  2. I was asked (via Google translate) for 2K during a massage at a Surawong shop last week. My reaction was to get up from the table and begin reaching for clothes. Guy quickly punched in 1k on screen. They’re playing the odds. They figure a certain few with agree. Five years ago their predecessors would have asked, “you come to Bangkok before? (Or something like that) before going for the big money. In this case, the guy went on to put in a good, cheerful performance. I actually might take him again. I’m a big believer in staying with the winners. I agree, however, a purely greedy one is off putting.

Whatever one may say I still strongly believe there are very few places in the world where on may hire hunky model material for 120-150 USD if not less for overnight company .

  5. @Matthew285 hits the nail on the head. Gay visitors to Thailand are spread out over a spectrum. At one end would be those who have been regular visitors for years, even decades. So naturally, their point of reference would be the prices that used to be. Moreover, by now they are likely to be older and retired and on fixed incomes, so they will notice how prices have moved. At the other end of the spectrum are newer and generally younger visitors to Thailand (Thank heavens for them, otherwise the scene would be well and truly dead). Their point of reference would be prices in their home countries. My guess is that the ratio between prices in Thailand and prices the West have not budged very much, though in dollar terms, both prices have moved up. So, the new generation of visitors to Thailand are as delighted with the happy discounts they see today in a similar way as the previous generation saw (and were delighted) back then.

Darn, my visit this year was a bit lackluster without seeing the Tawan nightly shows with big beefy guys grinding on the stage💪🏻💪🏻🤤🤤. Hope everything goes smoothly with their much awaited opening.

  9. The mainstream Thai media appears to have been caught completely off guard by the announcement and is beginning to play catch up. This was just posted on Thai PBS World. The Cabinet has decided to exempt pre-travel visa requirements for tourists from 36 more countries, in addition to the current 57, in an effort to attract more tourist arrivals to boost the Thai economy. Government Spokesman Chai Wacharonke said that tourists from the 93 countries can stay in Thailand for up to 60 days instead of 30 days as before. Moreover there would now be 31 countries which can now apply for Visa on Arrival, at the immigration counter at their point of entry. He said the government has also granted the “Destination Thailand Visa” to skilled foreigners and freelancers who want to work from Thailand, allowing them to stay for up to 180 days, with an extension of 180 days. Under-graduate students at Thai universities can stay in the country for one year following their graduation, so they can find jobs, travel or undertake other activities.

  10. I guess I’m lucky as my pension is the same as my salary before I retired. However the cost of living increases we receive don’t seem to keep up with the real inflation out there. i did sell one of my condos right about when Covid hit and I’ve blown through that money. Now I’m planning on selling my other one and renting. I think 1500 short time is reasonable. I find bar bills rather expensive though. But I like hanging out in bars. i spend half the year in Pattaya and half in USA. So I only pay for one round trip flight.

  14. As I already wrote in one of the posts here, for me Thailand has become more commercial and less interesting, and in 2019 I switched to Vietnam. If we talk about the trend, then after Covid I am seeing a sharp increase in trips to Vietnam in Siamroads, and a decrease in trips to Thailand. I predict that Siamroads will have more trips to Vietnam this year than to Thailand.

  15. I found it bit more expensive but what is not ? So far I did not cut trips for financial reasons neither I plan to. If I need I will be looking for savings somewhere else. I'm low maintenance at home and , other than boys , also when travel which helps. Some if us are complaining about bar prices and yet nest in Hiltons and Marriots if the world so there's a lot of reserves to save on.

  16. This post is for us VISITORS who holiday in Thailand I was talking to another gay farang yesterday in Pattaya , a man in his late 70's from Europe "It's now daaaaamn expensive!!!😆 Older guy who had been coming to pattaya for years on & off He mentioned something to me now that he doesn't work ( retired in Belgium I think he said )🇧🇪 That Pattaya and his yearly trips are just becoming too damn expensive!! He said he was on a Government old age pension and was retired from work. So by the time he pays airfares , accommodation, now boys are demanding 2000 baht etc ,bars ,meals, his 3 weeks trip was something like $3000 US I think he said it over The point is ,I'm still working so can afford it although I have cut down on money boys and bars I did suggest he use the sauna nearby but he said his "fetish" was young guys who didn't frequent the sauna I do save money because my fetish is older But have any of you guys actually cut down your visits because of financial reasons? Instead of twice a year or more it's now once ? Do you find it too expensive to do the number of trips you used to do ? I guess if you retired on a big retirement fund ,own your own home etc it doesn't bother you

    Not the same room

Got the same experience, when I return home to Philippines earlier this month before heading to Bangkok I chose to stay in a 4 star hotel instead of going to my house and but it was meh, I didn't find value for my buck. I also read some of Vinapu's trip reports where he do change hotel rooms and my first thought before was it will be such a hassle packing and unpacking your luggage each time. But when I tried it myself during my visit in Bangkok and including my return to Manila I chose to split my remaining weeks with a few Airbnb and hotels throughout, it was so refreshing to have a different view every now and then. Thanks @vinapu for the idea.

TB is often the first indication of Hiv+. I don't know whether this is the case now but I recall reading about strains of TB that are resistant to the usual medications across the world. I remember a Thai guy some years back who made zero progress while under the common (perhaps cheap?) medication at his hospital but was able to find the money to buy a more effective one which worked quickly.

  29. From The Nation Thaksin Shinawatra will be indicted on charges of lese majeste (royal defamation) and computer crime, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) said on Wednesday. Attorney General Amnart Jetcharoenrak issued an order to indict Thaksin on both charges on Monday, OAG spokesman Prayut Phetkhun said. The charges stem from an interview Thaksin gave in South Korea in November 2009. However, the filing of charges in court was today postponed after Thaksin’s lawyer submitted a medical certificate showing his client had contracted COVID-19 and had been advised by a doctor to rest for seven days. The lawyer asked for the indictment hearing to be postponed to June 25. After considering the request, the prosecutor granted the postponement and ordered Thaksin to appear at an indictment hearing on June 18. “Currently, Thaksin is a suspect, which will change to a defendant once the court accepts the case,” the spokesman said. Police allege Thaksin committed lese majeste in an interview with Time magazine on November 9, 2009. In 2015, the Army filed a police complaint over the interview. In 2016, the AOG decided there was enough evidence to prosecute Thaksin and issued an arrest warrant. The statute of limitations for the offence is 15 years, starting from 2015. Thaksin had requested fair treatment in the case after returning from self-exile in August last year, prompting the Office of the Attorney General to investigate again. Thaksin is currently on parole after serving six months of a one-year jail sentence, commuted from eight years, for abuse of power during his tenure as prime minister from 2001 to 2006.

Praises, praises everywhere -- their videos sound like oversell advertorials. And yes, there are those distractions. Not just their teeth (as mentioned) abut also the way they pronounce some words. I just can't get used to their pronouncing 'delicious' as DEE- lishuhs.

  34. There simply isn't enough attraction in Thailand to make me want to stay 60 days. But if it also applies to the working boys from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, etc, then it reduces the number of visa runs they make by half, which may then draw a few more of them into the business-that-we-all-know-about. That would be the best news.

  37. As someone new to Thailand having had my first visit in February, with my second comming in November and then February again I dont have the history that most on this forumn have. I can only say that I found the prices to be excelent for me, compared to the UK, and it was not just the bars and boys but just the general feeling of being so relaxed and having a holiday. I suppose its what your used to paying and for newcomers like me i still see it as bargin prices. i am in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, for the first time for 16 nights later this year and it will be interesting to see what is the same and different from the knowledge I have after 1 visit to Bangkok. Just to say reading these forumns before my first trip made it so much more enjoyable.

  40. I note that my Jomtien hotel is putting-up prices for my November visit, but only by 200 baht pn. Bearing in mind that I've been paying the same price there for five years, I'm not complaining. I also see that baht-buses are charging the same 10 bht that they were in 2000. Beer prices in bars are higher than in 2000, but the increase is less than it is in the uK. Restaurant prices have risen a little but they remain excellent, so much so that I find London prices fearsome when I come home. Air fares have certainly increased but there are many good deals for long-haul flights available, at least from the UK. As for travel within Asia, the budget airlines still provide good value. When I arrived in 1995, an off was in the region of 500 bht+ but it had increased to 1000 bht by 2005. If it is now 1500 in Pattaya, then the increase is by no means surprising. I understand BKK prices are higher. When I was (idly!) Googling London prices, the usual sum required was (in Thai terms) at least 6000 an hour. Conclusion; we get a good deal. Or at least, I do. Anyway, for me, my trips to Thailand are such an essential part of my life that any sacrifice at home is worth it.

  42. In shops with minimum tips (800-1,000 range), I rarely get asked how much for climax. It’s generally understood by all that the tip is inclusive. I typically give an extra few hundred baht for exceptional performance, especially if I intend to repeat with same guy. in shops with no minimum, I tip in the same range.

While I believe most New Yorkers favored Fire Island, more than a few found their way to P-town for vacations. For years there was a meat rack of sorts under the deck of a popular Commercial st. club (the Bostslip, famous for its late afternoon tea dance) that drew a lot of horny guys on evenings at low tide. The dunes were known for public displays of affection and performance.

I'm not a subscriber to twitter or whatever Elon Musk wants to call it nowadays, but a quick websearch turned up a a twitter listing ( @greenappleboys. 09165573269) with a Filipino phone number. Then there's a search result for saying "videos related to Green Apple Boy on TikTok", (https://www.tiktok.com/@madzlatest/video/7135073372731477274) which takes you to Sunkissed Spa in Pasay, Manila. Separately, there is a Facebook profile (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064043646772) which refers to a place in San Pedro, a town on the outskirts of Manila. This Facebook page has not been updated since January 2021. Did you think Green Apple Boys is/was in Bangkok? Because you posted this in the Gay Thailand Forum. There is a Green Apple Spa - all girls, by the looks of it - in the Ratchaprarop area and a Green Apple Hostel in Khao San Road.
