Out of curiosity I wonder how many members of the forum might be retired in Thailand as I hope to do next year. I would imagine not many as I've found retired folk tend to haunt the FB forums more... I am heading for Songkhla to live, I want to be close to the Malay border and Hat Yai as I have extended family in Penang and friends in Hat Yai. I will make the trip up north for Bangkok and the tourist traps and find me a boy bar in Pattaya for a gin and tonic or four but it doesn't appeal to me to live up there. If any forum members reside down south where I am hoping to be, please do strike up a conversation with me, I am up for some friends. I am planning on being there late 2024, November probably. Leaving the UK late August '24 and doing a couple of months in Penang first.3 points -

Most of the US officials at the table were also looking at President Joseph Biden intently. Nobody is horrified or terrified. You got that talking point from your puppeteers and clown masters! 🤡🤡🤡 The entire meeting was extremely formal and controlled. Nobody wanted to be seen smiling, nodding their head, shaking their head, or doing anything except listen intently. If you think this is "the face of terror" on Secretary Blinken's face, what do you call this -- when he's looking at the Chinese side of the table? That's just how he listens at serious meetings. And here's Secretary Blinken from a photo published back in June 2023. It's the same serious expression -- exactly the same as when he was listening to President Biden yesterday.3 points -

I am not in the underestimating Biden club. He has repeatedly kick the asses of those making fun of him, starting with the orange ass. Clearly, he is smarter and wiser than most of his critics. However, it is undeniable that both political parties' inability to find younger leaders is worrying.2 points -

Funny how if anyone is terrified it is clearly President Putin. After all, he is guarded day and night and travels on his own special luxurious armoured bulletproof train. All of his residences are lilnked by railway lines enabling him to reach them on this train. With the invasion of Ukraine, he is afrad to travel by plane. Former bodyguards for Russian President Vladimir Putin have gained immense power in exchange for their unquestioned loyalty. Many have also accumulated vast wealth, exemplifying how Russia’s newly ascendant class has exploited a system meant to protect the old. An investigation by Novaya Gazeta, in partnership with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, shows who paid the price: more than 1,100 ordinary people who had worked for decades on a giant poultry plant outside Moscow. Some were decorated World War II veterans whom the Soviet Union had promised lifetime employment and pensions. But in the newly independent Russian Federation, there can be no such guarantees. During the 1990s, these workers say, a small clique of powerful businessmen and criminals used manipulation, forgery, intimidation, and even beatings to seize their land. The dozens of hectares were then divided into smaller plots and eventually doled out to a cohort newly empowered by Putin: officers in the Federal Guard Service and the Presidential Security Service. The above is part of a long article pubished by Novaya OCCRP, Russia in 2019. In the light of @Moses comments on the looks of those around Biden, who looks terrified here - both men! Putin and Viktor Zolotov, the Director of the National Guard! No, I think the psychopath and the sociopath should both be in jail and that no politicians should be allowed to participate in any election cycle once they reach 70. Funnily enough though, the people with the most money and influence and those that own the media tend to be older and so that's who we get.2 points
-
Yes, it's interesting focusing on Biden and his age when we have a psychopath in charge of Russia and a sociopath who will be the next Republican nominee as long as he can destroy enough of the US legal system to keep him out of jail. Biden is too old yet he still talks more sense than Putin or Trump. Dems are risking a lot though. Thanks for clarifying the board thing. Could have sworn when the board went down for a few days they were waiting on you to do some stuff but I was obviously wrong. I don't visit the other boards these days.2 points

Ah, MK....a restaurant on floor 5 Central, in Big C and terminus 21 ( and all over Thailand) that is invariably full in the evenings , catering predominantly to middle-class(ish) Thais. It is based on the cook-it-yourself model, featuring large, bubbling cauldrons on each table into which diners put meat/fish/vegetables from a huge menu. All very fresh. it also serves duck in a ginger sauce that I maintain is superior to any that I've enjoyed anywhere in the world, whatever the cost. The staff- young girls and boys, always cute- do a choreographed dance periodically, the girls enthusiastically, the boys shyly. The cost (without drinks) is about 800 bht for two. P and his mates think it's the best place to eat in the world. Or at least, in their world.2 points

From Tourism Authority of Thailand The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has announced a new set of incentives, effective from 1 November 2023 to 31 March 2024, to stimulate international air traffic during the high season in support of the government’s tourism promotion policy. AOT has actively positioned its six airports – Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports, Phuket International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Hat Yai International Airport, and Chiang Rai International Airport – as preferred destinations for airlines, thus encouraging the introduction of new routes to expand the air network and accelerate the recovery of the aviation industry. Under the Performance-based Incentive Scheme, airlines adding flights to these six airports beyond those approved on 8 September 2023, are eligible for a discount on the aircraft landing service fee. The discount, however, cannot exceed 75% of the aircraft landing service fee for any additional flight. Previous measures, such as discounts for airlines on new routes and requirements for flights commencing after the start of the 2023 Winter flight schedule, have been implemented to support this objective. These measures, previously effective from 1 November 2017 to 31 October 2019, have been extended to 31 October 2025. To facilitate the anticipated increase in interactive air traffic, AOT is collaborating with the relevant agencies to enhance personnel and facilities, both landside and airside, for the utmost convenience of international passengers.2 points

My impression is that the JC bars are doing better than they were on my last visit in July. Tuesday was particularly busy...there must have been fifty people enjoying bingo. Don't ask me why when there were a host of cute guys making themselves available. Chacun a son gout! As far as hotels are concerned, ours is full. We struggled and only just succeeded in finding a room for a friend of P who wants to stay with us a for a couple of days next week. On the other hand, I've never seen MK in Central so quiet. In fact, the whole place was quiet. Our Chiang Mai hotel was busier than since pre -Covid days. The plane was full both ways and the markets and temples had plenty of visitors. Accordingly, my advice is to book early.2 points

Nope. Russian medias work exactly how some members here are acting: when Russian media haven't arguments against some facts, for example problems with the freedom of speech in Russia, they starting to talk about meeting dissolving by police in foreign countries, instead of discussing actual problem. The same do some members here: they acting like Russian propaganda - they have nothing to say about facts which I bring here, so they are starting to talk about "foreign countries" - about Putin. And all sarcasm of situation is what people acting like person whom they hate the most.1 point -

Again I did not mention sex tourism, but you brought it up and say "it's sad", you can now spin any way you want. But your intent is quite clear. Not sure why you keep going about San Francisco. Why keep beating around and comparing Taipei with San Francisco? Why not comparing Taipei with Bangkok or another city?1 point -

Had the opportunity to view this exhibit today. It’s arranged by major events and regions. I began making mental notes of images I thought would be among the most memorable but I soon gave up. There were simply far too many to keep track of. My emotions ranged from anger to despair but in the end it was an overwhelming aversion to violence and inhumanity. And it was in almost every case the eyes of the victims that conveyed what I’m sure James Nachtwey wanted us to bear witness.1 point

I was under the impression that the times this board has had issues, @Moses has been kind enough to take his valuable time to help resolve them. Disagreeing with people's posts or politics means things are going to get heated at times but perhaps we should appreciate we don't see everything that goes on behind the scenes and not chase people away. I had a gay ol' time in South Africa's Cape Town, but unfortunately, the gayborhood's epic bathhouse - "Hot House," I believe is closed down. It was one of the sexiest bathhouses I'd ever visited, with African men across the continent there and ready to fuck - and perhaps drugged out of their gords. The spa has signs about no drugs all over the place, and I later learned why that may be the case. But until then, I connected with a beautiful man from Egyptian in his twenties, short and muscular fucked me like the Energizer Bunny for hours - it was incredible. After stalking a few tall, dark men, I was cornered by a muscular god of a man from Iraq. 6' bulging muscles and a shaved head. He was flirty, and we played around and made out passionately, but things quickly got awkward in the hot tub. After some play in the pool, he started looking drowsy and suddenly g'ed out on me while he was grinding on top of me. No one was around, and I was terrified he might slip off me and drown since he was definitely over 200lb, but thankfully, the water made him buoyant enough that I was able to balance him until security came in and screamed at us. Of course, I was not really in the position to just walk him out of the tub and into an ER, but thankfully the guards' dramatics did wake my sleeping beauty who was then unceremoniously kicked out—wild and unforgettable times. God bless Hot House.1 point -
This happened one month ago in 1st week of October. I was in Bangkok for a weekend. Took evening flight from Singapore. Once I checked into room at Le Meridien, off I went at 9.30pm to Hotmale Beer Bar downstairs to meet with forum member whom I haven't met for two years ever since Covid. New bar Sol directly opposite had some yummy shirtless guys hanging around once their rotation on stage ended. Was very tempted by blonde guy in photo but surprisingly, I didn't step into any gogo bar during my 3 nights. I shall explain why later. Sorry @vinapu for not being able to report on the show or the guys in Sol.1 point

It seems like a no-brainer to me. It only makes sense to encourage longer vacations in the country, without requiring visa runs to Cambodia or Laos. The weather can be quite unpleasant in many European countries in their winter, and if a tourist wants to spend several weeks of his foreign cash in Thailand, that's a bonus for the Thai economy. If there's a down-side, I don't see it. I just looked it up upon reading the above post, and it looks as though Americans and Canadians are only allowed visa-free for 30-days as well. I don't see the wisdom in limiting tourism from wealthier nations. Canadians especially might like to escape their cruel winters...1 point

Standard rooms, clean and no charge for your guests. Get in contact with manny. He will have guys lined up for you. With a small deposit to him, he will bring a guy to the airport and you can have fun in his van while he drives you to your hotel. Have fun! Be safe!1 point -

They have to a large extent operated under the gaydar. Yet Asia's first-ever Gay Games - known as the Gay Olympics, the week-long annual event marking inclusion and diversity - will end today with a large closing ceremony. 2,400 athletes along with their friends, families and members of Hong Kong's own LGBTQ community will join hands in celebration of a highly successful week to dance to disco music with 'gay' abandon. It was all very different in 2017 when Hong Kong was awarded the Games to join the hosts of previous Games like Paris, Amsterdam and Sydney. There was joy among the gay communities throughout Asia, a joy that in part celebrated Hong Kong's continuing freedoms after its return to mainland China. Then came the massive 2019 protests, the all-encompassing new National Security Law imposed by China making "love China" the flavour not only of the month but all future months and, perhaps even worse for the Gay Games, the closure of Hong Kong with eventually the world's most draconian quarantine regulations as Covid took its toll. As this was going on, a crackdown on LGBTQ activities was underway in China itself. Many felt Hong Kong could never host the Games. Originally planned for 2022, the Games were pushed back a year. But the worry over China's contol of Hong Kong continued. As a contingency, the Games organisers appointed Guadalajara as a co-host. This inevitably resulted in many participants going to Mexico rather than risk going to Kong Kong. Consequently, the numbers taking part in Hong Kong were diminished. But according to reports, all who went had a ball. Few lawmakers in Hong Kong seemed to have a ball, though! Speaking at the opening ceremony last Saturday, just one lawmaker Regina Ip priased the event she claimed "overflowed with passion and a great sense of unity and community." Odd, though, that even though this event brought thousands of participants, the Games were totlly absent from the city's Tourism body's website. Not even one sentence! Even Ms. Ip was called a hypocrite. One of her remarks praised the Hong Kong courts for "numerous judgements" handed down in favour of the LGBTQ community. Activists and lawyers quickly pointed out that Ip's government had opposed each of those judgements, losing in almost every single case. “Why are they still wasting taxpayers’ money fighting these tooth-and-nail litigations when they’re recycling the same arguments and losing?” said Mark Daly, a human rights lawyer who has worked on a number of the cases. But the week of the Games was a joyous occasion for many and proof that not everything in Hong Kong is yet joined at the hip to the mainland. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-67366059 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/11/gay-games-hong-kong-china-hostility-gay-transgender1 point

Two very pertinent posts with, as usual from @macaroni21, a lot of interesting points. I agree about Guide Sites. I have no idea how they can possibiy keep up to date unless they have a correspondents like @ChristianPFC in every country. The problem is that clearly there are some gay guys around the world who look at them and regard most of what they recommend as some sort of gospel. And with some of the sites relying on advertising, they will continue as long as the advertising revenue rolls in, no matter how many tourists finally discover that at least some of what they wrote was nonsense. I wrote earlier about one site which did have advertising from several major companies, including a hotel chain and airline. This site had clearly made up a two article trip to Bangkok and Chiang Mai allegedly by one of its staff. It was mostly b/s. I decided to write to the advertisers, first to congratulate them for helping gay travellers, but adding my comments on the made-up articles. I don't recall getting replies but I do know that website died quite soon thereafter. As far as this site is concerned, I did assist in writing I believe three of the city guides and the emphasis was on tourism rather than specifically gay tourism. I certainly agree they should be dated. Having just checked, I note that when you click underneath the city descriptions on the sub-heads Gay Bars, Gay Clubs, Gay Massage etc, in most cities there are no listings at all. I sincerely suggest to the Moderator that these sub-heads just be deleted. Bangkok certainly has some bars listed, but why is Maggie Choo's the first when only Sunday is the Gay Night? And why is Telephone still listed as such and not Circus, the new name adopted about 2 years ago? Incidentally I see it is still listed as Telephone under travelgay.com! Asian Members. I wish I could be as optimistic as I have been suggesting for several years that Asians, and preferably younger Asians, should be a natural target for rejuvenating membership on this site. but I really wonder where @macaroni21 gets his suggestions about numbers. As a regular reader and contributor, I definitely cannot see the same numbers, with the honourable exception of @spoon in Malaysia. I do think the problem with this site for Asians outside Thailand, in my view, is that the information on the gay scene is not sufficiently condensed. A young reader in Singapore, for example, has to wade through a lot of posts before finding information about specific massage spas - and Singaporeans are very into massage! For western readers, it's much easier and much quicker to find the relevant information. As an example, the Singapore-based Blowing Wind site appears specifically for a much younger readership (a great many in their 20s and 30s) and it does have an extensive Travel section with information all posted by readers on Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and a host of other Asian cities. The last post on Bangkok was made less than an hour ago and is a very detailed description about Bantai Spa including their Line and Twitter IDs. Another made in the last 24 hours is a very detailed (again!) description of a hostel near the National Stadium and all the gay activity that goes on there. Finding travel information with a lot of detail on that site is a breeze. Not so on any of the gay Thailand sites IMHO.1 point -

My nights were spent chatting with fellow forum member at Hotmale Beer Bar downstairs. During the day, I went for massages including a visit to Arena. "I'm Jack from Chiang Mai. Nice to meet you," says the guy I picked from the lineup. His strokes were a bit rough for my taste but he was eager to earn his tip. He was naked from the start and allowed me to feel his firm abs throughout. "Massage finish. I fuck you now?" he asked. I said no fuck because I had discovered he had mooks in his dick. "I suck you?" he then asked. I said yes and he gave a really good blowjob. I asked him to cum together with me and he obliged by shooting three waves of thick creamy load onto me. After that, he helped to shower me in ensuite toilet.1 point

I was only with my "cha nuoi" for one night. My second night was spent with a new and very charming Myanmar waiter. 22 years only. He speaks good English. In the hotel room, I noticed the counterfeit Calvin Klein briefs he wears. I offered to buy him the original CK briefs when I go to Bangkok again in December. "Size M. Only white colour please, thank you so much," he replied. We had an enjoyable night followed by round two in morning before breakfast. I enjoyed his company so much that I took him off again on my third and final night during this short visit to Bangkok.1 point

Besides fellow forum member, I also got reacquainted with a Vietnamese guy that I knew from the days of Soi Twilight. He decided to go back to Ha Tinh in Vietnam about one year before Covid and I had been sending him money and supporting him. I call him "cha nuoi" (godson) while he calls me "kon nuoi" (godpa). He was doing ok for a while with the money I sent him but Covid hit and things really went bad in Ha Tinh. He struggled to find full time job after Covid and had to take on odd jobs to survive. Finally, he decided to come to Bangkok to work. He didn't want to work at gogo bar so he is working in packing and delivery in day. But it only pays 600 baht per day so at night, he turns up at Dreamboys and gets 200 baht for going on stage. He says he rarely gets customers because there are so many guys on stage and he is older than the rest (he's only 27!) I told him that there's guys older than him at Dreamboys! He also theorises that it's because he's so dark due to working in the sun. He meets me at Hotmale Beer Bar downstairs. He had texted me in advance: "You no go my bar. Today I no go work so you no need buy drink and pay bar money take me hotel". Once in hotel, I had a shock. There were elaborate tattoos on his back. He didn't have them before. "Why you no tell me?" I asked. He admitted sheepishly that he thought I might not like them. But I think he's indirectly admitting that he felt guilty for spending the money I sent to him in Vietnam on such tattoos. "It's ok. You are my cha nuoi." And with that, we spent the night 5 years after we last saw each other.1 point
