I was with fellow forum member last night and we had a fun night going to different bars from 9.30pm to midnight. - Banana - Freshboys - Hotmale - Good Boy All 4 bars were filled for the shows. The promoters outside each bar did a good job of getting in tourists including straight people. But after the shows, most left. Few offs. I won't say business is grim. Neither will I say it's booming. Each bar has its niche. I eventually found the right guy for me at Good Boy but I could have offed several from Freshboys!4 points

It's usually a case in hotels of every level, if one books room for two and deal comes with breakfast , breakfast is also for two. On my recent trip bkkmfj and me stay in Raya but his deal was breakfasty and mine not so one morning he invited me to utilize his 2nd breakfast offer. I second comment about need to be careful when inviting boys for meal or trip and look for signs they may feel uncomfortable. Some of us may not like those stares by other guests either, although when I notice those I audaciously blink my eye toward these nosy guests and it does the trick , at times even generating smile, no doubt out of satisfaction that their suspitions proved right, lol3 points -
This may not work. Especially for such cases, in treaties on the avoidance of double taxation there is the concept of “center of vital interests” - the place where a person spends significant time and on which the income of this person depends. If the Thai Tax Department recognizes Thailand as your center of vital interests, then, based on the above-mentioned treaty, it may recognize you as a resident of Thailand even if you have not lived in the country for 183 days. Whether this actually happens depends on the content of the double taxation treaty, and what that treaty provides for persons with a “centre of vital interests” in Thailand, if that concept is included in the treaty. And, conversely, if the center of your vital interests is recognized as the country from which you receive your pension, then in Thailand you will not pay anything, since you will not be a resident. But there is another option: you can be recognized as a resident of both countries. Yes, this is also possible. This is especially true for US citizens, who, in order to become a US resident, need to live in the US not 183, but only 31 days during the year or 183 days within 3 years, for citizens of Israel (30 days within year), Cyprus (60 days within year), citizens of UK, who has property in UK and lives there 30 days within a year (in some cases only 16 days). Bottom line: everything, once again: EVERYTHING depends on the existence and content of an agreement between Thailand and the country of your citizenship on the avoidance of double taxation. Moreover, you will need the services of both a Thai consultant and a consultant from your country.3 points

I'm someone that spends most of my travel in 5*, my exception is usually Pattaya where i prefer gay oriented hotels. I did go to Hilton a few times because of the suite that has a balcony spa, no issue other than location isn't near my usual bars. My usual in BKK is Le Meridien, but have stayed in others around suhkumvit, usually surrounded by the straight punters doing the same thing. The only time i experienced any problem was in HCMC Vietnam, because of the rules around allowing visitors past 11pm or whatever time it was. I am into twinks so these gay guys look 18-25 and often wearing revealing clothing when we arrive, but I have never had any hotel staff do more than raise an eyebrow, you can expect discretion. Other guests are the ones that give side eye or look in disgust, I just give them a very obvious smile if i notice stares, they usually get uncomfortable and look away. I do sometimes need to check with the guy if he's ok going to the breakfast buffet, some of the more shy types don't like the attention.3 points -

no, world renowned Foodland Patpong is safe bet when comes to bringing in company and on multiple occasion it's what boys asked if they want to eat something suggested. At any time of day or night there's chance we spot either familar or handsome or both, face dining there alone or most often , with company. Also it pays to pay attention to passersby's as it may be chance to see somebody we know. (As we know from last trip - not necessarily blessing though ). While your idea is catchy , execution would be somewhat rude so better no to do it. Boy sitting with his farang is his companion and his only the same way like boy sitting with us is our companion and our only. It would be very bad form to try to pry attractive or familiar boy from his current sitter with. And I would not tolerate if somebody would approach boy I'm sitting with and try to arrange for anything else than handshake. But opportunity is still present if handled decently, been there , done that. One can simply try to outwait them as often after the meal parties are parting way, then it's free game , just one needs to be brave and fast. On few occasions thoughtful farang seeing that his boy sees somebody familiar can even prod him to go and say hallo to him. Happened to me in both capacities i.e. guy came to me to say hallo obviously with blessing from his farang and also I , seeing boy exchanging smiles with somebody, suggested he will go and say hallo if he wants. The same may happen in bars. We buy a drink for the boy and suddenly somebody is inviting him for a drink. If boy asks for permission , I usually agree for say 10-15 minutes break. If he leaves me on his own, his drink still half full, that's the surest way to be removed from my offing roster fort at least few trips. Certain P and A , on different occasions learned it to their peril because on next attempt to extract an off from me I in no uncertain terms told them it won't happen and why.2 points

Expats seek income tax clarification from the prime minister

I attended the 12 June 2024 PCEC (Pattaya City Expat Club) meeting PCEC where a presentation was given about the Thai government's new proposal to tax our global income if we are deemed to be tax residents (living in Thailand for more than 180 days - but the expert quoted 183 days - which I found strange). Below is the Youtube link to the 53 minute presentation that was given by Thomas Carden and related Q&A. He basically gave 3 possible alternatives: Make sure that you do not become a tax resident - live in Thailand less than 180 days. At the timestamp = 27.32 in the above Youtube video, I asked the hypothetical question about living in 3 countries for 4 months each (Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia - or any other country that you desire) - and which country for your @home tax filing would be your primary out of home country primary residence? Move your out of Thailand assets to a special trust in Hong Kong - where they would not be taxable when the funds would be sent into Thailand. I found this part of the meeting difficult to follow - especially for us retirees who already reside in Thailand and are already receiving active pension payments from countries outside of Thailand - as to how these assets would be moved to Hong Kong and even if I would want to even contemplate this idea. I remained skeptical. Remain in Thailand as tax resident and request a Thailand tax ID and make the required tax filing. Obviously, you would need to find a tax accountant who would be specialized in tax treaties to avoid double taxation who would understand your specific financial situation as well as your back @home tax filing (if required). I can tell you that the mood in the packed meeting was not pleasant and many people were quite surprised what we were hearing the speaker say. Below are links to 3 related articles written by the local Pattaya journalist, Barry Kenyon, who writes for the Pattaya Mail. Barry is also a frequent speaker at the PCEC meetings and was in attendance at this 12 June 2024 meeting. https://www.pattayamail.com/news/forensic-handwriting-analysis-and-thailand-proposal-to-tax-global-income-were-the-two-topics-at-the-pattaya-city-expats-club-463293 https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/dont-panic-experienced-tax-adviser-tells-expat-club-in-pattaya-463018 https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/foreigners-are-frantic-about-thai-income-tax-blurs-463107 I complained to one of my local astute Thai friends about all of this and he replied to me, "it is your European OECD that is pushing Thailand to tax global income...." Also, what was illuminating is that one of the recent Thai election campaign promises was to give Thai citizens a digital wallet with 10.000 baht in it. Well now the Thai government is looking for ways to fund this HUGE campaign promise and us tax resident farangs are an easy target as we don't have a voice nor any rights to protest about it - except with our feet - because, if this global taxation is realized, some of us will choose to only live in Thailand part time or not live in Thailand at all. So, what will that cost the government? Thoughts / comments ? Would this influence your decision to retire in Thailand ?2 points -

Wow Marc, You truly are a wealth of historical information and a breath of fresh air. I love this kind of gay historical details from the past, as it truly helps to understand what we see, feel, and experience (or are not able to experience) in today's gay Pattaya world. It is rich in details where the history is quickly evaporating due to the passing of our fellow founders of gay Pattaya from the past. These legacies are still vivid as we can sometimes see them in the remaining building facades - which are often covered up by what is new today. I truly believe that if we can understand our past we can see where we are going. It would be great if there was a small museum that retained all of this information of Pattaya's gay past - as well as even Bangkok's - especially with the loss of soi Twilight - which for me was just as magical as was the Pattaya Boyztown main walkway where the 9pm BBB parade was. It was those memories that pushed me to retire in Thailand. The famous youtuber, Bangkok Pat, sometimes alludes to the former gay past of Bangkok. Is there a Bangkok Pat equivalent for Pattaya ?2 points -
There were many places on the globe where male companionship was for sale, mainly for female consumption. Despite admonitions from the British missionaries (who came to do good and yes they did very well!), during the hay-day of the ocean liner trade rich women from god-only-knows-where would come and canoodle with the Hawaiian beachboys. They were a major attraction! They brought in many tourists. You can read about all this in Michener's book Hawaii if you are interested. The Hawaiian culture has a far looser attitude toward sexuality than the uptight Protestants.2 points

Here goes: When we see the word "The" before what looks like a country name, it is generally because the word had been used to refer to a geographical feature well before the country even came about. In English, geographical features are typically indicated with the definite article "the". Thus, we speak of "the Alps", "the prairie", "the Danube", "the Arctic". I believe @Londoner is right in that the present state of which the city of Banjul is the capital takes its name from the river, known as The Gambia. The river was The Gambia, the same way we speak of The Volga, The Danube, The Ganges, The Mississippi, The Yangzi, The Chao Phraya. When is country is formed and takes its name from that geographical feature, English tends to be conservative and keeps the word "The" with it. If tomorrow, there is a realignment of borders and a new state is formed in the Danube basin, and the new state wishes to call itself after the river, we would refer to it as The Republic of The Danube. (not Republic of Danube). The pre-existing geographical feature does not need to be a river. "The Sudan" was for centuries the term used to refer to a vast, topographically flat (relatively speaking) area stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, between the Sahara and the Bight (Gulf) of Benin inhabited by black-skinned people. It's an Arabic term, useful to the Arabs and North Africans to refer to the vast area to the south with whom they traded extensively. The modern state with the same name is a fraction of the size of the historical Sudan. But in the same conservative fashion, the English language would refer to the state as the Republic of The Sudan. In Southeast Asia, there is The Republic of The Philippines, for similar reasons. For hundreds of years those islands had been referred to by their Spanish name, "Las Islas Filipinas", named after King Philip II of Spain. It's similar to they way we refer to The East Indies or The West Indies or The Canary Islands. So when the Filipino republic was formed and it chose to take the name of the geographical feature, it kept the word "The" in its name, this being the English convention. In Southeast Asia too, there is a truly odd one which few people realise is odd. When Europeans (particularly the French) first met the top dog in region to the West of Vietnam and Northeast of the Kingdom of Siam, that big guy introduced himself as the king of all the Lao tribes. He said something to the effect that "I am the King of the Lao people, or King of the Laos." It was an interesting moment of culture clash. Europeans conceived of statehood as a political power controlling territory (due to their history of feudalism). The people were secondary. If they lived in the territory, OK, the humans would, as a consequence, come under the rule of the power. Elsewhere in the world, particularly Asia, rulers saw themselves as ruling over people. If the people lived in a territory, then indirectly the land would be brought under the king's power. And if the people moved around, the king still expected that the people remained his subjects wherever they went off to. Thus the big guy in Luang Prabang saw himself as ruler of the Lao tribes, just as the guy in Phnom Penh saw himself as ruler of the Khmer people. Today we seldom realise that the word "Laos" got corrupted along the way. Where it used to refer (in plural) to a collection of tribes and peoples, we now use it to refer to a defined territory - but only in English. The official name of the country is not Laos, it is The Lao People's Democratic Republic. They are still using the word "Lao" to refer to the people, not the land.2 points -

Tunisia
Daniel reacted to Santiagodc for a topic
I had a chance to travel for one month to Tunisia back in August and sample many of the wonderful young Arab men available. Here are some of my notes: Tunis: When I arrived, the messages on Grindr began to light up considerably. As I did in other countries, I would ask to video chat and most chose not to. It was clear in two instances that the men were contriving something as they insisted that I come to their place in the far rural section of Tunis. I agreed in one instance to meet, but decided to arrive two hours before. I sat at a café and watched the area. The young man in question arrived with four of his friends. The man sat at the bench in the center of the park where he wanted to meet, and his four friends scattered around the park. At that point I got up and took a taxi back to my hotel. I texted the guy and asked why he did not come alone as requested. When I showed him the long-range photo I took, he said he would report me to the police. Obviously, he would not and could not since he had no information. He proved the point that Grindr in Tunisia can be dangerous. I stayed the first week in a tourist hotel on Ave Habib Bourguiba (hereafter AHB) which is the main avenue in Tunis. Guests were not allowed back at the hotel so I had to try other venues. I had stayed in Tunis six times before, and usually frequented the three centrally located movie theatres where there were always some men available for action. Unfortunately, these movie theatres have now become strictly legitimate and do not allow any gay action in them at all. I also tried the Belvedere Park and Tunis Zoo which was where you could usually pick-up men and use the woods. Sadly, there were just families during the day and no men out in the evening. I had previously had good luck at both places. For this trip, I was able to find young guys only by walking the AHB. There are benches all along the central pedestrian section of the Avenue. Get yourself something to drink and just sit and watch the people. Inevitably, there will be some young guys that will walk up, sit down, and start a conversation clearly for money. In three instances I asked where we could go. In all three they took me to one of the theatres. So, while the theatre itself had no guys available, you could go in separately and then find each other in a quiet area. The biggest theatre in Tunisia (over 500 seats and three levels) is right on the AHB and is called Cinéma Le Colisée. I used to have great fun in previous years with guys in the lower section there, but now you need to find and bring your guy from outside. The second place to meet guys is at the corner where AHB crosses Rue de Marseille. Get yourself a coffee at the corner Patisserie Naouri and sit to watch the guys come by. If you smile and want to talk, you will need to get up and go chat as the servers are very careful to not allow bystanders to interfere with guests. The third place to find guys is at the east part of AHB where it meets Place du 14 Janvier 2011 (this is where the famous Clock of Habib is located). Get yourself a coffee from the corner Pomme De Pain and sit to watch all the boys gather in the park next to it. The park is located between the Pomme De Pain and the Café La Fontaine. You can have a conversation with the guys and most will know a place nearby in an alley or side street where you can do the deed. Almost all the guys at the first three places were active, while the guys at the corner park area were active and passive. I later returned on my exit from the country to stay one more week in an Airbnb that had a private entrance. In that case, I took guys back from the third location park with no problem. Sousse: I stayed in an Airbnb with private access. You can easily figure out the places to stay by reading the reviews of places on Airbnb. If a gay had a problem bringing back a guy, you will see that he compliments the owner for the security of the place and the night guard. He likewise compliments the owner for private access to signal to the rest of us the option to bring a guy back. I stayed in Sousse three weeks this time, but have also stayed six times before. The main road for finding guys is along the see wall pedestrian area starting at the northern end on Ave Hedi Chaker (hereafter AHC) where it meets the Hotel Riadh Palms, and then simply walk down the sea wall pedestrian area south past the Place Bou Jaaaar and down the Habeeb Burgioba Street (hereafter HBS) until you get to the Claridge Hotel. I walked that several times a day and you can always find young men. I found guys this time for service at two places. The first was by sitting with other gay men at the famous Café La Sirene at the Place Bou Jaafar. Sit there at the outside covered tables, have yourself an orange juice, and just watch the many many guys that parade by. If you are interested in a guy, you can ask him to join you and the staff will have no problem. The second place is the Café Jus Glaces at the corner of HBS and Rue Palestine. Sit, get a drink, watch the boys, and invite some to sit at your table. Do a google maps search and it will even show you ME sitting at the bar watching the boys go by. The go-to bar for guys keeps changing every year it seems. It used to be a bar on the northern end of Sousse near Mongi Slim, but this time it was closed. As for where to have sex, Airbnb was the way to go this time. I was able to invite many men back with no problems. Now, I did have two guys that showed me ID and they were clearly 19, but they looked much younger and I did not want to risk it. So, I asked THEM where we should go. In one instance the young man had me pay for an unofficial one-hour hotel. It required him to first talk with the clerk with me outside, then he waived me in, I passed the money to the clerk, and off we went to the room for an hour. The same happened with a second guy who took me to another place. I was very cautious because I would not provide my ID to get a room as is normally required by law. So I told the young men that I had no ID and they knew a place to go. It went so well that I always first asked a guy if he knew of a place to go. If they did not, then I would use my Airbnb. Interestingly, several other guys told me they come to Sousse from the rural areas to make some money for a few days. If they don’t get a room, then they have to stay on the streets or in a Hamman. The final place for me was the legit theatre on HBS known as Cinema Le Palace next to the Bar Tapas. This smaller theatre shows legitimate movies and is VERY frequented by couples to make out. However, there always seemed to be at least one guy for sex there in the afternoons that you could meet in the smallest bathroom stall I have ever encountered. Interestingly, the two young men who run the theatre for their family (an old man or old woman always takes the money) were both available for blow jobs when I was there. One is a bit strange with glasses, and the other seems to dye his hair a different color each time I visit. GRINDR: Be warned it can be dangerous. SEX: Most of the guys are active, like to get sucked, will fuck, and many will also kiss. Tunis and Sousse both had passive guys, but they were usually dressed with lipstick and overtly effeminate. As you will note from police reports, Sousse especially has very young guys for trade. In turn, Sousse is very active in arresting those who pay for underage sex. Two German men were arrested the week I was there because one of them took back an underage boy to his apartment and was reported. Stings are the norm and money/bribes will not help out. As one French gay couple told me, there are weekly stings that are set-up precisely to entrap foreigners who prey on the underage there. There are plenty of young boys/guys that are available of legal age. PAY: The street guys usually wanted 30-50 Tunisian dinars ($11-$18 USD) for a quick blow job. When I took a guy back to my place, they usually asked for 50-75 dinars ($18-$27). LANGUAGE: Arab and French, although the boys seem to know German and English as many gay tourists come from Germany and the UK.1 point -

I've never experienced joiners fee at any hotel, if it's a LLT guest i'll usually reserve for 2 people, otherwise it's always just for 1. I have heard the 5* Avani in Pattaya does have a joiners fee, but i cancelled my booking when i read that, so i never confirmed it. If you bring a second person to the breakfast and your reservation is for 1 person then you will usually have that added to your bill, they just let you know it's xBaht then mark it down. You don't get the ID checks/hold, which i know some people prefer for their safety. I'm sure if the concierge knew of a troublemaker or had age concerns it would be addressed though.1 point

Train from Bangkok to Beijing inching closer
khaolakguy reacted to reader for a topic
From The Thaiger Train travel between Bangkok and Beijing is moving closer to reality as Thailandgears up to expand its rail network. This new venture promises to transform travel and trade in the region, connecting major cities in Thailand, Laos, and China. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) announced a trial service between Bangkok and Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on July 13 and 14. According to SRT spokesperson Ekarat Sriarayanphong, this link will enhance transportation between the two countries and pave the way for a seamless rail journey to China. The new route will allow passengers to travel from Bangkok to Beijing via stops in Vientiane and Kunming in southern China, where a semi-high-speed service to Beijing is available. Covering approximately 2,000 miles (3,218 kilometres) through mountainous terrain, the journey will take almost a full day. In contrast, a direct flight takes under five hours. However, the scenic and economic benefits of train travel are expected to outweigh the longer journey time. Currently, a high-speed train operates between China and Laos, significantly reducing freight delivery times to China. What used to take two days by truck now takes just 15 hours by train, according to a report by Nikkei. This efficiency boost is a game-changer for Thai exporters.1 point -

The new tax and lack of credible information from the government / tax office is one of the things that's turning me off moving to Thailand for now. My retirement income fund (not a state pension) in Australia is now tax free and has been for 5 years but from what I have read (right or wrong) is that if I were living there and transferred that money into a Thai bank for living expenses, fun etc it would then be taxed. I also think there may well be a lot of expats just hanging on for clarification of the new tax rules and if not favourable will be inclined to move to other Asian countries, the Philippines is what I am thinking would be a reasonable alternative. The problem I see with the Philippines is that the infrastructure is not as good as Thailand, healthcare for those that can afford private health insurance is ok as there are some quality private hospitals in Manila (if you can get to them in time). A positive for the Philippines is the retirement visa (SRRV) to me is so much easier and less mucking around than the Thai one, or do what a lot of expats do and just live on a tourist visa and keep extending it for up to 36 months then slip out to another country and start all over again on return. A down side for me is the city I would like to live there hasn't got much of a gay scene at all and neither has the Philippines in comparison with Thailand for that matter. Hmmn food for thought for when it becomes decision time.1 point

Thank you. But let me overstay my welcome 🤪 and bore you with a bit more. All conventions evolve; but not only do they evolve inconsistently, they also vary by regional usage. The US states of Missouri and Mississippi are also named after major rivers, but to the best of my knowledge, they have never had "The" before their names. That's American usage. And mostly because of American reporting, it's getting rare to see reference to The Sudan. American news media generally refer to the country as Sudan. (But the Americans refer to The Philippines - so the yanks are not consistent either). This evolution is sped along because we have so little use for the historical term The Sudan referring to the vast trading hinterland of the Arab and North African world, such that most have forgotten about it. On the other hand, old usage can be very sticky. We still say The Netherlands, even if people today would be hardpressed to explain what the preceding geographical feature after which the country was named was (hint: "nether/nieder"). And one more thing about whether political entities saw themselves as territory or people, pre-feudal Europe also tended to see them as collections of people. Thus we speak of the King of the Franks, the Visigoths, the Huns, and maybe King of the Allemand (was there ever one?).1 point -

From The Thaiger In a dramatic comeback, paroled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatrapledged to reclaim all parliamentary seats in Nonthaburi Province from the Move Forward Party (MFP), setting the stage for a fierce political battle. Thaksin, without directly naming the MFP, made his intentions clear. “In the last General Election, all Parliament seats in Nonthaburi were taken from us, but we will win them back. It is our mission, and we have to do it for the country.” Historically, Nonthaburi, an adjacent province to Bangkok, had been a fortress for Thaksin’s political influence through his now-defunct Thai Rak Thai Party and the subsequently established Pheu Thai Party. However, in last May’s General Election, the MFP managed a clean sweep, capturing all eight House seats in the province.1 point

I have stayed loyal to Le Siam on Soi Convent, although I also dislike the upgrades I have been given because of the awkward climbing into a bath to use the shower, while the cheaper rooms have lovely walk in showers. Also they did away with the previously excellent buffet breakfast during Covid and have never reinstated it. At least now I can just walk across the road to the new building and go to Took Lae Dee restaurant in the basement for a lovely breakfast.1 point -

i Just booked Tarntawan for November, 2000 THB net with b'fast for 2. It's a solid $50 usd a night hotel in my book ....and with the way hotel prices have been increasing, it's really worth about $75. I can also stay at the Conrad for about $80 usd (worked for Hilton) and have stayed there before , but the location is awkward and Tarntawan does a good job and the workers all know me and the location is only a short motorbike ride to Soi 4 😛1 point -
That's the beauty of life, we put our unique price tags on various things. Price notwithstanding, I'm not fan of luxury digs when travel for practical reason - I noticed to tend to spend more times indoor in better places while in bare bone ones I'd like to shower, shave, have a tea and get out. On another hand I'd rather overpay and be close to main attractions than save money and bed in some remote , yet cheap alley. Drawing a line is a great idea as on vacations we tend to react more impulsively being generally in good mood. On last trip I got an offer from absolutely stunning guy with personality and English proficiency to match for 10000 overnight. He did not budge and for 3 days I was nursing an idea of succumbing to his charms but since it doubled my line I decided to keep my limits. Not sure I did right thing but I'm sure I did it right- savings on 5 stars thus obtained financed 3 meetings with 4 stars guys.1 point

So i’m back from Sousse tunisian boys - Specially straight boys - are really gorgeous in my opinion Arab men have the highest sex appeal in the world but it’s subjective of course - and among Arab men Tunisians are in my top five. Their strong and Hairy legs make me crasy So i walked the « «main road for finding guys » and sat at the « two places » But didn’t see so «many many guys that parade by » as described by Santiagodc. But i saw lot of old european gays who didn’t seem very enthusiastic. at both places « the guys for services » weren’t my type : too skinny, too effeminate or too young. But on the « corniche » or in the neighbouring streets i met a lot of gay for pay men and actually THEY choose you ( strong gaze and growl). They weren’t among the most handsome men you could meet in the street but more boys next door. in bed, you really feel yourself in the hands of straight macho men. They kiss, know how to suck tits and fuck your ass without delicatess. My body is yet full of hickeys and bruises… that was hummm so delicious. They cum quickly though. my place and appartement for rent I had luck too in the medina with a young man who spoke me in a very directive manner and almost raped me in his grand mother’s ruined khan Forget Matmata i only saw old women there In Chenini, the boys weren’t attractive In conclusion, sex was really hot ( for those who like G4p) and i love the way i have been desired in bed. Men don’t just pretend. they really want to have fun with you. but i’m frustrated not to have been able to put the sexiest in my bed I will go back in Tunisia because among the country i visited it’s the one where my body had the more pleasure.1 point -
Your intentions were good but I was just wondering what the impact on the fellow would be in terms of his views about you if a local clinician were to later reflect that the drug and dosage of his initiation was incorrect. In actuality, he might be more inclined to seek PrEP at this point and that is not a bad thing. He might not know enough to realize the medication disconnect if and when Truvada is dispensed. Anyway, as you indicate, now you know. It’s certainly not egregious to sub one for the other in a pinch according to the idea that having some prophylaxis is better than none. However, the prospects for eventual on-demand Descovy appear slim. There is no registered trial assessing its non-inferiority to event-driven Truvada. There is minimal interest in additional innovative on-demand regimens and the strategy of trading off specific drug toxicities in reduced uptake may be less paramount. One proposed study has not achieved lift-off. Even if it gets off the ground the endpoint is about 2028. It is no longer feasible ethically to have placebo-control arms, so how to approximate a gold standard method is more complex. Although the Descovy comparator is Truvada, the control group idea is substituted with background HIV incidence in non-recruited MSM. That itself reduces the analytical rigour. Moreover, the methodology described is the usual Truvada 2-1-1 but Descovy 1-1 (reduced lead-in dose loading as well as absent the final post-intercourse ‘for good measure’ dose), counterintuitive relative to the logical assumption of equal number of tablets one would expect in study arms. Demonstrating daily Descovy for vaginal intercourse PrEP efficacy is probably of greater importance.1 point

very well described, Scott. Two small things 1) at Taurus while the interactivo action starts downstairs on a platform they put near the bar where the interactivo guys indeed stand while others sucking/rimming/fondling/touching them, quite soon afterwards the action and the crowd moves upstairs to this giant fuckodrome they have in the well-lit upstairs room leading to darkrooms - that fuckodrome is essentially a huge rectangular mattress/couch taking pretty much the whole room - in that respect Taurus is a tad different 2) agree on a general level of interactivo casts - still, once or twice a week one of the bars would have a goldfish of another level, and that's the night(s) worth attendng. On a regular night, that would be a bulk order of more ordinary guys - however hey, 45 reais cover plus a free caipirinha, and then a free orgy - even if I don't want to partake, that's a valid way to, say, spend an hour (but I tend to go to those nights only where there is that goldfish talent).1 point
