From Pattaya News European travelers could potentially soon enjoy 60 days of exploration in Thailand without visa requirements, as reported by the Thai Tourism and Sports Ministry. Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol stated on Monday, November 13th, that the tourism ministry is contemplating proposing to the Thai Cabinet to extend the visa exemption period for visitors from 50 European countries from 30 days to 60 days.

Trying to figure out its current address. I see two on various media. One is 375/5 Pracha Rat Sai 2 Road. Its on their latest LINE burst. This address seems to be directly beneath Bang Pho station. The other is 365/4 Prachatrat sai 1, stated on its weebly.com website and Instragram. On Oct 15 last year, @reader reported that it was "Located directly below the Bang Pho Station on the Blue line". But then reader reported yesterday that "it has just relocated to new quarters not far from original location." Logically, this seems to mean the address is not any longer under Bang Pho station but instead at 365/4 Pracha Rat Sai 1 which is about 1km north of Bang Pho station. Absolute nonsense. Mother drawing as much attention to the issue as possible, instead of trying to hide the incident suggests that a sense of injustice is motivating her. The heyday of the castrato voice in opera was the first half of the 18th century. Mozart never intended Cherubino to be sung by anyone other than a soprano or mezzo-soprano female voice. The castrato voice was becoming less popular by the time Mozart's genius was recognised. In his early operas written before he was 25, he certainly did include roles for soprano or contralto castrati. Therafter he only used one once again in his last opera Clemenza di Tito. He never used any in arguably his best-known and finest operas: the three with libretti by Lorenzo da Ponte - Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and Cosi fan tutte - or in Magic Flute. I suspect this is because by this time he had become far more aware of the vital importance of the dramatic action happening on stage. The voices in his early operas included both soprano and contralto castrati. Nowadays some of the soprano castrato roles are at the very highest range for a counter-tenor and so are almost always performed by female sopranos. Incidentally, the famous motet Esultate Jubilate was composed when Mozart was 17 for the celebrated castrato Rauzzini. The counter-tenor voice did not gain popularity until around the mid-20th century with Russell Oberlin in America and Alfred Deller in the UK leading the way. Essentially this is a falsetto voice. All males can create such a falsetto sound but it requires years of technical and vocal training to develop the sound, to make it 'even' and develop character if you wish to become a professional singer.

The castrati came in different vocal styles. Gluck was the famous opera reformer and his most popular work today is Orfeo based on the tale of Orpheus who goes down to the underworld to take back his beloved Euridyce who has died. When first performed in Vienna in 1762 a few years after Mozart's birth, the title role was written for the famous mezzo-soprano castrato named Guadagni. When it was revised and performed in Italy some years later, the role was rewritten for a high soprano castrato Giuseppe Millico. There were also contralto castrati such as the hugely popular Senesino for whom Handel wrote many of his major operatic roles. Senesino was based in London for about 16 years where Handel then lived. As for Cherubino, this has traditionally been played by a woman with a mezzo-soprano voice. In the opera Cherubino is a teenage boy besotted by teenage love and is one of quite a few "trouser" roles in opera. Another teenage role is Octavian in Richard Strauss' most popular opera Der Rosenkavalier, always sung by a mezzo. There he also plays a teenager in love with a woman but who is much older. Indeed, the opening scene sees them in bed together after a short orchestral prelude depiciting their passionate love-making. As one critic wrote, that Prelude concludes with "four quick upthrusts on the horn"! I have never heard of counter-tenors singing the role of Cherubino. Much as I love Philippe Jaroussky's voice, the vdo is of a concert performance. He has never sung the role in a staged performance. I suppose somewhere in Germany there will be an opera house or two where directors trying to be modern have used counter-tenors in the role. But oddly, in the youtube excerpts I have listened to, the counter-tenor voice sounds less like that of a youngish boy! One of the greatest Cherubinos of the last century was the Spanish mezzo Teresa Berganza. Not only was she relatively small and therefore physically more suited to the part, when you listen to the subtlety she brings to the aria it's surely clear this is the voice Mozart intended foe the role.

This is simply an observation resulting from a few pleasant hours spent with two fellow board members—and some hot waiters and boys from Sol—last night from a table at HM. Thai police might group them together with other Chinese who are involved in illegal activities in Thailand,” Rumpueng said. She believes that the presence of Chinese police would help clear up possible misunderstandings and suppress the illegal activities by the Chinese. Meanwhile Jitsupa Prajongbua, a Thai tour guide, said that it would give the Chinese tourists more confidence in their safety, adding “I am confident that more Chinese tourists will visit Thailand if the concept is implemented.” In the Huay Kwang area of Bangkok, which is crowded with Chinese tourists, one said that the Chinese community seems to welcome the concept. “My opinion is that Thai police have not yet provided enough safety for us. If Chinese police can join the team, I feel that it would certainly increase our confidence in living our lives. In case of emergency, the communication will be easy. On a slight side-track, I have several dozen photos of Mt. Fuji both from early evening southbound flights out of Narita and from one of the great viewing spots in the city - the restaurant on the top floor of the Garden Wing of the New Otani Hotel in Akasaka. But I got my best pic only a few years ago. I was on a daytime Cathay Pacific flight from Haneda to Hong Kong and then back to Bangkok. I knew it would pass to the east of Mt. Fuji and so had my camera at the ready - just in case we broke through the cloud cover and it came into view. It did. Magnificent views. You can easily make out the trails for walking to the top. Aicraft was an Airbus A330.

I , for one , visit, daily this, Sawatdee & Gaybutton sites as well as ChristianPFC and ShamelessMac blogs. Contribute only here and occasionally on Christian's site. For my travel needs, Kayak for flights and Agoda for hotels seem to be sufficient. I pay very little attention to reviews, be it airlines , hotels, restaurants or indeed boys , spas and bars posted on various sites unless I know reviewer either in person or from contributing here. Sometimes for fun I read reviews of hotels I'm familiar with , either in Thailand or somewhere else and find them all over the place. Food reviews are even less useful as our tastes vary and too sweet for some may be bordering on bitter or sour for others and even if your chicken with cashew nuts may seem too salty, one I order 1 hour later may be just perfect in the same place

Day 6 My last day in bangkok =( Well had to checkout by 12pm. Flight was about 8pm, so squeezed in 2 massages. The first at Arena Spa. Wow, can't believe I walked there. Thereafter, cabbed to Jey spa for a 2pm 1.5h massage 😃 So this is my 4th and final Jey spa visit this time, and I was infatuated with the last masseur - Arm. Cuz he is just so freaking cute, tanned, handsome, charming, he had perfect chest, biceps, arms, face and I was sooo charmed with him. It was the hottest massage I had this visit, so I had to end with him, and with a 1.5h massage. It was perfect. He hugged me as soon as we got into the room, and we hugged and gently kissed for awhile more. Sighs. Massage was perfect, and the afters were super hott.
