    RIP Hinton Battle

https://playbill.com/article/three-time-tony-winner-hinton-battle-dies-at-67 Hinton Battle and I go way back. I was nearly a baby when I first met him during his Wiz years. We worked together on several projects through the years, and he was always generous with his introductions. I probably know more about him than I should. He was an intimate guest in my home on several occasions. I'm going to save most of what I know for my memoir. Details you won't find coming from Debbie Allen. Hinton was multi-talented, but he led a complicated life. He was guarded and secretive, which made it difficult to get and stay close. I hope and pray he has found peace.

    Trip Report (Jan 2024)

Phuket Bars Didn't go to any, next time! Massage 4 Massage: Only went here this trip but quite glad this place still exists, although they have moved just around the corner from where they previously were. I went with 3 different boys here, one of which I've been seeing since 2019 who is always good fun. He massaged my legs for probably 5 minutes before the main event started, but he always gives me a good time. Another who was messaging me on Grindr on my last trip to Phuket (2022) I finally got the chance to try, and he was very good and happily bottomed for me, and another boy who was relatively new was also quite good and bottomed for me also (requested an inflated tip which I just had to laugh at). I always have a good time here. Hotel Baan Paradise: Situated in one of the streets in the paradise complex, it was decent enough and close to all the action. I had a balcony room so was able to look out onto the street and watch the people go by. It is a pretty lively area with people coming and going, plenty of restaurants, bars and massage shops (for gays and straights), and it is only a short walk to the beach. Other Didn't do much else here, and although Phuket isn't one of my favourite destinations, I still feel drawn to it every once in a while. Maybe for the massage boys, who knows. It is quite a big island so I may try staying in a different area next time. The Phuket Smart Bus runs up and down the west coast from the airport down to Rawai and it is reasonably priced for 100 THB one way. Doesn't run super often though, maybe once an hour or twice in the busy periods. Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) A boy I met in Jomtien a few years ago went back home to Korat and asks me occasionally to come visit him so I thought I would considering I didn't have much else to do. I also wanted to try out the long distance trains, which were easy enough to book online, and very affordable. The train left from the new Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, which is absolutely massive but probably good forward planning for the future. I took a 2nd class aircon carriage which was comfortable enough. My hotel was less than a 10 minute walk from the train station, and after meeting the boy at Terminal 21, we later had a look around some of the attractions in the city as well as going to the tower back at Terminal 21 to look at the view over Korat. Boy stayed overnight, which was my only overnight this whole trip as I don't usually like long time. He also insisted on buying me dinner which I thought was sweet. I only gave myself one night here as I wanted to give myself an out incase things went pear shaped. Would I go back? Maybe, but it wouldn't be somewhere I would go regularly. I did see some farang there though. On the way back to Bangkok, I was in a 2nd class aircon carriage and this was the type with the open windows and also the back door was wide open as we went. I really enjoyed watching the scenery go by, and really interesting and exciting to see all the new structures for the train lines going up, which are massive and seemingly a little out of place in the countryside, but I think these are for the new high speed rail that is going to Laos and other places? I had a cute guy sit next to me for some of the trip, and I offered him some of my bread (which he declined), and later on struck up a short conversation with me before he got off at Saraburi. Final thoughts: I had a nice time and just kinda tried to pace myself since I was here for a while (and also not incredibly fit). I'm slowly building up my list of regulars which is good for future trips, and ate quite a lot of nice food. And same as always, I would often get mistaken for being Thai (which I take as a compliment), even in bars, and it's amusing when they talk to me in Thai and I just kinda look confused, or say something like 'kor tord na kap, English na kap'. I'll get around to learning Thai one day. My next trip may be in June/July, or December, or both. I'm not sure yet. But I do want to visit a few more places, like more islands. Thanks for reading!

  3. For many, participation on social media leads to isolation and less up-close-and-personal friendships and relationships. An unrealistic view of ourselves, and the world we live in. This is not just true for adolescents but adults, too ... judging by some discussions posted to various GG forums.

To each their own. I’m glad I don’t prefer the model types. There are many cute twinks in Pattaya that I pay average about 1,500 baht. My two offs from the go gos were ok, but they stress money and time, a real negative. The twinks in host bars aren’t expensive and take their time, for the most part. And plenty to be found.

  5. I think parenting also needs to consist of educating their children about the 'adult' world, at levels appropriate to the age and physical development. Too many have this idea that their kids should be kept innocent and ignorant until they're actually adults. The case above might have been prevented if the poor kid had felt able to get support from his parents instead of judgement and punishment. Parents must do better to create that level of trust and confidence. That said, the absolute sick scum that did this... just no words can express the rage.

  9. Easy to understand. For the gay guys who travel and participate on the forums ... it's not someplace we're very interested traveling to. 35+ years ago - before I was introduced to Thailand, and Brazil - I traveled to San Juan 5 or 6 times and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Not one of the guys I had sex with - and there were many - asked for money in exchange. Of course, I was younger and better looking than I am, now! There were some good gay bars with nude go-go boys, great beaches, etc. The owners of the St. Marks Baths in NYC had a gay baths in St. Juan which was a wild place (later taken over by one of the Chicago gay baths owners).

  12. In the 90's I was a frequent visitor to PR, Condado beach had a gay hotel, The Atlantico right on the water and a few hustler bars in the neighborhood. Lot's of great memories, no idea how the scene is these days..... Hotel has changed names https://www.hoteltryst.com/ doesn't look gay from their photos on their site.... The Latino Fan Club filmed a couple of their pornos there back in the day I think, or nearby. A google of Gay San Juan will give you some info, I'm sure. I remember it getting a little on the dangerous side about the time I stopped going.

  13. Yep, the entirety of the GOP -- and especially the MAGA Incels. They're so jealous of real people having real relationships. But do they complain about male celebrities who attend NFL and NBA games? No. Do they complain about any celebrities who make Republican political endorsements? No. Do they complain about Trump's own "friend"-ships with celebrities? No. Are they misogynistic? Do they hate everything that isn't MAGA? YES!

  14. I think it's quite fabulous that maga is going APE-SHIT over Taylor Swift. Utterly ape-shit. Their obnoxious behavior easily reveals their fear and insecurity about the upcoming election. Swift fans are FAR MORE DANGEROUS than Trump's limp-dicked maga-pussies, and her numbers truly are staggering FACT. The biggest laugh for me is when Trump-cunt Jeanine Piro publicly told (begged) Taylor Swift to "stay out of politics!" As if Taylor Swift gives a rat's ass what Jeanine Piro thinks or says. These maga culitists are OUT OF THEIR MIND. Totally deluded. Sadly, Grandpa Biden will need as much Gen Z help as he can muster, and Taylor Swift is the perfect advocate for supporting democracy. She doesn't need any more money, but I would happily pay her in exchange for her very vocal support. Politics is the last thing Gen Z thinks about, and in America, where "old" is a curse, Taylor could crack the whip, and teach these brain dead kids an important lesson on WISDOM and EXPERIENCE.

    Trip Report (Jan 2024)

Pattaya Hotel My main criteria for a hotel here was that it had a balcony with an ocean view. I had originally wanted to stay at Baywalk Residence in one of their suites which had an ocean view, however the pricing was on par to the Hilton and I didn't want to pay those prices, especially in Pattaya. I ended up finding the Hermann Hotel which was much cheaper and had the ocean view (well, half ocean view, which was sufficient) and balcony I was after. It's only a short 10 minute walk to BoysTown. The room is big and well-appointed, and reasonably priced. Only drawback was a couple of times early in the morning (maybe like 5am) I could hear a Thai lady yelling in the corridor. Bar Only managed to get to X-boys, and it was quite good. There wasn't a huge rotation, but the show was quite good, very varied and at times hilarious. Later on, towards the end, the show boys were just dancing on stage with their dicks flopping about, mostly condomless if I remember correctly. Didn't off anyone on this occasion. Massage Paradise: Had a great time with a boy here. I'm versatile but was in the mood for topping that day so I asked the boy who greeted me who can bottom, and he said all boys here can, so I ended up just going with him. I still ended up bottoming though?? Go figure.. Relax: Started with a foot massage before deciding if I wanted more, the foot massage was good so I decided to go for an oil massage. Had a good time with the boy, I just wanted light fun only that day, but I think more could be on the cards as he tried to stick it in at one point. Transport Rather than use the cheaper bus from Suvarnabhumi that drops you to Jomtien bus station, I booked Bell Travel Service online in advance. A little more expensive (325 THB), still leaves from Suvarnabhumi but once you get to North Pattaya bus station, you are transferred to a mini bus which drops you to your hotel (and then vice versa on the way back). The bus itself was comfortable and in a 1-2 seating configuration. Other They are currently ripping up the sidewalk on the non-beach side of Beach Road, so that can be a bit chaotic as you can imagine. To be continued...

  17. From the BBC nspired by a trailblazing transgender model, Malta has become one of the most accepting countries in the world in the past 20 years. It was a sweltering afternoon at Balluta Bay sometime in the late 1990s. Eager young journalist Ramona Depares was celebrating her first job at a local magazine at the City of London, one of Malta's oldest seafront bars, when a woman walked in. "Everyone stopped talking, openly staring," Depares said. "I remember she was wearing her iconic, massive black hat and a slinky black pantsuit – this was midweek, mid-afternoon, when everyone else was in flip flops. But it wasn't only about her clothes, it was her aura. She behaved like royalty. It was difficult not to be entranced." This mysterious figure was international Maltese model and trans pioneer Katya Saunders, known to friends as Kaka. As Depares would soon learn, Saunders' life was as compelling as her glamorous career: in the 1970s, she moved to London and transitioned; while in the 1980s she was pictured in Vogue on the arm of Karl Lagerfeld, did photoshoots in New York and modelled for fashion designers Charles & Ron, who still own a store in the Maltese capital Valletta. Rumour had it she'd even hung out with David Bowie and Mick Jagger. After an introduction, Depares and Saunders started chatting. "I asked whether she would give me an interview," said Depares. "And for years she played cat and mouse with me for this blessed interview, despite bumping into her at parties or fashion shows. She said she'd prefer to have her memoirs published instead." Eventually Saunders disappeared from public life, having "fallen upon hard times", as Depares put it. Fast-forward to 2019 and the journalist was in the Times of Malta's office when news of her death broke. "I wrote her tribute thinking, well, at least she'd be happy to know that her death made waves across the Maltese media." Depares pictured her "giggling away, enjoying the commotion that she was once again causing". Since then, Saunders' trailblazing life as one of Malta's first openly transgender public personas has been reappraised on an island that's seen remarkable changes in the last two decades. One of only five nations in the world to have made LGBTQ+ rights equal at a constitutional level, it has held first place for eight years on the ILGA-Europe Rainbow Index, which ranks countries on LGBTQ+ equality. After first visiting Valletta's hilly streets half a decade ago, I've been intrigued by this tiny island nation's unlikely rise as one of the world's most tolerant places. To examine how this happened, let's start by rewinding to the years after Saunders' birth in 1957. In 1964, Malta achieved independence after more than 150 years of British rule. The Brits had criminalised male same-sex relations, but as a republic, Malta legalised same-sex activity in 1973, with an age of consent of 16, equal to heterosexual sex. In 2001, the creation of the lobbying group Malta Gay Rights Movement (MGRM) helped usher in Malta's inaugural Pride March in 2004, as well as a national gay helpline. The pace quickened in the next decade: Malta was the first country in the EU to ban conversion therapy in 2016, when same-sex marriage was also passed, and the first European state to add gender identity to its constitution as a protected category. What was Malta's first Pride March like 20 years ago? "Not a big affair," said MGRM's Joe Grima. "It attracted between 50 and 100 people, whereas by [2023's] EuroPride, 38,000 attended the march and concert headlined by Christina Aguilera. We could celebrate how far we came. The laws that safeguard equal rights are now a normal aspect of everyday life in Malta." These laws were not in place for young Saunders or for other LGBTQ+ people of her era, however. As a result, the MGRM and Malta Council decided to celebrate her legacy by commissioning Depares to write the book Katya: Easy on the Tonic (a nod to Saunders' favourite catchphrase), and curating exhibitions featuring her clothes, portraits and accessories at galleries in Valletta, including one at Valletta's historic cultural hub Spazju Kreattiv (view the online archive here). Malta has ranked first on the ILGA-Europe Rainbow Index for eight years (Credit: Imago/Alamy) Continues at https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20240130-malta-the-tiny-european-island-of-tolerance

    Trip Report (Jan 2024)

This recent trip was the longest I've stayed in Thailand (nearly a month) and was enjoyable despite some random health issues that decided to pop up. Rather than a day by day account, I'll just outline some interesting points. Bangkok Bars Dreamboys: I went here a few times, mainly to see my favourite boy and managed to off him just once. I think he is popular because on another two occasions I visited the bar, he was already booked by a customer. I felt as though the quality has dropped since last time, but there are still some gems. Screwboys: I was surprised by the high quality here actually, and there were lots of good choices to my taste. I had a short list of two, and it so happened to turn out that they are brothers (and Vietnamese). Took the older one first, and his English skills were really good and he was quite charismatic. The following night I went with the younger brother. Both were satisfactory, nothing earth shattering but an enjoyable time nonetheless. Mamasan was helpful and wrote down the badge numbers of boys that could do my requests. Freshboys: Didn't off anyone here, rather just watched the show and had a drink. I liked the choices here though, lots of toned twinks. Tawan: Just went here for the show as the boys here are much too big for me. Really relaxed atmosphere (although packed in like sardines), and the most x-rated show with a fucking show and jerk-off show amongst others. There were a couple of smaller looking guys in the rotation that would have been suitable for me, as well as the waiter. Banana bar: The majority of the show is katoeys, but they are the most stunning I've seen in all of the bars. The boys don't get much stage time, but I did spot one that I had offed previously when he used to work at Freshboys so we had a drink together. Smoking is allowed in this bar so you will smell like an ashtray when you leave. Moonlight: Went mainly for the show, which is very tame these days. Lots of good options in the rotation though, plus there are the models. Hotmale: A good line up here, and a good show (with very nice dicks). I went back with a Cambodian guy and he was lots of fun. Jupiter: Firstly, very impressed with the quality here. All model material and I could have easily gone with any of them. Mamasan told me the off fee and expected tip for boy, which he said 3000 for short time which I thought was a little on the higher side but maybe because they are models, the higher tip was expected. Or inflation. I ended up going with a nice Cambodian boy, sex was pleasant (but not earth shattering), and afterwards when I gave him 3000 he asked 'is that all?' I was confused, so then he said his rate was 5000. I was dumbfounded. To avoid any conflict I offered 4000 which he accepted. Note to myself for future, to always ask the boy what his tip expectations are, even if you know what the market price is. Kinda left a sour taste in my mouth, but this doesn't reflect so much on the bar itself. You live and you learn, and I'll put it down as an expensive mistake. Sol: The only bar I didn't manage to get to, but there is always next time. Massage Prime: I went here quite a few times, as I always do, and it's always high quality and run like a well-oiled machine. Advance bookings are required, although I think they are getting a little quieter now that high season is slowing down a bit. Jey Spa: My first time here. I booked in advance a boy who I had been admiring for quite some time, and I was really happy I finally met him. Exceeded my expectations too. Facilities are quite nice, and they are very responsive on Line. Senso: Only my second time here. The boy that I had last time was on vacation, so I chose another who was smiling and waving at me. He was a lot of fun and definitely worth a repeat when I come back. Kman: Last trip I had an excellent time here, so ended up booking the same boy and had an excellent time again. Prices here are much cheaper, but I tip generously. Hotels Quarter Silom: Good location. The rooms are a little small but well-presented, and with some interesting lighting controls. Rooms are not sound proofed, so you will hear everything. This hotel attracts I think mostly gay clientele, and there is lots of eye candy. Crowne Plaza: Probably my most favourite hotel in the area, but it does come with a hefty price tag. Very quiet, and very guest friendly. I came in late one night with boy in tow, and a manager-like person even pressed the elevator button for us. Le Siam: It's decent, and I did like staying on the other side of Silom Road for once. There are heaps of food options on Convent road which was great. Room size was okay and it is a little dated, but the price point was appropriate. Other things of note I finally met the esteemed @vinapu in person! My first forum member I have met, and we had lunch at Happy Beer Garden, whilst having pleasant conversation. Nice to meet you! To be continued...

  19. Looks like the monkey in the pic is using one of Stinky’s new grifts: the genuine MAGA Roadkill Poking Stick. Stinky has finally accepted that his inherited dementia is only getting worse. He needs to make some big bucks quickly before he goes completely nuts. So, he’s selling the MAGA Roadkill Poking Stick. When he soon kicks the bucket and his body lies in state, visitors can use the MAGA Roadkill Poking Stick to poke his gelatinous body just to make sure he’s really dead. It’s about 6 feet long, so it’s long enough to easily poke roadkill but not be so close to the stink.

As mentioned up thread, there's not a lot to do in Negombo. It's easy to arrange a car and driver for a private tour around the island. I have a couple of friends who are guides. I spent about two weeks on my first trip and was going to spend the same on my second trip before I had to leave in a hurry due to covid. If you send them your time frame, interests and budget they could come up with an itinerary. There are lots of great national parks if you like nature and animals. Or plenty of historic sites if you like that. As for "rustic" hotels, there are many upscale hotels around, but for a couple of nights I can deal with pretty much any sort of place. I have not been to Gomez Place, but from the photos it looks more "basic" than "rustic" to me.

  28. The W Hotel offers a more vibrant party atmosphere compared to Le Meridien, particularly with its superior pool area and lobby bar. However, Le Meridien boasts a more advantageous location for those seeking easy access to massage services and bars. In contrast, the W Hotel has a slightly better location in terms of proximity to the BTS public transport system. While the W excels in ambiance, Le Meridien's executive lounge provides a pleasant setting for evening drinks, complemented by excellent staff service. Both hotels, however, are comparable in offering great buffet breakfasts.

    A few thoughts

Just a few thoughts on my recent trip to. Bangkok. I found Grindr more than enough for sexual requirements! Maybe I was lucky, all the guys were as their photos, and description, and all performed well. So, I didn't really try the go go bars. Hotmale was too loud, and too cold. Dreamboy and Sol, boys mostly too old, I like twinks. Freshboys ok, Screwboys a disappointment, as too many clothes! Tried the Hotmale bar, downstairs, but I was unlucky, too much screaming the time I was there. Soi 4 was fun, Banana bar quite lively. As mentioned in another post, didn't find any sexy masseurs in Soi 6, but I probably tried the wrong time. My old sexy encounter at Green Massage had disappeared. Food at Gs still good. I had no trouble at Swampy, the fast track, now VIP lane, once I found it, was good, both in and out. Looking forward to being back in March. Must get to Tawan next time!

    A few thoughts

Regarding Tawan, I leave what ichigo--and Vinapu before him--has written about the prominent chuck wow shows. "Cute" is so subjective a descriptor, I'm confident that the Tawan participants are considered attractive by its consumers. When it comes to "inspecting the goods," it's been my experience that it can be done discreetly at Banana and any of the Patpong bars if the guy is sitting beside you. Can't comment on Jupiter or Moonlight but nothing would shock me. 🙂 I was referring to the delight of removing them back in your room.

Is it 🙄 When he said, that's all... I would've said yes, talk to your mamasan. A massage guy from paradise tried that in Pattaya, I said I'll walk back and we can talk to your boss together if you want to clear this up. One of my biggest peeves in Thailand, wanting more than agreed to when many of the times doing less than agreed to. Is why I stayed away from the gogo's this trip, the ones I did go to was just a waste of money for overpriced drinks and stupid boy drink/off policies. Nice report btw, I had every intention of heading to other massage places further out, but deep down knew I wouldn't , lol

  40. Flew Singapore airlines flight from New York- Singapore, used miles for Business class- was a bucket list item- Longest flight in the world, solid 19hrs. I liked it better than dividing the trip in Tokyo, got way more sleep and then a 1:45 flight from Singapore to BKK instead of a 6-7 hr flight from Narita. Went to VIP immigration section upon arrival, was kind of full, I followed a Thai guy that just snaked his way in between everyone with kids, they were too busy taking care of the kids, that we went unnoticed. My bag was 1st one out and found Mike Taxi right away and off to Pattaya we went. Staying at the Ambiance, booked this a few months ago and got 5 nights in a king superior room for $97 usd....comfortable beds, nice towels and sheets, convenient to everything and the receptionists all know me.... Took awhile to defrost the frozen mini fridge, so lost whatever time gained in BKK, ADD about certain things 🙄 Walked around, stopped by Paradise massage and a few of the guys caught my attention....the one that spoke English, wasn't the best looking, but had something about him that attracted me to him, I asked him for a sample of his massage and it was really good....I told him maybe tomorrow, and went to Dreamboys to see a few guys I know to check on them. With the price quoted at Paradise, all in...seemed like a better deal than the go-go bars, so I asked the guy that since it was almost closing time, if he'd come to my hotel, obviously he said yes, he hadn't had a client in 2 days....( he's not THAT ugly). Did EVERYTHING that I asked, only didn't give me the full hr massage that he promised, so I explained to him that's how to lose repeat business, over stupid shit. He promised to make it up to me if we go again, let's see...I'd go with him again. Grindr is very active...it's 5 am, I'm ready to sleep....tomorrow my plan is Jomtien about 2pm for manicure/massage on the beach then try Sansuk about 5-6pm and maybe another round with the Paradise sauna guy, or someone else from there. Since I'm not very good with trip reports, I'm going to try to report a little every day....see how that goes. Pic is of the Singapore seat made into a bed, other than Gulf Airlines first class....I think this is the best bed for flights to Asia.

  44. From CNN Traveling through one of the world’s best airports is set to get even smoother next year. Starting in 2024, officials say Singapore’s Changi Airport will introduce automated immigration clearance, which will allow passengers to depart the city-state without passports, using only biometric data. “Singapore will be one of the first few countries in the world to introduce automated, passport-free immigration clearance,” Communications Minister Josephine Teo announced during a parliament session on Monday, during which several changes to the country’s Immigration Act were passed. Biometric technology, along with facial recognition software, is already in use to some extent in Changi Airport at automated lanes at immigration checkpoints. But the upcoming changes will “reduce the need for passengers to repeatedly present their travel documents at touch points and allow for more seamless and convenient processing,” Teo said.
