After L left, I went to Foodland Patpong for my late lunch. As fate would have it, a fellow forum member had just finished a massage at nearby Adam Massage at Soi 4. He came over to chat. I told him that I needed to get more Thai baht and he kindly walked me to X-One. It was my first time there. Very well thought of process of limiting the number of customers inside through ticket system. Rate offered was indeed better than the other money changers in Silom area. After that, we took a leisurely walk and ended up outside Queen Club aka previously New Twilight. Directly opposite it was Golden Cock! There were 3 guys inside and one of them recognised fellow forum member and they chatted about the relocation and how's business. After short chat and update, we continued walking and saw Super A. The lights were not on but we took a peek and saw that there were guys inside. Hooray for them! Glad that these two niche bars are still surviving. Fellow forum member and I then continued walking to soi 6 and we said hello to the many massage guys who recognised him. We then resumed our walk and we finally separated at Soi Patpong where he went to Silom Complex and I went to get beer for a blackjack party I was hosting at night.7 points

Day 5 (Saturday) - A tale of two Thais I had pleasure of meeting two very interesting young Thai guys - both in mid 20s. I got to know them through Grinder. They hit me up yesterday and I am only able to meet them today one in late morning and another in evening. One of them is a masseur at Olivia Massage. Shall call him O after his shop. English is very basic. He uses Google Translate when he messages me. But to be frank, during massage and sex, language does not matter. O is a cute twink. Very friendly and loves to kiss! Hardworking as well. Strong massage strokes. I had him come/cum (Lol!) to my hotel room for massage in day time so I had to pay an off fee to shop. O loved doing massage in hotel room. He took pictures and videos of city from window of room. After leaving, O sent me a message: "Let me know in advance when you want me to go your hotel. I can go before work or after work. I can also go during lunch break. You no need pay my shop." The other young Thai guy I met speaks fluent English. He even types all his messages in English. He is the epitome of the young modern educated Thai person. He has travelled to all of the major countries in Asia except China and he has even been to a number of European countries. He studied aircraft engineering and works at airport where he stays nearby. He is looking for an older boyfriend after some previous relationships. We talked about interests and personal life and I found him to be a remarkable young man. He came from a complicated family background and is currently out on his own. His name starts with L but to differentiate him, shall refer to him as L+. When I complimented him on his achievements at such a young age, he was on the verge of tears and hugged me tightly. I think not many people have given him positive affirmation in his life. I hope he finds the right guy for his boyfriend and happiness together. O and L+ are two Thai gay guys whom I will not forget and I suspect I will be keeping in touch with them for years to come. Most of the guys I got to know well during my trips to Bangkok are not Thai (and not gay!) They are mostly from Myanmar and Vietnam (due largely to their English proficiency). There are Laos and Cambodia guys I know as well but I need Google Translate when I meet them. Oh yes, report on night activities - I was at Screwboys after supper at Foodland Patpong with fellow forum member. But no.93 wasn't there. Hopefully he will turn up tomorrow.5 points -
At 9.30pm, I went off to pick up the guys for my blackjack party. I had been in contact with them individually via Line the past few days about the arrangements. I have known them for years and taken them off individually. Now it has become a tradition for me to meet them together. They were all ready for me to pick them up, starting at Banana Bar then Jupiter. Two down, another two to go at Freshboys. I told the first two to get some food from the stalls along Surawong Road while I went up to Freshboys to get the other two. Once our gang of five was complete, we crossed Surawong Road and headed to hotel. We passed by the big Christmas tree at hotel lobby and I asked one of the hotel staff to take a photo of us altogether. In hotel room, we had beer while we played blackjack with me being the dealer. No actual gambling. We used chips and at the end of the game, everyone counted their chips. I gave token cash prize to the guy who won the most. But he had to wear a silly T-shirt out!4 points

Hotmale Beer Bar downstairs was quiet at 9pm on a Sunday night. Just as I started to enjoy my drink while ogling the Sol Bar guys at the balcony, it started pouring! Everyone made a beeline for shelter. All the Sol Bar guys escaped into the bar. Thankfully the rain lasted only 10 minutes and life went back to normal.4 points

The Bangkok go-go bars in the 80s and 90s were certainly very different. On the other hand, the basic premise was always the same. Get the customer to buy drinks at inflated prices and then pay off fees to get as much cash from that as possible. I think I'm known on the forum as more skeptical than some as far as the future is concerned. Yes, more and more younger guys will be available to go to the bars in the future. The question for me is more how long will the government continue to tolerate them and permit them to operate. The elite and the army loathe the fact that Bangkok especially has the reputation as the sex capital of Asia. We saw the first major attempts to clamp down on the sex trade in the early 2000s with Thaksin's social order campaigns. SInce then the apps have been doing a good job at weaning some sex tourists away from the bars. So far, they have survived, although now very few Thai boys work in them - very unlike the 1980s and 90s. But we know the government can, if it wishes, make employment of boys from neighbouring countries even more difficult at the stroke of a pen! We know this is a socially conservative country. I suspect that those many millions who voted for Pita Limjaroenrat's party are like the elite in wishing to see the end of the "sex capital" description. But that is a very personal view. So generally my view is simple. The government will in future do what it can to drive sex bars off the streets. We have already seen what has happened in Chiang Mai which as a gay destination with gay venues is all but dead, whereas 20 years ago it had a large, thriving and fun gay scene. That may well result in just pushing the businesses underground and out of sight - rather like that which we know already exists for Thais and about which expats and tourists know nothing. Hopefully I am wrong.4 points

Day 6 (Sunday) - I had L the massage guy visit me in my hotel room again in afternoon. It's my 3rd massage with him - one in his shop and twice in hotel room. By now, he knows me intimately and vice versa. Advantage of having a regular. After session, L was wearing his pants and looking out the window when he suddenly pointed to a building. "Casino," he said, "Now close." I then asked him whether he gambled. He said no but he knew of friends who did and they told him about that particular gambling den. I had a deck of cards and poker chips in my luggage and I took them out to play a few rounds of blackjack with L. Then he asked me,"I show you Vietnam poker" and I said sure. Vietnam poker has a points system with 3 cards. While I was trying to get the hang of it, L suddenly realised that it's time for him to go back to massage shop. "It's ok. Next time I meet you. You teach me," I said.4 points

Well, if you were sitting or standing in Hoti Male beer bar last night, I think youād be hard pressed to say anything but a resounding ānoā. The crowdāstaff includedāwere a bit raucous, waiters were getting offed, customers were getting drunk, someone was celebrating a birthday,. The adjacent show bars were doing a respectable business and the atmosphere was festive. I can only speak of Bangkok, but the older crowd (of which I am one) doesnāt seem to have any problem ponying up the 2K off fees and booking massages at the two dozen plus shops in the area.4 points

Isn't that the same reason you see mostly foreigners working in certain industries like fast food, constructions, etc even in Western countries?! Owners prefer foreign workers with sometimes dubious work permits, so that they can pay them less, offer no benefits and have bigger control. If thy government cracks down on immigrants then those owners will have to offer more to attract the local boys if they want to stay in business. so I think that's because of economical reasons, instead of cultural ones. I'm sure there are plenty of local boys working as freelancers online.3 points

Is the gay scene dying off ?
dscrtsldnbi and 2 others reacted to hojacat for a topic
They say prostitution is the oldest profession right? so, it was the first one and it's going to be the last one in this world. It's definitely not going away anytime soon. Actually, a higher number and percentage of younger people are visiting Thailand and the countries around, compared to when most of you guys where in the 20s and 30s. Lots of them are enjoying the free company of Asian guys they find online or through bars. Now imagine the same people going back to the same places in 25-30 years. I'm sure that when they don't get the same rate of success, lots of them wouldn't mind splurging a little bit to relive those happy moments from their youth with an Asian twink body next to them. That said I'm sure most of that transactional activity will take place online. I'm in my mid 30s, and pretty much through all my life I always found most of sex online, first through internet sites and then came the apps. I imagine it's even more common for people younger than me. However, as online shopping didn't fully eliminate brick and mortar stores, so I think go go boys aren't fully going away. There is some advantage in actually seeing and touching your "merchandise" in person, than just ordering it online. They might change in form and they way they operate but hasn't that always happened? Were the go-go bars in BKK and Pattaya in the 80s and 90s same as the ones we see today?3 points -

He is not "oligarch", since he isn't owner of Lukoil. He is just top-manager. The only oligarch who died on territory of Russia at past 3 years is Prigozhin, but he didn't fall from window. Rest people in this long list are managers or minor businessman like Melnikov (his medical company had yearly profit less than $1 mln), or died outside of Russia. The most propagandistic row in this "Long List of Bullshit" is row with Rapoport name, who died in USA to where he emigrated in 1980 at age of 12 yo. No one US agency accused Russia in his death. But I think somebody should check his 2 Ukrainian wife who got all Rapoport's money after his death. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Rapoport By the way, speaking about gay rights and police raids. This is better news: "The National Soft Power Development Committee has clarified its idea of staging the Songkran festival for the whole month of April, saying the water-splashing festivities will still be held on April 13-15... ....while other cultural events will be organised nationwide during the entire month. The move follows heavy criticism that the idea is impractical and a month-long water splashing event would be a huge waste..." This is somewhat of a tangent. I have never hired a Siam Roads guide as I love doing my own exploring around a continent I know quite well after so many decades. But I did have one young man contact me on an app during one trip 3 years ago just prior to covid closing borders. We spent two lovely days together and he was clearly experienced in sex which was great. It was only later I discovered he was a Siam Roads guide. Obviously on his days off!2 points

I tip anywhere from 10-50 reais depending on the time they spend with me. Like I said tipping was encouraged. I was the only foreigner the time I went and I had a blast. Most locals I did not see tip actual cash. But It was mentioned to me by one local that most tip using PIX and the dancers do remember the tippers. I have never actually seen a 10 reais bill, if I had them I would use them to tip to the ones that are not my type and don't really want to spend more time with after the first tip. Like Pauliero, sitting with me also increases the possibility of a larger tip. Interpretation: Bitterness, anhedonia.2 points -

I find it fascinating that someone who appears to be gay and posts about hookups with university students in Moscow, would consistently defend Putin, in particular his scapegoating gay people which has been going on for more than a decade. There are so many stories about gay Russians who have suffered horribly under Putinās rule, either at the hands of the government or at the hands of thugs while the government turns a blind eye. Does a gay person living in Russia, posting on gay websites daily, really think that they are safe? And if they really do think that they are safe, are they deluded? Or does their ardent defense of the regime give them protection? Or are they deluded in thinking that their ardent defense of the regime will give them protection? It just makes no sense. I am new to this site and I have wondered if Moses is a Russian citizen who has little choice, but to live in Russia. Or is he an ex-pat living in Russia by choice? On Swatdee, he encouraged someone to move to Moscow for all the sexy foreign exchange students. But what gay person or Westerner would make that choice, particularly in todayās Russia? It all seems so risky and so dangerous. Even oligarchs that were close to Putin at some point routinely āaccidentallyā fall out of windows. I just donāt get it. I must be missing something2 points -

As far as the raids being to find drugs, given the timing just a couple of days after the anti-gay legislation was passed, that has to be the joke of the week. Also @Moses information again is incorrect. It was more than one bar/venue in Moscow. One was the dance club Malaya Yakimanka Ulitsa with more than 300 attending. But the raids were on several - all as reported by The Moscow Times and in other Russian media. One was a club near Avtozavodskaya metro station and another a men's strip club near the Polyanka metro station. But then of course @Moses never provides sources - except for once when the two he posted were in Russian and Japanese and on translation were found to have nothing to do with the subject of his post! As for St. Petersburg, his information is also 100% misleading. The club in St. Petersburg was the long established Central Station which was not actually raised but forced to shut down on Friday after its landlord evicted the management "over the Supreme Court's ban on the LGBT community." Also referring to @Moses second paragraph, I have listened to the exact words Putin said two weeks ago. It is 100% clear he was talking exclusively about western society, and he was laughing when he said it! His words had absolutely nothing to do with Russia and Russian society. So @Moses is yet again trying to pull the wool over our eyes. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2023/12/02/moscow-police-raid-gay-clubs-after-extremist-ban-on-lgbt-community-a832972 points

After fellow forum member left at 11 plus, I decided to go to Dreamboys. Show was midway. Seats all taken but mamasan managed to squeeze me in left corner. There were both male and female customers. I was seated diagonally across the hall facing a certain Hotmale Beer Bar waiter with Japanese lady customer in private sofa booth. I also saw many guys who were at Circus and Balcony in Soi 4 earlier in evening. Show was same as when I watched in June. Mix of different types of performances for everyone from the casual curious tourist who just wandered in to the seasoned visitor. Ladyboy diva singing, energetic dancers, slapstick masked face comedy, macho man in heels dancing and the usual erotic dancing with cocks exposed - this had everything for everyone! The entire show lasted till 1am with 10-minute intermission every half hour where the guys went on stage for prospective customers to off. Half the audience left at midnight after big cock show. After 10-minute intermission with guys on stage, the show continued. Coyote dancing at 12.30am saw an appreciative customer giving 100 baht tips to the 9 guys who danced. They formed a line to collect their tips with one guy even kneeling and wai-ing! At 1am, the music stopped and show was over. I headed to Screwboys to off the guy I saw last night (no.93). Unfortunately he had been taken. So I went back to hotel alone on day 4.2 points

Apparently there is a small group of people who essentially "retire" to mainstream cruises. The way most cruises operate I think it would get incredibly boring fairly quickly. But I guess they figure that having a room and food is enough. I have read lots of downsides though, especially if you are in need of medical care. And as people age and require more specialized care it is not something the cruise line is able or willing to provide. People who should be in assisted living are trying to stay on cruise ships instead. It also seems like there are plenty of lines doing long-term 'round-the-world itineraries that this new, untested company would need to compete on cost with the big lines. I have friends who took a 6 month around the world cruise on one of the large lines. I don't know how much they paid though.1 point

Tipping is only done when the stripper comes back on stage with a hard on and goes in front of each group of customers, removing his underwear and asking the customer to put it back. Not an easy task since the underwear is rather small and the dick is rather big. Depending on how much I like the stripper, what he let me do before the final show, whether he came to speak with me or not, I give 5 (rarely), 10 or 20 reais.1 point -

Just for me personally I donāt like that I have to be toweled to just go sit at the bar at thermas. I have no intention of getting wet and just want to play and have a drink but not have to remove my clothing in locker room. Itās not a problem at 117 in Rio. Also I long for saunas that are single floored cause I have major back issues and each step up or down stairs kills me..or at least an elevator. I was confused about it being the weekend and the time was nearing 10pm and a guy told me that the rent boys are leaving a little after 10 because in my mind it was a 24 hour spot so I didnāt understand. And with little understanding I thought he said they go to party? I was like what party? lol so I had not messed around yet and it was nearly 10pm so I just took a Colombian guy and did oral and wow what a great kisser he wasā¦and that was 50. He said if he came to my hotel with finishing itās a 100. So I just took his number. Too bad thereās not a way to pay sauna boys with card cause I only change usd to euro just to pay them and maybe Iām just changing at the wrong place cause that service fee alone could nearly get me a session smh1 point

As I wind down this visit, a few observations on these shops. First, I would generally reject manger/mamasan recommendations. Iāve accepted them three times over the past few trips and all were disappointing. My advice is to review the offerings on line and decide on a list of your top three. You can choose to reserve via Line or phone (never been asked for deposit on same day request) or simply choose on arrival. If mamasan says āhe not work today but how about this one?ā, Iād move on to my next choice. If you exhaust all three of your picks, Iād consider using tablet or moving on to another shop. Most shops open at 11a.m. but many of the boys are still sleeping or working other job. I think best time to come is mid afternoon. Your chances of getting your choice in fresh condition are improved. Coming from Saphan Kwai, only One Spa is on left side of road. All others on right are BT House, KK Massage and Home Spa.1 point

It was a crazy Saturday night at Hotmale Beer Bar downstairs because two regular lady customers visited. One Japanese lady customer was locked in embrace and kisses with a particular waiter at the sofa. They then adjourned to Dreamboys in private sofa seat with bottle service to enjoy their show. Yours Truly happened to go to Dreamboys and sit directly opposite them. The particular waiter looked half drunk by the time they left after midnight. The rest of waiters at Hotmale Beer Bar downstairs became half drunk due to a Thai lady customer who showered them with whisky shots. She's a regular and when she comes, most of the staff crowd around her. They even change their music from English songs to Thai just for her and they sing, dance and drink throughout. She ordered shot glasses to be brought out and she personally poured bottles of Jagermeister into each shot glass full to the brim and then gave them to the waiters to drink. Most got 2 to 3 shots while her favourites got more than 5 shots. I presume she tips them when she leaves. I wasn't around to see the tipping but I did find out that her total bill for drinks once hit 20k baht in one night!1 point
