Don't be stingy

I recall a guy I took from Toyboys when I was a player on Pattaya scene. It must have been the early 2000s. After I'd paid him, he told me that he was going to dinner because he hadn't eaten for two days....business in Boyztown had been slow. A few minutes later, I left the hotel to go to 7 11 and there he was , sitting outside Toyboys with a large plate of food and some fruit. In those days, there were a number of food vendors in the area. He waved to me and pointed at the food, as if I could miss it. Sentimental old man I may be, but I was happy for him. Two or three years later, when the" Kamphaet Three" as I call them came to Pattaya, one of whom was P., I learnt that the guys on the scene took care of each other in times of hardship. If one of the Three had enjoyed a successful liaison (financially!), it was accepted that he'd buy dinner for all.... the reason was that the guys were living and existing from day to day. As an example of this, P didn't have enough money for the bus fare to see his beloved parents at Songkran, indeed hadn't seen them for a year. I cannot say if this is still true today but I suspect that that some guys are in difficulties. When I last walked through the Jomtien Complex in November there were barely fifteen falang punters. And many guys. Of course, there are the apps , so who knows? Nevertheless, I learnt from my relationship that what we can give can make a huge difference, whether it be a much-needed meal, or a bus ride home. And yes, OK, perhaps a pair of trainers of a much-valued brand....that too. So I'm with Olddaddy.6 points -

It seems now we have passed a generation to 2024 we have more guys who do sex work part time and have other jobs ,I even noticed this more with guys in Pattaya So these guys some who are straight are not as desperate as the ones 20 years ago so they need proper remuneration Some of you complain that you weny to a Go Go bars and saw guys in their 40's dancing etc like one recent post and complaining, So my point is ,sometimes I see stingy farangs on here saying how happy they were to pay 500 baht and complaining the 20yo twink who goes to uni part time wanted 1500b in Bangkok ,how dare he ! For fxcks sake , if you want hot young guys you need to pay ,they ain't coming for little money ,stop being stingy and complaining! This is a business , everyone has their price ,even Vinapu😂 Then you wonder why there is a shortage of young twinks3 points -

As much as I sympathize with the sentiment, as a former government employee and union member, I must note that government employees must be careful both of what they do during work hours, and of taking work actions while under contract/MOU. We did organize and protest the murder of George Floyd, but we did the protest during our non-work hours. Protesting during their non-work hours (such as during the week-end) should not be problematic. Our union leaders made it very clear that even such a minor action such as delaying submission of billing sheets could lead to suspension or termination. There are ways to make our voices heard without breaking the law.2 points -

A guy in their 40s can be very hot and sexy too. But what I saw wasn't exactly my cup of tea...and my main complaint was the guys were wearing too much clothes and they were not cute AND wearing Monkey Masks on stage...but that is my personal view. Others might find them hot. I do agree with this tho. If you want hot guys, u have to pay which I'm very willing to. But it is true that many of those visiting the bars are not generous with their tips.2 points

Hi Asian explorer. it is always nice to know a few words in the language of the country you are visiting but thanks to google translator you do not need to learn Portuguese. Few hints about São Paulo: 1) Where to stay? I would suggest near Avenida Paulista. It is close to Lagoa, safer than other neighborhoods, lots of daily attractions (museums, restaurants, bars, shops) 2) Saunas There are 2 main saunas with GPs (rent men): Lagoa and 555. Both are close to Paulista. Lagoa has more options, 555 tends to have fewer guys. 3) Massage places I need to visit the ones in Thailand, but form what I have read it is not the same thing. However, they ar a good option to meet guys. I would suggest: inhouse, Lotus and Gold. All of them have websites where you can select the masseur and send a WhatsApp to the place scheduling a session with the guy of your choice. When are you planning to visit?2 points -

Davet- I do think you have the right person. I know he asked 200 reais (maybe still above the usual rate?) at the time and I didn’t find him to be stuck-up at all. He did make it clear he wanted out of the sauna scene but he was a very enthusiastic and passionate kisser (for me, a sign that a GP isn’t trying to perform as little as possible). His body was truly incredible and he really stood out for me at the sauna. Anyhow, I stayed connected with him and he did go to Europe. He ended up in London and advertises as Athos on RM. Rate is 200 pounds an hour so I guess 200 reais (or even 300) was a bargain!1 point

Well said. I think that most of us are aware that a lot of these boys lead a hand to mouth existence, and for the most part, the difference between, say, 1,000 baht and 1,500 is negligible. I appreciate the different view that Christian PFC has, but I would prefer to pay a realistic figure. I had a good time yesterday with a Lao guy, he came, I bred him, and I gave him 3,000. In London, where I am from, that would have been 9,000 and up, so I think it's a good deal, and he can go and eat.1 point -

Most Thailand massage managers use Line. Almost all of them can communicate with basic English. You can ask for the masseurs' pictures and book a session with them. Now most pallors don't have many in-house masseurs so you need to book in advance. Walk-in is doable but your choices will be very limited. I will check their websites. Thanks for sharing.1 point -

From my experience there is no need to pre-plan anything - there are a lot of guys available for free and a small fee on Grindr. Having said that, I've made a few contacts on x.com that I would like to meet when I am in Manila next. I've never used a massage service, but I find the guys on x and Grindr are more to my taste. When it comes to price I would always overpay, regardless of the agreed price. Even if you meet a young guy who isn't after money, a couple of thousand pesos can really help them out.1 point

How saving street dogs in Thailand helped this recovering addict save himself
Ruthrieston reacted to reader for a topic
From Canadian Broadcasting Corporation On the small Thai island of Koh Samui, Niall Harbison sets out every day to feed dozens and dozens of street dogs. Hearing the familiar sound of his moped, "they all come running out, wagging tails and they're delighted," said Harbison, author of Hope: How Street Dogs Taught Me the Meaning of Life. "They're like, 'Oh there's the little Irishman coming.'" Harbison's book details his efforts to feed, sterilize and rehome some of the 6,000 stray dogs on Koh Samui, a fraction of the estimated 1.6 million stray dogs in Thailand. Videos of the dogs he rescues from abuse and malnourishment have gained him more than a million followers online. But while he's been busily saving dogs, he says those dogs have also saved him. Harbison moved to Thailand in 2018 amid a deteriorating addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs. "There's a good chance I'd be dead, I'd say. I'm not even joking … I was addicted to Valium, and I was drinking three bottles of wine a day," he told The Current's Matt Galloway. Years before he moved to Thailand, Harbison was a private chef on the yacht of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, serving celebrity guests like Bono. In 2009, he pivoted to media and marketing, setting up and later selling two social media companies. Beneath that success, Harbison was dealing with depression and anxiety, and using alcohol to cope. His move to Koh Samui was partly in search of a healthier life, but by the end of 2020, he landed in the ICU after a heavy binge of alcohol and prescription drugs. Harbison lay in that hospital bed over New Year's Eve, convinced he was dying as he listened to the fireworks outside. "I just said, 'God, there has to be something more to life than what I lived, there has to be something that has some meaning,'" he said. After three days in hospital, Harbison was discharged in early January 2021 to recover at home. He spent the year rebuilding his health, and thinking about what is important to him in life. While out walking one day in early 2022, he stopped to feed some dogs in the jungle. He came back the next day to feed them again — and soon it was a daily ritual, feeding more and more dogs as weeks turned into months. From Pattaya News The Pattaya Entertainment Industry Association highly praised the Thai government’s policy of extending entertainment opening hours until 4 AM, citing its positive impact on the local economy, and urging further expansion of legal entertainment zones. The extended hours, officially implemented on December 15th, 2023, as part of a pilot program in five provinces, have garnered positive feedback from a large number of Pattaya business owners. According to Mr. Damrongkiat Phinijkarn, secretary-general of the Pattaya Entertainment Industry Association, most entertainment businesses reported a significant increase in daily income, ranging from 20-30%, since the longer hours were implemented. This success translates to benefits for employees as well. Mr. Damrongkiat revealed that service staff and waiters are seeing their daily earnings increase by 300-500 baht, translating to roughly 9,000-15,000 baht per month. This extra income has reduced their reliance on the government’s assistance programs and greatly improved the financial well-being of their families, Mr. Damrongkiat stated. “This policy is a game-changer for our nightlife community and the local economy as a whole,” said Mr. Damrongkiat. “We express our sincere gratitude to the government for listening to our pleas and implementing these measures.” However, the association also urges the government to consider expanding legal entertainment zones in Pattaya. They believe the current Entertainment Places Act, which has been in place for 21 years, is hindering the city’s development and limiting its potential. In response to public concerns surrounding the zone expansion, Mr. Damrongkiat stated that balancing the needs of entertainment venues with local residents with the concerns is crucial. He emphasized that operators must manage noise carefully to ensure minimal disruption to residents and non-nightlife tourists seeking a peaceful experience. Proposed areas for expansion of legal nightlife and entertainment zones are parts of Jomtien, especially around the popular gay nightlife area at Jomtien Complex and Soi 7 area, parts of Naklua around the Space Hotel, Third Road to Sukhumvit, and perhaps even parts of Eastern Pattaya.1 point

From Pattaya Mail By Jessataporn Bunnag, attorney at law Expats know, or should know, that making a Thai will is good practice and will ease your passing at any rate for those named as beneficiaries. We still see poorly drawn up wills which, for example, name two independent witnesses as beneficiaries or contain ambiguous wording or even omit the signature of the testator. Of course, the Thai court will acknowledge only a will in the Thai language, though it is common practice these days for an English translation to be included. But it is only the Thai version which can be assessed for probate. Photocopies of originals of relevant documents should be attached to the will. This may include house or condo ownership proof, the ID page of Thai bank accounts, registration papers of vehicles etc. For smaller items such as jewelry or house furniture and contents it may be useful to include a statement such “and all other items belonging to me and not mentioned above”, of course making clear who gets what. If the testator has assets in more than one country, it is highly desirable to make a separate will(s) for each jurisdiction. The executor, Thai or foreigner, must appear in person before the Thai judge assessing probate and may be asked questions about the deceased, such as the family tree. Normally in Thailand, the bulk of the assets will be inherited by next of kin or nearest and dearest. The will needs to spell out the reasoning if, for example, a son or daughter is excluded. In a recent case, a foreigner in his will did exclude his son, but attached paperwork to show that the younger man had received a large cash sum to open a business two years previously and had accepted this was his share of the inheritance. If there is still a problem, the probate judge may well invite the disputants to settle the issues but will make a unilateral decision if necessary. In serious cases, the probate will be reviewed by the appeal court (in Rayong for Pattaya area cases) and can only be referred to the supreme court in Bangkok if the appeal judges so agree. Appeals can be both expensive and time consuming, hence the all importance of writing a will in the first place which will stand close scrutiny. In summary, it’s best to remember that comprehensive and unambiguous documentation is the key to smooth passing in the world of wills.1 point

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that most of the GPs are straight though (which I would define as not interested in free sex with any other men, no matter how attractive and no matter the situation) Certainly a large contingent (and I think the advent of Viagra was useful to bump up the percentage) but my experiences don't lead me to estimate half. Among the "pure dick plays", those with a huge dick and little else, yes, I could see over 50%. But not the others. I would say that some, indeed most, enjoy sex with men to some extent (some, not as much as with women, true). And, I would say some, even most, enjoy sex with some clients, even if only a small minority of clients. Last tuesday a remarkably hot guy came into 117 (who I trailed because I wanted to have him first...) and to my shock (and I suppose horror) went to the client lockers (ive seen GPs at Lagoa with a locker in the client room, maybe overflow??) but I confirmed he was a client with that attendant guy (who btw is so much sweeter than that cranky tip-demanding ex-GP at 202) Later, when I was waiting for a room with a guy that Ive been with a few times before, I asked him if he had seen that superhot client. He said yeah, didn't you see me go upstairs with him? ( I hadn't) He made this sort of swooning look, clearly putting him in the category of the some who enjoy it with some clients some times... (As a footnote, while I am on the topic of superhot guys one sees in the sauna but who are not available for purchase, the receptionist at 202, who I guess is the owner's son, is so dreamy...)1 point -
I'd be very wary about buying second hand or "fake" branded computers if you're ever going to use it for accessing sensitive and important websites or info, like banking and other financial services. There is a strong possibility that these devices may come with spyware designed to capture your personal details and open you up to being scammed. It might be on there from the activities of the previous owner. Buy new & buy genuine would be my advice.1 point

Not being able to read and comprehend English is your fault, not his. I think all of us except you understood what @hairybearberlin meant by "after many years i travel to BKK." I'm going to guess that OP does not use English as his first langauge. Thus browsing through these forums looking for those nuggets of good advice is substantially harder work than it might be for others. Further it's useful for new threads to pop up to refresh the information. Does finding a post from 3 years ago describing a sauna have any relevence to how that sauna is today?1 point

First-timer: confused about how massages work
silverwolf76 reacted to macaroni21 for a topic
@newtobangkok123 in Thailand's massage parlours, whether it's a place primarily for legit massages or one primarily for erotic massages, the client makes two payments. The first is to the shop. The amount will be based on the their price list depending on the service you choose. You know that already. Some shops require you to pay before the session begins, other shops are happy to take payment (for the shop) after the session. The second payment is directly from you to the service provider. It is always made AFTER the session. Your chief question is how to know how much. First of all, not all massage places publish minimum tips. Some do, some don't. Legit massage places almost never publish minimum tips. Erotic massage places mostly do nowadays, or if they do not publish them publicly, the receptionist will whisper to you as you pay the shop's fee. Or, there will be something stated as a footnote on the menu card. Just be alert and pay attention. The rule of thumb is that any place with a stated minimum, however stated - whether publicly published, whispered or footnoted - you can assume to be an erotic massage place where the service provider expects that you would want a happy ending, or at least to get hard. So, to your question: Once I know the minimum tip, does this tip include the happy ending? the answer is Yes. Also, even if you decline the offer of a happy ending during the session, the minimum applies. That's simple enough However, regular visitors to massage parlours do not always pay just the minimum. The "how much" gets trickier. If it's a handjob, something like the minimum, plus a bit more (20%?) if you're orgasmically over the moon, will be fine. But if it was mediocre, just pay the minimum. More often than not, there is no discussion about handjobs; the service provider proceeds towards it, and you have to stop him if you do not want the session to go in that direction. If you're into plugging holes, you will probably be having a brief discussion in the room regarding who does what to whose hole, and in the course of that discussion, the service provider may mention a figure perhaps 25-50% higher than the previously stated minimum. Naturally, if you agree, that's the new minimum for your session. (If he quotes a new figure that is 75 - 100% above the pre-session minimum, I am likely to turn it down, as such a high mark-up probably indicates an unwillingness to go that route.) Whatever you've agreed, you can tip another 20-30% more above that new minimum if you're intoxicated with delight from his services (but they don't expect that). If for some reason, there is no discussion about any new minimum, then if he bottoms, you can still use the above percentages as a guide, i.e. anything from 25 - 50% above the minimum that was stated pre-session. If he tops. I think the pre-session minimum is still the reference level (but this is not an area I am familiar with). If it's a legit massage, my practice is to think in terms of maximum tip and then discount from there. If it was an excellent legit massage, I would apply the maximum, which would be an amount for the service provider that is the same quantum as what the shop charged for the session. However, if it was legit, but substandard, then I start discounting from the maximum. Example: I book a legit massage for 700 baht. If the guy delivers a very good massage, he gets 700 too. If not so good, then 600, or 500 and so on. What happens if, in what looks like a legit place, the service provider also delivers a handjob in the privacy of the room? If there was a discussion in the room, then all's clear. If no discussion, then I tend to tip some kind of industry average for handjob, which, in Bangkok (since you asked about Bangkok), may be in the 1000 - 1200 range. As with all conversations about appropriate tips, this post is going to get wild reactions from other members of the board. Some will say my ranges are too high and I am spoiling the market. More likely, others will pick up a megaphone and decry what a cheapskate I am. Without knowing who I am or which country I come from, they will say that (a) I come from a rich country, (b) I am perforce rich, and (c) I am a disgrace to humanity for failing to throw money around like Mansa Musa on his pilgrimage to Mecca. All I can say is that my rules of thumb have worked for the hundreds of massages I have had over decades, and no service provider has said - not to my face at least - I tip too little. I simply don't believe in bragging about my wealth (if any) by showing off. I was raised by parents who taught me that showing off is very crass.1 point -
