  3. These days seats are difficult to come by. But I did just book Bangkok to Washington using Avianca Lifemiles on THAI and United via Zurich. 90K miles plus $100 taxes and fees for one way business class is probably about the best you can get these days on this route. The problem is that they are difficult to find. I had to book a ticket paying cash for the outbound to get to Thailand - but Kuwait Airways is starting a new route to IAD in December so they have some good deals. I booked one way business class for about $2800 connecting in Kuwait of course. ANA's program has a distance based award chart still. I think from DC to BKK is about 95K miles (business class) in their program but seats are tough to find. There is a site called awardnexus.com that allow you to do a search by airline alliance but it is very slow. This site called travelcodex has a chart that shows how many miles are required to book flights between a city pair on various programs. I am not sure how up to date the information is though. https://www.travelcodex.com/award-maximizer/ They also have "tips and tricks" https://www.travelcodex.com/tips-tricks-and-useful-tools-for-award-travel/ It's very US-centric though. There are also award booking services that will do it for you - for a fee of course. But it might be worthwhile. I know there used to be another similar site but I can't remember what it's called. Personally I just spend a lot of time searching on my own. I have a big stash of Avianca miles because they are relatively cheap to buy in bulk. But it is definitely more difficult to find seats than it used to be. I search their site for Star Alliance airlines. I search American Airlines for OneWorld flights. I search FlyingBlue/AirFrance for Skyteam, but they usually want a crazy amount of miles and lots of money for their tickets. I will also search Delta and Alaska since I have a decent number of miles in those accounts. Those of us in the US are lucky in that you can accumulate lots of transferrable credit card points which can be moved to many different programs. The various air miles blogs can be helpful. I have been reading onemileatatime for a long time. https://onemileatatime.com/guides/ I don't think there's any magic bullet. You just have to poke around doing searches in the various programs.

Name is SOL. Signage is not good. Opening night, No touts, No flowers No sign of a Grand Opening. , No idea what was going on. I barely saw a customer go in till 10pm. Nobody could even say if their was a show or not. He needs to put Marketing high on his list. Let’s see what happens with quiet Sunday and Monday coming up. I’ll try to get a peek inside.

    Sunee Plaza Update

Today, I was bored a bit and headed to Winner Boy Bar in Sunee Plaza expecting it to be dead! But was pleasantly surprised to see there were about 8 go-go boys and about the same number of customers both inside and outside. Seems that those who enjoy twink types have found a niche to enjoy. Friends have also recently visited the nearby Nice Boy Bar and also enjoyed their visit.

    Picking a BF

I told a few of the massage boys I was looking for a BF and not a massage and they have all been telling me how they are gay and love me and want to live with me and be the boyfriend. One high at the top is a boy I love watching getting fucked and fucking others. He is from Laos and just loves sex. But, little English. Another is a Thai lad. But, looking forward to seeing who comes out of the woodworks in the coming months.

  7. Went to Nice Boys Fri night.....had about 10 anorexic looking guys and 2 or 3 decent ones. A group of Europeans came in and put money on the table for the first 3 to cum. One of the guys that came 2nd, was interesting to me, but after he nutted, He looked spent and uninterested ( I can relate)...so much for that. X-Boys were in underwear and they had about 3 or 4 performers that were dancing around naked, not hard. I was interested in one, but apparently not gay and not offable, wtf? I can't remember if Dream Boys were in underwear or not....some might have been, but can't be sure. Tomorrow is my last night, no stand out massages or sex to report on, pretty lame time in Pattaya this trip. I went to Sansuk sauna tonight for my first time ever....was much nicer than I expected based on reviews. About 80 people mixed ages, nothing wow, but I hooked up and got off.

I am on various apps, one of which, and I can't remember which, told me BA had suddenly opened up more Avios seats to Sydney. I only had 30 mins, but booked a business class seat, Sydney return, normally very rare, for reduced Avios.

  15. Allied to this topic, i find there is almost nothing worse when on a beach holiday than to go to the seating area and find all the loungers either occupied (usually just a few) and the others with unfurled towels, books and other paraphernalia to 'book' them for later use. If at a hotel I cannot count the number of times I have registered complaints and nothing is done. The same happens around swimming pools. Sometimes, the selfish idiots who have 'bagged' these chairs decide not even to use them. They return a few hours later just to retrieve their belongings. If seating/loungers are for use by all guests, personal items placed to 'bag' seats should be removed and placed in a location where they can be later retrieved.

  18. From The Thaiger Suvarnabhumi International Airport, governed by Airports of Thailand (AoT), is set to soft-launch its Satellite 1 (SAT-1) terminal on September 28, following a successful full-scale trial involving 180 mock passengers and their luggage. The trial aimed to evaluate operations at both the SAT-1 satellite passenger terminal and the primary terminal, with Thai Airways offering assistance by supplying cabin crew and aircraft for the process. Kittipong Kittikachorn, the Director of Suvarnabhumi, stated that the trial encompassed a comprehensive operation involving aircraft, incoming and outgoing passengers, transfer passengers, baggage handling systems, and cargo operations. The Immigration Division 2, the Cargo Clearance Customs Bureau, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand and Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services were also present to oversee the operations, he added. Kittipong also revealed that two additional trials are scheduled for the coming days, with Thai AirAsia X and Worldwide Flight Services Bangkok Air Ground Handling Co Ltd conducting one on Tuesday, and Thai Vietjet conducting another on September 20. The latter trial is specifically designed for departing passengers on night flights. The director further elaborated that between September 28 and October 28, the SAT-1 terminal will be open to three airlines: Thai AirAsia X, VietJet Air, and Emirates, during the soft-opening phase. The new terminal is projected to be fully operational by December this year, ultimately providing a solution to reduce congestion at the main terminal. The SAT-1 terminal, which has a capacity of handling 15 million passengers annually, will enable Suvarnabhumi Airport to cater to up to 60 million passengers a year, marking a significant 33% increase. The terminal boasts 28 contact gates, with eight specifically designed to accommodate Code F aircraft (the double-decker A380 superjumbo jets) and the remaining 20 for Code E aircraft (Boeing B747s). The terminal’s four-storey facility spans a total floor area of 216,000 square metres, with two underground floors dedicated to hosting the Automated People Mover (APM) train system and other systems. The APM train system, designed to connect the SAT-1 and the existing passenger terminal, can accommodate 210 passengers per train, or roughly 6,000 passengers per hour. Each trip on the train, which has a maximum speed of 80kph, takes a mere three minutes, Kittikachorn added. The commencement of the SAT-1 terminal will eliminate the need for international passengers to take shuttle buses to their gates, boosting convenience and efficiency, reports Bangkok Post.

  19. From the Associated Press By YUCHENG TANG BANGKOK (AP) — Xinyu Wen traveled to Thailand in June, planning a two-week vacation around Bangkok's Pride parade. Instead, the 28-year-old stayed a month and a half, as her experience at the parade gave rise to discussions and discoveries in the Thai capital's thriving LBGTQ+ community. LGBTQ+ people from China, frequently scorned and ostracized at home, are coming to Thailand in droves, drawn by the freedom to be themselves. When Wen walked along the parade on the streets in Bangkok, “I felt like I was in a big party or a huge amusement park. We could forget all upsetting things and feel fun-filled,” she said. Bangkok is only a 5-hour flight from Beijing, and Thailand’s tourism authorities actively promote its status as among the most open to LGBTQ+ people in the region. Wen got interested in Thailand when her friend sent her a photo of rainbow-colored, Pride-themed ice cream being sold on the streets. “I wanted to go to Thailand to take a look,” she said. Wen describes herself as queer, which she says means that her partners can be any gender and she can be any gender. At home, Wen said she regularly gets judgmental stares on the street for wearing her hair short like a man’s, and was once asked by her barber: “What happened to your life?” But at the Bangkok Pride parade in June, Wen noticed people confidently wore what they wanted. She was excited to be able to express herself publicly and finally drop her guard. More than that, she said she was also impressed by the protest element to the event, in which people carried signs written in traditional Chinese with slogans like “China has no LGBTQ” and “Freedom is what we deserve.” “I felt a mixed feeling, touched but sad,” she said. Ahead of her trip, she read up on the situation in Thailand, finding reports that showed there is still widespread discrimination, especially in the workplace. Thailand does not recognize same-sex unions or marriages, which also means they're barred from adopting children, and other legal processes that straight couples have access to. Wen arrived at the parade somewhat skeptical. But she ended up finding it empowering. “Although I initially had a critical attitude toward the parade in Bangkok because discrimination against LGBTQ individuals hasn't disappeared, I still felt inspired because the neglected groups and the suppressed feelings matter here.” Owen Zhu, a gay real estate agent in Bangkok who sells houses to Chinese clients, said many are also coming to stay. He estimated some 2/3 of his clients are LGBTQ+, many of whom buy apartments to live in part- or full-time. “Among Chinese gay people, Thailand is called gay’s heaven,” he said, noting that there are many chat groups where gay men from China coordinate trips to Thailand and share information about parties and tickets to events.

  20. I really hate seeing DOM taking advantage of the waiters. In Silver Sand Soi 4 there is a geriatric Australian wearing a black and white button down shit and white shorts who can’t stand straight at 7:30 pm and keeps sticking his hand up the asses of the waiters as he stumbles around dancing on the terrace. I sure hope he isn’t an esteemed member of this group. The waiters look so uncomfortable and it is certainly disgusting to watch.

My apologies if you feel offended by my comment. It was not my intention. When you arrive, you will notice that Thais are of somewhat smaller frame , even impressively muscled will be likely quite shorter than average farang. No idea what Simpson said about me but whatever it was I always console myself with elder Trudeau of Canada wisdom who commented on some Nixon slur about him " I was called worse things by better people ". Apologies again

  29. A good proportion of Thais, especially in urban areas, have some mix of Chinese ancestry. There's been steady immigration for centuries. I think this genetic factor is at least as important than "working in the fields" in accounting for differences in complexion among various provinces. Certainly the Lanna Thais in the Chiang Mai area are nearly as light coloured as the Chinese.

  35. travel between the regions should cost the same number of miles in either direction. The beauty of alliances is that you can credit your miles to any member of the alliance. So I can credit my ANA flights to Avianca or Air Canada or United or whoever. Although because things change so fast in this world crediting to the "best" program today may not be the best choice in the future. There's an old saying in the points and miles game that you should "earn and burn" i.e. use your miles and points as fast you can. But it's not practical for most people and it takes a while to accumulate enough miles for an award redemption. These days most of the programs will sell you miles and frequently offer bonuses. Avianca for example often offers 150% bonuses. So if you buy 100,000 miles you get 250,000. The catch is that you will pay about US$3000 for those 250,000 points. IF you can find a seat this could be a decent value. For example my 90,000 mile business class award essentially costs about $1000 in such a scenario. If I were paying cash for this ticket my guess is that it would cost $4000 or so, maybe more. However I will say that if you are willing to fly in economy there are a lot more available seat options. The Lifemiles program for example seems to always have plenty of economy seats on the route I search most (IAD-BKK) for 47K points one way. But if you want business class your options will be more limited. Fewer flights and more people willing to pay cash for fewer business class seats means they don't make as many available. If you are flexible enough to travel more last-minute there can be better availablity options. For example if I wanted to fly to Tokyo next week there are many business class options on ANA and United for 90K miles.

  37. I've been quite surprised in my last 2-3 visits to Thailand of how much popular Chinese guys are on gay apps. Not just on Blued but even on Grindr which tend to be more used by Thais looking for Westerners, I see every time profiles with "Looking for Chinese only" on them. Have to agree though that a large number of Chinese guys coming from big cities from a middle or upper-middle-class background can be quite sexy and attractive. They definitely take care of themselves and their bodies.

In fact I started dancing in jomtien last time I was there carried a boy on my shoulders doing squats , you aren't here long enjoy life I'm 60 I would rather see a old guy dancing than sitting there miserable at a bar table as I walk past all with sour looks on their face Better than the old wannabees miserable looking farangs I used to see in Sunee years ago , thankfully most have died off.

Those who get -up later would be amazed by the number of people who do the same....some joggers, many walkers. This is at 0700 when it is cool and the roads are quiet. I have a canine friend who greets me daily near the gay-beach and with whom I'm always happy to converse. Good preparation for breakfast. And for health.

  42. Always like to see people starting a wide-ranging discussion thread Premv3. However, as this board is very Thailand focused, it will be interesting to see how many options you get - I think for many it will be Bangkok, Pattaya, Bangkok, Pattaya.... And to be honest I was a bit intimidated by the range and exoticism of your list, LOL. Nevertheless is my list, based on my comparatively restricted travels 1 - Bangkok - Jupiter and Moonlight for gogo bars, and Arena for massage (I go for more hunky guys). In general the range of body types and venues is so varied, and the feeling of safety in the city so good, for the size of it. 2-Pattaya - Boyztown for a Gogo bars, and Jomtien for picking up a guys in the host bar. (I never made much of an effort with the apps in Thailand, as it is so easy to hire "in the flesh" so to speak). 3. Barcelona, and the Thermas sauna. The guys might be of variable physical qualities, but for getting a big bunch of guys in the one place, and for a very reasonable pricing, it’s hard to beat Thermas. 4 . Athens- For finding people on apps (in particular, Hunqz), the best place I found was the Greek capital. Plenty of guys and very reasonable prices. Athens was I found sort of the opposite of Bangkok, in that I found trying to meet guys in hustler bars was not that great, so I shopped on the apps there. You can see my reviews of Athens for further details. Other places we have hired include Istanbul and London. However, although I was happy enough with the guys I got there, I couldn’t really recommend either city as being particularly good for hiring (although both are great in other ways). In London, guys on the apps are a bit too expensive to consider it a "destination" city for escorts. The Villa Giani is worth checking out, although i never actually hired from there. In Istanbul, I visited the Aquarius Sauna, and hired from apps. The Aquarius was a bit grim, and I found that the guys on the Hunqz app a bit expensive, considering it was Turkey.

  44. From Thailand News Agency BANGKOK, Sept 4 (TNA) – Bangkok is closely monitoring cases of Monkeypox as the number of infections continues to rise. Deputy Bangkok governor Tavida Kamolvej revealed the current situation of Monkeypox in the city. In August, there was an increase in Monkeypox cases within the Bangkok metropolitan area compared to July and June. In August alone, there were approximately 80 reported cases. The data indicates that these cases are primarily concentrated in areas popular among tourists. In Bangkok, there are various networks and groups actively addressing this issue, such as Swing Thailand and Rainbow Sky, working together to provide accurate information. Additionally, if any cases arise, the authorities are quick to respond by cleaning and ensuring clear communication to promote understanding. The latest news has shown that the infected individuals are predominantly young, with many falling into the adolescent age group. While this trend is observed nationwide, the youngest confirmed case in Bangkok is 18 years old. Bangkok also houses the BKK Pride Clinic, a diverse sexual health clinic located within the public health service centers, to address the healthcare needs of the LGBTQ+ community, she said. (TNA)

  46. Only four of the scheduled airlines which were flying A380s pre-covid have not so far brought them back into service - Air France, China Southern, Malaysia and THAI. Not all the delivered aircraft are flying, but a good many more than anyone expected even a couple of years ago. THAI should never have bought them in the first place! It already had more than enough capacity on its 747-400 fleet which it continued operating until 2020, considerably longer than almost all other scheduled airlines. JAL retired its 747-400 fleet in 2011, Singapore Airlines in 2012, ANA in 2014, and Cathay Pacific its entire fleet in 2016. So TG did not need the additional roughly 100 seat capacity that it offered on its individual A380s, the more so when these extra seats were almost all in the cheaper economy cabins. When purchased, the airline only increased the number of high revenue-generating seats in first and business class by a mere 8 more than on its 747-400s. They had no premium economy cabin. Re THAI's plan to sell their six aircraft, in January this year Emirates purchased a second hand 14-year old A380 from a leasing company for US$30.5 million. It was actually an aircraft Emirates was already flying and so it was aware it was in perfect condition. That's roughly the amount it would cost THAI to get each of its A380s properly maintained and ready to fly again. Effectively, therefore, the value of each THAI A380 is now pretty close to US$0!

  47. Bangkok could have kept its status as a hub connecting incoming travellers from Europe, Japan, Korea, China, India and Australia to various destinations in southeast Asia and to each other of these further regions. If it had, Thai would have had good use of the A380s. Basically, Thai failed to keep up with its regional competitors such as Singapore Airlines. The latter flies 14 A380s according to a quick websearch I did. It just shows how bad the management of Thai has been.
