Flew Singapore airlines flight from New York- Singapore, used miles for Business class- was a bucket list item- Longest flight in the world, solid 19hrs. I liked it better than dividing the trip in Tokyo, got way more sleep and then a 1:45 flight from Singapore to BKK instead of a 6-7 hr flight from Narita. Went to VIP immigration section upon arrival, was kind of full, I followed a Thai guy that just snaked his way in between everyone with kids, they were too busy taking care of the kids, that we went unnoticed. My bag was 1st one out and found Mike Taxi right away and off to Pattaya we went. Staying at the Ambiance, booked this a few months ago and got 5 nights in a king superior room for $97 usd....comfortable beds, nice towels and sheets, convenient to everything and the receptionists all know me.... Took awhile to defrost the frozen mini fridge, so lost whatever time gained in BKK, ADD about certain things 🙄 Walked around, stopped by Paradise massage and a few of the guys caught my attention....the one that spoke English, wasn't the best looking, but had something about him that attracted me to him, I asked him for a sample of his massage and it was really good....I told him maybe tomorrow, and went to Dreamboys to see a few guys I know to check on them. In Nov. 2020, when Trump was fired, the misery index was 7.9 - higher than when Trump took office. Today, the misery index is 7.0, lower than when Biden took office. So there was more misery when Trump ended than when he started. Which helps explain why he lost. And why cops had to be savagely attacked based on Trump's democracy-killing lies. Which created more misery. At least for the cops. And for democracy. There is less misery today than when Biden took office. That's a fact, if we want to use Reagan's argument correctly. So, again, Trump is actually the old Carter. He lost in 2020 because under him misery went up. Trump is a loser. That is just a fact.

What was described happens (though not all the time) in so many places. Street vending is common and the incident didn't sound aggressive. The occurrence with the boy I would find to be even charming, and even the homeless guy was a harmless human encounter. Recently noticed I hadn't received mileage credit for my last trip to bkk so called airline customer service. Since I was crediting miles to a partner account, they told me to contact that airline to initiate the process. Thought it was unusual work around but I followed through. The partner (AA) took my flights numbers and ticket number and said they would submit form to carrier (CX). Five days later received email from AA customer support, requesting copies of ticket receipt and boarding passes. I hadn't retained boarding passes for outbound flights but did manage to find my return boarding passes still in my carry on backpack. Sent those along today. Lesson learned: Don't dispose of those boarding passes until you've seen the miles on your account, especially when itinerary involves partner carriers.

I'm thinking about hitting Buenos Aires later this month. I've been three times before, however it's been a while since my last visit. I've done a search of all BA topics here going back to well before covid - many thanks to those who shared tips, that's helpful. My question is on accommodations. I will aim to stay in Recoleta, Alto Palermo, or Palermo Soho. There are plenty of Airbnbs available - what's the advice with regard to security? Is it safe to bring a guy back? If a building has security/concierge, would they be an obstacle to bringing a guest, or vice versa a help if a visitor can leave their ID card with them? I had a really nice experience on that in Medellin, for instance, where I stayed a couple of times in an Airbnb in Laureles and security guards were checking IDs of all my visitors while not complaining why I have two different visitors a day, every day. It also gave quite a feeling of security. Are things in Buenos Aires similar? In short, I'd be super-grateful for any advice of possibly tried and trusted apartments to stay (or hotels?). I'm too tech-lazy, but whenever someone starts a thread, add that Alcantara, a short boat ride from central Sao Luiz, is a colonial time capsule that hasn't been touristified yet but will surely be turned into an Olinda or Ouro Preto. Try to be in Sao Luiz for their Bumba Meu Boi festival, while Alcantara has its own festas juninas around the same time - Brazil has so much more in addition to carnaval. The southern Brazilians, though, look down upon the Caribbean poverty of the north, and much of colonial Sao Luiz is in need of restoration, so don't expect a glitzy St. Barths. The lencois are beautiful. They basically mean climbing up and down a lot of little hills so be ready. From the picture on Google Maps, that must be the same sauna I went to in 2011. It was dead then, kind of surprising during festival time, though I did have fun with a scruffy surfer. Glad to hear it's lively now.

Yeah, I need to write about Recife too - I was pleasantly surprised at the saunas last week. Lencois Maranhenses are soooo beautiful - but they are very much season-depending. You need to visit between July and October after the rainy season. I went in November I believe - and lakes were already very much waning. I caught the beauty of this, but not that majestic view we all know - sorta semi-majestic lol. I was told, by December no lakes would remain.

And it was actually not bad at all - I visited in 2018, 2019 and 2020, but I looked at their Instagram and other socials now, seems like nothing changed and they are going strong. The name is Go.61 - some socials have it as Sauna Go - it's in the historic center. Similar to Fortaleza, the strongest nights are Thursday and Sunday. They had shows, caipirinhas for some spare change, free cabins, nice suites, swimming pool and even bingo where all guys come to the promise of some money. Been there twice now and visited both museums, I did prefer The Thailand-Burma Railway Centre museum (just next to the cemetery), smaller than the one next to the bridge but more my liking. I am hoping to one day do the ANZAC day dawn service at Hell Fire Pass, maybe next year.

In general, without singling out any particular event or tactic, I think the answer is clearly YES. 49 % of Democrats now say the US does not support Palestinians enough. Only 14 % say we support Palestinians too much. Among Independents, 34 % say we support Palestinians too little, and 28 % say we support them too much. All these numbers are a big shift from when the bloodbath started. Although it probably has less to do with US political protests. And more to do with what people read about the the death toll of Palestinian women and children.

Well, fair enough, after a long day of getting stopped and harassed by everyone and their mother, and responding politely each time, I finally snapped. I don’t think it was as bad as I wrote it, no one bothered to look in my direction, the 4 waiters didn't react (at all) and even the table next to me remained unfazed. During my 8-day visit in Salvador Bahia, I went twice to Clube 11, once on Dec. 29th 2023, and once on Jan. 3rd 2024. My general impression is, Clube 11 is the more popular and better GP Sauna in Salvador.
