  1. I took a ride to the heart of gay Bangkok and had a good time. Screwboys is open and had at least 30 boys. All of who I have not seen in other bars. One there I liked and wanted to go back and get but time got away from me. Hotmale had a nice array of more muscle type guys. Freshboys was filled with twinks and gay boys and several I knew and the waiter from Viet I really liked. Had less boys that Screwboys it seemed but still a full stage. Dreamboys was packed with sexy guys but crowded no seats down front and I didn't want to go to the top so I left. I liked the night market. First time in YEARS I went and it was open for business. It made it feel like life was coming back. Tawan not my scene but they have moved locations (across the street) so I went in and found my guy for the night. I had a good time with him. All in all, people who think the area is dead, don't have eyes. It is alive and well and boys are there looking for love (or just a quickie).

  2. The guy from Freshboys I had seen years back. He said, "you can fuck me all night." I said, I'm old now. He said, "I can fuck you all night." To me, that showed drive and determination and he got a nice tip. But, I did plan to go back for him until I met the love of my life in Tawan.

  3. To add another concern to the points I already made, I think this focus solely on Trump's character is distracting us from the core problem: he is representative of a significant number of Americans, and his coalition has no shortage of political leaders flashing their racism, intolerance, ignorance, and assault rifles. Hopefully, they are White Christian America's last stand, winning some battles before losing the war, but we do not know how this will evolve. CNN is just doing its work and showing an America that still exists, whether or not we like it.

  7. I'm off to Japan next week and I'll be joining all the locals and wearing a mask indoors, even though the mask mandate has been lifted. When I was there in Dec/Jan the mandate was still in place and everyone wore a mask, apart from quite a few tourists who refused, despite being asked to do so. I wore a mask in Thailand last month every time I got into the elevator or caught the train. I didn't bother outside. I'll continue to wear a mask because at my age Covid can be dangerous. Also, I know of many people here who are experiencing long Covid and I think that would be worse than Covid itself, which can usually be treated with anti-virals. One friend has a persistent cough after recovering over 6 months ago; another suffers from chronic fatigue and is unable to socialise with us.

The conservatives I debate with , they usually start with name calling ending in prerogatives, like Moses did and going way off track from where the original subject started. That's been most of my experience. They double down on something they are wrong with and Democrats seems to accept it when hit with an actual fact, at least in my case and say, "that's true"....

    CNN legitimizes Trump

It's not the 43% on either side that's going to decide the 2024 election. it's the people in the middle in swing states. CNN didn't legitimise Trump, the US did in 2016 when they were stupid enough to make him President. Four years of a Sociopath in charge apparently didn't destroy enough democracy in the US so, in all likelihood, the US is going to give him another 4 years. They are also very likely to give him his senate and congress with the extreme right in ascendancy. Why? because the majority of Americans measure Trump and Biden on completely different scales. That any reasoned person could listen to Trump and Biden without recognising how seriously disturbed Trump is, is quite beyond me. Putting Trump in for an additional 4 years of vile retribution of every imagined slight will have vast implications on not only the US but the whole world.

  12. Code of Conduct: Gay Guides membership is restricted to Adults Only. That Message Center members shall be expected to behave as adults is not an undue burden. The expected conduct standard for the Gay Thailand forums is the same as that observed every day in society by adults in our neighborhoods, towns, and cities. It is based on straightforward mature behavior, civility and courtesy that you find in a neighborhood Pub or Tavern where neighbors and acquaintances joined by occasional strangers come together to socialize in good temper, to share conversation, and to hoist, in moderation, a glass of favorite beer or wine or a cup of coffee or tea. These forums are NOT presented for abusive arguing and name calling, score-settling, thread stalking, or general cyberspace blood sport for the chronically bored. As in any Pub or Tavern, an egregiously abusive or chronically problematic customer (member) shall be banned from further post participation. In all instances, Gay Guides management shall be the final arbiter of what constitutes egregiously abusive conduct or when a member has crossed the line of "chronically problematic". In general, terminated memberships shall not be eligible for reinstatement.

  13. Hey, since this is my first trip to Brazil I thought I'd give a report of what my experience has been like as a newcomer. Started off with a week in SĆ£o Paulo. Was going to stay at a lovely Airbnb in ConsolaĆ§Ć£o but when I got there the owner didn't respond to me when I tried to check in. Ended up having to get Airbnb to refund me and getting a crappy little room at the Ibis Budget Frei Caneca (which was more expensive than the Airbnb), since I knew I wanted to be close to Lagoa. So I went to Lagoa several days. As a first-timer, I was impressed with the number and quality of the guys there. I also felt like it was relatively clean, compared to for example Sauna Thermas in Barcelona. I would post up in the bar reading a book and drinking a beer, enjoyed that they had the glass shower next to the bar. The men there were friendly but not too pushy, which I appreciated. I ended up having 3 programas total at Lagoa. I'm a bottom who prefers big guys with big dicks, and I prefer BB but I didn't bother asking as I assumed most of these guys would not be open to it. All three guys quoted 300 reais, and I didn't negotiate. (I guess that is the going rate in SP, but when I was in Rio they all charged 200.) Funnily enough, the guy I was most attracted to was the bar manager (hot as fuck). It was convenient staying nearby as I could just pop over for an hour or two to see what the crowd was like and have a beer before going out somewhere else. While in SP I also hit up a couple other places. I went to Bar Queen and Hot House, both of which had fun strip shows. I have now learned that in Brazil basically every strip show includes this very bizarre (to me) specific thing where the guys do their striptease, then leave the stage for a drag number or another stripper, and then they come back out with a hardon in underwear, and they walk around the room and have one customer take their underwear off, then they go to the next customer and hand them their underwear to put it back on. They go around the whole room doing that. I thought it was a funny thing the first time I saw it at Bar Queen, but literally every strip show I went to had that. I also found that the same strippers were showing up over and over. I saw the same ones at Bar Queen, Hot House, and Lagoa. Makes sense, if you're doing this as your main gig you're going to do multiple shows a night/week. Since I've seen so many of my favorite Brazilian pornstars show up at Hot House on their social media, I was hoping to get to see some of them. Unfortunately none of them made any appearances while I was there. I also had a session with Rico Marlon at his apartment. He was incredibly hot in person and just the sweetest guy. I saw him out on the street twice in ConsolaĆ§Ć£o afterwards and both times he stopped me to say hello. I also went to the SP Eagle twice, where I met and had some fun with an extremely attractive daddy, and to Chili Pepper Hotel, which is one of the nicest bathhouses I've ever been to. Unfortunately I think I had my timing wrong. I went on a thursday evening (bear night) and got there around 8. There weren't a ton of people there. Left around midnight, and I think that might have been when more people were starting to show up. I worked remotely several days, and then explored the city. I did some exploring downtown, and found the Galeria do Rock (a full shopping mall of all streetwear, hip hop, and rock music stores) interesting, but in general this (around PraƧa RepĆŗblica and SĆ©) is where I felt the least safe while I was in SP. I probably will avoid next time I'm in town. The areas I really did enjoy were along Avenida Paulista, where there are (mostly free) museums on basically every block, and on the weekend they shut the avenue down to cars so it becomes a pedestrian and bikeway, and Pinheiros, which has so many different little shops and restaurants to stumble on. Also worth walking around Parque Ibirapuera, and across the bridge to the Contemporary Art Museum. I did go to Restaurant Spot because of the recommendations on this board, and it was indeed delicious. I mainly used public transit, because I love public transit, and found it safe and pretty easy to navigate. The metro is a bit weird in that if you're not a resident, you can't get a card, so you have to go to the ticket booth and buy individual tickets, which are basically little receipts with QR codes on them. Overall, outside of the RepĆŗblica and SĆ© areas, I felt pretty safe the whole time I was there. It probably helps that I'm a larger guy, and not to be classist, but in general whenever there were a lot of middle-class people around going about their lives, that to me signified that they were choosing to be there and they felt safe. I flew from SP to Rio on Saturday. I took the light rail and metro to my hotel in Copacabana, and my first impression of the city was that it was bizarrely dead. Both on Saturday and Sunday when I was in the downtown area, it felt like I was in a postapocalyptic movie where there was just no one around, and I did feel a bit vulnerable. But once I got to Copacabana it was clear where everyone had gone. I stayed at the Mercure Boutique Rio Copacabana, which was both inexpensive and lovely. Located right on the beach. I didn't try to have guests over to either of my hotels, but I don't think it would have been a problem at either of them. Just walk right on by the front desk to the elevators and scan my card to go up. I went to 117 multiple nights. Usually took the metro there as it's very conveniently located a few minutes' walk from the Gloria station, and in an area that is bustling with locals and feels very safe. The first thing that struck me is that it did feel noticeably dingier than Lagoa. And the second thing that struck me is that several guys whom I'd seen at Lagoa all came up and said hi. I guess a lot of the guys go back and forth between the two. When I first got there (around 5 on a Saturday) I thought it was empty other than the guys hanging out in the front hallway. I had a drink at the inside bar, and then noticed the sign for the smoking bar. Went out there and there were like 25 garotos hanging out out there. I had no idea. 117 definitely had a higher proportion of my type of guys than Lagoa did. In total I had 4 programas there, 2 of which were with the same guy. A tall, bearded Black man with big muscles and tattoos. We had to wait a bit for a room, and he made out with me while we did. One of the best kissers I've ever met. Super great in bed ā€” I did find his dick a little odd, it was big, hard and felt great, but it also felt a little lopsided, like a silicone injection gone wrong maybe? I did go on their big night (Tuesday) and it was indeed packed, but not noticeably more so than Saturday. The staff were very helpful and friendly ā€” at one point my key fell off my strap and got lost, and they took care of it, helped me move my stuff to another locker. My biggest annoyance at 117 was how loud the music was during the drag shows and strip shows. My apple watch immediately notified me it was too loud, and I had to plug my ears, otherwise it was painful. As I sit here typing this the next day I have tinnitus. I also went to Point 202 for their big Monday night. Point is very conveniently located in Copacabana, but compared to Lagoa and 117 it is a shithole. It felt so much dirtier and I felt gross the whole time I was there. Even on their "busy" night it was really dead. There was, however, an incredibly hot, muscular latino guy with a baby face wearing a "massagista" shirt. I asked him for a massage, and for 150 reais I got a long, very legitimate feeling massage, with some sensual elements. He performed it in his underwear, and that combined with the massagista shirt made me think he was not a garoto, but after he finished and I took a look at him I was like "you are incredibly sexy," and his response was "oh do you want to have sex?" I was not expecting that and it threw me off and I said no thanks, but looking back on it he was by far the hottest guy from the whole trip and I should have said yes. I'd planned to go to a dance/sex party called Hole on my last night, but I developed a bit of a cough and decided to stay in. (I brought my own covid tests and have tested negative so far, plus I had covid 2 months ago so it's probably not that.) So I didn't really get a feel for the gay scene in Rio outside of 117 and 202, sadly. The rest of my Rio time included trips back downtown during the week, at which point it was waaaaaaaay busier, to work and go to the Museo do AmanhĆ£, which is very interesting architecturally if not so interesting exhibit-wise. I also checked out the Metropolitan Cathedral, which is very interesting, as well as taking the Bonde de Santa Teresa, which is a nice ride, but not much to do up there. Cristo Redentor was exhausting and IMO not worth the trip. I bought "skip the line" tickets via Viator, and took the Corcovado train up. That was interesting, and then you get to the top and there are SO MANY PEOPLE. The views are great, I'll give it that. But getting back down was a shitshow. The line for the train (which you could not skip on the way back down) went halfway up the stairs to the statue. I'd estimate I waited about an hour to get on a train back down, and by the time I did I had to go back to the hotel and take a nap. I also checked out the Museum of Modern Art (not worth it in my opinion), and walked around Leblon in Ipanema, which is a much nicer area than Copacabana, with lots of shops and restaurants, and where I'd consider staying next time. I'm not much of a beach person, so I just took a lot of walks up and down the sidewalk next to the beaches, stopping for drinks and food at the many beachside bars and restaurants, and peoplewatching. I never actually touched the sand. I had thought about renting a car to go to AbricĆ³ Beach, which is a nude beach outside of Rio, but driving in a foreign country seemed unnecessarily stressful so I decided against it. In terms of food, my hotel had a great restaurant in it, Q Ceviche, and I went to O Grego twice because it's open late (12 AM) and was delicious. I did go to Fogo de ChĆ£o and the meat was my least favorite part. It just wasn't very flavorful. I much preferred the salad bar, which actually had a tray of pork belly with crackling, which was the best meat by far. Both of my hotels had The Coffee stands nearby, which is very convenient because ordering is done via an iPad which makes it much easier than speaking to a cashier. I found myself going to The Coffee over any other coffee place around the city because of this. One thing that did make an impression on me is how gay Brazil is. I've seen so many gay couples holding hands walking down the street, even outside of gay areas. The first two times I turned on the TV I saw a drag queen and a gay love scene. There are antidiscrimination notices all over, and on the metro there's an ad for a show called Tunnel of Love that has straight and gay couples making out. I didn't realize how openly gay friendly Brazil is, especially with all the terrible things I'd heard from Bolsonaro. And overall, everything here is just so inexpensive. A nice dinner rarely cost me more than $40. I'd spend 3-4 hours drinking at Lagoa or 117 for $30. I had 9 sessions with men, including a pornstar, for the same price as 2 would have been in the US. Ubers cost between $5 and $10, even with surge pricing. Overall, I've had a great trip and I'm excited to come back. Since it's only an hour ahead of east coast time, it's pretty easy for me to work remotely from here, so I think I may plan to come back for a month or so at some point. Let me know if you have any questions!

But on more serious note I hate to admit I agree with Moses although omitting both insulting labels. Americans are presented or even more accurate, are presenting themselves with questionable , mostly age related, options. We all remember crash landing of Soviet Union after putting at helm string of aged, increasingly out of touch, leaders. China learned the lesson by putting 10 years limit but abandoned it and chances are will pay for it in the future Nation of 300 000 000 should certainly do bit better.

  28. I'm not that familiar with bars that offer sex shows, but if you just want to see guys doing I would also suggest going to the R3 sauna during their O-party nights. the sauna hires a couple of performs who first put some kind of a sex show for around 20-25 minutes, albeit not that good imo, and then everybody goes up one floor in this big room and performs start doing it with the sauna customers. It's quite the show even if you just want to watch and you don't have to pay extra if any of the performers wants to have sex with you. So from a purely financial perspective, it's probably the best choice. Sauna Mania in Silom does kinda the same thing, as they are both owned by the same guy. However, they didn't put a show during Xmas/NYE but had a foam party instead which lasted almost two hours and the performers were messing around with customers and among themselves this whole time.

  29. This reminds me of my first ever visit to Thailand more than 4 decades ago. I was staying far from Suriwong and given the times I was somewhat timid about exploring. Then a tout offered to take me to a gay gogo bar and for the only time in my life I took him up on the offer. A long tuk-tuk ride later, I was in the somewhat notorious Stockholm bar near the foot of Langsuan - long before that street moved very upmarket. It was a large bar in an old Thai building, hardly any other customers and about a dozen boys dressed in jeans. The mamasan soon sat next to me asking my choice. Jet-lagged and unsure of protocol I said i was still not sure. She recommended I take two upstairs and let them do a show for me. And that's what i did. For one whose only prior experience of sex clubs was a couple of visits to the Reeperbahn in Hamburg and the saunas in Amsterdam, I was somewhat nervous. But the boys were great. As they were performing, one suggested I move to sit on the bed. It was not long before I was invited to join in the action. Given my inexperience of Thai bars, I loved it and even today it remains clear in my memory.

  30. I have worn masks and used hand sanitizers virtually all the time in Thailand. My concern recently has been primarily the number of tourists visiting Thailand and the consequent possibility of somehow getting infected despite having had 4 vaccinations. Just over 2 weeks ago I was in Hong Kong for 48 hours. Although all restrictions have been lifted, again I wore masks. I know that most masks are far from foolproof, but I feel better wearing them. Then about 4 or 5 days after my return I started to feel unwell. Thereafter I tested positive and underwent a really bad week. For almost 3 days I had a very high fever and various lesser ailments. Worse, I had absolutely no appetite. For a week I was able to eat only a small bowl of cereal and fruit in the morning. By mid-week, I tried to drink some clear soup. After three spoonfuls I felt sick. All I could do during that week was drink lots of water, sometimes with electrolyte powder. Oddly, the really sore throat I was told to expect never materialised. It took 8 days before I tested negative over 2 consecutive days. The one good thing - if there is anything good about getting covid - is that I was at home. Had I been on vacation, it would certainly have ruined most of it. Perhaps ironically, I had tried to get a booster prior to a trip to the UK in early March, but was told by all the hospitals i contacted they had no stocks of vaccine. I certainly recommend that anyone presently living in Thailand, especially of the older generation, get a booster shot if available.

  35. Not that I've never led a thread off topic. But let's return to our regularly scheduled crisis in American democracy, okay? Great article, @pitman. I'm always one for calling out right-wing billionaires. (Did I mention I think we should raise their taxes, too, to reduce the deficit? But, being a bipartisan guy, I'd say let's tax left-wing billionaires more, too. But there I go again, hijacking a thread about Trump and CNN to talk about taxes on fat cats.) I'm fine with saying it's the media, stupid. But I'd take that sentiment and go the other way. Compared to a generation ago, the media has gotten way more partisan. CNN led the way, along with Fox. All through US history, of course, there have been slanted and even toxic media sources. But I do think right now the media itself is helping to divide us. They build money making silos, and encourage us to stay in them by telling us what we want to hear. Which, in the case of Fox, was a bunch of lies, as we all just learned. Kudos to CNN for proving they can spout just as many lies. Even if it was indirectly through Trump, and the CNN moderator fact checked him. Reich is 1000 % correct that the media needs to hold Trump accountable for his lies, and venom about women, and democracy-bashing. Had I edited his essay, I would have suggested Reich point out that Kaitlan did that, exceptionally well. To me, that is exactly what made it so scary. The truth didn't matter. Go ahead. Call her a "nasty woman." To me, it did feel like it could have been Hitler saying, "nasty Jew!" With the crowd ready to smash the windows with glass. Not that they aren't the kindest "patriots" around, who can't get a fair trial anywhere. That said, we should all fear what comes next. I'd like America to stew over that. John Meacham, as I noted above, put it very well in historian talk. It's basically the same point @Riobard made above in psychology talk. This is a pathology. And it is deeply rooted. And hopefully a majority reacts the way Meacham said he did, personally. It is almost more important than anything else that we stop this. Now. As much as it is the media, stupid, I'll be the one to keep saying broken record that it is fundamentally the economy, stupid. Morning Joe likes to point out that in the recent bad-for-Biden ABC/WaPo poll that has triggered the Democratic inside the Beltway bed wetters, we also learned that 56 % of Americans think Donald Trump should face criminal charges in "investigations of whether he tried to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 election." What is bad for Biden, and what Morning Joe does not mention, is that in the same poll 54 % of Americans say Trump did a better job handling the economy when he was POTUS than Biden has in his term "so far." Emphasis on the words "so far." Morning Joe did say that when voters are talking about Trump, Democrats win. When voters are talking about Biden, Republicans win. I'll paraphrase to argue that if Americans care most about the economy, Trump would win today. If Americans care most about how Trump is a convicted, impeached, and indicted loser and liar and abuser, Biden would win today. We know Democrats did amazingly well last Fall, when inflation was higher than today. And when even more voters than today said the economy was on the wrong track. So that gives us a window into how Americans voters may weigh these important things. It's almost as if people voted as if eliminating some pathology, or perhaps some pathological liar, was more important than anything else. Meacham 1, Pathological Liar 0. Stay tuned. If Donald Trump is not senile, he should be. Only a senile old fool would go on CNN and insult suburban women in .................. how many ways? He should have been talking about the economy, stupid. Not how Kaitlan is a "nasty woman." Then again, maybe not: Q1 2017 to Q3 2020: GDP per capita growth from $54,866 to $56,479 = 2.5 % growth for Trump's term up to Election Day 2020 Q1 2021 to Q1 2023: GDP per capita growth from $57,882 to $60, 470 = 4.5 % growth for first half of Biden's first term Even a senile old fool would realize that whatever senile fool brought us 4.5 % growth is better than the senile fool that brought us only 2.5 % growth. At least up to the point where voters decided to fire this abusive and lying loser. Could that be why President Trump, who is no fool, failed to explain how the economy did better under him? The interesting question is why voters feel Trump did better on the economy, when GDP has grown faster under Biden. And unemployment under Biden is at a record low, and lower than it was under Trump. But I guess that would take a whole book to explain. I just can't think of one word - or one GIF - that would explain it. šŸ˜‰

Florida is is a 8 hour overnights flight so i am going to try and go monthly! i met several new guys on my last trip in March and decided to go spend a long weekend with them! i got a different apartment in Ipanema then usual with 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms across the street from the beach on Posto 8! since i am always on a late night flight i pay for the extra day so i can stay until evening before leaving for the airport.

  44. I have been in SĆ£o Paulo all week and made it to Lagoa about 5 times including tonight. I had great times on other nights and really experienced some huge endowments and enjoyable times. It is a fun atmosphere and a beginner is likely to feel comfortable after 10 minutes or so. The only hassle (I think it has been addressed in this forum) is that it is hard to say no to guys you may have connected with on previous nights. They can be very persistent. For the most part, I wanted to meet new guys. Tonight a very different experience happened. It was very busy and there were huge cocks being presented to me everywhere. I mention this fact as it is what usually turns me on. But, I just couldnā€™t take my eyes off this incredibly beautiful guy. I kept trying to make eye contact but he didnā€™t seem to notice. He really did seem much shyer and less forward than other guys. Here is my opinion on Lagoaā€¦there are guys with huge cocks, guys with muscular bodies and cute twinks. But, very few are breathtakingly beautiful. This guy was truly one of the most gorgeous men I have seen. Flawless body, 6ā€™3ā€, with this flowing curly hair. He looks exactly like a young Justin Trudeau. I didnā€™t completely catch his name but he goes by ā€œThe Greekā€ in the sauna because of his features. Anyhow, we had perfectly nice sex (even with a rather average-sized cock for Lagoa) but it was really just an incredible experience to be held and kissed (I mean kissed very very well) and that alone was the highlight of my week. I think he stands out from the crowd, especially if you have tastes like mine. Anyhow, I probably sound like a gushing school girl. That is strange for me as I am usually more ā€œtransactionalā€ about these things. But, I highly recommend if you visit Lagoa.

  47. From The Economist Gay watching for straight women A Thai take on manga storylines is big in Japan Are Thailandā€™s gay TV dramas the next K-pop? The ā€œ2gether cafeā€, a pop-up restaurant on the second floor of the Tower Records Shibuya building in Tokyo, is a hub for a new Asian craze. Visitors, all women, swoon over wall-to-wall pictures of Bright Vachirawit and Win Metawin, stars of ā€œ2gether: The Seriesā€, a Thai TV drama about two students who fall in love. The actors, both men, are depicted exchanging flirtatious glances and hugging. Airy Thai pop music plays in the background. ā€œI didnā€™t know Thailand had such handsome men,ā€ says Kobayashi Maki. An ardent fan of the TV series, she is studying Thai because of it. Thai soap operas about gay romance, generically known as ā€œBoysā€™ Loveā€ (BL) or sometimes ā€œY seriesā€, are stealing hearts across Asia. Though the first shows appeared in 2014, the genre, including over a hundred series to date, took off outside Thailand during covid-19 lockdowns, thanks in part to many being available on YouTube. ============================ Unfortunately, the remainder of article is behind a paywall.
