On Sunday, I took it easy, kept up with attempt on the gauzy haired former president. There were several texts from boys who using the bar boys grapevine learned I was back in town. I went out on Sunday sight inspections of the ‘hood and found several new hotels and restaurants and more massage parlors than I remember from earlier visits. I noticed a definite bias towards Japanese and Indian tourists. Overall things looked cleaner than my most recent memory. As I was leaving Good Boysat 2am, I palmed some baht to CoCo who I’d been steered away from by the Vietnamese conglomerate. He confirmed he’d be at work by replying to my query with “Yes’ and 8:30”. I used the day to get a 2 hour Thai / aroma oil massage at Prime. After a nap, I headed over to soi 4 to visit with Pao my favorite waiter anywhere in the world, we had a mutual hug fest and caught up.. Pao as the host and real time bar and restaurant manager used to supervise, Reader, PaulSF, another former Forum member, and me as PaulSF presided from a prominent table adjacent to Hot Male Bar I & 2, and across from two clubs by a massage service. Right in front of it was the yellow brick road to take the public through Twilight. The bewitching hour arrived and at Good Boys the mamasan called CoCo over to meet and greet, he was surrounded by an uninvited posse of Vietnamese. My escort from last night had advised me whom to invite to join my table which consisted by himself, his bother, and CoCo. After a few awkward moments I told the mamasan that CoCo and I’d be leaving, his clothes changed, off fee paid and we were out the door leaving several long faces behind. Coco has developed English skills so it was easy to learn some things. First we decided that he wasn’t one to hurry an off so he could return to the club. We started toward Jupiter but got “grabbed” from Banana’s “pusher” in chief, who is an old old friend from Twilight days and so went into Banana where with his prodding and a wave to the host CoCo and I were given prime seats. Not That it was difficult as the club was lacking an audience, “sparse” was the reality maybe 20%. Half women. The show was much the same as the one I saw in May 2023. While much the same as last year, the performers go full out which disperses good energy. Drinks were 400, no cover charge. Chatted with the manager who remembered my other visits in other venues. He told me I had excellent taste in men and CoCo was proof. I suggested we head to Moonlight and CoCo agreed saying “we can go to Jupiter tomorrow”. The hook was in and this fish was willing to be pulled in. Guess tomorrow is booked. At Moonlight, first drink still 500 Thai baht. Same mamasan who was in place when it was the old Jupiter. The pre-show rotation of boys was underway and mamasan gave me background information on many of the dancers, telling me to stay with CoCo but maybe add one of Jupiter’s to the mix telling me that based my past likes.. All this while CoCo is filling in the public record on CoCo. He’s Burmese and fled Myanmar to avoid being conscripted. He’s 37, works a morning / day job at a market. He knows many, many folks, one is in the Moonlight rotation CoCo invites him over. I’m unable to tell if this is impress me or the friend. Friend is Burmese, he and Coco drink and catch up with Burmese comings and goings. Mamasan and I discuss the merits of a Laotian who is just now new to the lineup. Friend goes back to the final rotation before the show. With his shirt now off, I can see his large variety of tattoos, repeat “large”. Show begins and it clearly has been redone and rethought. Babe is the best and most polished dancer and is given two spots to shine. Nicky has more stage time and has almost learned to act and emote. What makes it work for him and the audience is that he knows it is a form of farce and they are in on the one together. Fast paced. One or two divas ( my mind blanks at these and I lose count. Mamasan notices that my back is tiring from sitting on a stool close to the stage and confers with CoCo before suggesting we move to a row with backing to the seats but a prominent visual. We move, it was a good idea, and soon many of the performers are smiling and winking at us - seems CoCois a known favorite of theirs. The gentleman and his companion seated next to tell me that I’m blessed” to have such a stunning lover. I refrain from mentioning we’ve only been together maybe all of three hours. I nod and say thanks. This show is working, the main stars have meshed together and made a connection with the audience (about 60% of the house, a third women). When the intros of the main performers are made and each comes out, Babe waves and smiles at CoCo and they share a mutual laugh across the room. When the stars last bow is taken in the center of the house with a shirt strip, Babe ends up in front of us. He’ll return when the lights some up and say hello and (if he even remembers) doesn’t mention our encounter several years back. My opinion based on only two shows so far - Moonlight has got its groove back. CoCo and I walk back to Quarter Silom. We discuss what we saw, overall opinions are similar, CoCo noting that each management sets its priorities, styles, to attract the best audience mix for its economics. He observes that Good Boys likes a full house and fills it with boys who then compete for the patrons who will buy drinks or the boys. Back at the hotel, CoCo is as stunning as people have been informing me all night. He does voice some irritation that it was apparent to him that I was interested in him and could see that the Viet ground forces has me surrounded like Dien BienPhu. Then he notes that he was able to get a full intelligence briefing on what I liked about stamp collecting and that he could teach me some moves I might like to learn. I LEARNED.9 points

Last night’s (Monday) beach walk found that more locals had gathered than the night before and small groups of young men formed circles where they kicked footballs to each other. Fewer tourists were on hand as the weekenders were gone but they were still in evidence along the long stretch of waterfront. This is truly a “public” beach. No hotel has exclusive claim on the sand and that’s how I believe it should be. Shirtless locals beat beach loungers any day. Left hotel about 10:30 to catch next flight to HCMC. Vietjet check in took about 25 minutes (better than the 50 minutes Air Asia check in at DMK Saturday morning) but immigration and baggage checks were relatively quick. Proceeded to lower level to await bus gate departure but 15 minutes before scheduled take off still no agent and no announcement . Finally guy comes rushing down and tells everyone to go to Gate 8 upstairs. Apparently there some electric problem and escalators and elevators were not working. Finally got near gate 8 (bridge gate) but two lines were longer than queue waiting to get into Beef nightclub on Soi 4 on a Saturday. Was among last to board full cabin but luckily found space in overhead for carry on. There was a delay while they located somebody to extend the air bridge. Just as we exited the plane and walked a few minutes passengers came to abrupt halt because someone neglected to unlock door leading out to arrivals area. Once that was resolved I got so see just how busy this place could be. My VN friend guided me through the maze to car he had summoned on app and half hour later we arrived at hotel. I echo everything that bkkmfj2648 said about Da nang. If you get the opportunity, GO!3 points

Barcelona - Thermas: Summary of Info
revengeboo reacted to 12is12 for a topic
Hi Guys, Before my hopefully forthcoming (not first) visit, I summarized the relevant info from the previous 12 months. [Maybe management would find fit to pin it for future uninitiated.] Anyone so inclined, please correct, criticise or add. https://www.saunaspases.com/saunathermas/ Timetable: Friday – Monday: 15:00-23:00 Tuesday – Wednesday: 24 hours Thursday: 7:00-23:00. Best hours to visit: 16:00 – 20:00 [Splash disco party: a late night event, with DJ etc. Not attended particularly by the "boys". More of a general sauna evening.] Room Rates: Entry – 22 eur; on Wednesday – 19.5 Private rooms rates: 15 – 18 – 20 – 25 (levels of luxury). Speedoo: You use one of the free cabins with a small bench and plastic covered mattress, or you rent a larger room with a bed+sheets and light (not dimmed light like in the cabins). On busier nights, might have to wait for them. Riobard: You have the option of 2 towels or 1 towel plus a large terry cloth robe on check-in. If you spread out the robe on a vinyl mattress ()not routinely swabbed between sessions, you get more cloth coverage over it. Another tip: If you rent a room that is put on your check-out tab, you have it for an hour. Write down the time from the clock at reception, making sure the attendant knows you are aware, and optionally keep the key for 55-59 minutes because you may want to fit in at least one more session. Rookie mistake is to hand back the key after 20-30 minutes and then regret it. [The light dimmers generally don’t function well.] Providers: Rate – 50 eur for 20-30 mnts; not including cum. Speedoo: If you want to spend an hour with a guy – you better ask him upfront, so he can price accordingly. I would expect some of the guys to agree to 50 Euro for 1 hour just to close the deal, but with no actual intention of spending that much time with you in the cabin (lots of excuses can come up why a session is ended prematurely). Most “boys” are Latinos from SA; especially Brazil and Venezuela; also east-Europeans. On Saturday and Sunday there’s an influx of only-weekend “boys”. Most are in the 7-inch range and thick enough. Honorably recommended here: Bruno, Paulo, Sergio, Costas, and repeatedly – Nicholas (Chile). Three Recent Impressions: Chucky: Lots of guys there, mostly South American although a couple of East Europeans. Had most of the guys approach, some very handsome and some just big cocks. Lots of Brazilians as usual and some very handsome. Definitely was more choice than last year. AndyUK: Always found this place to be nice, hassle free, great bar area and sexy guys. Top notch. keepItReal: Providers were friendly and almost all of them stopped by to say hello. Still, couldn't find an enthusiastic bttm. Mostly guys were tops or just looking for quick oral fun. Had a good time chatting with some of the providers and they seemed to be in good spirits and quite welcoming. Speedoo: The guys will get condom and lube from the bar in the basement when they agree to go with you to a cabin or room. I don’t recall if you get charged for this when you leave; presumably you do, but it’s only a few Euros. Probably only 1 type standard condoms available. I haven’t seen guys asking for special sized condoms.1 point -
With another day to go on a four-day visit to Da nang with my LT Ha Tinh friend, can wholeheartedly endorse this location if rest and relaxation is your objective. Good hotels can be obtained at very attractive rates and the tropical climate is inviting. The breakfast buffets are served until 10:30 but we found ourselves getting up at 8 to get an early start. You’ll find tons of places offering seafood on the main boulevard that runs along the beach. However, we opted to walk 15 minutes inland to the residential area where we ate with locals at Foodland prices (would have never found these on my own). The waters are warm and clear. Favorite activity is long barefoot walks along water’s edge as the sun recedes. As for eye candy, it’s on display in abundance. Particularly noticeable are the stunningly handsome groups of South Korean young men who find Da nang an attractive playground. Many Thais also make the short hop. And of course many farang singles and families. The beach at 8 this morning.1 point

Expats seek income tax clarification from the prime minister

https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/dont-panic-because-thai-revenue-has-written-to-100000-tax-residents-urging-registration-465598 Don’t panic because Thai Revenue has written to 100,000 tax residents urging registration Contrary to fake news, no expats have received Thai Revenue letters urging them to register. Panicky expats in Thailand have been advised that none of the 100,000 tax residents in receipt of advisory letters from the Thai Revenue Department (TRD) are foreigners. Nor does the letter have anything to do specifically with transmitting overseas income to Thailand. According to mainstream media, TRD Director General Kulaya Tantitemit stated that the letters had been posted to Thai nationals with financial assets, urging them to register. About half that number had done so and staff were following up on the rest. Director General Kulaya stated that her department was widening the tax base and looking to increase revenue which had been negatively affected by the reduction in the number of condominium units sold over the past year. She anticipated that the main growth areas in taxation would be in energy businesses, financial services and tourism. She made no specific reference to overseas income although, of course, that is potentially taxable. Expats are currently concerned about the closing of a tax loophole which means that their “assessable” overseas income to Thailand becomes taxable from the start of 2024 provided they are tax residents remaining in Thailand for at least 180 days during the calendar year. The actual parameters and liabilities remain unclear to say the least with some tax lawyers saying they expect TRD to make further announcements before the year’s end. The TRD does not have access to foreigners’ Thai addresses unless, of course, they choose to register with the government department. It has been rumored that such registration could become part of the process of renewing annual extensions of stay based on retirement or marriage, but the immigration bureau knows nothing of such a plan. In any case, there is no automatic connection between the type of visa granted and eligibility for tax residency. For example, some tourists could clock up 180 days in a year by exploiting the recently revised exempt visa regulations. There’s a huge amount of water still to pass under this particular bridge.1 point -
I suspect paracetamol will also be found in the medications I mentioned. Checking ingredients is always important. I once bought travel sickness tablets in a Pattaya pharmacy only to find when I checked back at my hotel against my existing regular medication that they were possibly harmful. In terms of prevention, a travel specialist doctor advised the use of tea-tree oil for the journey. A little in each nostril- not an unpleasant smell in my view- may help. I used it regularly both ways.1 point

this is what I would do. Trying to file everything earlier to catch both deadlines is still more preferable options as corrections quite often are more scrutinized than original filing At least that is the case where I live . paying taxes is easy , filing tax declarations is complicated in many countries as politicians like to mess with rules every election cycle to come up with election sausage. In some federal countries people actually need to file two sets of declarations - federal and state / provincial. I was told in New York they even have city levied income tax but not sure it's correct. Trump would know better I guess1 point

I was on planes most of last Thursday and Friday and, so, didn’t get a chance to read this topic when I saw it and decided is was a must read before updating my return to Thailand report. Much of the second installment is related to club hopping and the changes I noted since I last visited in May 2023. I learned a few things and confirmed some thoughts/suspicions. With a few real facts. Just a walk to Phat Pong@2 tells that from the Weed dealer and pink Wrestling emporium to Foodland a plethora of plethora of bars, clubs including those that feature Phat Phongs traditional welcomes have infiltrated the retreat founded when Sklylight disappeared onto construction dust. I will confirm Vinapu’s Moonlight pricing based on pre-covid pricing experience. I’ll leave other things to my own topic section measuring memories and reality. Memory goes back to the mid-80s where my experience was mainly ar NYC’s Adonis where I knew how to nod and wink and met. Now in a foreign land, I hesitantly (maybe the younger me was nervous) letting a barker hustle me into a club for boys and men with men on stage and on staff. I think maybe from the staff explained numbers to me. I winning b guide k me on an introduction tour that he had given many times prior. There were a number of rooms upstairs where we adjourned for a shower annd jacuzzi and some introductory but advanced credit stamp study. I must have shown some promise as my tutor offered to walk me back to my hotel and to be my guide the next day. Memories My appreciation goes out to Reader, vinapu, and macaroni21 as well as others for making this topic informative. One can never be toooooo old to read and learn.1 point

Why the ‘Wai’ is still in style
Ruthrieston reacted to reader for a topic
From Thai PBS World Southeast Asia’s many unique ways of greeting people fascinate visitors to the region, not least because they are a cultural trait that reflects respect and a sense of spirituality. Sadly though, while some are still popular, a few are almost no longer in use today. “The Asian continent, especially the Southeast Asian region, is laden with interesting gestures. From the way we eat – with chopsticks or with bare hands – to the way we socialize and interact with other people, these gestures set us apart from the rest of the world while also bringing us closer together,” says Janice Ho, an expert on Asian Studies. Respect and reverence “In Japan, bowing is the most recognized traditional greeting. It involves the bending of the body and lowering of the head to convey reverence. The degree to which you bend communicates your message. To say hello, the torso is bent from the hips 15 degrees; to honour someone superior or to greet a client, 30 degrees; to show deepest sorrow, respect or apologies, 45 degrees,” she explains. “In india and Nepal, the “Namaste” is used as a sign or symbol of respect. It is similar to the praying gesture of folding hands together before an image of a deity. These forms of greeting date back several thousands of years, and have always been considered a sign of respect, humility, and reverence.” In predominantly Muslim Southeast Asian countries, like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei, the hand-over-heart greeting is popular. “It is a very meaningful gesture, symbolizing an outright profession of one’s acceptance of a person. The right hand is used in making this gesture as the left hand is associated with personal hygiene,” says Bai, a university professor. This greeting is known in Malaysia as Salam Malaysia. “Flight attendants of Malaysia’s national carrier Malaysia Airlines do it to welcome passengers,” Bai notes, adding that it is also commonly used in the hospitality industry. “Among Malay populations in Singapore, this is also quite a common greeting tradition.” Ways of the wai The Thai “wai” is considered by many as one of the most graceful gestures of greeting. It involves putting the palms together, holding them up to the middle of the chest, and slightly bending the head with the fingertips just touching the chin. “The wai is usually offered to those in higher social standing and not to someone younger except when returning a wai,” explains Rati, an advertising executive. “In order to convey a higher level of respect, the wai uses a deeper bowing of the head while placing the pressed hands at different levels: at chest level for a standard greeting; face level for a colleague, elder, or a superior; and hairline level for a monk.” “For the King of Thailand, the citizens bow deeply and place their hands high, with the thumbs touching the top of their heads,” he further explained. The wai is also common to Cambodia and Laos where it is called sampeah and nop respectively. It is also used in Myanmar although the hand is positioned differently and placed near the stomach instead of the chest. “During the COVID pandemic, a World Health Organization (WHO) official suggested the adoption of the Thai wai as a form of greeting in the new normal,” Rati notes. “Just recently, the Thai Cabinet has approved the wai gesture as part of the Thai national identity for greetings and expressions of respect.” Continues at https://www.thaipbsworld.com/why-the-wai-is-still-in-style/1 point -

Barcelona: Had incredible luck at Boyberry. Even found someone to have a date with !! Therefore, I did not do Thermas, etc. Pretty cold, so I did not do the leather bars or discos, especially as regular guys at Boyberry were fine for sex. Grindr was also busy. Granada, Malaga, Cordoba, and Sevilla: Grindr had traffic, but the local guys seemed desperate. They would send me messages and pics and then be pissed as we never hooked up. Mind you, I never contacted them and often never replied to a single message due to lack of interest. Sevilla was better. From years ago, I thought Sevilla had a boy bar, but could not find one this trip. Madrid: Seemed like Chueca had tons of gay places. Guys at Boyberry fulfilled my needs so never needed the other bars or Grindr guys. Definitely some pay for play boys on grindr in Barcelona and Madrid; maybe Sevilla. Not sure of prices. Hunqz had nice looking guys listed as well as morbototal. For all of these places, tourists looking to get off and various local horny guys will vary with the seasons. As for boys, seemed like many more in the bigger cities, as expected.1 point -

The Boyberry in Barcelona sells some sex toys and is a bit of a gay video store too. They have some lockers for 1 Euro, returned when you leave for your coat etc. Then they have some video cabins with some small sliding doors over 20 cm or so glory holes. There is a downstairs too. I think it is open Tuesday and Sunday. Many booths simply to have sex in. Downstairs also has some dark rooms. The Boyberry in Madrid seems more like a bar up front. You have to get a drink or soda, etc to enter. 1 Euro or so for coatcheck, no lockers. Then more limited booths and a downstairs with booths as well. My guess is that both Boyberry places need many folks to pay 6-8 euros or so to enter or have a drink for them to stay in business. The places were about as clean as possible for piggy sex type places. Neither is a stripper place. I was never aware of any pay for play guys. But like I said, there were a few very good looking guys. Both places had a mix of guys looking for sex with other regular guys. Not too many bears or very old guys. My guess would be a mix from mid-late 20s to early 60s, a few gym rats, but mostly average build guys. I am not in my 20s or 30s, and I do not look like a fashion model, but still had plenty of fun, as an average sort of guy who plays nicely with other guys. Although the sauna boys would likely have been very hot, I am usually ok paying less than 10 euros to get off with others rather 50-80+ euros with a sauna boy. If i am looking for something special, the pay for play sauna will be there, well, at least in Barcelona.1 point -
