  1. Onward to Pattaya, I opted for a new mode of transport (for me), the bus from BKK to Jomtien for 165 baht. It was on time, no issues and I got some free entertainment. I boarded the bus and made my way up the aisle to find someone sitting in my selected window seat, not to worry, it’s a short trip I’ll survive. Then he begins playing football youtube videos on his phone with the sound up, ok I’ve got my airpods back I’ll play some music. After 10 minutes of his videos he opens up the line contacts and starts messaging the girls to meet while facing his phone directly at me, ok I’m locked in now, pour me some tea. First Reply: “I cannot I visit my mom until 30th” Damn, I’m sure that’s who she’s with. After about 10 minutes and multiple chats going nowhere, he’s got one replying, I try not to smirk as he is trying to negotiate bareback with this girl with his phone centimetres from my face on full brightness. Long story short, she basically made him jump through hoops for 30 minutes while he tries to convince her, then she drops “2000 baht you pay in advance now”. I’m screaming internally DO NOT FUCKING DO IT, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF BUDDHA! Thankfully, he seems to have given up at that, he rests his head on his clenched fist and leans against MY window looking out in sorrow. cheer up lad, you're on your way to a buyers market. Overall, the bus trip was fine, it took about the same amount of time as my usual Nam’s trip at a tenth of the cost. I jumped on a mototaxi with my backpack and headed into Jomtien complex where I had booked my stay, I could have walked it from the bus station, but it was hot and I hadn’t eaten all day so I’ll overpay for the 1 minute ride. In the mornings/afternoons when i rise I usually find my perch at O’Delicies or Dicks with breakfast and some coffee while I watch the Soda massage arrivals. There were anywhere from 10-20 on any given day, two of which i promptly added to my mental note 'hitlist'. I've got another massage story... same rules, i know mistakes etc etc. My first massage at Soda I'd call my redemption massage, the massage itself was lacking but finding a twink to give a strong thorough massage is not an easy task. He was ok though, and we made our way around the room in a flurry of suspicious noise-invoking moves before I tipped him for his performative dance. As i'm getting dressed he drops a "i love you" and i chose to ignore it (this will be red flag #1 for later reference). The next day as i saunter up looking for the other name on my mental hitlist i see the second guy but he's sporting a bloody nose, tissues rammed up there and head tilted back. I'm not going to risk that coming undone for my massage, so i request day 1 guy again and off we go. The massage itself was fine, the turn and dance was good, but then he asks to exchange line and i reluctantly add him knowing it's just going to be money requests later. The moment after i leave the shop my phone is blowing up with i love you, what you do later, all kinds of love bombing emojis. I don't have love on the mind so i decide to ignore the messages, well that just makes it worse apparently, now its turned to 'why dont you reply, why dont you love me, am i bitch', it goes on. All very dramatic for a guy i've known for 2 hours, half of that time having face planted in a table. I block him knowing that I have to walk past this shop multiple times a day, and oh boy, the dirty looks every time i step foot out of my hotel. I decided i might give Soda a cooldown period so i don't get stabbed. The usual suspects were at the host bars in the evenings in Jomtien, some were good looking, some were too pushy, but plenty of opportunities. I did find myself bored in Jomtien complex for the first time though and I was having issues at Agate with my Russian straight couple neighbours on the other side of the paper-thin walls. I'm not sure if it's a low-season phenomenon or if straights don't look at where they're staying, but the demographics of Agate were a lot different than my previous trips, I felt like the only gay in the village and the hotel looked to be fully booked. The neighbour couple certainly were not fans of what i was doing with one of my regulars right as they sat down to eat dinner in their room one evening, I don't speak Russian but i got a good sense of what they were saying. Of course my regular who loves a bit of playful banter took it upon himself to turn it up a notch both with his vocals and the slapping sounds. I couldn't stop him if i tried, but he is the reason i can no longer look them in the eyes when i step out onto my balcony. Time to leave, I've done enough to Jomtien for the time being. I hop on the baht bus and venture off to stay in Boyztown and spend some time at my favourite little gogo in Sunee.

  2. I go to both Brazil and Thailand, and each has its pros and cons. I play(paid sex) more in Brazil than Thailand. I do more sightseeing, shopping, cruising and clubbing in Thailand than Brazil. I have a busy life.

  3. don't worry. For me flying to Brazil would be cheaper than Thailand and still is Brazil 0: Thailand 30. Why ? I think Boy69 summarized it very neatly in his post : for me advantages listed above offsets disadvantage of boys being more expensive and also flight time being twice as much. I gnash my teeth , suffer badly and still prefer Bangkok and vicinity. I'm not particularly chickeny and vast travel experience taught me that places supposedly dangerous aren't as bad as word says but still I'm not big fun of having my vacation time spoiled by worries ' other side of railway station is considered unsafe" , " area between park and river bank is said to be off limits for tourists " , " when in taxi make sure windows are closed" and most important ' bringing unknown boy to your hotel may not be safe" . All quotations from various trip reports on this site. So up to now I'm content to pay 3000 baht ( 100 $) rather than 200 reais (40$) secured in knowing that if I need to walk from bar to hotel at say 2 am I don't need to call taxi nor constantly look over my shoulder.

  4. Day 10 It might be too early to be stressing out on small things but while having breakfast in my apartment, I'm having a dilemma with how much tip should I be giving Jake. I'm blaming myself for not having that conversation sorted prior ------ the original plan was just to meet up for an innocent coffee but it has since evolved to him staying for the night (20+ hours). I took a stab in the dark and decided on an amount and handed it to him before he left. He casually placed the bills inside his wallet without counting. Half an hour later, I received a text from him thanking me for the tip and how he will save it for next time he's in Thailand. The message felt weird but at least he's ok with the tip. Moving on with my day, I decided to do something touristy for a change. I have never been to MahaNakhon so I booked a ticket via app and headed to Chong Nonsi and see what the fuss is all about. To put it bluntly, while the view is amazing, the experience and routine is kinda similar to other skyscrapers I visited (Taiwan, Singapore, Tokyo, KL etc ). Although for some reason, everyone who wants to walk on the glass bottom bit is required to wear shoe coversand to have all loose items including mobile phones secured in a bag. I guess this is to prevent scratches to the glass? There's also a bar at the top floor. I can hear some saying that the drinks are expensive but looking at the menu, it's cheaper than boy bar drinks. I had a couple of decent Rosé before making my way down the building and head straight to Arena. Mek (?), the masseur I chose was surprisingly good. Massage quality in Arena has always been a hit and miss for me but the extras have been consistently enjoyable - hence, my constant visits. Mek have that rough manly look balanced out by his mischievous smile. His body is well proportioned and he's very generous with it. At one point I asked him to lie down on the massage bed and just admired his physique while giving him a massage. The bonus for me this time was he joined me in the shower before and after the massage. Come night time, ignoring temptations from apps and Line, I taxi-ed to Surawong, loaded up on caffeine in Starbucks Montien and when the time was ripe, marched towards Hotmale. There's a good contingent of guys up on the stage but the number of customers show that it's still lean season. Halfway through the first show, the volume of patrons improved which was a good sign for the guys. Ae was already seated with a customer which was good as I have the chance to off someone else without having that awkward chat with him. I quickly invited a hunky lad to get off the stage and join me. He introduced himself as Tee and he's from Isan. A few moments later, Ae came to our table, shook my hands and gave me a hug. Before walking away, Ae whispered that I made a good choice and that Tee is his friend. After the usual exchange of info (where you from, how long you stay, first time in Bangkok?), the conversation kinda dried up. I started to look around for any other potential offs as the connection wasn't there. He then excused himself as they have to prepare for their performance. I tried to distract myself from leaving and going to another club by trying to enjoy the performance. With eye candies up on the stage, I realised staying put will be both cost and time efficient. Now the performance itself was something else, while some are rehashed from the last time I was there, there's a new one I saw that I felt so conflicted about. There's a dance performance where Shakira's This Time's for Africa (Waka Waka) is playing and the guys are wearing nothing but what seems to be an epic failed attempt to an Indian headdress. I felt conflicted because while I know how incorrect the performance is in so many levels, I can't keep my eyes off the stage given what they chose not to cover down there. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm in a boy bar in Bangkok where political correctness may not be their priority nor hiring a cultural consultant for their performance! 😂 Tee came back and I was pleasantly surprised that his mood changed. He suddenly became attentive and engaging. Either the night is progressing and I'm his most likely chance for an off or my most likely suspicion is he had a chat with Ae backstage about our session a few nights ago. Whatever the reason is, I am delighted that we both started feeling comfortable. He's really chatty when relaxed and I'm glad to have chosen patience that night. A few minutes later, Ae passed by already dressed up to go out with his client. He shook both our hands and had a brief chat with Tee and went on his way. I can sense from Tee's expression that he would like to say something but is being hesitant. So I took the initiative and asked him if he would like to go with me tonight. He nodded and gave me a cheeky smile and wrapped his arms around me. Outside the bar, I asked Tee if he's hungry and if he would like to eat something. His "up to you" response wasn't very helpful but we eventually settled with having food delivered via grab. I gave him my phone and let him choose and order for both of us which he did gleefully although a bit worried about my spice tolerance. After eating, we bonded over drinks and chatted for a bit. He showed me photos from his Facebook account - his hometown, mates and family. I smiled and commented politely but at the back of my jaded mind, I'm suspecting that this might be a prelude to possibly asking for financial help down the line? ---- fast forward to today, I haven't heard from him. Maybe he's just making conversations and sharing a bit about himself without ulterior motive? No one knows. Afterwards, I switched on the telly and gave him the remote motioning I'm about to go to the shower. He must have misunderstood what I'm saying as we ended up in the shower together. But who am I to complain? Sometimes, language barrier has its advantages!

    jomtien doubts

I recommend M bar, it’s parallel to the main soi in jomtien complex. Just look out for anyone you like and have a drink with them, at any bar there. And don’t waste time on the apps. Many bad photos and phony ones. Imho, apps are better for expats who can waste time. I live there half the year and only use it to contact my regulars who usually work in the bars.

  6. I've been agreeing with you a lot recently.... I've posted about this same thing, with Thailand in the lead for food, massage, hotels, shopping and better choice of Business class flights. Brasil, Crazy good sex, guys are not shy and more fun, less drama, willing to be more "adventurous" in sex. Better to hang out with and go places.....also some good restaurants and some decent Airbnb's.

  7. Believe me , I feel your pain having the same from one of Bkk masseurs. To make things worse , I genuinely like him, even offed him few times but all that bombarding with 'I miss you , have you eaten yet /" etc made me almost suicidal or murderous. I guess it's his way of showing gratitude but as my friend familiar with that issue said ' he is not helping his case" Sadly he is right. It's idiotic situation for me when in Bangkok. I miss the guy and still do my best not to pass by his shop in case he sees me.

  8. Everyone can do with their money whatever they want, however you are right Thailand become very expensive for the same service you pay between third to half price in South America compared to Thailand and the boys there are very attractive this is why I put Thailand on hold and focusing in South America nowadays. Thailand has other advantages : 1.accommodation and food is cheaper. 2.More easy to find boys and bring them to your room. 3.It's much safer country.

  10. Something similar happened to me when I used the ATM outside of the The Bangkok Christian Hospital....the sun reflection was so bad on the screen I couldn't read the screen, and I thought the conversion OK, was Continue. When I saw the receipt I almost shit. I took a picture of the screen showing it was nearly black. I knew I wouldn't win the DCC (Dynamic currency conversion) dispute, so I disputed that the machine didn't dispense any currency. I won the dispute because the Thai bank never responded to the dispute request and their time to do so ran out....I suspected that would be the outcome. My justification was that's what they get for being so greedy with their DCC % 😉

  13. Sad to see innocent victims. I can understand Thais willing to travel across the globe for work but Israel? Really? They are exploited foreign workers brought into replace the indigenous population whom the Zionists expelled and who had previously been cheap labour. I was visiting Palestine for thirteen years and am continuously amazed by Western ignorance...a wilful ignorance because Biden, Blinken and so on know exactly what sort of violent, racist Occupation is being imposed on the indigenous inhabitants. All based on Biblical legends from 3000BC. They know: and they ignore. Anyway, I really don't wish to get involved in this discussion because I have friends whom I love and who, at this very moment , are in danger from deranged settlers. 18. next time you there , try to have another go if you still like him. He may have rent to pay or simple may be thrilled that somebody likes him to extend to be so persistent. I know first hand what I'm talking about , not that boy or bar but similar situation. "I like you like me, you have Line?"

  19. Just happened to me at X-Boys in Pattaya...one guy was dancing naked and drinking after the show, when they lower the drinks to 100 baht, was the one I was interested in. Had fun talking/joking with him, and he said he's not gay and doesn't do offs.....I told him me either. Mamasan said he's a show boy and not a go-go 😒

  20. Good you brought it up. It 's generally assumed that all stuff can be offed and this is almost true but few times I came across the situation when I was interested in barker / receptionist / waiter and I was told that he will not go with customers. In fact, that applies also to selected show boys, rarely but it does. So if we are interested and boy doesn't wear a number (number is sure sign boy is for grabs) we need to be discreet and ask boy in question or mamasan about his availability. Sometimes yes , sometimes no, at other times yes but only after bar closes or after the show. Even if unsuccessful don't give up. When passing by next time , greet the guy, force small tip on him , rinse and repeat. At one point , today or on Wednesday he may whisper " do you have a Line ?" , then you are home if you don't blow it.

    jomtien doubts

It will depend on a lot on what environment (bar or gogo) and types of guys you like, but the good news is that everything is close enough to get from one area to the other any night you want to. Just wave down and hop on a baht bus facing the direction you want and pay the 10 baht to the driver when it stops going the direction you want, it's only about 10 mins from central pattaya to jomtien in low traffic. Jomtien are host bars and massage, so guys will all be sitting in the open and you walk past while they try to pry you into their bar or shop. It can be a little less intimidating than a gogo for newcomers where 10s of guys on stage are staring at you until you bring someone down for a drink. Boyztown is a mix of gogos like dream boys, toyboys and boysboysboys (among others) and some host bars of a similar style to Jomtien but less hosts usually. A benefit i find with Boyztown is it's a lot more central and you have more at your doorstep. Sunee is really down to one gogo (for me) Winner Boys which sits down the mostly dark sunee plaza and can vary night to night but usually 5-10 guys, don't expect the big show stage of boys like in regular gogos. it's a more, umm, intimate environment and usually takes a few drinks flowing to get things interesting. If it's your first time and you have over 2 weeks, i'd split my hotel stays 50/50 between jomtien and boyztown then just take a mototaxi to sunee if you want to go. Not all guys are on the apps, it can be a good way to fill an hour to see whos around, but if you really want to see whats on offer you need to put foot to pavement anytime after about 9pm for most bars and gogos, after 1pm-ish for massage places. The bar that's best is the bar that has the guy who enticed you in for a drink, no one has the same taste as anyone else on here. Drink prices, off fees and tip expectations, just ask the guy. if the price works then go enjoy your time with them.

  23. I actually hired the greeter boy at a bar in Phuket. He was holding and waving a flag to get customers/pedestrians to come in bar. I told the manager I want to off him. It tool a while for the manager to sort it out, because this is a regular boy, not a bar boy, they need to find a replacement guy to hold his flag so I can take him.

  26. Like mavica said, nothing new but thank you for OP for reminding us about that dreadful 'dynamic conversion rate" as it is called. Banks are getting more sophisticated to catch us off guard. It happened to me once even if I was aware of what's going on. I took it as a lesson. Few times when paying for purchases with card I was not even asked if I want charge in local currency or get it converted right away, the same big No, No

  27. Haha I have another Phuket story: My BH and I were in Patong and wanted a foot massage. We go to this (mixed) massage place and duly pay for a foot massage when this buxom woman is haphazardly assigned to my BH. The woman, doing a foot massage mind you, somehow managed to get her tits on his face, hoping I'm sure for a big tip! Instead I see him turning green and I thought he was going to puke, haha. We still joke about the "Phuket Massage" years later! Oh my.

  28. Lucky me landed in Bangkok on a rainless Thursday night for a weekend fling from Singapore. It had been raining the past three nights and many streets were flooded. Hotmale Beer Bar first floor offers excellent view of the guys at new bar Sol directly facing it opposite. At any one time, about 3 to 5 boys hanging outside for smoke break or dinner when they finish their rotation on stage inside bar. White sleeveless T-shirt and red shorts with large individualised numbers printed on them (similar to sports team shorts) so punters don't have to squint at small red round buttons! Boys are mostly transfers from other bars but all are offable material. Not too old. Average next door slim types. One blonde boy with Korean style haircut was prancing around with shirt unbuttoned showing off his abs. Unfortunately, I didn't enter Sol so I can't report on show. In any case, could not off anyone as I already have longtime Vietnam guy for the night. I call him kon nuoi (godson) and he calls me cha nuoi (godpa). Many people walking up and down the street. Perhaps because rain of past few days had stopped so everyone's dying to get out. And there's a new waiter from Myanmar at Hot Male beer bar first floor. 23 years old. Very very very cute and speaks great English!

  29. From Bbc Twelve Thais have been killed and another 11 kidnapped by Palestinian Hamas militants who launched a mass assault from Gaza on Israel. Another eight Thai nationals have been injured in the violence since Saturday, said Thailand's foreign ministry. It said air force planes were on standby to fly its citizens home. There are some 30,000 Thais in Israel working in agriculture, many near the Gaza border. Nepal said 10 of its citizens had been killed.
