Very true (what you've said). The (supposed) thrill of meeting someone you are unlikely to meet otherwise and having sex in public place with some danger added ... is a lure for many gay men. When I lived in Mexico City it wasn't uncommon, before the introduction of social media, cruising apps, etc., to walk into one of the men's rooms of the many Sanborn's chain of restaurants and encounter, in the open, guys engaged in blowjobs. A friend of mine in Chicago, a church pastor, would cruise public park bushes in the middle of the night and suck off and get fucked by guys looking for money to buy drugs. Myself? When I worked in Mexico City I had a regular consulting appointment at 8 a.m. several days a week and on the way to work I would stop in one of the Sanborn's men's room near to where the appointment was ... and, frequently, a student in an expensive nearby high school would blow me and sometimes I'd fuck him. He in his school blazer and slacks and me in a suit and tie. Back to Chicago: before the social / dating apps I would cruise the 'bushes' in Lincoln Park on the lakefront 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. if I hadn't gone to the baths. Scores of guys were there when the bars closed and the sex was good. We were all grunting like pigs. Every once and a while several police cars would show-up with lights flashing, bullhorns in hand, telling guys to get out - and some guys jumped in the water or let the police lead them out. Me, I knew the police were not going to get into the bushes so I stayed put. At the time I held a very good job and I could have lost it all if arrested for being caught like that. When we're young many of us throw caution to the wind. As I've gotten older, much older, I don't often take risks like that. But, never say "never."

I know that some guys have a special interest in that sort of cruising - "cottaging" we call it here in the UK- but why would you want to? With the apps full of willing guys of all ages, sizes and preferences making themselves available, surely a bed in a hotel , with a shower before and after, as well as privacy and a locked door, is infinitely preferable? You should also remember that your activity may lead to public humiliation and even police trouble.

IMO the quality time spent with the boy is more important than the length time spent , My last visit in this bar 3 years ago I offed a beautiful young Vietnamese including the walking to the hotel which was nearby it was less than one and a half hours but it was an unforgettable experience he really knew to give such a wonderful experience in bed and after we finished he was so rushed goback to the bar that he forgot his watch in my room , I went as quickly I can back before the bar closed to bring it back to him .

Good thing you gave nothing to a second guy. Going to hospital at 2 at night is not what is normally done unless somebody is in severe pain so he obviously lied. 12. I think that's the issue, in part. The polls show clearly that phrases like "defund the police" and "socialism" scare and annoy people. That said, the murder rate in my state is way higher in Kevin McCarthy's Bakersfield than in blue LA or Pelosifrisco. Like I said, some of the "extreme: stuff is real stuff - like "defund the police." Some of it inflammatory bullshit. In 2022 there were lots of pictures of Kevin McCarthy standing next to cops. But Senator Gary Peters, who ran the Senate Democratic campaigns, had a great line. He said, other than photo ops, Republicans didn't really offer much. They didn't do so well, he thought, because they mostly focused on telling people about problems they already knew they had. What happened to McCaskill in Missouri is a cautionary tale. At least in my liberal mind, it aligns with this idea that UMW Democrats in Kentucky became Trumpers overnight. How exactly do you stop that? The crude way I think of McCaskill's fate is that she lost because Trump rallied the Testicle Vote against Christine Blasey Ford. I was contributing to McCaskill and Heitkamp, because i want moderate Democratic Senators. The polling was pretty clear that White men turned against both of them, and Donnelly, when things got polarized around SCOTUS. Which I guess is a form of culture war. I think Ruy Teixeira, who I cite a lot, is right that Democrats need to tone down some of the culture war stuff and focus on economic populism. Trump is, at heart, an economic populist. But one with authoritarian tendencies, to put it politely. I really don't buy the idea that third party campaigns help drive debates on anything that really matters. I think Lichtman is right about that. (By the way, I was mistaken above. His Russian buddy was a world renowned predictor of earthquakes, not volcanoes.) I think the idea that a surging third party movement reflects a potential political earthquake is coming makes sense. Just like, for example, huge losses in midterms reflect seismic political rumblings. But it's hard to identify any policy outcome from third party candidates of the past. George Wallace was basically defending Southern Democratic racism. But he ended up flip flopping and apologizing. What did John Anderson get done? My own view is that Ralph Nader and Gary Johnson and Jill Stein basically helped elect W. and Trump. The one person who was both amusing and maybe effective was Ross Perot. You could argue he helped put a focus on deficits, and the need to control them. But I'd argue what did that even better was the 1994 midterms. Arguably, Clinton had no choice but to negotiate with the Gingrich conservative insurgents. Although I think Clinton was inclined to want to reduce deficits, anyway. But if Manchin or Lieberman or any of these No Labels people run, I don't see how that moves the dial. What I am hoping Biden does is move the dial and cut a deal regarding deficits. The fact that he is dragging your Senator, McConnell, into it may be one good sign. As McConnell himself said, those two know how to negotiate. So does McCarthy, for that matter. If they pull a Clinton and put us on a path to deficit reduction, that would help. But I have more faith in Biden, Schumer, McConnell and McCarthy to do that than I ever would in Joe Manchin.

  15. Starting with this newly uploaded post Saigon in the heat of April, there will be a series of reviews of five massage places in Saigon (Ho Chi MInh City) on my blog. It may take a few days for each of the rest of the posts to come up because I am still putting finishing touches onto them, in between catching up on work. It was a rather last-minute escapade. I found myself with a relatively free week and decided I would use it "productively". Since it had been at least 10 years since my last visit to Saigon, it was time to re-acquaint myself with this city.

  16. From Reuters BANGKOK (Reuters) - Another opposition leader emerged as the favourite to be Thailand's next prime minister in a new opinion poll on Friday, just days out from an election that could see an end to nine years of military-backed government. Pita Limjaroenrat, 42, the charismatic leader of the Move Forward party, jumped ahead of Paetongtarn Shinawatra of the main opposition Pheu Thai, with 29.37% support versus her 27.55% in a countrywide survey by Nation media group. The outcome tracks that of the latest poll by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) on Wednesday, which also put Harvard-educated Pita ahead of Paetongtarn for the first time, as Move Forward - a party popular among young Thais - sees a late surge in some surveys.

  17. From The Nation The Revenue Department is conducting a public hearing on the Royal Decree to evaluate the efficiency of the 1983 Overseas Travel Tax. The public hearing kicked off on Wednesday and will wrap up on May 17, the department said on Friday. The decree mandates that all travellers, including Thai nationals and foreign expats, pay a tax every time they leave the country. Those travelling by air will be subject to a 1,000 baht tax, while those travelling by sea or land will be subject to 500 baht. The department said this decree had been issued to prevent an excessive outflow of Thai currency, preserve the country’s balance of payment and increase state revenue. The tax does not apply to transport and logistics operators, flight crew, holders of border passes, monks and religious pilgrims, consular and embassy officials and their families, workers with tax exemption permits issued by the Labour Ministry, and transit passengers who spend no more than 48 hours in the country. Violators can face up to three months in prison and/or 6,000 baht in fines.

  18. It does appear that the Bangkok press is frequently reporting heat index temps without noting the difference. Here's an article from the BBC featuring the actual Celsius temps around SE Asia that puts the situation into a better perspective. From the BBC Climate change: Vietnam records highest-ever temperature of 44.1C Vietnam has recorded its highest ever temperature, just over 44C (111F) - with experts predicting it would soon be surpassed because of climate change. The record was set in the northern province of Thanh Hoa, where officials warned people to stay indoors during the hottest times of the day. Other countries in the region have also been experiencing extremely hot weather. Thailand reported a record-equalling 44.6C in its western Mak province. Meanwhile Myanmar's media reported that a town in the east had recorded 43.8C, the highest temperature for a decade. Both countries experience a hot period before the monsoon season but the intensity of the heat has broken previous records. In Hanoi, climate change expert Nguyen Ngoc Huy told AFP that Vietnam's new record was "worrying" given the "context of climate change and global warming". "I believe this record will be repeated many times," he said. "It confirms that extreme climate models are being proven to be true." The world has already warmed by about 1.1C since the industrial era began and temperatures will keep rising unless governments make steep cuts to emissions. In Vietnam's central city of Danang, farmer Nguyen Thi Lan told AFP the heat was forcing workers to start earlier than ever and finish by 10:00. Vietnam's previous record temperature of 43.4C was set in central Ha Tinh province four years ago. Further west, the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka recorded its highest temperature since the 1960s while Indian authorities said parts of the country were experiencing temperatures that were three or four degrees above normal.

  19. In Pattaya, foreigners usually just throw themselves off the balcony. But maybe because he was only on second floor he decided otherwise. Excerpted from The Pattaya Mail Police said a man who blamed marijuana smoking for his viral rampage at a Pattaya hotel actually was high on crystal methamphetamines. The 43 Italian man faces narcotics charges after testing positive for crystal meth in the aftermath of his meltdown at Chalee Place on Soi Buakhao May 3. He threw the contents of his hotel room, including the refrigerator, TV, furniture and more, from the second-floor balcony during a paranoid rant. Civil-defense volunteers broke into the room and took him to the Pattaya Police Station and consoled his frightened girlfriend. The man told police he had been smoking marijuana all day – a claim backed up by many packets of cannabis found in the room – and became paranoid, hearing voices and feeling like people were watching him. A urine test, however, proved it was “ya ice”, not ganja, that pushed him over the edge. Admitting to smoking cannabis, of course, won’t get you in trouble, as it has been decriminalized. But testing positive for meth – a Class 1 narcotic – carries stiff criminal penalties.

  23. What I noticed last year was many young Singaporean & Malaysian guys ( with partners) in the gay areas ,fit looking ,maybe professional types Are they interested in sitting at bars with old men or are they into rave parties & nightclubs I doubt they hire money boys. To tell you the truth I saw most beer bars full in jomtien on my last visit with a mixed crowd including those new age young professional types with a mix of elderly farangs . I'm not sure why your saying that bars aren't busy Is it as busy as 2004?, No absolutely not, sunee was pumping ,BUT it was the case if closeted old men seeking out the illegal younger boys at that time and things have thankfully changed !!! A lot of them would have died off plus the tough laws and society attitude to this has changed But having said that ,this gay generation particularly young Asian professionals,on what I have seen ,seem to be more into rave parties ,nightclubs ,dance parties etc rather than going to small bars with host boys. A few of this young professional Asian generation seem to have some sort of thing against older farangs hiring money boys I think hiring money boys is looked down at from this younger professional gay crowd

The thing is I have never "cruised" before . How do you cruise say in a public toilet? Can I get some advice from you experienced cruisers. I'm talking more about the free sex,not cruising for money boys although that's another side to cruising areas There used to be a cruising forum if I recall rightly? Is there still a cruising forum. Say I go to Royal Gardens shopping mall, what sort of body language would I use, obviously I'm not going to walk up to a guy "would you like a BJ? I had a middle eastern guy last year in one of the big shopping centres, wasn't the royal garden it was the other big one can't remember the name but I accidentally was looking at him outside the public toilets. I was fascinated by his crocodile shoes, he saw me smiled and walked to the public toilets. But being shy I didn't follow him in. I had no idea how to approach this. next visit to Thailand on my bucket list is visit every Bangkok shopping mall toilets to see if I could pick up both free and/or paid sex adventures.

that's what I usually do, set duration and compensation expected. If boy cuts me on time I usually pay what we agreed for but tell him firmly I'm not happy and if on next visit to his bar he is trying to reacquaint, i tell him discretely but firmly that I'm not interested in anymore and explain why. Long time for me is till breakfast, whenever I decide I wont to eat it and if i engage for long timer it's how I ask " do you stay with me till breakfast ? ", works better than simply asking for long time

On top of it , still more fun is to be had in both Bangkok and Pattaya than I can digest even during month long vacations. We all miss old days but missing them leads us nowhere and may even induce indigestion and with that melancholy and finally bitterness so better is to look for full half of glass or bar

At the very least, ST ends after you cum. But yes, in thailand, the duration seems to vary. Though, if we use massage as the comparison, one hour massage + HJ can be had for 1000-1500 baht and 2k-2.5k for full service, so at 2.5k baht (tip and off fee) its reasonable to have at least 1 hour for ST. Anything longer will result in a repeat or better tips from me, given that both had a good time, or at least he pretend to. However, I always prefer LT, and during my last visit, I actually insist on this pretty much with most of my encounter, except for 1 or 2. For LT, I prefer it to end with breakfast together. If they left early, no repeat. If they left super early, i would probably told them id be paying ST, but so far that didnt happen yet. Earliest i think was around 5am, and longest was around 3pm, since we had lunch together. In your case, less than an hour and u didnt came, definitely shortchanged.

I have been asking the bar lads I know how long they think short time for 2000bt should be. I thought 1 to 2 hours. Very varied answers. From Viet men working go go bar in Patpong: "40 minutes; 60 minutes". From Thai/Laos men working host bars in Pattaya: "For me, a short time spent with customers 2-3 hours is 1000 baht, but if a long time spent with customers is night until noon or the afternoon of the next day is 2000, it's a reasonable price". and "about 1 to 2 hours". It shows it's good to discuss the time and what we do and the fee while we are in the bar. I admit I don't always do this at 1.30am.

My point is, nobody knows what you deemed 'sexy' and from your history, you never follow up with your questions thread. Although I am very positive about the bar I have to report two less than positive experiences on consecutive nights, taking out a man from there. And there is a pattern. The first I take him off about 01.40, pay the 500 off fee, go to 7/11 nearby and to my hotel two minutes walk away. When we arrive in my room at about 01.50 he tells me his friend is waiting for him so he hasn't got long. I express surprise and he says he can stay until 03.00. We go to bed, which is ok ish, he can't come (not a problem), I can't come; he clearly wants to go at 02.27. I pay him the 2000 and he goes but I feel short changed. He did ask if I was ok and I said I was (I lied but I see little point in demanding a man stays when he wants to leave). The next night I take off a different man about the same time, arriving in room at 01.50. He immediately says he only has until 02.00 and he has to go to hospital. (He does not appear sick and there are many reasons one might go to a hospital). I tell him I am not happy and the same thing happened the previous night. I say goodbye and give him nothing. He says sorry and leaves. This is the only time in 12 years I have given a man zero. From both of these lads I get the impression they think they finish work at 2am (ish) regardless. I don't want to raise this with the bar in case it damages the men's relationship with the bar but in the context of short time in Patpong this is not good enough. Thoughts?

  43. I have been in São Paulo all week and made it to Lagoa about 5 times including tonight. I had great times on other nights and really experienced some huge endowments and enjoyable times. It is a fun atmosphere and a beginner is likely to feel comfortable after 10 minutes or so. The only hassle (I think it has been addressed in this forum) is that it is hard to say no to guys you may have connected with on previous nights. They can be very persistent. For the most part, I wanted to meet new guys. Tonight a very different experience happened. It was very busy and there were huge cocks being presented to me everywhere. I mention this fact as it is what usually turns me on. But, I just couldn’t take my eyes off this incredibly beautiful guy. I kept trying to make eye contact but he didn’t seem to notice. He really did seem much shyer and less forward than other guys. Here is my opinion on Lagoa…there are guys with huge cocks, guys with muscular bodies and cute twinks. But, very few are breathtakingly beautiful. This guy was truly one of the most gorgeous men I have seen. Flawless body, 6’3”, with this flowing curly hair. He looks exactly like a young Justin Trudeau. I didn’t completely catch his name but he goes by “The Greek” in the sauna because of his features. Anyhow, we had perfectly nice sex (even with a rather average-sized cock for Lagoa) but it was really just an incredible experience to be held and kissed (I mean kissed very very well) and that alone was the highlight of my week. I think he stands out from the crowd, especially if you have tastes like mine. Anyhow, I probably sound like a gushing school girl. That is strange for me as I am usually more “transactional” about these things. But, I highly recommend if you visit Lagoa.

About 15 years ago young guys would gather near the main entrance after it closed, looking for customers. That's when you could also find at least a dozen more on Rama IV between Silom and Surawong. I often walk the park in the evening and it doesn't strike me as particularly cruisy. Lots of serious joggers and families. The men who use the outdoor weightlifting area aren't posing and preening like it was some kind of health club with the latest machines. They're pushing iron the old-fashioned way. Doesn't mean you still can't catch an eye. It is, after all, still part of the wonderful city of Bangkok.
