We all have own priorities but in my not so humble opinion no place in SE Asia and very few in the whole world are match to Siem Reap as far as travel is concerned.

During my 8-day visit in Salvador Bahia, I went twice to Clube 11, once on Dec. 29th 2023, and once on Jan. 3rd 2024. My general impression is, Clube 11 is the more popular and better GP Sauna in Salvador. I know other fellow travelers have a different take on this, and I benefited enormously reading from their experiences. I’m just here to share mine. Location: It’s quite close to Lapa metro station and easy to walk to. It’s a newly repaint blue building with some boys and gays hanging at the entrance. Siam Heritage Hotel -- I just stayed there on the tail end of last trip I booked a room for 2 with breakfast through Agoda. At cheek-in I was alone but was issued two keys, even through I was unaccompanied. I had no problem bringing in ST guests. However, if you bring a guest to breakfast, hotel will require that the guest register .And that can be the only guest you can register during your stay. (since I had booked room for 2, I was not charged any additional fee). On the desk of my room there was a notice that stated that any guest would be assessed a 900 baht fee. It was the same notice that was there about 15 years ago when I last stayed at this place. The rooms are well equipped with comfortable bed, excellent shower for 2 and quiet AC. Ask for a room in the bak that are more distant from noise of Surawong. Small pool and fitness center on top floor (9). ============== Montien Hotel -- Of the hotels mentioned above, I believe the only one with no-guest policy is the Montien. It has a new wing and draws mainly upscale Chinese and Thai-Chinese clientele. =============== Amara Hotel -- No problem at all with guests. Great rooftop pool with plenty of lounge chairs if that's important. Recommended.

I stayed at the quarter silom previously. It's near all the action and about 5 mins walk to saladaeng bts. The hotel is pretty new and the room was clean and comfortable. I booked a room with a bathtub so that is bigger than their usual rooms. They also have a good spread for breakfast and I could extend the check out time till 5pm by paying a reasonable fee. Only thing I didn't like was that the window is kinda small so the room could be a bit dark.

Hmm. Not sure it is a Thai logic issue. I think sometimes in wars defending forces take substantial damages and loss of lives but that nation will still celebrate and take pride in those defending forces -- despite the casualties and losses. N'est-ce pas? In any event, in this particular situation the Thais were the defenders. The French didn't get what they wanted. Within a couple of weeks the Franco-Thai War was over and the Thai annexation of territory from French Cambodia was confirmed. For the government at the time - a win. But I return to the main point that I think there are probably lots and lots of examples around the world where defending forces take substantial damages and they can still honor and celebrate the defenders in the battle. Not a particularly Thai thing.
