From CNBC Hidden cameras are being found in hotel rooms, house rentals, cruise ships, and even airplane bathrooms, leaving many travelers to wonder: “Could a hidden camera be watching me?” Spycams, as they’re called, are getting smaller, harder to find and easier to buy. From alarm clocks to air fresheners, water bottles and toothbrush holders, cameras come embedded in common household items that seamlessly blend with home decor. They can be purchased in shops or online, and through retailers like Amazon and Walmart. And rather than having to retrieve the camera to obtain the recording, owners can stream live images straight to their phones, said Pieter Tjia, CEO of the Singapore-based tech services company OMG Solutions. Even worse, voyeurs can sell the footage to porn sites, where it can be viewed thousands of times. It’s no wonder why websites, from YouTube to TikTok, are filled with videos of people recommending simple ways to find hidden cameras. But do these suggestions work? To find out, Tjia and his team hid 27 cameras in a home, and then provided CNBC with commonly recommended devices to find them. In total, CNBC conducted five rounds of tests to see which method was the most effective. Continues with video https://www.cnbc.com/2024/01/22/how-to-find-a-hidden-camera-in-a-hotel-room-or-house-we-tested-5-ways-.html3 points

No. Pointing out problems isn't solving them. Do you recall trump's healthcare plan? He claimed to have a plan (he had to keep it secret for some reason) that would cover more people, would be cheaper and provide broader coverage. Once elected,we found he never had a plan. His response was "Nobody knew healthcare could be so difficult."3 points

Looking back to the Thailand of 20 year ago or 20 years into the future isn't going to help you appreciate what it offers today, especially if you dwell on the misery you perceive in others. Loneliness is endemic for most older men. Health and financial issues weigh heavily. I'm certainly in that age group. I travel to Thailand as often as I can because it renews my spirits and my outlook. Without it I fear I might too succumb to misery. Instead of rejecting the miserable, try smiling toward them. Who knows when some day any one of us may find ourselves in similar straits.3 points

I'm not sure why you feel the need to chime in on subjects in which you're completely ignorant. Almost all of your statements are the opposite of the truth. First of all, Americans are essentially all covered by unemployment insurance. It usually pays for about a year, sometimes longer. Secondly, while it used to be the case that losing a job could cause you to lose your health insurance and lead a person to poverty, this changed during the time both houses of Congress were controlled by Democrats, who passed the Affordable Care Act, which was signed by Obama (and opposed by Republicans). Due to the ACA, those with low income get cost-free health insurance. Those with somewhat low to moderate incomes get their health insurance coverage subsidized by the government. Health insurance companies can no longer deny coverage or raise rates due to pre-existing conditions, as was the case when Republicans were in control. It's now illegal in the US not to have health insurance. At income tax time, any person who's refused to buy health insurance will simply be fined an equal amount to what he would have paid for basic health care coverage (what's called here bronze coverage). A form from the insurance company must be filed with one's income tax. Absolutely opposite to what you suggest, Trump and the Republican platform have actually called for the repeal of the ACA. Also, Trump promised to stop the war in Afghanistan but failed to do so. It was Biden who got the US out (admittedly, rather awkwardly). Again, the opposite of what you suggest. Your statement regarding "crime rate thru the roof" (sic) is also the opposite of the truth. Crime rates overall have been falling, certainly not rising, much less "thru the roof" as you claimed: As Abraham Lincoln is quoted:3 points -
Pita returns as MP as charter court rules iTV not media since 2007
splinter1949 and 2 others reacted to reader for a topic
From The Nation The Constitutional Court on Wednesday reinstated Pita Limjaroenrat as Move Forward Party MP after it ruled that iTV Plc had not been a media firm since March 7, 2007. The Office of the Constitutional Court announced that the majority of judges had dismissed the request of the Election Commission to disqualify Pita as an MP under Article 101 of the Constitution for holding shares in a media firm. Eight of the nine judges voted in favour of Pita. Only one judge, Nakarin Mektrairat, voted against Pita. The EC alleged that Pita applied to run in the May 14 general election although he held shares in iTV, a media firm, which is prohibited under the charter. The court ruled that although iTV had been a media firm under a contract with the secretariat of the PM’s Office since 1995, the secretariat had cancelled the contract on March 7, 2007. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/politics/400349763 points -

On my first visit to Thailand, I was 38. On my last visit, I am 76. My stamina was reduced, as was my libido, but I still had a great time in Bangkok. It was my first visit to Taipei and I liked it okay, especially the area round their skyscraper Taipei 101. I was shown so much respect. In both places. people volunteered their seats to me- yes, I look old!. It happened many times. And I went to massage parlors where I was treated with great respect and even admiration. Yes, the guys paid attention to my old body, but rather than criticize or avoid, I received admiration for my current shape and accolades for what they could see of my years of body building. I do look fit for a man my age,, having lost 50 pounds in the last two years. In Brazil in September at a sauna, a boy said to me with seemingly great sincerity "You are so handsome!" I immediately laughed, but in retrospect, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.3 points

Flew Singapore airlines flight from New York- Singapore, used miles for Business class- was a bucket list item- Longest flight in the world, solid 19hrs. I liked it better than dividing the trip in Tokyo, got way more sleep and then a 1:45 flight from Singapore to BKK instead of a 6-7 hr flight from Narita. Went to VIP immigration section upon arrival, was kind of full, I followed a Thai guy that just snaked his way in between everyone with kids, they were too busy taking care of the kids, that we went unnoticed. My bag was 1st one out and found Mike Taxi right away and off to Pattaya we went. Staying at the Ambiance, booked this a few months ago and got 5 nights in a king superior room for $97 usd....comfortable beds, nice towels and sheets, convenient to everything and the receptionists all know me.... Took awhile to defrost the frozen mini fridge, so lost whatever time gained in BKK, ADD about certain things 🙄 Walked around, stopped by Paradise massage and a few of the guys caught my attention....the one that spoke English, wasn't the best looking, but had something about him that attracted me to him, I asked him for a sample of his massage and it was really good....I told him maybe tomorrow, and went to Dreamboys to see a few guys I know to check on them. With the price quoted at Paradise, all in...seemed like a better deal than the go-go bars, so I asked the guy that since it was almost closing time, if he'd come to my hotel, obviously he said yes, he hadn't had a client in 2 days....( he's not THAT ugly). Did EVERYTHING that I asked, only didn't give me the full hr massage that he promised, so I explained to him that's how to lose repeat business, over stupid shit. He promised to make it up to me if we go again, let's see...I'd go with him again. Grindr is very active...it's 5 am, I'm ready to sleep....tomorrow my plan is Jomtien about 2pm for manicure/massage on the beach then try Sansuk about 5-6pm and maybe another round with the Paradise sauna guy, or someone else from there. Since I'm not very good with trip reports, I'm going to try to report a little every day....see how that goes. Pic is of the Singapore seat made into a bed, other than Gulf Airlines first class....I think this is the best bed for flights to Asia.2 points -

Didn't do too much, decided to give my liver a break. Day 4, the Lao guy from Jomtien forgot his passport at my hotel the night before, so he came over for it and we went another round. I caught up on some stuff from US/Mexico, really messed my sleep up. Day 5, last night in Pattaya....another Liver rest day and the streets of Boystown seemed pretty calm/dead for being in season....went to Paradise Massage around the corner, tested 4 guys on their massage technique and took one to my room at Ambiance around the corner, they agreed for the same price...I prefer not only the comfort of my room, it's that when we're finished, I'm already home for the night.2 points -

Mateo_37 reacted to floridarob for a topic
I'm ready to go to sleep, so I better write this while I still remember what I did today, wasn't much, but details can get lost during sleep. Woke up about noon today, early for me. Ordered Thai food from a little hole in the wall, near Ambiance on Grab. $2usd delivered and I'd put the food against ANY thai restaurant I've been to. Went to Jomtien beach about 3pm, with the sole reason to get a manicure/pedicure.....a mamasan that used to work at Cupidol does amazing work and I get my change when I pay. Then she recommended a massage guy for a foor/leg massage...300 baht for 1 hr, he was decent and a good conversationalist. After the beach I headed to Sansuk sauna, was Sunday about 530pm and was quite busy. This is only my 2nd time there, my 1st time wasn't busy, however was mostly Asian guys, had fun. Last night, almost all foreigners, blah.....I did hook up with a Canadian Chinese guy, with a tiny dick....I knew how this was going to end....was like throwing a hot dog down a hallway. He couldn't stay hard, I didn't feel a thing, we both made excuses, I told him I lived in Brasil, he didn't get it, lmao. Headed to Nice Boys after there, with not that much cash. I had more in my room, but don't like going out with too much, in case it gets lost. The drunk guy that's usually obnoxious about asking to buy him drinks was either on the wagon or it was too early, but he's just as obnoxious sober. There were 3 guys I was interested in and could have gone with just about any of them, was interesting. One 20 yr old short guy, was def my type. He sat with a Japanese customer, they messed around a little and then customer left, without giving a tip, I was told 🙄 The lady mamasan advised against trying to go with him, she said he was new and too shy..... but did I listen, no!!! Since I was short on cash, they said I could pay the boy his off and his fee all at once, when I got to my hotel.....we never made it that far. Once we lft the bar, the kid wanted to take a moto taxi to Ambiance. I told him it's closeby and we could walk. His face looked like I just asked him to donate a kidney, lol He REFUSED to walk....good thing I hadn't paid the off yet. I went back in and explained what happened, none of the other boys could believe it and a few said "I'll walk with you". I was annoyed by this point, so I walked to my hotel for more cash. Went to Dreamboys to talk to a few people outside, they are always so friendly. Nothing was too intersting for me, so I walked by the same massage shop as last night. The more we got into details about where to do it in the shop or my room, seemed to be getting too complicated and I left, telling the guy from last night, we'll talk later. Then I went to the massage place on South Pattaya road, I think it's called Paradise? A couple of guys were outside and I acted like it was my 1st time in a place like that. Massage sample from 2 guys that I was choosing from...then I made my choice. Half way thru the massage, came the "do you want me to suck you?" question. He was super cute, for me, but I only wanted a chuck wow and he agrees. He pulled his pants down, great ass and a child sized penis, oh well....he was impressed with the size of my dick, which isn't saying much coming from him 😁 Finished and paid him 700 baht, which is what we agreed on, even though he asked for 1000, the Canadian Chinese guy was huge compared to him. I'll give him credit though, he followed instructions perfectly. I think I'll become more like @reader, at least if the sex isn't good, you have the chance of something of a massage. I'm sure I left a bunch of crap out, If I remember , I'll write about it, if it's worth it.1 point -

*Beginning in March 2020, the border patrol changed its methodology to include counts for both apprehensions and expulsions as "encounters". With Dementia Joe Biden's catch and release policy, none of those encountered at the border were expelled. They were processed, given a cell phone, a temporary ID, and promised all kinds of goodies which millions of homeless American citizens are not provided. Your graph proves my point. Illegal border crossing has TRIPLED under Dementia Joe Biden. And it has likely gone up exponentially in 2023. Joe Biden has thrown out the Welcome Mat to drug dealers, sex traffickers, terrorists, etc. Come to America. We welcome you with open arms. @floridarob's map location was clear enough. It's as he described - a single shop unit in a small road parallel to Second Road. The only difficulty some may have is his description of "green awning". Colour descriptions don't always work for those of us who are colour-blind. The restaurant that @thaiophilus indicated is a totally different one, on Second Road itself, known as "Pakboong loy fah" a.k.a. Flying Vegetables Restaurant. Do you ever respond positively to unsolicited telephone solicitations?
Ruthrieston reacted to unicorn for a topic
I would avoid donating to a cause based on a phone solicitation for a number of reasons, some related to personal benefit, the other to being a "good citizen." (1) Even if someone calls you claiming to be from a charity you've known, researched (i.e. you've determined they're rated 4 stars on Charity Navigator or whatever other criterion you use), and aligns with your principles, you still can't be sure they are who they say they are. Giving someone you didn't seek out your credit card information might lead to serious hanky-panky. (2) If you donate based on telephone solicitations, your telephone number will be sold to others as "someone who sometimes will send money based on a telephone solicitation." Therefore, even if you don't give your credit card information to the caller and just tell him "That sounds great. I'll go online and send your organization some money!", you will end up being bombarded by this and other organizations due to the possibility of being successful. In fact, variable ratio (VR) reinforcement is the most powerful form of reinforcement: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforcement#Intermittent_reinforcement_schedules The addictive nature of variable reinforcement is why gambling addiction can be so powerful Finally, (3) By a similar logic, donating based on telephone solicitation encourages the behavior to continue to annoy other people, most of whom don't like cold calls at random times. So even if you personally don't mind random solicitation calls, a positive response encourages behavior which annoys the majority of people who do mind such calls. When I'm ready to donate money, my approach is to look up my usual charities on charitynavigator.org to make sure they're still rated 4*, then go to the organization's website to donate. One of my favorite charities, International Rescue Committee went down to 3* in 2021/2022, primarily due to inefficiency in use of donations. I did call them to ask them if they were aware of the drop and why it occurred. Their response was that they decided not to let go of staff during the pandemic, so I was OK with that. I've noticed that, in fact, they've gone back up to 4*. I will occasionally donate to an organization which is not assessed or ranked 3* if they are doing something I strongly support, and no one else is doing, such as the Rainbow Railroad, which helps get members of the LGBT community out of hostile countries such as Uganda and Iran. https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/135660870 https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/4748969801 point -

I agree tipping should be agreed by both parties. A repeat usually means both party agrees that the tip given previously is acceptable. Some guys also knows their worth, same way we know whats the general asked. I have a range that im comfortable with, and it varies a bit depending on how much i like the guy. So if he quoted anything within the range, i rarely haggle. But subsequently, if after the session, i find that its not worth the tip given, i rarely repeat, or only repeat next trip, or once a trip or none at all. In short, unlikely to be my regular. I am very picky to begin with, so most of the time, the guy i chose already deserved the range im willing to give them. There are few exception here and there but generally, thats the case. Very rarely, there are guys who fail to deliver, or cut short on the deals. In this case, its always case to case basis. If i dont think ill take him again, ill try to reach agreement with him on the lowest he will take vs the highest ill pay him for the service already rendered. I.e, if agreement was LT until breakfast and he wanted to leave at 3, 4, 5 am, then most of the time, ST tip is generally accepted, given that the session usually start closer to 2am anyway. If i decided to give the guy another chance, I pay him full agreed price. But only if he show the effort to honor the deal next time. Some guys are just to hard to say no to lol.1 point
