  1. I went to the area early last night to have time to visit every bar and see how things were. I started out at Screwboys and I enjoyed it. They had some twinks and I had some fun. They had one guy I liked and had for a drink and he was straight and said I could watch him JO. I passed but tipped him well. The place had an NBA theme which I enjoyed and a lot of boys. Not many fem boys that I saw but everything else. Next was the bar upstairs Fresh Boys and they had even more boys and lots of twinks, gays, and fems. I found a guy I liked who spoke good English and we chatted for a bit but I knew he was not for me for the night. Another on stage caught my eye and I had him over for a drink as well. They were both Vietnamese. The 2nd one I wanted to stay with me for the night and I took him home with me and my plans to visit the rest of the bars were put on hold. Oh, well, at least the places I visited were packed with boys and lots of variety.

  3. Discovered a new cheap way to escape a hot Bangkok afternoon when you’re too exhausted for more sex (some of you with insatiable appetite for cock can stop right here). Everyone knows Mitrtown at Samyan is great place to get fast food while watching a seeming endless parade of young men from the adjacent university circulate about. But what I didn’t realize until this trip that on top floor of mall is an art house cinema. A month ago I saw the originally formatted version of Casablanca and today caught Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. At 135 bht for the 4p.m. showing it’s a bargain. https://www.housesamyan.com/site

But also FloridaRob and Reader make this forum what it is and enjoy reading about the rich & famous lifestyle with TotallyOz 😁 As for Vinapu he makes me laugh I enjoy his banter 🤣😅

  6. This is an area of small row houses, so there are more leasing options for small shops rather than look for a space with large floor area. Having multiple small shops also makes the business more flexible. If times are bad, one can close the worst-performing shop and keep the rest running. It allows the business better bargaining strength with landlords. If one landlord asks for a steep increase in rent, it is possible to walk away from the deal and still have other shops in operation. Another possibility is that each shop is structured as discrete businesses with different minority shareholders. That way, the main shareholder can tap on multiple minority shareholders for capital, so although to us they may look like a single buisness, in fact the ownership mix of each shop is different.

  8. I was in Cuba 4-5 years ago and the mood is somehow pessimistic depressive - daily struggle to get food (“there are eggs in shop x, we must hurry there”), authorities removing satellite attennas (illegal to watch noncuban channels) - they cost a fortune in Cuba; Havana looks mostly like it was bombarded a week ago (crumbling houses, no maintenance in 50 years). Yes the center is nice with some fancy hotels and nice restaurants. Cars are wrecks but still super expensive, not available for all (gov. restrictions on cars import and ownership). TV news were like Soviet Union Vremja. Offices of Revolution Guards or something like that everywhere in the city. All in all, daily life was pretty awful - prison like. Luckily, many cubans have relatives and friends in US, who send dollars to survive. Good looking guys, I remember I was in one small bar or coffeshop and said to the barmen I look for a male company, he introduced me immediately a very handsome (pay/straight) guy)). If you are able to ignore the Cuban daily life and focus only on the guys, maybe it could be a nice trip.

I readily apologise if I am in the wrong and am happy to bury hatchets when posts of mine are considered to have caused some offence. In the case of @Olddaddy, I have nothing to apologise for and no reason whatever to take part in a "truce"! What on earth was the point of his rant against me above? Did I describe @Olddaddy as a 115 kg loner (he told us his weight in an earlier post) who is virtually a hypochondriac given all the various maladies he has informed everyone reading this Board he suffers from - or believes he suffers from? Nope! Did I say he refused to consult a doctor? Nope! He did! Did I call him "sometimes nasty and spiteful"! Noper! He did! Have I asked why last year he wrote two contradictory things about himself very soon after each other - 1. that he lived alone, and 2. that he lived with his Filipino boyfriend? Nope!

  12. I had a real cute twink from the complex, took him to a short time room there, He made me brush my teeth after a real scrub in the shower. I guess because I’m old, he assumes I’m filthy. I actually take great care of my teeth and gums. I put my gums in a good solution overnight so they’re nice and clean when I put them in.

  13. Agree. I was in Havana, back in May 2017. Beautiful weather & lots to see but the poverty, food shortages, etc were depressing. There was something oppressive about the police presence, too. There was a small hustler scene in the Parque Central & I would expect that it survives!

  14. hit and miss, we always joke that the best guys have already made it out by marriage or by raft. If you do go, always get their ID card, if they know you have their info, less likely they'll do anything wrong. Big problems for them if a tourists reports them for stealing or anything like that....

  15. On BTS/MRT, I’d estimate that 70% wear masks. In Samyan and malls, maybe a third. You’ll still see a minority of locals wearing them outside. In taxis, drivers always seem to be masked. Personally, I wear on public transit and taxis. Still like to think I can spot a cute gut with or w/o a mask. But acknowledge that it’s not some innate ability on my part. It’s just that there are so many hot guys in Bkk that the odds are always on my side.

  16. Excellent news. This should make an ideal replacement for the much lamented Bangkok Screening Room just off Saladaeng Soi 1. This offered a variety of interesting movies and documentaries in a small cinema off a bar with drinks and snacks. Sadly it closed 2 years ago.

  19. The Chinese peoples have a particular reverence for their ancestors. All around the country there are graveyards or merely simple gravestones, usually slightly circular with a concrete pllnth where descendents can place their offerings of flowers, fruit and the departed's favourite dishes. Hong Kong has several, the large ones in the built up city areas, the individual ones dotted around what used to be called the New Territories. But as one of the most densely populated parts of the planet, land for graveyards ran out years ago. As a result, many families kept the ashes of their ancestors in urns given a special place in their homes. But as the size of family homes has become smaller and smaller, other solutions have had to be found. One of the city's zillionaires who made her money in jewellry and property, Margaret Zee, is the latest to jump on this money-making bandwagon. She has constructed a 12-storey building specially designed by a German architect to store the remains of loved ones in the best possible way. Shan Sum offers a resting place for up to 10 years at a starting price of $53,000 - US$ that is! Not that all you get is a hole in the wall measuring around 1 sguare meter! The building can accommodate urns for 23,000 of the departed. This facility is both air conditioned and humidity controlled, it has a roof garden and greenery lining its stairwells and other areas. What happens after 10 years is up in the air as such facilities are subject to government regulations and the maximum at present is 10 years. Perhaps renewal will involve some sort of discount. As Ms. Zee claims, the space is as much for the peace and enjoyment for living relatives as for the dead. Not that Shan Sum is the largest or most expensive repose for the dead. A spot in a temple-like complex close to the Chinese border presently sells for US$66,000. But that is not all. Annual Management fees per urn space are a whopping US$25,000! If you do not belong to the class of the rich and famous, the government is trying to increase the construction of a similar number of facilities for the dead. A 20 years lease on these far simpler plots costs US$300 but competition is fierce with long waiting lists. Hong Kong land values have always been monstrously high and continue to skyrocket. I can remember back in 1996 the car park spaces in the three underground levels of my 34-storey apartment building (which I rented) were put on sale for US$96,000 each - with a management fee on top! https://edition.cnn.com/2023/07/07/asia/hong-kong-columbarium-real-estate-price-intl-hnk-dst/index.html

  27. I'm not into kissing. But a friend is and told me he asks boys "do you kiss" and on their reaction (kissing him or verbal) he can judge. There is no point in being shy, if you want to kiss, ask the boy! For me, the interest a boys shows in the bar is a poor indicator. Nowadays I do most of my business online, so I have to go back a long time to find examples. 2011 there was a boy who looked dull on stage, showed no interest in anything or anyone, but was great in my room. No clear memory of the opposite, a boy showing interest in me on stage, but boring in bed, but sure that happens as well. As for rimming/kissing:

  31. I did not engage too much with the guys actually. The casa particular were not always very private, lots of eyes anyhow following a tourist, i was not sure whats the official policy and inofficial practices of police regarding sex and most importantly: desperation was lurking on the streets - not very sexy atmosphere. I witnessed one fun action outside Havana. I was in one seaside village, very nice beach and superstylish gin bar, expensive. Two barmen were extremly hot young guys. Two young girls from Europe were flirting with the guys, who closed the bar around 10 and they all soon splashed to the sea. There were sufficient light to see that one bar guy was fucking the girl in the sea). Young people have always fun! Havana Iberostar hotel is very nice. And Hemingway home and Pilar are must to visit! If the museum is closed, just bribe the guards (group of 4 we paid i think 30 usd). Beaches in Cuba are nice.

  33. Yes. Definitely doable in old Soi Twilight. Sounds like an interesting itinerary to try out on my next trip. I would start at Soi 4 at Banana Bar followed by Jupiter then back to Gay Patpong for Dreamboys, Freshboys and Hotmale. Then I would go to Moonlight followed by Tawan. Last stop would be Screwboys because they close the latest. I would spend 20 to 30 minutes at each bar and I would visit just to see the selection of guys available and not to watch the shows.

  37. Never been to Santiago, no real desire to.....not really looking forward to Havana either, just I want to see some old friends before either of us die. They've told me not to come, that the shelves are bare....but there is no limit on food and medicine you can bring now, so I'll bring what I think I'll need with plenty to share. I had a bf there years ago for a long time, I was infatuated with him, but he died awhile ago in a swimming accident, hit his head on a rock and drowned in a river. I'm still in touch with his best friend, so he might come to keep me company. He's not gay, but after a few drinks, he'll fuck any hole....thank goodness.

Scott, you are totally right that most people do not stay very long, certainly not ten days or two weeks like I often do, in Porto Alegre! (Recap here.) Regarding the language, I know men who spend many months in Brazil (for work or pleasure) and have learned surprisingly little Portuguese. An Aussie friend was recently in Brazil for six months and still could not distinguish between chupa and chuva. I do think it is interesting that one of the first question I invariably get asked by GPs is how long I will be around. That question is so widespread that I take it as more than a random inquiry. Maybe I'm wrong, but the answer (a couple of days vs. a couple of weeks) seems to me like the difference between the session being a one-night stand versus an audition. Or maybe I'm imagining things?

  43. I walk Lumpinee a few evenings a week and Benchakitti at least once a trip. These provide my most relaxing moments so I’m heartened to read about these efforts. From The Nation The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is working with the Big Trees Foundation and private companies to breathe new life into decaying rain trees inside Benchakitti Park, as city officials strive to add more green space to the capital and protect the small pieces that survived decades of rapid expansion. Most of the city’s green areas were transformed into construction sites as economic growth transformed Bangkok into a metropolis. But as the city expanded, buildings supplanted trees and most of those left are ageing and in decay, officials say. The BMA’s Environment Office, Big Trees Foundation, Thai Beverage Plc, and the organisers of Sustainability Expo 2023 are working together to save the last large rain trees in Benchakitti Park, which is located next to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. A recent survey by Big Trees and the Thai Arboriculture Association found that 15 rain trees in the park have decaying roots, mould, and are infested with worms. The soil around their roots is also too tightly compressed. The rehabilitation effort started with trees in “critical condition”. They are all located in the park’s skywalk zone. They were pruned about one month ago and have since started sprouting new leaves. Other measures taken include adjusting the height of soil around the trees, eradicating insects and germs, loosening the soil around the roots, removing extra soil from the root area, watering with a hormone solution to revive the roots, and making a ventilation pipe for the roots. Air spading uses high-pressure jet spraying to reduce compacted soil beneath the rain trees to allow better ventilation. This method of soil loosening can prevent damage to the roots. Mulch is then applied to the soil around the trunks to loosen the soil and reduce evaporation. This protective covering of rotting vegetable matter also doubles as fertiliser. In the second phase, four more rain trees will be saved. The project’s progress can be followed on the Facebook page of the Sustainability Expo or its website www.sustainabilityexpo.com. The Sustainability Expo 2023 will be held between September 29 and October 8 this year at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.

  46. The last year has flown by with no time to put pen to paper, but also less inclination as Bangkok Guy and I have begun to fit into a routine in each other’s lives. Business brings me to the region more frequently and Bangkok Guy now joins me for the weekend wherever I am. We have also enjoyed a couple of longer trips to Thai islands and to Japan. Tokyo, it turns out, is not just shopping, although he did a lot of that, finding great deals on clothing. Bangkok Guy has wanted to live in Japan since he was a child. It has both natural beauty and Tokyo. It is clean, it is efficient, he likes the food and the people are polite. The hotel staff bowed to him which made a big impression. It ticks all his boxes. He had a blast. We will return. However, this note is not a travelog. Rather, it is an observation on some of the realities, particularly the financial realities, of a relationship begun in a bar. The short term reality is that, for very logical reasons, a relationship is a lot more expensive than bar hopping. Like every other bar guy Bangkok Guy worked in a bar to meet financial needs. As he straightforwardly puts it ‘I am poor person’. Over the years I have known him I have come to understand how difficult it is for him to maintain a steady income, let alone to grow his income. He is economical and careful with money, including my money. I visited his apartment, a studio in a well kept building in a less convenient location distant from public transport. Clean, tidy, crammed in an orderly manner with his market stock. Microwave, hot plate, modest sized TV, shrine. Nothing expensive or flashy. When I first agreed to give him an allowance we made a spreadsheet of all his expenses and his income. He was at best breaking even and, given down time for bad weather, more likely net negative. Initially the allowance covered half his expenses. During covid the unstable nature of his income became very obvious, so I increased the allowance to cover all his expenses. However, given the Thai family structure, his responsibilities extend beyond just looking after himself. Since his father left he is responsible for his mother and younger sister, particularly his sister. This puts huge pressure on him, which he does not like to bring to me but he has no other solution. So I have agreed to cover some of these family responsibilities. I have seen enough documentation that I am pretty sure that the money goes where I think it goes. Also, after six years, I trust Bangkok Guy. An allowance which was originally a little more than I would spend in the bars during a couple of trips each year is now about three to four times that amount. Not an amount that will cripple me, but now enough to notice. Despite the greater expense, I get more out of spending the money this way. Helping Bangkok Guy makes me happy. The long term financial reality is the same as that for any relationship where the financial gap between the partners is large. To retire and maintain my lifestyle with Bangkok Guy will be more expensive than doing it solo. For starters I intend to travel a lot and I will need the resources to cover travel for two. More enjoyable, but more expensive. Bangkok Guy and my goal is to be living together in three years’ time. I need those three years to improve my finances so that I can have my cake and eat it too. To be with Bangkok Guy with no diminution of lifestyle. It’s good for me. I now have a lot of motivation as I head down the final stretch.

  47. Day 17 , last To add insult to injury , not only I slept alone but it served me well as I waked up just before 9am and went for my last breakfast at Unesco only at 10 am , again missing in early bird discount. I have whole day at my disposal leaving only late at night / early in the morning depending on your religion. I did not waste time wanting to make up for wasted night and asked ST over Line to come to my room at 3 pm. I had impression that he jumped from joy as positive answer was immediate with tons of emoticons. Securing my entertainment for later I could proceed to realize tourist program – survey of recently opened monorail between Samrong BTS and HuaMak ARL. At 11 am on the dot I boarded train at Chong Nonsi and about 40 minutes later alighted at Bearing station to check Apollo massage site. I took exit 3 , went down by the stairs and as soon as I hit sidewalk I saw it, it’s about 6 meters from I was standing at bottom of stairs. Sign OPEN was lit but I did not had time to do more in depth survey so went back to travel to next station Samrong. Finding monorail station was easy – it just there with short covered walkway connecting the two. Ride was free in trial period but it was conducted by way of dispensing free tickets. That way they could test how gates work as well. Train runs every 10 mins so we did not wait too long for one to appear. I secured position at front allowing good view of the line and all 13 stations. Nice views of Bangkok skyline, from few angles Mahanakhon was looking as quite short building and only distinctive architecture allowed to identify it. No tourist attraction on the way so it’s more of commuter value but now with extension to Lat Prao opened after I left Thailand already we have easy access to massages in soi 101. It took 31 minutes exactly to arrive at Hua Mak station. From there it was quite a walk to identically named ARL station, no covered walkway but I made it. From there train to Phaya Thai, BTS to Chong Nonsi and at 1.40, 2 hours 40 minutes later I was back when I started. ( to be continued ) Monorail station as seen from Samrong BTS train arriving at staion inside view from front or car almost Roman aqueduct train in Hua Mak station

Tartegogo's 2018 comments on why you should go to this and why you should not go are still valid. I would add that you can also go there on a saturday nite if you like really wild parties ... It is funny to see evolution of fees : 20R$ back in 2012 (but it was a boy at a saturday party who was willing to get some R$ to buy booze) ; 60 R$ in 2018 and 100 R$ in 2023. This last amount is for a really cute lad with a very good body and face and who bottomed. I would say that, depending on the boy, fee there could be between 60 to 100.
