This reminds me of my first ever visit to Thailand more than 4 decades ago. I was staying far from Suriwong and given the times I was somewhat timid about exploring. Then a tout offered to take me to a gay gogo bar and for the only time in my life I took him up on the offer. A long tuk-tuk ride later, I was in the somewhat notorious Stockholm bar near the foot of Langsuan - long before that street moved very upmarket. It was a large bar in an old Thai building, hardly any other customers and about a dozen boys dressed in jeans. The mamasan soon sat next to me asking my choice. Jet-lagged and unsure of protocol I said i was still not sure. She recommended I take two upstairs and let them do a show for me. And that's what i did. For one whose only prior experience of sex clubs was a couple of visits to the Reeperbahn in Hamburg and the saunas in Amsterdam, I was somewhat nervous. But the boys were great. As they were performing, one suggested I move to sit on the bed. It was not long before I was invited to join in the action. Given my inexperience of Thai bars, I loved it and even today it remains clear in my memory.7 points

Expats, tourists can get Covid boosters at two locations
Ruthrieston and 5 others reacted to PeterRS for a topic
I have worn masks and used hand sanitizers virtually all the time in Thailand. My concern recently has been primarily the number of tourists visiting Thailand and the consequent possibility of somehow getting infected despite having had 4 vaccinations. Just over 2 weeks ago I was in Hong Kong for 48 hours. Although all restrictions have been lifted, again I wore masks. I know that most masks are far from foolproof, but I feel better wearing them. Then about 4 or 5 days after my return I started to feel unwell. Thereafter I tested positive and underwent a really bad week. For almost 3 days I had a very high fever and various lesser ailments. Worse, I had absolutely no appetite. For a week I was able to eat only a small bowl of cereal and fruit in the morning. By mid-week, I tried to drink some clear soup. After three spoonfuls I felt sick. All I could do during that week was drink lots of water, sometimes with electrolyte powder. Oddly, the really sore throat I was told to expect never materialised. It took 8 days before I tested negative over 2 consecutive days. The one good thing - if there is anything good about getting covid - is that I was at home. Had I been on vacation, it would certainly have ruined most of it. Perhaps ironically, I had tried to get a booster prior to a trip to the UK in early March, but was told by all the hospitals i contacted they had no stocks of vaccine. I certainly recommend that anyone presently living in Thailand, especially of the older generation, get a booster shot if available.6 points -
From Pattaya Mail Thailand’s Department of Tourism has introduced “www.entrythailand.go.th,” a website that contains useful information, news, related websites, and applications for travelers on arrival and during their stay in Thailand. The website features: – Thailand information – Real-time, in-depth flight information – SHA / SHA+ accommodation booking – Reservation home and camping – Cultural calendar – Weather warnings – Thai disaster alert mobile application – Thailand tourism directory – VAT refund for tourists. The moderator corrected Trump many times, and I have seen many others doing the same. Of course, the outcomes of any game depend on the players' skills, and Trump is a skillful player. It looks like we all agree on how depictable Trump is. We disagree on whether or not he and his minions have the right to access mass media and the same political resources granted by US electoral/democratic system to anyone else. I think they should have complete access. I understand the challenges presented by a mass liar. However, we should focus on finding creative ways to fact-check and debate them rather than discussing how to block them out of mainstream channels. The bottom line is the US people will have the leaders they deserve. If you need to come here to vent your frustration, fine. But advocating for censoring them is falling into their authoritarianism and intolerance trap.3 points -

Unless you want to date them, it's probably good practice to keep arm's length from unknown amorous labyboys. From The Thaiger A ladyboy was arrested for stealing 10,700 baht from an Israeli tourist on Sukhumvit Soi 4 in Bangkok. A 63 year old man of Israeli nationality travelled to Lumpini Police Station late on Monday night to report that a ladyboy stole 10,700 baht from his pocket as she hugged him. The victim managed to snap a quick photo of the thief which he showed to the police. Soon enough, police found a ladyboy with the same appearance as the photo standing alone in Sukhumvit Soi 4 in Bangkok’s Khlong Teoi district. Police opened her LYN brand black leather bag to find 10,700 baht and marched her to the station. Lumpini Police arrested 32 year old Jankij Chankijakorn under suspicion of, “theft at night.” She confessed to hugging the foreigner and secretly snatching the stash of cash inside his pocket. The victim confirmed the identity of the thief. Last month, a Taiwanese tourist thought he lost his wallet during Songkran celebrations on Silom Road in Bangkok. Upon inspecting a short video that his friend took, he realised that his wallet was stolen by a ladyboy who sexually harassed him. In the 13-second-long clip, the Taiwanese tourist is pictured trying to get away from a ladyboy who repeatedly attempted to grope him. As she tries to touch him, she snatches the wallet from his pocket without anyone noticing.2 points

my prescription to avoid such situations is : wear multipocketed shirt and trousers / shorts spread your cash among those pockets, preferably with fixed amount in each leave your wallet in safe box in the room limit amount of cash you have on you to what you think you will spend before returning to your room plus tip for your possible companion that way even if one will be robbed , highly unlikely will lose everything not to mention bulky wallet clearly shows target to a potential thief so far served me well with one possible exception (not sure I lost 500 or got it stolen in crowded BTS ) I'm always amazed to see patrons paying their checks , pulling out wallets clearly packed with week's worth of spending money like there are no other ways to impress people around2 points

That reasoning is Bullshit, for a person that orchestrated an insurrection to overthrow democracy and the will of its people, the rules should be different. RESPECT ? Are you kidding me? Did you see how he treated the moderator at his Town Hall and the comments he made about the person he was found GUILTY of abusing ? PLEASE ! When you deal with Trump, you are not dealing with a normal human, and treating him as if he is one is a Travesty that all you people that make excuses for him are guilty of. You all need to STOP normalizing Trump and his actions.2 points -

Why not let the man himself clarify the distinction?: “If I were president …”; “If I’m president …” And worry more about what that possibility means than about the title itself in or out of office. It’s not Bridgerton. It’s not Marie Antoinette on PBS. Though he would deftly settle the conflict between the American colonies and England within a day. And his “whack job” pussy-grabbable mistresses are spontaneously randomly selected at the local market. Notice the only content that didn’t get laughs was devoid of misogyny and racism.2 points -

We now return you to your regularly scheduled monologue. I thought the Morning Joe crowd nailed it regarding Trump's lie and ego fest on CNN. Scarborough said it's enormously stupid of Trump and his supporters to think a performance like that will help him. He argued Biden said it best in a tweet: "Do you want four more years of that?" Willie Geist cited the Morning Joe axiom that politics is about addition, not subtraction. Outside of Trump supporters, he asked, how many Independents who are not excited about Biden watched that CNN town hall and said, "Yup. That sure makes me want to vote for Trump." John Meacham, who is no radical, reminded me of Saul Alinsky's axiom from Rules For Radicals: the action is in the reaction. He said watching that Trumoy crowd and their deep connection to Trump, despite his lies and trashing of norms, made him feel like defeating this thing Trump represents has to be the biggest priority. This is coming from a guy who styles himself as Mr. Bipartisan Moderate. I agree with Meacham. I'm glad they had an audience of Trumpers. It was scary. I think a lot of moderates and Independents who are not fans of Biden will watch that and feel like, "No. No. We can't have this."2 points -

Any fucking show place in Bangkok?
AlexThompson and one other reacted to hojacat for a topic
I'm not that familiar with bars that offer sex shows, but if you just want to see guys doing I would also suggest going to the R3 sauna during their O-party nights. the sauna hires a couple of performs who first put some kind of a sex show for around 20-25 minutes, albeit not that good imo, and then everybody goes up one floor in this big room and performs start doing it with the sauna customers. It's quite the show even if you just want to watch and you don't have to pay extra if any of the performers wants to have sex with you. So from a purely financial perspective, it's probably the best choice. Sauna Mania in Silom does kinda the same thing, as they are both owned by the same guy. However, they didn't put a show during Xmas/NYE but had a foam party instead which lasted almost two hours and the performers were messing around with customers and among themselves this whole time.2 points -

Traditionally former presidents go back to the form of address to which they were entitled prior to taking office. The logic was that it was a one-person-at-a-time office so only the current office holder would get the forms of address. For example, in retirement Dwight Eisenhower was correctly addressed as General (Full name) on the envelope and as Dear General (Surname) in the salutation. After Harry Truman left the presidency he directed others to address him as Mr. Truman. After listening to the ex-president's performance on CNN the other night, according him even the honorific prefix would constitute a lie.1 point

Code of Conduct: Gay Guides membership is restricted to Adults Only. That Message Center members shall be expected to behave as adults is not an undue burden. The expected conduct standard for the Gay Thailand forums is the same as that observed every day in society by adults in our neighborhoods, towns, and cities. It is based on straightforward mature behavior, civility and courtesy that you find in a neighborhood Pub or Tavern where neighbors and acquaintances joined by occasional strangers come together to socialize in good temper, to share conversation, and to hoist, in moderation, a glass of favorite beer or wine or a cup of coffee or tea. These forums are NOT presented for abusive arguing and name calling, score-settling, thread stalking, or general cyberspace blood sport for the chronically bored. As in any Pub or Tavern, an egregiously abusive or chronically problematic customer (member) shall be banned from further post participation. In all instances, Gay Guides management shall be the final arbiter of what constitutes egregiously abusive conduct or when a member has crossed the line of "chronically problematic". In general, terminated memberships shall not be eligible for reinstatement.1 point -

Au contraire, that’s about all you can do, and do. You seem to want to consistently influence it a particular way and revel in it to boot, as if your identity is predicated on being contrarian, collective anonymity a type of shield within grenade-lobbing commentary. As if you alone reached the epitome of integrity preservation in sex trade contexts and you wish to underscore that you have obtained the optimal standard, emphasizing doing what works for you a flimsy coating of what actually seems to come across as contemptuous. We might consider the prerogative of our unique style as magnanimous when referenced, to the extent it has worth as a general principle depending on the source encouraging it, but for the undercurrent of disdain, Greek chorus style. Perhaps you already possess insight about this and have lock-stepped into crossfire between commentary directed to you and what, granted, is not so illegitimately retaliatory on your part. But the seemingly irreversible circulatory lacks true yield. Maybe I’m preaching to a sacrificial lamb bot diverting trollistic energies.1 point -

These work best if shoved up the nasal passages or crammed into the windpipes of those disturbing your sleep. Those applications double for vocal cord disabling. If folks could just self-regulate. My last few business class flights were a waste of money. I like to lie flat as a variation of posture, and be on my side, requiring 180 degrees. Sleeping is great if the conditions support it. My last flight bumped me from the last row to being in front of a family of 6 travelling at the last minute. One of the young children usurped my selected seat but could have easily been clustered with her folks without me needing to move. Much shrieking among the 4: infant to 6-ish. No sleep. All this racket directed forward to my ears. The flight before that was a bachelor party clustered around me. No, no lookers. Not misbehaving, but rowdy and loud enough to inhibit any possibility of restorative sleep. And before that, first row, about 2 feet from a curtain behind which several flight attendants were talking extremely loudly for several hours while most other passengers making zz’s snug in their duvets. I’ve rested better on some occasions in packed economy. I would prefer to pay a lot less to lie flat if those populating a shared space are going to render attempts at sleeping futile. I’m a very solid and enviably deep sleeper at home where it’s quiet.1 point
