  3. ... putting it very mildly, and not just because of the language. Are you sure you can handle the potential boredom of small-town life? Also, the land route from Songkhla to Padang Besar takes you into "FCDO advises against all but essential travel" territory. To satisfy the need for regular visits to Malaysia, you might be better off living in Bangkok and flying to KL or Penang. (it might even be quicker!)

  4. From The Thaiger After a discussion with the Thai Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Srettha Thavisin, Thai Airways (THAI) is planning to increase its flights to China from 25 flights to 35 flights a week in response to the free visa policy for Chinese tourists. Srettha announced after the meeting with the Association of Domestic Travel (ADT) that the government planned to extend temporary visa exemptions to Chinese tourists during Thailand’s high tourist season. The policy is expected to start from October 1 onwards, marking a first for Thailand in waiving visa requirements for Chinese visitors. The 61 year old Thai PM then discussed the policy with the Chief Executive Officer of the THAI, Chai Sri-iam, yesterday, September 11. Chai stated that the airline is pleased to cooperate with the government and would increase its flights to handle the increasing number of Chinese travellers. Chai reported that the airline had a plan to increase flights to China from 25 flights per week to 35 flights scheduled to officially be in effect on December 1 of this year. The expanded flight schedule encompasses the following details: Bangkok Beijing: Elevating from six to seven flights per week, starting December 1. Bangkok-Kunming: Elevating from three to seven flights per week, starting December 1. Bangkok-Chengdu: Elevating from two to seven flights per week, starting December 1. Bangkok-Shanghai: Maintaining 7 flights per week from October 29, 2023 to March 30, 2024. Bangkok-Guangzhou: Maintaining 7 flights per week from October 29, 2023 to March 30, 2024. According to the increasing number of flights to China, the airline also announced earlier that it planned to reintroduce nine domestic flights after its subsidiary, Thai Smile Airways, is going to be closed down and merged with THAI. The nine additional routes will connect Bangkok to nine provinces, including Krabi, Khon Kaen, Phuket, Narathiwas, Chaing Mai, Chaing Rai, Haad Yai, Udon Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani.

  5. crude attempt of making fun of me , right ? But answer is NO because I don't use a wallet. When boy comes , whatever is in my pockets stays there, whatever is locked , stays locked. I find awkward using opening or closing safety box in boy's presence and try to be prepared not to.

  6. Hi, I would never show a photo of their face that I took or in a compromising way. I highlighted Facebook posts of a group and suggested that they might be available. You may be correct, I can't tell but that's a reason to use a pseudonym when I post. My name, of course isn't Paborn. I got my current boyfriend this way. I started by friending, his yes was a good sign but not conclusive. I commented on his posts working up from smiles to comments. it was months before I contacted him and now he is with me as my live in on my trips. He has a job which leaves me free time. I'm older so I have graduated to wanting a steady guy. But his job allows for daytime play. I have another two talking to me and ready for my trip in October. Thanks for confirming my compensation - 40/50 is good. My boyfriend works 10 hrs a day , six day a week for $249 a month!! $50 goes a long way . In the end you're right, of course, but I claim nothing about anyone . I have never seen any of these guys in Marlowe's. Have you been to ESEDEKU? I have not been in years?

  8. Thank You. Yes I am, not so much an orgy, just a nice evening with a couple of twinks who will allow me to cum while I enjoy watching them in privacy. Where is the best place to select such participants.... It would seem 'apps' are not the best way, which is good to know. Makes a lot of sense, Thank You. I don't speak a word of Thai but hubby is fluent and we have a very large extended family from Penang all the way to Hat Yai to help us along the way. Small town life is exactly what we want when we are not going away for a weekend party We will be travelling with extended family when doing any travel between Hay Yai/Songkhla so I am not too worried This is a bit of genius advice, thanks.

  9. This will be a good test of new PM's clout. It's a given the Chinese will get 30-day exemption. If he can get 90-days for others before high season, it will help solidify his position early in his term.

  10. Songkhla is the state where hatyai city is located. There is a direct train from padang besar border to hatyai. Hatyai is a popular tourist destination for most malaysians. And if his hubby stays in penang, id say its much easier to meet from hatyai than bangkok and much cheaper too. Direct flight between bangkok and penang is scarce and expensive, and the alternative with a stop at KL will certainly not be quicker. I know someone who lives in penang and travel to hatyai almost once a month. If u have to choose a place in southern thailand to stay, hatyai, songkhla makes sense.

  13. From Thailand News Agency BANGKOK, Sept 12 (TNA) – A transvestite has been arrested for drugging and robbing male victims across Bangkok. Preying on men, Mr. Apichart or Ping Ping used drugs to incapacitate them before robbing them of their possessions and vehicles. Some victims were subjected to physical harm while resisting the effects of the drugs. This wicked plan involved lacing Clonazepam pills into their drinks. Pol. Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau ordered a thorough investigation lasting over two months. The culprits were eventually apprehended while attempting to flee across border to a neighbouring country. The suspect confessed to commit the crimes 2-3 times a month and was found to work for a Taiwanese boss, who is the head of a call center gang, based in the neighbouring country. Authorities have charged the suspect with robbery during the nighttime. They have also confiscated several items, including six identity cards belonging to others, believed to be used for fraudulent purposes, six mobile phones, cash, and Clonazepam. (TNA)

  14. Crimes like burglary and robbery that take place at night are generally considered more serious and incur much harsher penalties than those that take place during the day when homeowners are much less likely to be home. Charging and penalties vary in different jurisdictions.

  22. Been there, done that, back in 2001, though I don't suppose it's changed much since. If the river level was low, some of the older wooden boats took three days in the upstream direction. In that case, instead of the relative metropolis of Pakbeng you get to stay in two tiny no-name villages. The trip had its moments... Late on the first afternoon we met another boat identical to ours, which had hit a sandbank and sunk. So we stopped for a couple of hours while our boat's crew helped the other crew to rescue their cargo. By the time we moved on, it was dark. Very dark. Those boats have no lights and we now knew that apparently even an experienced crew can run aground, even in broad daylight. It was a welcome relief when we reached Village #1. The evening meal was noodles or rice; breakfast was rice or noodles. The "hotel" was a row of mats. When we reached Pakbeng at midday the following day I chose to leave the wooden boat and complete the journey on a (slightly) faster and stronger steel boat the following day. Meanwhile I enjoyed the UNESCO world heritage delights of Pakbeng: choice of guest houses! private rooms! beds! choice of restaurants! choice of food! electric light (until 9pm)! Slower than usual slow boat up the Mekong. Pakbeng Luang Prabang

  27. From Pattaya News Pattaya City has come up with tougher regulations to address issues related to speedboat operators at Bali Hai Pier, including the introduction of standard ticket prices and the ban on “herding” guests. On Thursday, September 7th, the Pattaya City Council assembled to devise strategies for organizing and overseeing tour boat operators, following a violent altercation among operators vying for guests aboard a boat to Koh Larn from Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya. Most importantly, the city eventually ruled that from now on tour boat operators will be prohibited from approaching and herding tourists who are looking for a boat to Koh Larn. Essentially, they used the word herding to describe pressure selling customers to speed boats versus allowing customers to approach a ticket queue. To tackle confusing ticket fares, the council has also established fixed and standard ticket prices for boat trips to Koh Larn as follows: From Bali Hai Pier to Na Baan Pier: 150 baht for a one-way trip per person, 300 baht for a round-trip per person. From Bali Hai Pier to Tawaen Beach: 200 baht for a one-way trip per person, 300 baht for a round-trip per person. Boat charter prices: For 12 passengers with one-engine boat, the rate is set at 2,800 baht (up from 2,500 baht). For a two-engine boat, the rate is set at 4,500 baht. The operators have signed an agreement with the council to follow the above regulations at the meeting. Violation will lead to a suspension of business operations at the pier for 7 days for the first offense, 15 days for the second, and 1 month for the third.

  30. As of tonight . There is a gogo opening across from Hot Male in old DreamBoys location. Scheduled to open next week or possibly week after. There was music coming from inside, but no activity thru the front door so you couldn’t see what was going on . Told that they were having practice tonight. Owner is Chinese and reportedly paid a lot of baht for the place. Stopped by Screwboys for a few minutes. About 20 guys working and some head turners. Working the crowd, they wanted offs. Some got them just before show time. Wearing white shorts and basketball jersey tops. Good crowd. Almost full. Actually I think the crowds were pretty decent both in Soi 4 and Patpong 2 Other side of Patpong, I noticed the stalls were down to Surawong. I left around midnight but noticed the fine dining of Foodland was quite busy.

  31. NOTE -- PM Srettha Thavisin announced that he's skipping the ASEAN meeting and will send a designee in his place. Certainly avoids antagonizing Myanmar junta. From CNBC Southeast Asian nations must adopt a cohesive position on Myanmar’s civil conflict and the ASEAN summit is a chance for leaders to “recalibrate,” Marty Natalegawa, Indonesia’s former foreign minister told CNBC. “I get the sense that ASEAN is at a loss for ideas … one can speak with eloquence about one individual member state’s wish to happen in Myanmar. But first and foremost, we need to have a common ASEAN position,” he told CNBC’s JP Ong on “Street Signs Asia.” The 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit kicked off in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Tuesday, with Myanmar’s political crisis and the South China Sea disputes set to dominate discussions. The 10-nation bloc is made up of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This is the second year in a row that Myanmar was not invited to the regional meeting, following the military coup in February 2021 which saw its elected leader Nobel peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi ousted from power. Natalegawa said that while it is commendable the junta is excluded from the meetings, ASEAN member states have become “a little bit divided” over the past year in addressing Myanmar’s prolonged civil strife. The bloc has long operated on the principle of non-interference to ensure sovereignty of member states, but some countries urged the bloc to take bolder action. Malaysia, for example, called for the imposition of “strong” measures against Myanmar’s ruling generals, according to a Reuters report last month. “At the moment, I’m reminded more about the divisions rather than the unity … this is not only a litmus test for ASEAN, but in my view is an existential threat to ASEAN,” Natalegawa added. Another issue that could test the ability of ASEAN to act as a cohesive bloc is the dispute in the South China Sea. “Some ASEAN member states in dispute feel that they are not being provided a common ASEAN home, so as if they are left on their own devices to deal with this issue,” said Natalegawa. Just last week, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam rejected China’s latest South China Sea map, which denoted its claims to sovereignty. The new map of its heavily contested U-shaped line cuts into the exclusive economic zones of Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.

  32. When we talk about Laos and poverty, we should never forget that the country was all but destroyed by war - an undeclared war by the United States. The 1962 Agreement on the Neutrality of Laos was signed by the USA, the Soviet Union, China, Vietnam and 10 other countries. Yet that did not stop the USA from starting a covert undeclared war against the country, a war run by the CIA taking orders not from Congress but from the White House. In the years from 1964, the USA dropped a planeload of bombs on this poor landlocked country every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, for nine years - 580,000 bombing runs. Can any of us imagine what that must have been like? Most of those were cluster bombs of the type now banned by many countries. It is estimated that 30% or 80 million bombs did not explode, but they continue to do so, maiming and killing 20,000 Lao people since the bombing officially ended, many of them children. Initially, the bombers came from U-Tapao airbase in Thailand which had been leased to the USA. Soon they were coming from aircraft carriers off the coast of Vietnam. The number of planes which failed to drop their full load of bombs on Vietnam could not land on a carrier with bombs on board. So they just flew a few extra miles and dropped them indiscriminately over Laos. Unsurprisingly, Laos became the most bombed nation in history per had of population - with more bombs dropped than during the entirety of WW2. If any nation requires international aid to recover from that absolute disgrace, it is surely Laos.

  33. As has been noted in other threads, the world in general is much more welcoming for gay visitors than it was even a couple of decades ago. Many potential tourists have already been to Thailand more than once and done Thai temples and other cultural elements that the Tourism Authority of Thailand think should interest visitors. I have gay friends for whom a beach is the priority. They are tired of Phuket which has become expensive and overrun with tourists. They now prefer to visit the Maldives or Sri Lanka. They have also discovered Vietnam's beaches which in many cases are better and cleaner than those in Thailand, especially in the central area. The increasing availability of gay guys also makes Vietnam very attractive. I believe younger gay tourists have different priorities from those of us who loved coming to Thailand 20, 30 and 40 years ago.

  38. Well! Well! Well! After Thailand Elite decided just 3 weeks ago that ordinary members with their 5 year Easy Access membership would have the right to upgrade by 15 more years for a further 500,000 baht (or 400,000 for those who had paid the increased 600,000 initial fee introduced last year) and gave members a strict deadline of 4:30pm today, there was a near riot among members. The addtional implication that the cash had to be transferred to Thailand Elite on the same date and time created more havoc as many members are on family vacations outide the country. Later, it was announced the payment could be delayed by around 3 months. Now, on this the deadline day for applications, Thailand Elite has finally realised its actions gave not only ridiculously short notice, they may have been illegal. Accordingly, today within hours of the deadline an email letter has been sent from the company running the scheme, Thailand Privilege Company, admitting it had upset many members. Therefore, it has changed the prevously announced policy. Easy Access 5 year members will now not have to decide whether or not to upgrade until three months prior to the end of their current membership period. In my case, that means I can delay a decision until April 2025. After all the shenanigans of having to transfer cash, fill in a mutitude of forms and obtain other photocopies and photos in order to meet today's deadline, this is not only a huge slap in the face to current members, it is a massive climbdown by TPC. As one contributor to the Thailand Elite Visa Members Group wrote, "Clowns!"

    TAWAN MUSCLE BAR

I wish to post an update on Tawan. I have spent quite a long time looking at many of the posts on this thread. Yes, it is in a much smaller venue now. I was there a couple of weeks ago. It was fairly full, but I guess it would be crowded in high season. I understand that there are 2 shows. Some of the guys are certainly bodybuilders, but there is a wide variety of body types. There are naked posing routines as well as fucking shows I was approached by one bodybuilder after his routine and he asked me if I wanted to 'off' him. I asked how much and he told me 2000 baht. He was one of the older guys, but that's what I like. I'm no spring chicken, but I work out regularly. The total cost was 500 baht entry (including one free drink), 500 'off' fee plus his 2000. He told me that one bodybuilder charges 5000 baht and also that there is a Mr Thailand working there. Now, to get to the crunch. He was completely honest. I had already paid him at the hotel, but for some reason I went to pay him again again and he reminded me I had already done so. He was also very concerned that he give me complete satisfaction, not just going through the motions. I love tongue kissing and he was very obliging. We arranged to meet at the nearby Mango Tree restaurant the next day at 6pm, then go to my hotel room. Surprisingly he took me to Tawan first, rather than going straight to the hotel, in order to pay the off fee, so that again reinforced his integrity. I offed him 4 nights running, the last time being the day before I returned home I asked for his phone number. I wasn't born yesterday and I know he's straight and that he will now be soliciting someone else, but I found him to be so refreshing and genuine that I'm thinking of sending him some money. He's getting older and told me he has had heart problems, confirmed by the manager. I wouldn't go overboard and would not expect anything in return. BTW I have only used barboys occasionally prior to this. There was always enough action at the renowned Babylon sauna ...alas, no more. Maybe a victim of covid Closing point. I believe you can go to a room, for which you pay a few hundred extra baht, but it pays to stay at a nearby hotel. You also avoid taxi fares and driving time, and will avoid the likelihood of being asked for extra money to get a taxi back.

  40. As may have been obvious, I have the basic Elite 5-year visa. Although it was more expensive in the long run than continuing with the 800,000 baht retirement route, it involved far less hassle, required no cash lock up and, as I travel frequently, lots of free airport limousine transfers and special treatment once at BKK. The option to upgrade for up to 15 years during the currency of the membership for a similar amount was also very appealing. Now that I have been through all the palaver of the disgraceful cancellation of this upgrade during the currency of a membership and not at the end of the actual membership period - something I believe no reputable service oriented company anywhere in the civilised world would tolerate, I have been robbed of my option to decide on final retirement location prior to expiry of my membership in July 2025. I have made my feelings clear in emails and in two meetings with the management. Did they give a fuck? Of course not! By withdrawing the option now and forcing existing members to pay for upgrades now, they make a ton of cash in a country where "cash is increasingly king". Although I made my decision that Thailand would be where I wished to retire way back in 1995, since learning of the Thailand Elite latest money grab, I had started to consider if there might be other options. With a partner with excellent qualifications who is quite keen to work in Europe, I had begun to consider Portugal which, as @reader kindly pointed out in the Thailand Named Ninth-Best Retirement Destination thread, has come top of retirement polls for several years. I have been to Lisbon and Porto and enjoyed the cities a lot. For retirement I'd have to consider a town probably midway between where rents etc. would be less expensive. But the more I have thought about it, the more attractive it seems. My partner could probably end up with a decent job in Germany or Switzerland as he speaks German extremely well. He's never lived in either country but quite likes the idea, the more so if I am based relatively nearby and within easy flying distance. Having handed in my papers for the 15 year extension this afternoon, I was informed it could be up to 3 months before the extension was granted and then another month before payment was required. So I do not have to make any decision now. It also means I have time to make another trip to Portugal in the next couple of months to look at possible locations and meet with estate agents, lawyers etc. In the past 25 years I never once considered not living in Thailand. Oddly, it feels quite liberating to be considering another option even without bars, saunas and the Asian gay environment.

  42. From The Thaiger A crane collapse at a construction site within Srinakharinwirot University in the Asoke neighbourhood of Bangkok resulted in the death of a Thai engineer and caused injuries to two Burmese workers. The crane operator fled the scene amid the tragedy. Thong Lor Police Station officers rushed to the construction site at 4pm yesterday together with the rescuers and medical professionals. The crane collapse occurred on the balcony on the third floor of an under-construction hall. On the balcony, officers found a broken crane toppled over 38 year old engineer Thitiphon Rattana-arpa. Although rescuers worked diligently to free him from beneath the crane and administer initial aid, tragically, Thitiphon succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The identities of the two injured Burmese workers have not been disclosed but they sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to Police General Hospital for medical attention. The crane operator, responsible for the operation that ended in disaster, fled the scene immediately after the accident. Authorities are now questioning other workers to understand the root cause of the catastrophic event. According to initial reports, the crane was being used to transport a load of cement from the ground floor to the third-floor balcony when its cable suddenly snapped, leading to the fatal collapse onto Thitiphon.
