Doing some very late Spring cleaning this morning, I came across a Bangkok Gay Guide for June 2007. I believe these were printed monthly and given out free in most of the go-go bars and other gay venues. Usefully Bangkok was split up into various sections to make it easier to find venues.Equally usefully each sub-map has a box with the main venues listed in them. It is not always easy to locate them but if you look closely they are there. I have tried to take photos of several with my phone. I see that Soi Twlight was listed under its proper name, Soi Pratuchai. Sad to see how many are closed. Yet some still survive even if not in the same locations.

Last week I decided to escape the heat in northern Thailand and enjoy a few days in the heat of Pattaya and Bangkok. Firstly a shout out for Mikes Taxi for the Bkk to Pattaya trip - never a problem with bookings and from my few experiences on time and very good service. Only 2 days in Pattaya - i enjoyed time at a very quiet Dongtan Beach athough my no.79 beach massage man was around both days. At night i visited Nice Boys, Toy Boys and XBoys. The latter has a show which included one explicit final act - a handful of customers. Always amazed at the stamina of star performer Bang. I feel the same about Brasil, as I have written here many times.....but have a Sept trip to Thailand and Bali planned. I know it's a rainy month in BKK, but also return more for the food and massage. Not so interested in the go-go bars as I once was, usually end up with some sort of disappointment.... some of which I blame on customers paying guys even though they don't do as "advertised" or agreed to. This has created a business model of promise everything, do as little as possible and still get paid. I's been a trend for a long while, didn't happen overnight.

What has prevented or delayed my return to Thailand? Well, I initially had every intention of going back. I absolutely adored the food, the aromas, the culture, the shopping, and the diverse people. However, one factor that started to put me off was the rapidly increasing cost of enjoying a show at a bar. When I first arrived, I had no problem treating a group of two or three guys at a gogo bar, even handing out 100 baht notes for them to tip their preferred performers. But soon enough, the prices began to rise, along with the demands for tips from the waitstaff. A 300 baht drink often came with a demand for a 100 baht tip to the waiter. That 300 baht beer quickly turned into a 400 baht beer, and the same 100 baht tip was expected. Consequently, I stopped taking groups with me to the bars, rarely buying guys drinks. If I found someone I liked enough, I would tip him 100 baht two or three times during my time at the bar. It never failed that the guy would approach me just as I was leaving. Then I had an encounter with Brazil... The drink prices at the show bars were a little over $1 USD, and the tips for the bar staff were under $1 USD. The guys were like catalog underwear models, filling the bar. There was no shortage of guys with plump asses and impressive endowments. The food left much to be desired, but the beaches and nightlife made up for it. Uber and the subway were incredibly affordable, and the gogo bars, dance clubs with dark rooms, and places like Black Cat and Taurus, not to mention all the sex spots in Sao Paulo, were mind-blowing. Hanging out with a local who took me to numerous parks, saunas, and private houses, I was ready to surrender and put up an "out of order" sign on my body just to get some rest. When my three-week trip came to an end, I was astounded by how little I had spent, not holding back on anything. I started to view Thailand as a place that tried to drain as much money from you as possible for a night out, while Brazil enticed you to return frequently and enjoy yourself with its economical prices and attractive, sexy guys. The guys in Thailand, as I remember, possessed beautiful legs, sculpted asses, interesting anatomy, and were sexually adventurous. Their Asian looks and features were truly something to treasure. On the other hand, the guys in Brazil seemed like they were plucked straight from the hottest magazines or featured in the most tantalizing pornography. When I closed my eyes, I could fantasize about them. Due to these and other reasons, I haven't rushed back to Thailand. However, as I plan my return, I intend to reduce my visits to the bars and focus more on the food and culture in Thailand before I rush back to Brazil.

I have never purchased a car for anyone. Whoever "in boxed " you does not know me at all if they think I purchased a car. it's an absurd idea. A tourist, even a frequent visitor, can only help to provide opportunities, alleviate hardships, provide a pride to a better life. ASEANS have no problem finding Thai-style rooms to rent that don’t involve contracts, just the habit of paying rent in advance. Many have roommates. I made 2 trips to South America from Asia - one to Brazil and the second to Argentina, Chile and Peru. Both were wonderful although neither would have been possible financially had I not had a ton of air miles for business class. Both required 2 overnight flights there and back. I believe it can now be done with much better connections. Rather than fly through Europe I would probably go via Sydney or Auckland. I wish I could return as I loved almost everything on those trips. But with my now having few air miles to use, like @zombie it would be impossible, no matter how much I would love to do so. Getting back to the topic, though, I have also found air fares to Europe from Bangkok have risen quite dramatically. Inevitably, when combined with high inflation rates and massive losses from years of covid, this has to have an effect on numbers travelling long distances to Thailand. On the other hand, during my regular travels in Asia I come across so many younger guys who have first or return trips to Thailand planned. But in general these guys do not replace the slowly disappearing expats and visitors from Australia and the west as their nightlife interests are mostly different. Massages with HEs, saunas with their friends to meet other Asian guys and dancing at clubs like DJ station seem much higher on their wish lists.

I have never understood why anyone who go anywhere that they could not appreciate the culture, language and people. I can't comprehend even wanting to go to bed with someone just because they can be had cheaply. Since Aniki died 2 years ago, most of the discussion on saunas in Taipei has revolved around the relatively new Soi 13in. It certainly remains THE sauna for meeting mostly young Taiwanese and other Asians, especially at the week-ends when it always seems packed with way over 100 cute guys. But another sauna is undergoing something of a rebirth! For at least 2 decades, Hans Mens Sauna near the Red House gay complex of bars and cafes has continued to attract mostly older Taiwanese with occasional university students after classes and on a Saturday. The last time I went pre-covid it was pretty run down and sleazy, its one main attractive feature being a hot pool where you could sit and watch guys taking their showers, those having emerged from the very dark steam room often sporting sizeable erections. Four months ago it moved two blocks further up XiNing South Road into totally new premises. It now occupies the entire 8th floor of Wan Nian Building. It has obviously been designed from scratch and is spotlessly clean. It obviously hopes for a large number of patrons as I counted more than 300 lockers. I went twice, the more active being late on Saturday afternoon. Since it is so spread out, I could not accurately estimate the number of patrons but I reckon at least 70. Most seemed to make a beeline for the two steam rooms, at least to start their visits, and these were pretty active. The facilities also include a sauna, TV room with reclining loungers for relaxing and watching one of the regular TV movies, a corner with a long couch showing porn, a karaoke lounge, a decent number of private rooms (but not nearly enough if it ever gets packed) and about 4 totally dark spaces with mattresses. Across the street you will see a large building in green. This is the Wan Nian Building. Find the entrance on XiNing South Road and walk through the small stores (a bit like Terminal 21 in Bangkok although these are mostly watch shops). There is no sign in English for the 8th floor, only one with two Chinese characters on a blue background. The lifts will be on your left. Entrance is now NT$400 (US$13), NT$50 more than at the old premises. I noticed there is a hotel on the 6th floor. No idea what it is like but I imagine pretty inexpensive. On a more general note, as far as the apps are concerned, I gave up on Blued a couple of years ago and was a bit surprised that some of my Taiwan friends had also ditched the app. Grindr was arguably the most active for young guys seeking older westerners, but Hornet and Jack'd were not far behind. I did venture out one evening to the gayish Hot Spring, Huang Tzu. Not as many guys as normally the case, but then it was very hot in Taipei last week and a hot spring is better suited to cooler if not colder weather. Still, there must have been 60 - 70 guys there with some as usual being agressively handsome.

The saunas are definitely the safest place in Rio for hookups. In the past, I had advocated for love motels, but this would no longer be advisable — tourist or otherwise, but especially not tourists. The problem about airing this problem on any chatroom site is that you are going to get a wide variety of opinions. Which should you consider appropriate to your situation? It's impossible to say. Further, we know almost nothing about you apart from the fact that you mention you are living in Singapore. Are you Singaporean or an expat enjoying a bigger apartment and a better salary that most salaried Singaporeans? Put simply, I'd say that's infatuation. It's not love. With respect to you and your feelings, you need to spend 2 or 3 more visits and a lot more time with him before you can really understand what your true feelings are for him. If you'd like him to move back with you, how do you get him a visa to stay more than a very short time? Can he get a work visa? Does he have any work skills that will be welcome where you live - now and in the future? If the answer is no, how do you see the relationship developing? You move to Bangkok? Or you just visit perhaps more regularly? Just thoughts.

Most immigrant working boys rent rooms monthly, or their friend does and they stay with them. Very few stay alone. 2/3/4 to a room. Sure they return home often to see family if they are illegal, or do a border run (although some have agents that do it for them). I make one trip a year for six months, so luckily for me air fares are not a problem. In March the guy who runs 69 bar was complaining to me how the bar was losing money from lack of customers. I spend a lot there on Saturday nights as they have a pool competition and I buy drinks for boys so they can enter it. As the night progresses the music gets louder. Am I right in thinking last year it started from close to Samyan MRT station? My own view is that if a Parade is going to be a regular annual event, the starting point - and preferably the route - has to be the same each year. In Taipei with one exception the Parade has always started near the Presidential Office Building close to New Park. I recall only one year when it was switched to an open space close to Taipei 101. That did not prove popular and so the start was moved back. Even though numbers most recently were around 200,000, there was still room for almost all the marchers. Wherever it is located, there should be room for hoped for expansion of numbers in future years.

There is too much animosity between bar owners. The Thai owners don't always see eye to eye with the farang owners. In some cases there is real hatred between some of them, who actively go out their way to try damage others businesses. It's far from an ideal situation. Some of the worst offending bars are not in it for the money. They have sponsors with deep pockets, and use their establishments as their own party place. Getting drunk is their motivation, not profits. Unfortunately, the complex management have little involvement in day to day activity. Maybe if they did, it would be better. 4 years ago, it wasn't like this. The soi was very different. Owners got along better and this current noise issue was only present on big parties, which was something all bars do for anniversaries and big events. COVID changed things. I would also assume that some are getting desperate with the lack of visitors.

I maintain that three noisy bars in Boyztown contributed enormously to its sad demise by the effect that they had on the hotels. It's something that I shall never forgive; driven away from our favourite location and favourite hotel by the selfishness of those bars, which weren't even necessarily catering for the gay community. I hope that JC doesn't go the same way. We love Agate but the JC isn't, and never will be, anything but a shadow of Boyztown in its vibrant prime. To ensure that we are not disturbed at night, we always stipulate that the room faces the swimming pools. And we've never been disturbed. I love Pride parades. I don't know if I will get to this one as it does seem a bit out of the way for the gay area. Why did they move from Silom? I do remember when Hillary ran for Senate in NY. Hi guys, I'm on the plane heading back to London with 11 hours to kill so thought I'd use the time to share my thoughts on my first ever trip to Brasil. I hope it proves useful to someone who may soon be going for the first time, or anyone who cares to read it. Sorry if it's a bit long-winded but feel free to stop reading if you lose interest haha! For context I spent 5 days in SP and 4 days in Rio. Consider this trip an early 30th birthday present to myself lol. Sao Paulo Arriving in Guarulhous was straight-forward and without issue. Despite countless Taxi offers, I couldn't resist paying 4.40 reals for a train ticket to downtown Paulista. Plus the weather was great and I got to see the surroundings. FYI, the ticket offices for the metro only take cash or Brazilian debit cards. On average Brazilians are much better looking than your average westerner (no offence) and within an hour of landing I was already drooling over some heavenly specimens. l don't know if its the genes, the food, the weather, the mix of indingenous cultures or all of the above, but they"re clearly doing something right. Alot of Brazilians also seem to have very good teeth, both natural and veneers. After checking in to my airbnb in Avenida Paulista, I took a shower and explored the local surroundings. In the sunshine Paulista Avenue really is a sight to behold. I'd made prior arrangements with a hunk from garotolocal, potentially risky I know, but along with all the positive reviews and the security measures at the Airbnb I decided to go for it. Despite not having any issues myself, I would recommend sticking to saunas initially until you have some trustworthy connections. A few Brazilians here told me about the potential risks of using sites, even trusted ones. If you must use sites, check reviews, instagram, only fans, etc for evidence of an online presence. I booked an airbnb that was ok with visitors so I would have no awkward issues. Being super paranoid, I also removed any potentially dangerous items out of sight - sharp cooking utensils, irons, broomsticks etc I would also recommend hiding your passport and other belongings or putting them in a safe if available. Also FYI, if you're going to be 'passivo', make sure its clean down there as I've noticed a fair few Brazilian GPs have a habit of checking the condom after sex haha. Brazilians in general tend to be very clean and hygienic, the ones I came across at least. All of them to smell great and use mouthwash etc, especially if they smoke. The next day after doing a few touristy bits, I decided to head to Lagoa. If you're a foody and enjoy the arts, culture, restaurants, bars, museums etc then you really cannot beat SP. I enjoy sex but it wasn't the only reason for my visit to Brasil. Beyond Paulisita, SP is not the most aesthetically pleasing city but its full of charm and has something unique to do around every corner. I wouldn't have it any other way. Check out Ibirapuera park on a satuday morning/afternoon to see lots of white topless, hunky, sweaty middle-class brasilians going for a morning run lmao. I was really nervous heading into Lagoa as I'd never been to any kind of sauna before and had no idea what to expect. I got changed into a towel and began to explore. At first it wasn't explicity obvious to me who was a GP and who wasn't (except for the guys stroking their dicks in a corner for all to see). Without trying to brag - I promise - I am in pretty decent shape and was approached by guys who either thought I was a GP, or they knew I was a client like them but wanted to try their luck regardless. In terms of Lagoa, due to previous posts on here I had lowered my expectations. However as it was my first time I had nothing to compare it to and went with an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised, there was a mix of everything from muscular brazilian jocks, to bodybuilders on steroids to athletic swimmer body guy next door types, to slim twinks. There really was something for everyone. If you're into pure muscle then it doesn't beat 117 in Rio (will discuss Rio in a separate post hopefully) but you'll still find a few decent studs here to make it worthwhile. I am quite shy and had no intention of approaching anyone. The best I could muster was a smile and an extended gaze when walking past someone hot. I got myself a drink and made my way upstairs and awkwardly sat in a small side area where some straight porn was playing on a big-screen TV. After the session he heads home as he has a fair way to go. I go back to the bar feeling a bit more relaxed. On the other hand, there is a correct way of asking for things - to be clear I have no issue helping out GPs in genuine need if it's done with respect and good grace - don't take the piss and try to take advantage of me. Any decent GP asking for money outside of their services will do so respectfully and is often embarrased to ask. They'll often say something like 'i'd appreciate anything you can help me with for X reason etc' In terms of GPs, I made some amazing new connections/friends in Brazil but only a small minority of these are not underpinned by a financial dynamic. Yes you can get free sex online, at bars, beaches etc but obviously its way more effort and is not guaranteed. Furthermore, I am told (by Brazilians) that Grindr in Brazil is becoming increasingly dangerous so again be careful using it. Under no circumstances would I ever suggest going back to a guy's place in Brazil unless you are 100% sure you know them well, especially in light of recent events at 117 in Rio. In hindsight this was probably a lapse of judgement but ironically this GP is now one of my few genuine friends where money doesn't dictate our relationship. He did have ID the first time I saw him and has a stable job, after sex we ended up speaking like old friends for hours. Another word of caution, there are young guys on Avenida Paulista riding around on bicyles stealing phones, bags, hats etc. I saw it happen to a gringo right outside Mcdonalds so be sure to keep your valuables out of sight and secure. I used a fanny pack which works pretty well. If you really need to use your phone, e.g. to check on an uber etc - do it quickly and keep your wits about you, ideally go into a shop, restaurant, shopping area etc. If none of these are nearby then stand up against a wall so you have no blindspots. You will get into the habit of being careful with your phone in Brazil. It's such a contrast to London or other big western cities where you can safely be on your phone at every given moment in practically any given location. Most places take card but I would recommend having some cash to hand, especially because ATM/cash machines in SP are few and far between and they tend to close around 8pm (the ones inside the banks). Also most GPs only take Cash or PIX ( a Brazilian money transfer service which only Brasilians can use). Lastly, unless you want to destroy your Uber rating, don't slam the Uber doors lmao. The Ubers are also dirttt cheap out there. To sum up, I had a blast in SP and will defo be back either this year or early next year God willing. I hope somebody finds this report useful, when I get some time I will try and do one for Rio. Wallace de Oliveira has nine passages through the police. Ilia Kakhaberidze, 31, was found dead in a hotel room in the Lapa neighborhood. His body was tied up and had signs of violence. According to witnesses, the tourist arrived at the hotel accompanied by the suspect. Four hours later, Wallace left the scene. Employees suspected the attitude, went to the room and found Ilia dead. His body was taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Rio and the case is being investigated by the Homicide Police Station of the Capital as robbery (robbery followed by death). Ilia Kakhaberidze was a ship engineering officer and worked on board. To CNN , the Honorary Consul of Georgia in São Paulo, Carmen Ruette, informed that the Consulate is aware of what happened to the citizen of the European country and that the Embassy of Georgia in Brasilia is acting in the case. For its part, the Embassy of Georgia in Brazil informed CNN that it is aware of what happened and has already made contact with the victim's relatives.
