To summarize I must say it was one of the best trips. Social component was certainly best of them all with three members there most of my time so almost no day went without common meals, coffees and gossips. We encouraged each other and gave some leads and I’m sure all had good time. As for boys this trip strategy was not to be too adventurous and settle for tried and tested .It worked amazingly. None of those tried companions disappointed and they all did their best. Wing nights (first and last ) were bit different and boys while performing very well still managed to piss me off a bit by rushing up. Don’t blame them , business is business , they did not read me as good as veterans and still earned their keep but I’d be happier if first one wouldn’t be so greedy and last so speedy. Kao adventure proved that fun can be had outside of scene is we have open eyes and thread carefully but with goal firmly in sight. Him and Y were certainly stars of that trip but S, SK , A , Nuk from Arena , Maii from Jey and MJ’s friend who visited me in the room were equally great Novelty for me was settling down when come to accommodation. I like to change hotels every 2-4 nights but this time I was domesticated in just two. It is more homey feeling when one unpacks for 9 days as opposite to just two. Disadvantage is that if something doesn’t work ( 2 noisy nights at Quarter) we are stuck and need to mitigate things using other means than just moving out. I underutilized Foodland this time since for first 9 days I had excellent breakfast included in the rate and somehow for dinners we steered more toward G’Bangkok but still managed to dine there few times. With new Foodland in the basement of Silom park we will see if those two supplement or will compete with each other . I like new store better but prefer old store’s restaurant not only for memories but also ability to see who is inside while passing by. Exchange rate was better than expected and hold up throughout with XOne still my favorite place to get the baht. I regret only one thing, that I missed that new #4 from Tawan I was sitting with one night and hoped to off the next one. I should handle it differently by booking him in advance for next day but this trip on principle I decided not to do any advance bookings so I fell victim of my own orthodoxy. With at least 5 twinks those days Tawan certainly is no longer just a muscle kingdom. I hope for another trip this year although my hope is dimmed by fact that acting on airfares substantially increased I set internal limit of how much I’m willing to pay. I monitor fees almost daily for various time frames but so far nothing even close to my number. But I play 6-49 regularly , it may help I hope.13 points

Day 13, last All things, good and bad , are coming to an end and so is this trip. I still have full day though as my flight is at 11.50 pm. Because of Kao’s message yesterday I kind of knew how it will look like. Free of company I had good sleep and woke up only at 9.15 , no doubt in subconscious anticipation of sleepless night on the plane. At the same time message came from MJ, he just landed on his first leg of his way home. For few last day I’m exchanging messages with Keithambrose , we are trying to meet but out schedules are not aligning. I had some medicine to buy and his hotel is on the way so messaged him that I will be passing by in 20 minutes, fortunately he was in the room and had time so we met for a handshake and chat in his place’s lobby. Mindful that Kao will show up at 3 pm I made sure I was in the room. Unfortunately fortunately right after he arrived it started to rain , at times heavily. So instead of taking meal brake from our activities he brightly suggested we order a meal from KCF of all places. He professed to liking their food beyond measure and yes , commented that I look like KFC. Not my kind of food but it was actually quite very good. I felt sorry for soaked delivery guy but made sure he received proper tip to dry out. Our time was mixture of activities and quiet moments and mindful I need to pack at one moment I actually put him to sleep, he was looking so sweetly, LOL. I utilized that time to tidy of and pack and at 8.30 pm we executed proper good bye rites. He went home and I, in bit of drizzle marched to Sala Daeng station to go to Swampy. All went smooth. I left Thailand for 30th time without a glitch and on time , as always curious when it will be next trip. In Jun on departure I had no idea I will be back in 4 weeks. Best part was that even if plane was full I managed to sleep in one go about half of that, rare treat for me. I post summary in hour or two11 points

Day 12 After breakfast we parted ways. I had tourist program in mind- to complete survey of monorail from Hua Mak to Lad Prao. That section was not yet operational when I rode it in Jun. So off I went to Hua Mak. From There to LadPrao 101 station as I knew there was boy massage place in the soi. Still is , sign " KB BOY" is visible from far. It was opened but I did not venture in , retuned to station to continue my journey. When I returned to hotel they just started cleaning room it so I decide to go to Foodland to eat something and then had a stroll through the area and generally had lazy afternoon enlivened by message from Kao from day 7 that he has day off tomorrow and will be happy to meet from 3 pm on. Confirmed right away. After dark I went to Tawan hoping for massage with original twink Mas. He was there and suggested we utilize for our session new shiny room at Coffee Grinder two door away. Great idea at 600 baht, plus 500 off fee for removal him from the bar so it worked 200 baht more than charge when we had massages upstairs in the bar but I liked it, all three , room , boy and massage in any order. Then to the bar, MK was already there but my heart started bleeding right away. #4 I was hoping to off tonight was sitting with some Asian customer and they seemed to have good time. S was trying to repeat last night feast but I think I become dispirited by missing chance on number 4 and resolved that if he will be taken by that customer I will try to console myself in Moonlight , not Tawan. Mid show it was exactly what happened, both all smiles marched out, I tipped S, paid for my drinks and went to Moonlight to find bar busy and full. Mamasan who knows I like A stabbed me in the back with news that he was already taken few minutes ago. Than another one, who knows I like also Y came and pointed that Y is sitting with customer who seem to be ready to take him. Which exactly what happened by time they brought me my drink. So all I can have was handshake with Y leaving with that successful competitor. What a night , grrrrr! Seeing my long face mamas an pointed out at few new guys and particularly one looked very attractive with manly , rough looking face , in short exactly what I like so I called him over for drink. Myanmarese, he become clingy on the spot, looked enthusiastic so we agreed on long time and compensation and after paying off fee went to Happy Beer garden for a supper, by the way my last supper this trip. From there to the room where things happened quite fast, no harm done thought I , now it will be more time for quiet romantic fake boyfriend experience as I liked him a lot. But it wasn’t meant to be as soon after he looked at his phone and said his roommate lost a key so must go to open door for him and of course he will be back but can I give him half of his tip now because he needs to buy something. Even time frame was quoted like 20 minutes or so. Old trick , too old for me but what could I do? So far he worked hard for his compensation so handed over money, accepted without hope promise he will be back soon. Next hour I spent on the phone and tablet and then went to bed . Of course he did not return. Oh well. My grandmother used to say there’s no bad thing which is not creating something good. At least I had very good night sleep, considering my next night will be spend on the plan it was quite a bonus. It’s why I’m not upset, just bit disappointed but still happy with experience, hot but short, lol. What was bit unnerving though was Line message next morning of "how are you doing ?" like nothing happened. No repeat as Christian PFC uses to say.4 points

Part of the blame lies squarely with the Pheu Thai government run by Thaksin's sister. One of its election promises and first acts was giving subsidies to first time car buyers. This is estimated to have added bewtween 1 million and 1.5 million new cars on to the roads, the majority in Bangkok, but with no increase in the road network. Unsurprisingly, in 2019 the navigation company TomTom ranked Bangkok as the 8th most congested city in the world and the 4th highest in Asia. One reason reducing fares is unlikely to work concerns Bangkok's limited road network. Whereas New York has a road to area ratio of 32% and even Tokyo's is 23%, Bangkok is way down in single digits at 8%. As the Bangkok Post reported in an article in October 2019 - The city's low road-to-area ratio, in particular its dearth of secondary roads, has created "superblocks": large tracts of land without access to major roads and in the case of Bangkok, without public transportation. Residents have to traverse long distances via local roads before they could access the main road. Consequently, they have to pay extra to use another form of transport (such as a taxi or motorbike taxi) or walk long distances before they can access public transportation. A real estate developer once told me: "This is the problem of the first and last mile. It is one of the main reasons why people don't use public transportation." https://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/1762349 Other issues that encourage private vehicles are that unlike most cities, (1) Bangkok has very low parking fees, and (2) BMA construction regulations permit a large number of parking spaces in new commercial buildings This is unlike most other major cities which specify a much smaller maximum number of spaces.2 points

From The Nation Phuket International Airport will begin welcoming taxis from all ride–hailing applications as of Friday, September 1, according to the Phuket Info Center managed by the Phuket office of the Ministry of Interior. The policy revision has been confirmed by Kirati Kitmanawat, President of Airports of Thailand (AoT). However, the new allowance comes with specific regulations and designated zones, the details of which are yet to be explained. This policy shift is a notable change from just 12 days prior when the Phuket Land Transport Office (PLTO) publicized that ride-hailing apps Maxim and inDriver were still unapproved by the Department of Land Transport. The PLTO had also issued a notice outlining the requirements for app taxis to operate legally in Thailand. The AoT’s change in policy marks the end of the PLTO’s aggressive campaign against illegal app taxi drivers at the airport, a campaign supported by local police that began in February and continued until at least June. Since then, the PLTO has not commented on its crackdown against illegal taxi drivers. he announcement by the AoT President, as shared by the Phuket Info Center, has generated discussion among both tourists and taxi drivers stationed at the airport. Monchai Tanode, General Manager of Phuket International Airport under the Phuket branch of Airports of Thailand (AoT Phuket), confirmed that the airport was set to have an all taxi area but this was not expected to be realized until 2024.2 points

From The Nation Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin met with representatives of eight key airlines as well as Airports of Thailand (AOT) and Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) representatives to discuss the future of Thailand’s tourism industry. The meeting on Monday discussed the air traffic situation in Thailand and schemes to promote tourism during high season later this year. The airlines present in the meeting were Thai Airways, Thai VietJet Air, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X, Thai Smile Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai Lion Air and Nok Air. The proposals presented to the premier and his economic team by the airlines, AOT and CAAT, were: • Boosting flights by at least 20% • Enhancing aircraft capacity to accommodate a higher number of passengers • Expanding efforts to attract tourists from large markets like China and India • Adjusting aircraft fleet to match tourism promotion. The government’s aim is to launch more travel campaigns next year, and the first step will be getting the airlines ready. Each airline said it would improve flights and routes if the government can boost domestic demand. The airlines are also willing to make tickets more reasonable.2 points

I have, though it must have been 12-15 years ago and I don't recall the details. But I do recall that Iguazu Falls was fantastic and the sex a close second. I think I only had two guys though, as I only knew of one sauna and nowhere else. One was a hunk, the other a twink. But I don't wish to hijack the thread so I will stop here (though hazy memory doesn't leave me with much to say anyway.) But my general impression is similar to what you said - there is perhaps more variety in Brazil, in skin tone, in size, in hairiness, than in Thailand. Am about to leave for another, longer, visit soon.2 points -

i completely agree. I have been to other more costly places such as Jey spa and VCK. they are way more cleaner, tidier and well maintained than Arena. it is very likely that you are gonna see their boys more trendier too. but i never skipped visiting arena at least once on my trips so far. this place is very unique. i am not sure what it is. my heart would be already pounding going up the escalator in that abandoned building. then once you open the door, all the guys would suddenly get up to form a line in front of you while you are welcome to sit down on their old and broken couch. most of the time, almost all of them would be half naked. their rough facial features, coupled with muscular bodies could be intimidating for first timers. but now i really enjoy that moment. i felt like the moment you enter that place, you could feel and smell a wave of testosterone. is it because of their dark and old interior decorations or is it because of those low maintenance guys? i am not sure.2 points

If you've been to Brazil and say things like this, it's understandable. But people that haven't, really can't compare, no? Both places have plusses and minuses .....I prefer guy next door types in both places, but for sex, Brazil is the clear winner. Massage, Asia wins....Airbnb is just as comparable in price in both places, except it's legal in Brazil for short stays. And if you spend more in a hotel, sex is def cheaper than what people are paying in Thailand. My goal in Thailand is food, massage and maybe find someone for decent sex and better airline options......ah, the other reason people might not like Brazil is a lack of English speaking guys, but I guess if Google works with Laos o Myanmar guys, will work for Portuguese too 😉 Millions of people visit Brazil with never an issue.....Same with Thailand, I've had phones stolen in both places, I like both places......but for top or bottom, and no drama of dead farm animals, sick family, can't stay because of ......fill in the blank, Brasil wins hands down. And there are smooth twinks in Brasil, I've heard people here comment that they're all hairy in Brasil, not true at all, I've never been with a hairy guy.2 points -

it's amazing that this sort of arguments is repeated world wide whenever there's talk about increasing minimum wage. Very thank you it won't be much more, 2 more days and trip is over. I don't talk neither politics nor religion with boys , not that any is inclined to. I like to talk or rather listen to stories about their life. When I mention discussion of local election in some country some readers may even doubt it exists it's just internal slang for getting intimate. I'm never bored with boys but yes, sometimes they are bored with me. It's when they start inventing those stories about lost key etc and resulting need to go home. I don't blame them for getting bored but I do for not keeping terms of agreement we made.2 points

eating up since Aug. 6, the ongoing Valorant Champions tournament broadcasting in Los Angeles has seen finalist esports teams like Fnatic and LOUD step on the stage to compete for the world championship trophy. After several matches in different brackets, the tourney is coming down to the wire with Paper Rex in the Grand Final. But before the team landed their spot in the last match, their face-off with Evil Geniuses (EG) in the Upper Final stirred up a bit of drama. During the Valorant Champions match, Paper Rex was teabagging members of EG, which fans later learned that Riot Games sent them a warning for their actions. Paper Rex receiving a warning for teabagging at ‘Valorant’ Champions sparks fan backlash. Paper Rex had wanted to pay back EG for their boastful comments and attitude toward them and did so by teabagging. At the time, Paper Rex’s duelist, Something, stated during a post-match press conference that his team “did it for fun” and that “no emotions” were involved. Another teammate, F0rsakeN, quickly added, “Actually, we got a warning for teabagging.” Both teams were teabagging each other, so it’s unclear if EG also received a warning from Riot. Alecks, Paper Rex’s coach, expressed he doesn’t “really like it when they teabag because they get carried away, and I usually tell them off in practice if they start doing this.” He continued, “But I guess because EG doesn’t mind, why not?” Not only were the players teabagging, they were shooting the dead bodies of opponents, taunting each other with trash-talk, and waving at each other. Wild as it sounds, it isn’t uncommon for things to get messy during an esports match in the game or verbally between teams on stage. Fans understand this, as noted by a Reddit thread reacting to the teabagging warning — some of which calling Riot “stupid and weak” for its response. “You won’t build any rivalries if teams need to be robots and friends out there,” said one Redditor. Another esports fan pointed out that it’s “kinda weird of Riot to feature EG trash-talking … in the teasers that they do then get mad at [Paper Rex] for doing it back.” For the most part, fans believe both teams were simply competing, and a warning wasn’t necessary. Paper Rex ultimately bested EG, but the Riot warning may have conversely nipped at the wild energy some fans enjoy seeing for the rest of this Valorant Champions tournament.1 point

Point taken. I don't know what Scott456's intention was but I for one wasn't trying to change the OP's mind or travel plans. I was merely trying to manage his expectations. I got the sense from his opening question that he might not be familiar with the Thai scene. Typically, when one is not familiar, one maps one's existing assumptions onto the new field. He stated his height (190 cm) and then said he was looking for someone "fit" and "big". In Europe or North America, this would mean a certain physique with height perhaps over 180cm, weight perhaps over 90 or 100 kg. There are fit and big Thais - but meeting those European standards? Don't expect too many.1 point -

Let's not hold our breath. We have no idea if the Move Forward Party will be allowed to continue. In the 2019 General Election, another new Party Future Forward gained 81 seats, a remarkable number for a new Party. Due to political shenanigans, the Party leader was accused of violating election laws - the same tactic used to get rid of Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader of Move Forward. Naturally he was then disqualified by the elite-led Constitutional Court. This same Court ordered the Future Forward Party dissolved in February 2020. The following year 55 of the Future Forward MPs decamped to Move Forward. Will history repeat itself?1 point -
Living in Cairo as a gay expat
dscrtsldnbi reacted to dgcmcm for a topic
I also lived in Cairo - for three years. Slightly earlier than Bruno. His description of his time there is pretty close to my own experiences and observations. However, Ale4co's question regarding gay dating apps being used to target users is an important reminder to be vigilant when using apps. I met a young Egyptian guy on gaydar and once he trusted me (took several weeks of chatting) we finally met in a large public café (his request) where he described at length the trauma of being entrapped by what he insisted was a European tourist who himself had been entrapped by local police. The police attempted to recruit him into the posse of men that were used to set up these types of honey traps. He refused, paid a fine and then was let go. We became friends and used to chat regularly but he was too traumatized to go any further. (He ended up getting a scholarship to a UK uni and has lived in London for years). At the time, I was not able to work out how widespread this practice was but assumed it was used to extort money from Egyptians by certain members/cells in the Cairo police force rather then being an organized campaign to clamp down on 'homosexual' activity. No idea if this still happens. As Bruno suggests, much of the M2M activity is based around pleasure and not really related to identity as such. Generally, sexual categories like gay, bisexual etc are understood as artefacts of (primarily) western cultures. Though at the same time, thanks to the social mediatization/globalization of 'gay identity' I did meet several guys who did indeed 'identify' as gay. Interestingly, for two guys I knew, this identification was refracted through an active/passive, masculine/feminine lens - to be 'gay' was to be passive and feminine - a widespread understanding across the MENA region. On the other hand, I knew a couple of guys who did not relate to this at all. For them, being gay was not just about sexual desire but also aligned to ideas about 'freedom' i.e. from the norms/expectations of family, friends and communities. They could not wait to flee from Egypt and leave behind what they saw as the strictures imposed by an Arabic-Islamic culture(s) that inhibited/repressed their sense of 'self'. At the same time, I also met during my three years, a couple of guys who seemed to have, from my perspective, integrated their beliefs and (so-called) traditional values with their other nocturnal homosocial/homosexual . I ended up living across the Middle East for many years (until COVID hit) and speaking generally, in my experience, this 'integrated' approach seemed to be the norm - particularly in the Gulf states (Saudi especially!).1 point -

Day 8 When Kao left I felt so happy and energized that decided I can’t leave things as they are. Send Line to Y if he is available, answer come right away and with picture – sick in bed. So I tried SK, only could leave message so I fell asleep, SK actually called me but I was sleeping soo deeply I did not even hear that. So I guess I was meant to sleep alone that very night. Came for breakfast quite late and it was so full I had problem of finding space. I apologized to SK for missing his message and offered him Mahankhon trip instead. He said he will be there in 1 hr. Then I got into touristy mood and asked him if he wants to go with me to see new tunnel leading to Grand Palace. Off we went, impressive place, most important there are toilets there. Then I hired boat for 1.5 hr canals trip, SK gladly joined me . He is not shy type, even called his mom and show her naïve farang treating him to those forays. Quite clingy on the boat too. We returned to Silom civilization by the tourist boat. At 4.30 I went to Cofee Grinder to meet MA for latest news exchange, next step was dinner at G’Bangkok and it was dark already when I returned to my room. Asked Y if he feels better now, shrewd guy answered that he does and if I want he can come to my room tonight pointing that it’s his day off so I can save money on off fee. Deal. Day 9 It seems I can’t have enough Y , after breakfast I asked him to return to the room for some more intimacies. Can’t blame myself , I like him , both personality and build. I think he appreciates too fact that I engage him so often this trip. Of course I tipped him extra for that overtime. Today MA moved to my hotel so we celebrated that fact by having coffee and bagel in restaurant in the lobby. And decided to go to Jey Spa to try our luck there. There were only 2 guys on duty, both suitable but mamasan said he will call one more in a second and that was good move as new arrival happened to catch MA’s eye. I opted for guy nicked/named Guy, 100% gay by his won admission. Handsome and knows his job but min tip 2500 . Not saying was not worth it but rather on high side. Then I suggested pizza dinner at Madrid so MA and me went there . Madrid Tavern never disappoints. In the evening I went to Patpong 2 hoping SA will be there but they told me he went to Cambodia to take his ailing brother there. Then had few drinks with MA and boys at Hot Male beer bar. There’s new host, named One there. Very nice young gentleman . But somehow I had hots for A at Moonlight so went there only to see him just being taken by customer. He apologetically said “ I know you came here for Y” which was not accurate but what I could do if he was already taken ? So yes, knowing from yesterday that Y will be available only till 2.30 am tonight I took him home anyways. I told you I seem not to have enough of him. We found way to keep us occupied till that 2.30 , than he collected his ST tip and went to Bus Station to pick up his sister as he told me yesterday he will.1 point

Day 5 Quite active morning which is what I like. What I didn’t like but at least expected it was his tip request. As I said yesterday, he likes his tips over market , at least from me , lol. But since I always say I rather overpay and be happy than save money and be just Ok. So I succumbed to his bit inflated request (1000 more than I gave him initially). At least he worked for it, sand bag he is not, that’s sure. MJ joined us for breakfast, we resolved to go to MBK for Japanese dinner later on and parted ways. I took haircut on Silom and then went to new Foodland just opened in the basement of Silom Park. Menu in restaurant the same like in sisterly Foodland Patpong. In the store several good deals of 2 for 1 type , unfortunately not on items which interested me. Then to Coffee Grinder to met newly arrived this morning another member MA. It was a while since we met last time so a lot news to share, very esthetic task considering is sweetened by ogling their cute waiters. We agreed on Hot Male visit tonight. At 4 pm MJ and me were supposed to meet S on Sala Daeng platform but somehow S mixed it up and went to MBK . After ½ hr, of waiting we decided to cut our loses and went to Foodland Patpong instead, instructing S who called me in meantime to show there if he wants. He did so we had opulent 7 stars dinner together. After that MJ went his way and S suggested he will walk me to hotel but on our way we can drop at Silom Center as Central there has original Lee jeans on sale. Nice scheming and abuse of my soft spot for him but I tagged along. Indeed they were discounted to 1250 a piece and S wasted no time to point deal is valid on purchase of three pairs only. Ok I sighted but you will come to my room to try them afterward. Idea was accepted enthusiastically. Not only in the mall but also in the room so We had quite funny yet steamy short time session. Not that short by the way I’d say 1 hr. per pair. Not only tip free but visually strong as he looked in those jeans very well and with bleeding heart I was helping him to remove each pair, one after another. But when asked about repeat of last night I was rude enough to say I have cheaper option. He still left happy though. Around 9 pm 20 baht motosai to Silom and short walk to Hot Male. While crossing Silom walking I noticed familiar face. It took me few seconds to connect the dots . Arthur, porn actor featuring in “Beautiful Flower “ from GThai series among others. Smiled at him and got smile back when he marched past me. Stars smiling at me tonight thought I . At Hot Male MA and me had few drinks with boys in beer bar and then went for show upstairs. I was hoping certain SK will be there but he was not but mamasan offered to call him . By time show was over he arrived recognizing me immediately. So after all I did not lie to S that I have cheaper option tonight. Cheaper and sweet, time tested companion who never asked for anything other than to be offed again.1 point

Thai massage

The best Thai massages I've ever had were from the women, not so much the younger ones but more the mid aged and they do it well. As for the male massage shops, I take the massage as part of foreplay, good to relax a bit before the fun and sex starts but if the massage is good then that's a bonus.1 point -
