explore something smoother than coralsđŸ€Ș. Also, Angola ranking higher than Japan and Barbados ranking higher than Hong Kong. Maybe it's a list for gay people pursuing a vow of chastity.

  3. From Bangkok Post Mark Gooding (left), the British Ambassador to Thailand, and Remco van Wijingaarden, the Netherlands Ambassador, share their experiences at the Bangkok Post Pride Every Day forum on Wednesday at Lido Connect. (Photo: Somchai Poomlard) Despite the tremendous success of Thailand in passing the same-sex marriage bill, the nation still needs to work on other LGBTQ+ issues to ensure equality and pride on a sustained basis. That was the message sent by two ambassadors to Thailand — Mark Gooding of the United Kingdom and Remco van Wijingaarden of the Netherlands — at the Bangkok Post Pride Every Day forum. Their countries enacted similar laws years before Thailand became a leader in Southeast Asia by following suit. The diplomats shared their experiences at the forum that took place on Wednesday at Lido Connect Hall in Siam Square. Both men agreed that Thailand passing such bills would benefit the country in various ways, but added this was only a starting point and there are still many things that need to be done to ensure LGBTQ+ people in Thailand enjoy full rights and legal protections. Mr Gooding said that despite the passage of the Marriage Equality Bill in 2013, which took effect in 2014, the LGBTQ+ community in the UK still faces various challenges. Therefore, it is important to embody the issue of inclusion every day because LGBTQ+ life is not a one-month event during Pride in June, he said. “Marriage equality is a very important step towards equality, but in the UK, we have to focus on various challenges such as the daily discrimination, homophobic bullies in school, access to healthcare for LGBTQ+ people, as well as hate crimes,” Mr Gooding said. “Therefore, it is not specifically in the month of June when the Pride month is [held worldwide](#). I think by working together to exchange views openly about what the challenges are — and that needs to include government — the LGBTQ+ group, government and civil society can concentrate on addressing those challenges.” Mr Gooding said Thailand passing the marriage equality bill was a major step forward. Now, he suggested the focus must be on implementing it effectively. He also pointed out that to further spread equality, all sectors must collaborate as equality requires multi-sectoral dialogue. “Equal marriage legislation is absolutely fantastic. But I would say, that passing legislation is not the end,” he said. “The next thing is the implementation and the key first step is to make sure all the circulation of regulations is in place so the people will get the benefit after it becomes law. We do not want the people to be delayed by some piece of paper.” He said he was delighted to be informed that Thailand would join the Equal Rights Coalition (ERC) as the 44th country in the framework. The ERC is a coalition of countries that come together to exchange and discuss promoting LGBTQ+ rights across the globe. “Thailand has become the leader in Southeast Asia in passing the equal marriage law and I think there will be more we can do together,” said Mr Gooding. “There are many places in the world that face serious drawbacks of LGBTQ+ rights and other rights, including women’s rights. So, I do think we need to work together to ensure international human rights to make sure that our values are protected.” Even though the Netherlands took the lead as the first country in the world to pass same-sex marriage legislation in 2001, Mr Wijingaarden pointed out that passing the bill was only the first step in achieving equality. The bill needs to be translated into adoption law, social security, insurance, inheritance and other areas related to same-sex relationships, he said. 5. As far as I can tell, there's a built-in problem for authoritarian followers. They have to wait until their leader has settled in on what they need to believe. If they head out on their own today, and the leader takes a different direction tomorrow, they've got some serious cleanup to do. Or they may be under the bus for good. Trump is unpredictable on the best of days. With the curves he's been thrown recently (Biden, Harris, Project 2025), he's going to take some time figuring out his targets. Anyone who speaks his mind before then is taking a big risk. I'd be surprised if someone as opinionated as Vance stays out of trouble. I wouldn't be surprised to hear radio silence from Trump's loyal followers until the cue cards are signed off and printed.

  6. It's useful to know that the US State Department warnings apply to heterosexuals. For example, Jamaica is classified level 3 (although many places within the country as level 4). However, for the LGBT community, it really should be a level 4 for the whole country. Same for Uganda--classified as Level 3 by the US State Department, but should really be a Level 4 for the LGBT community.

  8. Australia is hearing all of this as it happens. The loudest message we are receiving here is about abortion. This is not just a women's issue. Men need to realise that without abortion or Mifepristone then we are headed for perhaps ten million extra men paying child support for the next eighteen or so years. Let that sink in. As a footnote I heard a snarky comment regarding the MAGA morons wearing a maxi pad on their ear. What are they going to do when he has a colonoscopy or a prostate exam.

  9. From The Nation The Royal Thai Navy said on Wednesday that His Majesty the King has granted permission for it to put three royal barges on public display this weekend at the Ratchaworadit Pier. The barges, Suphannahong, Narai Song Suban HM King Rama IX and Anantanakkharat, will be tied to pontoons in the Chao Phraya River at the pier. The display will be marked with a recital of the “boat song” in two 25-minute sessions per day. The boats will be on display on Sunday and Monday (July 28-29) at the pier in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district. On Sunday, the recital will be held at 3pm and 8.30pm, while on Monday, the song will be performed at 5pm and 8pm. This activity is part of celebrations marking His Majesty the King’s sixth-cycle (72nd) birthday on July 28. The public is invited to watch the performances as well as to check out an exhibition on royal barge processions at the Rajakij Winitchai Pavilion at the pier on the said dates. The barges can also be viewed from the Royal Thai Naval Institute, which is located on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River. Visitors are urged to wear yellow, the colour representing the King’s day of birth. Since early this month, the Navy has been taking royal barges out on trial runs to prepare for the Royal Krathin ceremony scheduled for October 27. On this day, His Majesty will present robes to Buddhist monks, which will also commemorate his 72nd birth anniversary. A total of 52 royal barges and 2,200 personnel will participate in the procession down the river towards Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn. 12. Not sure what the measures are, but on just a couple of visits to Colombia I didn't sense it's particularly dangerous for gays or that they are oppressed. Could be totally wrong of course. But the gay saunas were in regular and working class neighbourhoods and not hidden in any way. In Cucuta the gay sauna is right next to a motorcycle sales and service business with a dozen or more young guys squatting around motorcycles out front that I had to walk right by to go into the sauna. It's not even the kind of thing you'd see in Canada I wouldn't think. The doorman at the Airbnb building didn't care about the young guy I brought back one night, didn't need to see his ID and they chatted a bit, not sure what it was about, but it was friendly.

    Time to return

After the above panegyric to FreshBoys, my remaining days/nights in Bangkok settled into a routine. Thursday dinner at Mango Tree, then jazz club, the return to FreshBoys, I like to be with people who are enjoying life on the stage a in the audience, and performers in the audience. Thursday, the break from routine was to schedule as off with Nam for Friday afternoon. Friday afternoon, Nam came to the hotel. He arrived at early for our meet up. He stayed until almost 6! Don’t jumble to any conclusions! The intermingling of limbs was about the length of a massage. After he had expended himself, he rested his head on my arm, then he started snoring, turned over, stopped snoring. Woke up when CoCo arrived bringing his Pattaya backpack. Nam took a shower, three of us chatted about nothing. Nam left, CoCo and I went back for more German food. I said good bye to Pao, Jazz Club, Fresh Boys still full house. Seated tonight on opposite side of house. At end of show rotation, there were 22 boys in place of the 40 at opening. Numerous offs. CoCo and back to hotel for practice for Pattaya. Up in time to find driver from Mike’s arriving early (as anticipated). Arrived Pattaya to find that is the first day of a two day religious festival. No liquor can be sold, no entertainment venues are operating. We go to Dongtan, more folks on the sands. Hotel arranged for dinner for us two. After dinner we walked the darkened and empty Jomtien. I had been complaining from the drive began from Bangkok of a heavy deep chest cough. While not noticed at the beach, it came back with a vengeance once back at The Poseidon. Then came some chills and my mind goes “Damn I’m getting sick again in Thailand” and well damn it. Coco verified I had a termperature. My body made me sleep, cold sweats. My companion responded with hot and cold compresses, went out a found a pharmacy around 2 in the morning. This was repeated on Sunday. Monday the religious holiday was over and we visited Pattaya, the Walking Street, Boys Town, went back to the beach. Still not at 50%. Up Tuesday morning at 4 to catch my flight to Tokyo on my way to Osaka, where I’m writing this. with time changes, it was over 12 hours on airports and planes and waiting. I said a sorrowful good by. Coco was a health hero. I might get sentimental so I’ll stop. Tonight one of the “Japanese Boy Brothels” will enter my experience databank. Will report in the forum.

  17. Recife Recife, the capital of Pernambuco in Northeast Brazil, is often referred to as the "Venice of Brazil" due to its waterways and bridges. While in Recife, one is likely to visit Marco Zero and from there it only cost 10rs to take a water taxi to Parque de Esculturas Francisco Brennand, a small island featuring works of the famous Brazilian sculptor. I spent three days in this city with a Brazilian friend, with the main purpose of the trip being to meet him and lift his spirits. Depression and poverty can be a dangerous combination. Unfortunately, that also meant cutting back on my visits to saunas. I only visited Termas Boa Vista on my last night in the city, despite being a week night, the visit was a success. Uber is a must in this region of Brazil, the sun sets early in July, the touristic neighborhood of Recife felt okay but on the way to TBV, I passed through some questionable neighbors that look dangerous especially at night. TBV itself felt secured, clean, and the management is welcoming. The bar area in TBV had live music and the acoustics was pleasant. The drinks were about 1/2 the price of SP and Rio and the suite was superior in comparison. There were only about seven GPs working, in general the men in NE brazil felt very masculine, more tan, and don't flash their smile as freely as Cariocas. Despite with only 7 GP on premise, I had 3-4 candidates in mind. I came to an agreement with J very quickly and we went to the presidential suite. I was blown away by the amount of passion that came from J inside the suite, easily the best kisser I ever encountered in Brazil. As @ShivRoy stated in his report, the GPs accept 100r without haggling. It was the right choice to visit TBV on my last night and I wish I had more days in Recife because during the weekend, TBV stays open until 6 AM! Overall, I can see Recife becoming a repeat destination in the future.

  30. From Thai PBS World Vareeraya Sukasem, a 12-year-old skateboarder, and 18-year-old sprinter Puripol Boonson will be the flag bearers for Thai athletes at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday. Thana Chaiprasit, chief of the Thai Olympic delegation to Paris, made the announcement today as the world’s finest athletes gather in France. As many as 51 Thai athletes will compete in the world’s largest sporting competition, from July 26 to August 11. Thirty-six of them are participating for the first time. Vareeraya, known by her nickname “ST,” is the first young Thai skateboarder to qualify for the Paris Olympics and is the youngest of all the athletes competing in this global event. She qualified for the Paris Games after an impressive performance in the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest in June. Starting skateboarding at the age of seven, ST has become one of 88 street skateboarders heading to Paris. Fans can cheer her on at the Paris 2024 Olympics, in the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France, on July 28. Skateboarding, divided into park and street events, made its Olympic debut in Tokyo three years ago, with skaters judged on the height and difficulty of their manoeuvres. Vareeraya told Agence France-Presse that her skating idol is Britain’s Sky Brown, who won a bronze medal at Tokyo at just 13 years old and will compete again in Paris. Brown will however be competing in the park event, which involves ramps and half-pipes. The Paris Olympics will also see the debut for Puripol, who has been nicknamed “Angel Bew” by the Thai media. The qualifying heats for the men’s 100m dash will take place on August 3, with the semi-final and final races scheduled for the following day. Puripol, a native of Surin province, won the 100m silver medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, clocking a personal best time of 10.06 seconds.

Luckily had photos of that morning activities at the Jebel Ali Shooting Club where I had been on the indoor range as well as the Skeet trap. Despite washing my hands they would probably be positive for the next week. Luckily the Security guys had a laugh. Having said that, quite often get swabbed, Sydney in March, HK last October. 36. I had to look up the couch story: According to a now-deleted tweet as well as several other tweets, in his 2016 memoir Hillbilly Elegy, Vance admitted to fucking an inside-out latex glove that had been placed between two couch cushions. While the original deleted tweet played it for laughs, describing him as potentially the first VP pick to have admitted to such an act, others seem genuinely concerned by it, questioning whether the confession invalidates his commitment to family values.

Now everything is also in English, and there are huge maps on the stations, giving details of all the nearby buildings. A huge advance on when I first went 40 years ago. It pays to master the Subway, it doesn't take long, there are 2 different companies, and then travel around Tokyo is remarkably easy. The gay area is around the station Shinjuku -San-chome. San is 3.

Dicks gave the appearance of having been a two-unit shop but never having been effectively joined up to make the maximum use of the potential space. Maybe the renovations are addressing that and that they will be able to cope with more customers? I visited many times in January, but several times found myself politely turned away as the place was already operating at full capacity.

Canada, Malta, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain round out the top five. But you have to travel down to #54 to find Thailand, #58 Vietnam, #64 is a tie between Singapore and South Korea, followed by #70 Japan and #84 Cambodia.
