Lucky me landed in Bangkok on a rainless Thursday night for a weekend fling from Singapore. It had been raining the past three nights and many streets were flooded. Hotmale Beer Bar first floor offers excellent view of the guys at new bar Sol directly facing it opposite. At any one time, about 3 to 5 boys hanging outside for smoke break or dinner when they finish their rotation on stage inside bar. White sleeveless T-shirt and red shorts with large individualised numbers printed on them (similar to sports team shorts) so punters don't have to squint at small red round buttons! Boys are mostly transfers from other bars but all are offable material. Not too old. Average next door slim types. One blonde boy with Korean style haircut was prancing around with shirt unbuttoned showing off his abs. Unfortunately, I didn't enter Sol so I can't report on show. In any case, could not off anyone as I already have longtime Vietnam guy for the night. I call him kon nuoi (godson) and he calls me cha nuoi (godpa). Many people walking up and down the street. Perhaps because rain of past few days had stopped so everyone's dying to get out. And there's a new waiter from Myanmar at Hot Male beer bar first floor. 23 years old. Very very very cute and speaks great English!7 points

As @PeterRS .... With the exception of Adam's Apple and a few others, Chiang Mai's gay venues are primarily for the local population. That's true if you look at the time immediately after Covid, a year has now passed, I can only speak for Adam's Apple Club here: We now have around 50% Thai visitors (from all over the country, mainly Bangkok) and the rest is made up from 25% Asian neighboring countries and 25% Western visitors. The number of western guests is slowly but steadily increasing, I think we can make new statements after Loy Krathong (Festival of Lights) in November.5 points -

Cannot find a review here of this new place...so... SOL boy bar which is located in the premises previously occupied by Dream Boys , The latter are further along the soi. SOL is a on the ground floor , less than a minute from Fresh Boys near the mouth of Patpong, Suriwong entrance, Seems new furniture and decoration with tiered comfortable seating in front of a well lit stage. The show was ok. Nothing special but some of those in attendance seemed to enjoy it. The boys appeared to be mostly similar to those in Hot Male. Drinks @ 400 baht each, no idea the off fee. If you are in the area, no harm to check it out!2 points

Pattaya mall bolsters security measures
floridarob and one other reacted to reader for a topic
From Pattaya Mail Pattaya, Thailand – In response to the recent tragic shootings at Siam Paragon shopping centre in Bangkok, the Pattaya police, in collaboration with Central Festival Pattaya, undertook measures to strengthen security protocols and restore confidence among the local population and tourists. Pattaya City Police Chief, Pol. Col. Tanapong Poti, and Krisana Maprangon, head of the facilities management department, joined forces to conduct a comprehensive review and enhancement of security procedures within the shopping complex. Pol. Col. Tanapong underscored the critical importance of preparedness, prevention, and effective public communication. This involved a meticulous examination of the mall’s security systems, with a focus on access points and surveillance equipment. The objective is to ensure that security measures are not only efficient and up-to-date but also in place to enhance the immediate response to unforeseen events. A key facet of this initiative is the improvement of public communication. Pol. Col. Tanapong emphasized the vital role of clear and detailed communication, drawing insights from past incidents. He stated, “Efficient communication is deemed essential for conveying information rapidly and effectively, facilitating a swift and coordinated response. Moreover, the Pattaya City Police have maintained a 24-hour security presence, actively collaborating with various agencies to ensure public safety in the area.” Krisana highlighted the commitment of Central Pattaya Mall to security, stating that it closely collaborates with government agencies to guarantee the safety of customers, tourists, and employees within the shopping complex. As part of their security preparedness, Central Pattaya Mall has instituted 12 inspection points on every floor, staffed by security personnel equipped with walkie-talkies. Their responsibility is to scrutinize suspicious items before entry into the premises. Additionally, Central Pattaya Mall has established a Control and Command (CTV) room and an emergency war room for swift coordination and response during unforeseen incidents, facilitating meetings with local police officers and mall security personnel.2 points -
Security can be beefed up but can not eliminate incidents like this. A determined assailant will find a way to elude it. The media and government tend to play down events like this that have been occurring in the south of the country for years. Most are directed at police, military and teachers but that doesn't keep others from being killed and maimed on a regular basis. Tightening control of the sales of weapons has been a subject long given lip service. And Although some legislation may emerge from this incident, interest will fade as time passes. Bangkok is a mega city and top world destination. Tourists aren't going to abandon it no more than they did in the wake of the Erawan Shrine bombing in 2015 or in 2010 when Central World went up in flames. People have astonishingly short memories. Lumpinee Park was an armed camp 13 years ago but it was business as usual on Soi4, Patpong and Twilight. For better or worse, what happened this week will, too, soon be forgotten. Tourists will continue to flock to Bangkok as they always have. Many of us will be among them. ========================= Also soon to be forgotten: From The Nation The teenaged shooter who went on a fatal shooting spree on Tuesday had practised at an Army shooting range for over 20 times, police disclosed on Friday. Pol Maj-General Theeradej Thammasuthee, commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s investigation division, confirmed that the 14-year-old had practised at the Territorial Defence Shooting Range in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district. “The suspect said during police questioning that on the day before the fatal attack, he had practised shooting for more than 20 times,” the senior officer said. He noted that the shooting range is for members only and any service user aged below 18 must be accompanied by an adult member. On Tuesday afternoon, a 14-year-old boy armed with a modified blank gun fired shots at people in Siam Paragon, leaving two people dead and five others injured. A video clip being circulated on social media appears to show the teenaged shooting suspect firing a round of shots at shooting targets in a place later identified as the Territorial Defence Shooting Range. The Royal Thai Army, which runs the shooting range, found that the teenaged shooter was not a member, so it was possible he came with an adult member, a source said on Friday. An examination of video recordings from the shooting range’s security cameras over the past 10 days did not find the shooting suspect, according to the source. Staff members of the shooting range were instructed to gather information about the suspect’s use of the facility, according to the source. The Army has provided relevant information to police investigators working on the case, the source said. In a related development, the Juvenile Detention Centre has sent the shooting suspect to the Galya Rajanagarindra Institute for psychiatric evaluation and treatment at the suggestion of a doctor, Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong said on Friday. He declined to discuss the nature of the boy’s mental issues, saying that disclosing details of health conditions was against the boy’s personal rights. According to a source familiar with the matter, the teenager was sent to the Galya Rajanagarindra Institute on Thursday afternoon after the Juvenile Detention Centre concluded that a specialist’s evaluation of his mental health was needed as this was a serious criminal case.2 points

New Immigration Website for Reporting Returns to Thailand
KeepItReal and one other reacted to PeterRS for a topic
For 2 or 3 years now, anyone living and having a private residence address in Thailand who returns after a trip outside the country has had to complete a computerised TM30 form and send it to Immigration within 24 hours of arrival. This was true even before arrival cards were dispensed with. It's a total pain in the neck and I fail to understand why it is necessary! Those staying in a hotel, B&B or guesthouse do not need to complete the form since the manager of your accommodation automatically does that. Recently we were informed that the website has been changed and everyone has to re-register. As usual with official forms, I got confused by the English on the first page and failed to get beyond that. My partner is away and so I had a Thai friend help with the re-registration. It took him the better part of 20 minutes to work it all out. Immigration should have informed everyone previously registered by an email with the new website. For anyone who has not received it, the site is - https://tm30.immigration.go.th/tm30/#/login On the opening page, all you need do is click on Register and then start on the new page. You will need to upload a low resolution copy of the information page of your passport.2 points -

Are the authorities investigating the apparent lax security procedures at Siam Paragon? CCTV would show whether or not security guards were performing their duties at the entrance. SP is one of my favourite places and over all the the years I've been visiting no one has ever checked my bag - I've either walked straight past the guards or there haven't been any on duty. No doubt security will now be strengthened but as usual, it's after the horse has bolted.2 points -
Years ago Manila did have two or three gay go-go bars where the boys often stripped right off. The most 'outrageous' was the huge 690 Retiro Strip with catwalks running through the large audience area and always about 100 plus good-looking guys. I have not been to Manila for nearly two decades and I expect everything has been toned down now with nudity not permitted. Just my guess, though.2 points

Maker of modified blank guns arrested as police crack down after mall shooting by THE NATION October 5, 2023 A former convict was arrested on Thursday at his Bangkok home where he used to make modified blank guns for use with real bullets, police said. The 41-year-old suspect, identified only as Werayuth, is a resident of southern Phuket province. A search of his home in Bangkok’s Thung Khru district yielded more than 40 pistol barrels and magazines to be used with blank guns so they could fire real bullets. Police also found dozens of bullets and a small amount of “ice” crystalised methamphetamine and drug-smoking equipment. The arrest was part of a police crackdown on modified blank guns following Tuesday’s mass shooting by a 14-year-old boy at a Bangkok luxury mall, which left two people dead and five others seriously injured. The teen suspect reportedly used a modified blank gun. Assistant National Police chief Pol Lt-General Samran Nualma, who was among the officers conducting the search at the suspect’s house, said that the place was used to make blank guns fitted with pistol barrels and magazines so they could function like a real firearm. “The Metropolitan Police would conduct further investigation to determine from where the suspected gun assembler got the components and who his customers were,” Samran said. The officer also said that the suspect was among those arrested in connection with Tuesday’s mass shooting, along with two suspects from southern Yala province and another person from Bangkok’s Don Mueang area. They were being questioned at Bangkok’s Yannawa Police Station, he said. Police interrogation of Werayuth, the suspect from Bangkok’s Thung Khru district, revealed that he had finished a vocational college in Phuket many years ago and initially worked as a mechanic. His interest in BB air guns drew him into the hobby of modifying imitation guns so they could fire real bullets. The suspect made about 30,000 baht per month from selling those guns, according to police. Part of his income was spent on buying narcotics, they said. Werayuth had been arrested in 2015 for making illegal firearms and had served three years in prison. He was also jailed for possession of methamphetamine. In the latest arrest on Thursday, the suspect was charged with possession and production of illegal firearms as well as having narcotic drugs with the intent to sell. treat this as part and parcel of the whole experience. If you ignore , chances are next time you see the boy he will be as willing to see you again as if you lavish him with money transfers. If you send some money because YOU WANT and you may , since sometimes small amount for us makes difference for guy on other side don't expect anything in exchange even if he will swear this is just short term loan or next time you see him it will be free for you. Don't count on it although it may happen - few members reported such outcomes. One thing is sure - if you send money , sooner or later , next request will follow. on another hand you may be surprised how grateful boy may be. In beginning of covid debacle I learned about troubles of one Pattaya boy I liked , even if offed him only once and short time at that. So using help of my forum friend I send him exactly 111 $. He sent back to my friend picture of him holding that money, nice gesture confirming he got it and two years later he shocked me when I was passing by in soi 4 , he spotted me , recognized and thanked me for that support. So at least money not wasted thought I.2 points -

As I posted on another thread, I was at Paragon last weekend. There was no security whatever at the entrance near Siam Centre. I have also been in Silom Complex with no security at 4 entrances. None of these entrances/exits had metal detectors either. Some years ago and also during covid there was security in shopping malls. But it is certainly not common now and I do not think there is really any need for it. Paragon would require a lot of security personnel if it was to cover all the entrances. And what would they do? Search everyone? Insist on backpacks being opened if the metal detector pinged? Some time ago the MRT had guards for security checks prior to entrance to stations. But the checks on backpacks were laughable.1 point

Some may even allow very discrete feel under the table but otherwise they make sure everybody behaves. No off from there but as always , what happens before or after hours it's between guy and you. Boss is very strict and one of their most attractive guys was let go because he , by his admission , get drunk and left bar before end of his shift, not even sure it was with client. From The Nation Tough new policy will not allow public to own even BB guns Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced a strong gun policy on Thursday, saying that only officials would be authorised to possess firearms, and the public would not be allowed to own them – not even imitation weapons like BB guns. The deputy premier on Thursday presided over a meeting to review the laws governing gun ownership in Thailand, following the deadly shooting in Bangkok on Tuesday that took the lives of two foreigners and left five others injured. Several senior officials, including the director-general of the Department of Provincial Administration Attasit Samphanrat, attended the meeting. Anutin, who is also the Interior Minister, said that he had decided to entrust Attasit with looking into the rules on the use of firearms and other weapons and reporting back to him to determine which ones needed to be revised. He said he would not allow ordinary people to get a permit to own a firearm, not even imitation ones like BB guns or blank guns, as they were dangerous and needed to be regulated, “Only officials would be permitted [to possess firearms],” he said. The 14-year-old shooter reportedly used a modified blank pistol. Police investigation revealed that the teen also owned other types of weapons, like an M-16 gun and ammo. Anutin noted that anyone under the age of 18 should not be allowed to participate in shooting activities. Anyone using a gun at a shooting camp would have to leave the gun there. No one would be allowed to carry weapons outside the camp, he said.1 point -

In my opinion the article shows the boy is definitely crazy, but not insane. He knew exactly what he was doing and planned for it. We don't know why he did it, but he did it. Mental issues or not, that's just not enough an excuse. I think he needs to one way or another be locked up and stay locked up for life. ________________________________________________________ 3 arrested for selling blank gun, ammo to teen shooter by Wassayos Ngamkham and Online Reporters October 5, 2023 Three men were separately arrested in Yala and Bangkok for allegedly selling firearms, including a blank gun, and ammunition to a 14-year-old boy who went on a shooting rampage inside Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon. The incident left two foreign nationals dead and five others wounded. A team of investigators from the Provincial Police Region 9 apprehended two of the three suspects at a house in tambon Sateng of Muang district in Yala at around 1am on Thursday. Suwananhong Phramkhanajarn, 45, and his 22-year-old son Akkharawit Jaithong were wanted on arrest warrants issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court for colluding in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and selling firearms and ammunition without permission. Seized from the house were 209 rounds of ammunition for blank guns, 33 metal parts, two bank accounts, nine magazines and other items. The two men were being taken to Bangkok for questioning. The third suspect, Piyabut Pianpithak, 30, was arrested in Bangkok. The arrests came after Pol Lt Gen Thiti Saengsawang, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, ordered Yannawa police to gather evidence and seek court approval for issuing warrants against the three individuals involved in the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition. A police investigation found that the 14-year-old boy contacted an online gun seller, expressing his interest in firearms, and they had online conversations. However, the suspect hesitated about obtaining a real gun due to the relatively high price. He then placed an order for 9mm bullets a cost of 1,000 baht and transferred the money for the purchase. A few days later, he rreceived a parcel at his condominium room in Sathon district, which contained real bullets. The teen subsequently ordered a modified blank gun, later used in the deadly shooting at the shopping mall. The investigation also found that the suspect lacked sufficient funds to acquire the blank gun. He then borrowed money through an online money lending application and later transferred 16,000 baht to the seller, who later sent the gun to his condo. During questioning, Mr Suwannahong and Mr Akkharawit denied all charges. A police source said the teenager had transferred the money to Mr Suwannahong’s bank account, and the man later withdrew the funds at an ATM booth at a petrol station in Yala. It was revealed that Mr Akkharawit was running a Facebook page to sell firearms online. The page had been opened for about five months before being shut down around 10.20 pm on the day of the shooting rampage. Mr Piyabut was involved as he sold and sent 9mm bullets to the teenager. Chaos erupted at Siam Paragon on Rama 1 Road in Pathum Wan district close to peak hours on Tuesday, with hundreds fleeing as gunshots rang out. The dead were two women from China and Myanmar. The teenager was arrested late on Tuesday shortly after the shooting spree. Maj Gen Samran Nuanma said the suspect had modified a gun designed for firing blank rounds to enable it to use live ammunition. The boy facing murder and other charges has been remanded to a juvenile detention centre where he will undergo a psychiatric assessment. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2658098/3-arrested-for-selling-blank-gun-ammunition-to-teen-shooter1 point -

These stories always make me want to roll my eyes. 🙄 Do we have a bunch of men who want money to just fall on them because they're good-looking? This comes straight out of the article: "Barrett Pall, a former model turned life coach and activist, said he felt pressured into attending an event in the Hamptons in 2011. Then 22, he said he was recruited by an older model, who received a referral fee, to be his "replacement" for "some sort of sexual experience" with the couple. He said he felt obliged to comply as the older man had been supporting him financially and he felt indebted. Like the other men, he said initially he attended a "test run" with Mr Jacobson. Mr Pall said the older model told him that "you don't have to do anything you don't want to do" but suggested that "the further you go, the better", and alluded to career opportunities. When he arrived at the event, he said he felt under pressure to "perform". "How was I going to leave? I didn't have a car," he said. "I had a chaperone sitting and watching me."...". Well, sir, you were a grown man who knew exactly what "some sort of sexual experience" meant. If you consented, you may have done so financial reasons, but you were a consenting adult nonetheless. New flash: a lot of people wouldn't go to work if they weren't being paid either. You were not a child. You were not drugged. This was a Saturday afternoon, apparently. You didn't have a car? Poor baby. Maybe you could do what the vast majority of New Yorkers/Long Island residents do: take the Long Island Railroad if you were late in understanding what "some sort of sexual experience" meant. And he makes his living being a life coach now? Please.1 point

I'm curious about the belief that people are generally on a spectrum when it comes to sexual desire... so some men are happy to have gay sex in some situations, but generally are straight... while some others are truly repulsed.... and vice versa.... I remember an American co-worker in Europe telling us in a bar how much he liked licking another guy's asshole, but the thought of licking a women's vagina was disgusting...and people at a nearby table exchanging glances. It's been my impression straight guys in some countries are more willing to do male escorting than straight guys in other countries. I noticed that Canada did not make the top ten which was kind of surprising, but also not surprising. My feeling is Canadians are more conformist than some countries... ie the United States, and more reluctant to step out from what's considered normal, even if they would like to.1 point

Adams Apple remains closed - it was the closest to a boy bar with boys in briefs and shows - Orion Bar and Ram Bar remain open in Soi 6 of the night bazaar - the former has a few freelancers at various times whilst Ram is better known for its cabaret show. There are several host bars in CM but mainly mixed venues - Route 181, Pose Club, Maya Club, Barocco. These venues don't really kick.off until 11pm. Usually 20+ lads on stage - and you pay around 250 thb per hour for them to sit and drink with you. Whiskey bottle with free mixers 1500 thb. These venues definitely not like Screwboys or HotMale in Bangkok but the lads can be fun and attentive.1 point

Chiang Mai Boy Bars
moistmango reacted to PeterRS for a topic
Chiang Mai remains a beautiful city to visit and there are lots of gay boys around. But as @macaroni21 has just pointed out the bar/massage scene is a mere shadow of its former self even eight or so years ago. Well over 70 gay venues have closed for good in that time, most pre-covid. Apart from the points made above by @billyhouston, the main bars now are a cluster of small host bars found in one smallish soi virtually across the main road from Le Meridien Hotel - often named Gay Soi 6. We last visited pre-covid in November 2019 and so the info is out of date but we found these bars very boring. The few working boys seemed interested only in locals and their phones. More so than in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thai gay guys in Chiang Mai do not seek to mix with foreigners. In the evenings they tend to go in groups to mixed clubs. If you are with a Thai, you might meet up with other Thai gays there. But if you go on your own you will almost certainly find mixing with Thais very difficult - partly because few will speak much English. Elsewhere, many of the commercial sex workers are not Thai but come from the Burmese border Shan State. At least that is what we found. You may find it easier to meet up with Thai guys in the two gay saunas, although I'm told that even there there will be some evenings with very few customers. But then of course there will be boys available on the apps.1 point -

I don't remember Classic House as a place for hunky masseurs, but then my last visit for maybe 5 - 6 years ago and things change. Overall, Chiang Mai's gay bar scene for visitors has been in decline for 25 years or more and I am hardly surprised that there are few attractions left. There may still exist gay bars for locals, but these are drinking and dancing places where friends go together for a night out... not the kind of place to see nude performances or take escorts out. Or speak much English. In short, my view is that Chiang Mai is worth going only if you're into cultural attractions. Not for its virtually non-existent gay scene. The other thing to beware of if you're visiting in summer is the mid-day temperature. It can get scorching hot in the day, yet without much relief in the evenings. Even when the rains come (starting in June perhaps), it doesn't get significantly cooler, it only gets more humid.1 point -

no idea what place Z909 has in mind but is you are looking for hunky masseurs I can recommend Classic House which I patronized happily in Dec over 4 days , different massage boy every day including 4 hands on last one. One of them visited me in the room as well and other agreed to spent 3 nights with me so obviously I was happy with the place1 point
