Good...I'll accept that. The president is like a director of a movie/TV show....he's surrounded by experts, generally. The movie director generally listens to his cinematographer set designers, lighting people, etc..... occasionally the director over rules someone and wants something done in a particular way. I trust the people that Biden will be surrounded by.....so if he went full blown dementia, like Ronald Reagan.... I still feel that we'd be OK. Trump on the other hand, learned his lesson the first time around. He's not hiring ANYONE that would do THEIR JOB competently, like the generals and sec of state. He's only going to hire people that agree with him on anything, like Kellyanne Conway and her type.......... THAT is what worries me about him. And that picture of Biden. with what to do...isn't new. Lot's of executives and politicians have those.... if you've never been involved in politics, you know, our type...not the dictator ones, this is quite normal. Ever notice how Trump just wondered around at times not knowing where to go....because, he didn't pay attention to his staff's instructions.3 points -
Survey Reveals Rises in Tourist Spending
splinter1949 and 2 others reacted to reader for a topic
NOTE -- I highlighted the sentence about street food because I saw that in evidence nightly on Patpong One nightly on recent trip. From Tourism Authority of Thailand A Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) survey has revealed that foreign tourists have increased their spending on accommodation post-pandemic, showing a preference for luxury hotels or resorts despite higher airfares. The survey, which involved 30,054 tourists in 2023, highlighted that average spending per trip rose to 50,900 baht, up from previous years. Accommodation costs accounted for a significant portion of this expenditure, averaging 23,518 baht per trip. The survey also showed a shift in dining preferences among tourists, with an increase in those opting for street food, rising from 63% to 77.3%. This change has led to a decrease in the average spending on food and beverage to 4,094 baht, down from 5,875 baht in 2019. Café hopping has emerged as a new trend, increasing in popularity among tourists. The TAT observed spending patterns among different nationalities, with tourists from the Middle East being the biggest spenders, followed by visitors from Oceania, the US, and Europe. The survey highlighted the evolving landscape of travel bookings, with a majority of individual travelers (53.7%) using online platforms for trip arrangements. Despite this, travel agents and tour operators still play a significant role in the industry.3 points -

Politico gave the shoes a big push today. I actually think it is a good way to bring America together. Fashion is always more fun thsn politics. Trump Released a Sneaker Line. Here’s How to Wear Them. Donald Trump is the least racist man in America. Just ask any Black (well, maybe not those Central Park Five guys), and they will tell you he has done more to promote racial healing than MLK, John Lewis, and for sure Kamala Harris. Everyone says he does the best racial healing. The media gives him the best grades for racial healing. So, yeah. MAGA folk as 80's rapper. I love it. And the MAGA base, which is mostly working class Blacks, obviously will too. Even has a touch of Ronald Reagan from the 1980s. It just screams to me, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." Then again, a lot of the MAGA folk are snobs. High end sort of this people. Let's take Tim Scott, if he's Veep. So this adds some class: That whole hair thing may be a problem for Tim. But he's a cutie. It would work with his distinguished bald look. Now, there is that small minority of the MAGA base that is White. And as open-minded and multi-cultural as they are, this may work better for them: it even has that whole prison rape chic thing going on. It would be perfect!2 points -

I visited Complices Spa in Bogota this evening which is a Thursday. The place was filed with hot 20-somethings, most of which were interested in playing with me even though they are about two-thirds my age and my Spanish is abysmal. One guy told me Colombians think Americans are hot or, at least that is what I think he said. For so many different reasons, that absolutely should not be a thing (and may not be since his English was on par with my Spanish) but, in any case, he had a sexy tattoo of a small bird on his chest, abs and a really nice uncut cock so I let him (and others) fuck me. The sexy underwear or nude dress code does take some getting used to and probably isn’t for everyone but I adapted and got into it pretty quickly. I’m told Sunday afternoons/evenings are also good.2 points -

I mentioned in a recent post that the street food area in Patpong 1, which takes up at least one third of the soi, was buzzing in January. Not a spare seat. Food looked pretty good. And beer was cheap. It was interesting that there were still a few girly bars up that end, but they were sidelined by the food court.2 points -

From The Nation ‘Than On’ back in Thailand for third visit in 7 months His Majesty the King’s second-eldest son, Vacharaesorn Vivacharawongse, on Wednesday posted a photo of himself at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province on his Facebook wall with the caption “I have returned home, as promised”. The post has attracted over 25,000 likes and welcoming comments from netizens. This is his third trip to his homeland in less than a year. After living abroad for 27 years, Vacharaesorn and his younger brother, Chakriwat made their first visit to Thailand on August 7, 2023. Vacharaesorn is fondly called “Than On” by Thais, while Chakriwat is known as “Than Ong”. Vacharaesorn, 42, who works as a lawyer in New York, travelled to Thailand again on December 4 to attend Father's Day celebrations on December 5 in Bangkok. He also visited several provinces, including Nong Khai, Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram and Chachoengsao, before returning to the United States on December 18, when he posted: See you again. #ThailandIloveyou #ileaveonlytoreturn A news source revealed that Than On’s could stay in Thailand until April during this third visit to celebrate the Songkran Festival, also known as the Thai traditional new year, from April 13-15. It added that on his next visit to Thailand, which is yet to be scheduled, the King’s other three sons who live in the US will join Vacharaesorn. They are: Juthavachara, Chakriwat, and Vatchrawee.2 points

From Thai PBS World The Immigration Bureau has revoked the visa of the Swiss national who allegedly kicked a female Thai doctor, who sat on the staircase of his rented villa on Yamu Beach in Chalong district of Phuket last week. An urgent letter, signed by Deputy Governor Sattha Thongkham in his capacity as the acting governor, was sent to immigration officials recommending the revocation, claiming that he posed a threat to society who may be a danger to the people of Phuket. Pol Col Prinya Klinkaesorn, deputy spokesman for the Immigration Bureau, told the media today that Pol Maj-Gen Songplod Sirisukha, commander of the First Division of the Immigration Bureau, signed an order on Wednesday night revoking the visa of Urs Beat Fehr, managing director of Elephant Sanctuary Park Company in Phuket, with immediate effect. He said Phuket immigration officials will inform the Swiss national of the revocation of his visa and detain him at the immigration detention facility in Phuket, pending his trial on the assault charge. He added that the suspect has the right to apply for bail to defend the case in court.2 points

First Trip Report: Bangkok September 2023
revengeboo reacted to CallMeLee for a topic
I have been a reader of this forum for many years and have benefited greatly from such rich information from active posters - My holidays to Europe, South America and Asia particularly Thailand have been fun and extra spicy because of info generously shared here. Now I feel compelled to share my recent Thailand experience to hopefully help out and keep the info following. Please note that English is my second language and I would like to apologise in advance for any grammatical and other errors. Please be kind to me ❤️ I spent 12 glorious days in Bangkok but I will only be writing about days with spicy bits so as not to bore you people with my other vanilla shenanigans. Day 1 Arrived at Suvarnabhumi mid morning and immigration lines are flowing smoothly. Quite pleased that they no longer require those arrival cards. I always feel paranoid losing that other half you need to show upon departure. After sorting out Sim card and mobile, I marched straight to the designated airport pick up spot as per email sent by the klook app. Pick-up was efficient and after a couple of minutes, I am already in the middle of Bangkok traffic giddily planning what and where to go next. Check-in with air bnb was straightforward. Maybe because its low season, they allowed early check-in. I'm a bit wary with air bnb's legal status in Thailand. However, I am working remotely and hotel wifi is highly unreliable from experience. After checking-in, I decided to give the classics a try so off to Arena I go. My trifecta used to be Arena, Prince and Hero - still wishing Hero will be back! While walking towards Silom Plaza, I can't help but notice how much cannabis shops have setup and mushroomed everywhere! Not my scene but it was surprising how the number quickly grew since I visited last year. As I enter Arena, things flow like clockwork, The Uncle will ask you to sit by the couch, show you that Dogeared rate sheet and will try to sell you the most expensive package. Why do I have to pay 300thb more just for a different type of oil? I would rather use that to tip my man of the day and get better outcome later. While this is happening, them masseurs will assemble in front trying to get your attention. I always tell myself to calm down and take my time but I always feel low-key flustered with the attention which forces me to hastily make my selection. I chose this cute guy with a toned built. He introduced himself as Tom. He then asked me to shower and he stepped out of the room. I was quite disappointed that he didn't join. He returned with his massage stuff and took a shower before starting the massage. The massage itself was uneventful. It's that usual routine where they seem to focus on your leg area. I was starting to get bored and started yawning (so tired from my 13hr flight) and I think Tom took it as a cue to start the more interesting phase. He compensated well on his lack of massage skills and was quite surprised when he initiated a kiss. His body to body massage is quite good together with other things that comes with it. He then asked if I can make him cum which I gladly obliged. I must say it must be his first one for the day! I left Arena quite satisfied and decided to walk through Surawong to plan what tonight will hold. Had a quick bite at Foodland and took a taxi back to my place for a quick nap. Waking up refreshed, I made my way to Hotmale. I must've arrived too early and the selection that night looks not that promising. I made a mental note to give it another chance and visit it again later. I then went inside screwboys purely out of curiosity. The place was smaller and that night seemed to attract a lot of smokers. I'm not a delicate person but I really struggle with cigarette smoke. There's quite a number of potential offs but I am not in the mood tonight for reason I don't know. I made my way out and had a good yarn with one cute waiter from Laos. We exchanged Line which led to a number of proposals later to meet and be his boyfriend! Decided to call it a night and grab a coffee from Starbucks while waiting for my taxi. Starbucks is now open 24 hours compared to closing at around 8pm last year. Sign that things are indeed normalising? Overall, first night feels like a success even if i am going home alone. My session in Arena I guess is enough to cap off my night.1 point -

I visited Bendito Carbon with high expectations but found myself underwhelmed. This might be attributed to the fact that their famed "strip shows" are infrequent, occurring monthly or only during pre-announced events. I went based on a promoter on Grindr who showed titillating images and videos of what to expect, but that was not the case the night I showed up. I think it is the same place I called Yei-Yei Bar in the trip report above. It seems like Bendito Cabron is a "night" in that space. But unclear why the Grindr promoter was marketing it that night I showed up. This entire bar/club could also just be a bait-and-switch nightmare, considering it is hard to really pin down what its name is, and a quick Google search comes up with a variety of names, all with low ratings. It would be a good venue for some scandalous strippers because it is a bit more intimate and dark and not as loud and cavernous the Premier space.1 point -

You seem to forget that Japan was also pursuing nuclear weapons development programs. There was little doubt that Japan would have deployed a nuclear weapon if it had succeeded before the U.S. The Japanese military invested in various efforts to research the potential technology, and created technology for uranium enrichment (including several cyclotrons and a thermal diffusion device). Japan developed the first cyclotron outside the U.S. in 1937 and its second (pictured below) in 1943. Russian physicist Georgy Flyorov suspected that the Allied powers had secretly been developing a "superweapon" and wrote a letter to Stalin urging him to start such a program in 1942. Initial efforts were slowed due to the German invasion of the Soviet Union and remained largely composed of the intelligence gathering from the Soviet spy rings working in the U.S. Manhattan Project. (From Wikipedia). Does anyone really doubt that Stalin would have used it against Germany had Russia been able to develop it,1 point -

If you don't play the game, you'll never have a say in the game and you'll never get money for your district then not re-elected. You might even get Primary'd from your own party if you don't play ball. Bernie Sanders is 82, yet has more stamina/energy than me....I'm a Bernie Bro, need someone that isn't afraid to ruffle feathers and stand up to corporations and billionaires, he's the only one that fits that bill, as far as I know. GENEVA (Reuters) - A U.N. expert said on Thursday that Israel was destroying Gaza's food system as part of a broader "starvation campaign" in its war against Hamas militants. Aid officials have warned of looming famine five months into the campaign against the Islamist Palestinian group, while hospitals in the isolated northern part of the enclave say children have started dying from malnutrition. "Israel is not only denying and restricting the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Israel is destroying the food system in Gaza," Michael Fakhri, U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, said in a speech to the U.N. Human Rights Council.1 point -
From Pattaya Mail Police in southern province of Trang have detained a 60-year-old Swiss national, a retiree, Mr. Straumann Dietermatthias, who is alleged to have assaulted a Thai woman. Natchanan Kikkham, 58, filed a complaint with police on Tuesday March 5, claiming that the man had bumped into her and walked away while in a BigC department store in Muang District. The woman then asked the Swiss man to be respectful, only for him to walk back to her and allegedly assaulted by punching on her face multiple times. Witnesses said that the injured person went shopping in the mall. At the scene, there was an altercation with the foreigner that escalated to the point after the shopping carts collided. The injured person warned him to be careful and spoke politely, but the foreigner ignored the warning, punched the injured person four times, and then fled. The injured person then picked up a bottle of carbonated water in the shopping cart and threw it at the foreigner, but it did not hit. This time, the foreigner walked back, pushed the injured person down, used hands to push the head, pressed the knee on the neck, and then punched her about 20 times before walking away. The mall security had to chase and notify the police to apprehend the foreigner. According to the son, Krittapong, his mother suffered a broken nose, had serious wounds to her face, eyes and back. She was admitted to a hospital emergency room for treatment. The Swiss national, police said, refused to give statements. He is residing in Thailand, with a Thai wife, on a retirement visa which is due to expire this November, according to police. On March 6, at the Trang City Police Station, officers detained Mr. Straumann, who had been sitting in the reception room of the station since the previous night. He refused to speak to anyone other than an interpreter and declined to provide fingerprints or sign acknowledgment of any charges. The charges include causing harm to others resulting in danger to life and resisting the duties of an officer. The Trang City Police officers took Mr. Straumann to the Trang Provincial Court to request permission for his initial detention. However, there has been no contact from relatives, friends, or Mr. Straumann’s wife, particularly the latest wife who is known to have fled to Krabi province about a month ago following a domestic dispute. Since the incident, there has been no communication from either party. (TNA)1 point

Just for interest --- if you end up here in Bangkok and are really 'pissed off' with all the cretinous farang firing their giant water cannons, make your way to Silom Soi 4 (Sala Daeng skytrain exit 1?), which will be water free (security at the head of the soi to confiscate guns). These days are the busiest 3 days of the year in soi 4, it will be packed from 7ish till closing, continuously! My choice is Balcony Pub or Connections. They open for alcohol at 17:00 and are there, dry, till late. Oh, and forget stories that it all finishes (the water throwing, at 18:00 or 21:00). This is Thailand (T.I.T.) and rules are meant to be broken. Me? I'll be locked in my room, stocked with Leo Beer. Oh and another VERY important point ---- do not take money, jewellery, passports etc out with you. Pickpockets abound. Everywhere, you will see plastic pouches for sale (about 100 Baht) to keep dry any personal items needed to be kept dry. But they are not thief proof. Finally, have fun.1 point -
