A point PeterRS discussed above. From Pattaya Mail Small print dooms Brits’ travel insurance in Thailand By Barry Kenyon This year looks like becoming a record-breaker for badly injured Brits who are stranded in Thailand and unable to pay their medical bills. Whilst the British foreign office and even the Tourist Association of Thailand thunder away at the importance of buying accident and illness cover, the reality is that most travel insurance is not designed to cover life-saving operations or expensive repatriation. Total bills are typically GBP 100,000 and much more if an air evacuation service is needed. The Association of British Insurers says that 17 percent of all overseas claims are rejected, mostly through lack of documentation, and adds that the average payout for successful claims is just over GBP 1,000. In other words, insurers are mainly paying out on small issues such as lost luggage or booking cancellations rather than medical emergencies. The award-winning blog Travelbunny stresses that most failures come down to the small print in the policies which is there to protect the funds of the insurance companies rather than you. A review of charity crowdfunding sites, notably GoFundMe, reveals that no fewer than 23 Brits (or their families) have appealed for cash in the past six months to pay for traumatic incidents in Thailand and/or to fund repatriation. Most cases involved traffic accidents, usually on motorbikes or mopeds, with falling from buildings and being mugged the runners-up. The amounts requested in public appeals ranged from GBP 25,000 to GBP 300,000 with the average income received being around 10 percent of the advertised target. At best, charity crowdfunding is a peripheral partner rather than a principal funder. The reasons for failed insurance policies are sometimes specified in crowdfunding entreaties. In 10 detailed traffic accidents, five injured Brits were refused cover because they were not wearing a crash helmet, two were relying on British driving licences (only international or Thai-issued are lawful here), two were participating in hazardous sports (elephant trekking and bungee jumping) and one had had been out of the UK for more than 30 days. Some reports were ambiguous, for example “Amex let me down” or “repatriation not allowed”. Not surprisingly, not a single GoFundMe appeal mentioned alcohol or narcotics as an insurance denial reason – even though most of the road accidents occurred late at night. Some Thai hospitals are reluctant to perform such as tests as they don’t want to ruin the chances of a successful insurance payout. However, insurers in a big claim will want clear evidence there was no alcohol or substance abuse. The warning clauses most used in the small print are “must take reasonable care” or “must observe national laws”. For example, it is technically compulsory in Thailand for back seat car passengers to wear safety belts which, of course, creates issues when they have not been fitted. nformal surveys in Thailand suggest that only about half of incoming tourists have any kind of insurance. Of those who do, most rely on travel insurance which may charge them five percent of the total holiday cost. Apart from being aware of the small print, the best advice is probably to stay away from renting a vehicle at all costs. If something nasty does occur, you can be assured your insurance company will leave no stone unturned. That’s guaranteed.3 points

I wonder if there’s any truth to that, or is it a type of superstition, just like straight Latinos believing that vasectomy causes impotence, or some sort of degradation of masculinity? If it is used properly as a ring (not too tight) for 30 minutes or less and with at least an hour between the uses, it should not cause any harm. Rings are used to help with ED, not cause it.3 points

Fly to Saigon. Open Blued on your phone. There are hundreds. Just sit and wait for the messages. The only problem is it drains your phone battery. 800k to 1mil VND. They wont be bar boys. Just local guys with day jobs topping up their income. Last April (the first week Vietnam opened it's bordered post covid) I had this construction worker turn up. He was in a bad way. 20 years old, but dirty. One of his flip flops was broken. His jeans were finished. Through Google Translate he told me he had been living on building sites for 18 months. We didn't do much, but I enjoyed his amazing physic. We went the the market after. Got him new gear. ($45 at most). He only asked my for 500k to meet. I gave him 2mil, and he cried. We are still talking now, and I can't wait to go back to Saigon! I'm not sure why you guys want to pay 5000 Baht for some Silom guy to give you the Starfish experience. Venture further and have some adventure.2 points -
Walked there at around 13:00, 12 mnts from my hotel at the other end of El Conde. Gglmps address and foto - accurate (door is blue rather than yellow). I think there r circa 6-7 rooms; place is VERY clean and neat. Juan speaks good+ English; I waived practicing my Spanish. He said he has a total of 14 guys, 6 present. They lined up for me, all self-jerking, 3 of them with their dicks on display. I assumed the others have less to show. Only 2 were to my liking, so I picked the one sporting a long dick - Zendoe. The rate is 3000, for "one hour, do everything". He might have overcharged me; I dont rmmbr seeing Juan's rates discussed here. We went to the room, stripped. I asked to start with a massage. Z went to bring lotion/oil, but came back empty handed. He started massaging my back regular amateur, while sitting on my lower legs. In 2 mnts I cld feel his dick harden, and after 2 more - he put my hand on it. We had a VERY satisfactory 45 mnts session; he did everything I wanted, incldng kissing, taking non-face fotos (c below) and climaxing 69. As we dressed he noticed that a lotion btl was actually in the room. )-: I tipped him 300.1 point

SCOTUS may have gotten in right in this instance
stevenkesslar reacted to unicorn for a topic
I haven't been agreeing much with the SCOTUS these days, but they may have gotten in right here: https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-transgender-sports-west-virginia-64d2fd48678afb1a62e5eb84d7762c31 "The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed a 12-year-old transgender girl in West Virginia to continue competing on her middle school’s girls sports teams while a lawsuit over a state ban continues. The justices refused to disturb an appeals court order that made it possible for the girl, Becky Pepper-Jackson, to continue playing on her school’s track and cross-country teams, where she regularly finishes near the back of the pack. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas would have allowed West Virginia to enforce its law against Pepper-Jackson. Pepper-Jackson is in the middle of the outdoor track season. She had filed a lawsuit challenging the law, the Save Women’s Sports Act, which West Virginia lawmakers adopted in 2021. A federal appeals court had allowed her to compete while she appealed a lower court ruling that upheld the West Virginia law..." I can't imagine why one would ban trans girls or women from competing in amateur sports. That would just be mean-spirited. Yes, there are certain sports (for example volleyball and swimming) for which trans women have an unfair advantage, so I can understand restrictions on levels where $$$ are involved (either the professional level or in the competition for college scholarships). A ban on the amateur level, however, doesn't serve any purpose, other than to be nasty.1 point -
Will US Justice Clarence Thomas Finally Get His Comeuppance?
Ruthrieston reacted to PeterRS for a topic
Those us who remember the Confirmation hearings during Clarence Thomas's bid to be appointed to the Supreme Court three decades ago will definitely recall that he never once answered Professor Anita Hill's testimony with its allegations of sexual impropriety in the worldplace. Remember the pubic hair on the Coca Cola can? Instead, the veins on his head bulging, he spent some considerable time haranguing the Judiciary Committee members about how this was yet another slur on black men and a means to stop their advancement. The Chairman - Joe Biden, remember? - never asked for his detailed answer to Anita Hill's specific allegations. Nor did he call the other women waiting outside the Committee Room to back up Professor Hill's comments. So Thomas sailed through. Since then he has been arguably the Court's most right wing member, yet has hardly made any publlic comments. Perhaps his best course given how believable the allegations against him were. Now we know that his wife was involved through encouraging emails and perhaps more to those who stormed the Capital to stop Joe Biden's election process. And today CNN reports that his ethics are as questionable as his sexual peccadillos. ProPublica reported yesterday that over his years on the bench he accepted many luxury trips arranged for and paid by GOP billionaire and mega-donor Harlan Crow. These included trips on private jets and super yachts to Indonesia and New Zealand and to several US states. Some sort of perks were provided by Crow virtually every year. Thomas and his wife paid for none of these and failed to disclose all but one on his public ethics filings. Crow claims these were merely gatherings with friends! Huh? Er . . . what happened here about legal ethics and conflicts of interest? Or is it just that Thomas conveniently forgot about these nice little presents just as he conveniently forgot about that small public hair on the Coke can? CNN dug up his interview in which he states he prefere to take vacations learning about the United States rather than going to places like Europe! Huh? The man is a disgrace! https://www.gayguides.com/forums/forum/5-the-beer-bar/?do=add1 point -
I have found many lads recently on the apps from Vietnam and not working in the bars. In a conversation with @paulsf he said he heard this is happening more often. I am glad for this. From The Nation Thailand’s heat index – a measure of temperature and humidity – will soar as high as 45.8 degrees Celsius (114.44 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday, according to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD). The department forecast the hottest areas in each region as follows: North: Tak province, heat index of 41C Northeast: Si Sa Ket, 38.4C Central: Bangkok’s Bang Na district, 45.5C East: Chonburi, 45.8C South: Phang Nga, 43.3C The heat index, also known as the “felt air temperature”, combines air temperature and humidity to measure how hot the weather actually feels to the human body. A 32-41C heat index triggers the “alert” level at which people working outdoors for extended periods can experience heat exhaustion resulting in nausea, headache, muscle ache, and dizziness. A 41-54C heat index triggers a “warning” level as people working outdoors can suffer heatstroke which comes with more severe symptoms than heat exhaustion.1 point

We'll be flying to Japan from LAX in October, and it looks like the fares are running $5000 for business and $1800 for Premium Economy. So I guess we'll just fly Premium Economy and take some sleeping pills with some sake or cognac, and hopefully that'll put us out even if we're not in a flat bed. I haven't purchased those tickets yet, but I did find a $3700 RT flight from LAX to Cairo on Qatar Airways, and I found that to be reasonable, so I snagged those tickets, even though the Cairo flights won't be until February. For your 7-hour trip, though, I personally would rather save the money and fly in PE. https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/travel/japan-airlines-premium-economy We're also going to Italy next month. On the way over, with a long overnight to Europe nonstop, we did spring for business class. On the way back, we're switching planes in Charlotte, so we got PE tickets for the return journey, on the waiting list for an upgrade with miles. Since I'm Executive Platinum with AA, I could also get upgraded for free from CLT to LAX. Although one doesn't get to lie flat, one also doesn't feel "squeezed in" for those PE seats, and they're pretty comfortable for a 7-hour flight. https://travelupdate.com/aa-good-premium-economy-dub-phl/1 point

From Bangkok Post Kasikornbank (KBank) has warned people to be cautious of links sent via text messages, or SMS, which encourage them to download additional applications or add Line accounts under the bank's name in an attempt to trick them into giving away information or access to their accounts. The accounts typically have heading about erroneous transactions with hyperlinks. ================== From The Nation Songkran revellers get an extra day to party this year The Digital Economy and Society Ministry confirmed that Monday, April 17, is an extra day added to the Songkran holidays that kick off next Thursday. The ministry said on Friday that its Anti-Fake News Centre has been receiving many inquiries about the additional holidays. It said April 17 has been announced as compensation for April 15, which is a Saturday. This extra day is based on a January 10 Cabinet resolution. This means the Songkran holidays this year will run from April 13 to 17. The centre added that the extra days off will allow people to travel up-country and boost tourism across the nation. The April 17 public holiday, however, does not apply to banks and financial institutions.1 point

Other people don't even need to fuck up when you are on a bike. They just need to act differently to what you are expecting. If you ride defensively, with full protection and using advanced rider practices, you are still left open to the unexpected. Something that would be a very minor shunt in a car due to its inherent stability can easily escalate into a fatal crash om a motorcycle or scooter. Given that nearly everyone in Thailand rides without protection, very aggressively and squeezing through the smallest gaps on all sides of vehicles often while texting their friends, it's a recipe for disaster.1 point

Around 2 months ago I started seeing weather people predicting an exceptionally hot summer. They turned out to be right, For those who are used to Fahrenheit temperature, 45.8°C = nearly 115°F. I don't plan to be out in it any more than I have to. For some strange reason I don't care to risk heat stroke. I'll be spending most of the day indoors with air conditioning. Fortunately the morning temperatures up to about 11:00am are no problem and evenings and night are also cool enough. But between around 11:00am until around 5:00pm, that's when the most severe temperatures occur.1 point

Egypt update
Marc in Calif reacted to gay_world_traveller for a topic
As a frequent traveller to Egypt (specifically: Cairo) I must say that I don’t recognise the transactional nature of a lot of the posts here. I never pay for sex; I do not approve of prostitution. If a guy is doing the deed with me, I want him to be doing so because he fancies me, not because of the contents of my wallet. I travel to Cairo frequently for business and pleasure, and I have made many friends there. Most of them I met through apps, specifically, Grindr and Growlr. You can spot the fakes and they’re easy to ignore, but I have met some genuinely nice guys who remain friends. Turning on Grindr in Cairo is very good for one’s ego, if I turn it on, within five minutes I will have 300 messages. I exaggerate not. A lot of them are openly “cash top”; welcome to my blocked.list is my standard reply. Cairo is a bottom’s paradise: tops are both plentiful and hung. it’s never been a problem entertaining in my hotel room. I have only once been approached by hotel staff as described in some of the posts, but I’ve never done anything with them. I have also been cruised in the streets, and riding the Metro in shorts on a crowded train was very much a mistake. I would say wearing shorts In Cairo is an easy way to get picked up, because no locals wear shorts, so it makes you stand out. I once had a couple of Saudi guys feel me up in a lift in the Intercontinental Hotel, when I was wearing shorts. I don’t think each knew what the other was doing. The hottest incident was being picked up by a policeman in uniform at the Marriot in Zamalek. He was middle-aged, I guess mid 40s, and was in uniform, and I think a senior officer given the pips on his epaulettes. He was sitting at a table adjacent to me. We started talking, and over time as we were chatting, I could see that he had an huge erection in his trousers. Eventually he asked if my room had a nice view of the Nile, which I replied it did, so he asked if you could see it, adding that he had never been in any of the rooms. Of course I took him up, and, well, you can fill in the blanks. It was wild.1 point -
I don't know about masseurs - I was in Egypt during covid. Looks like toilet adventures should really be avoided - on my trip, 2 out of 3 times the toilet story featured a police officer. But, you should pay attention to the cleaners of the hotel rooms - in my case, they showed their interest by bringing additional water on their own initiative (in any case, there is never a lot of water in Egypt). And also, on taxi drivers - a long trip with a young driver always leads to a conversation about sex (provided that you are interested in this topic). Once you blow the driver (in my case), the next day you will have 1 or 2 young taxi drivers waiting for you at the exit of the hotel, ready to take you on a long ride today or maybe tomorrow. You can look for entertainment at night on the beach, but I do not advise. At night, in the far corner of the beach at my hotel, local guys, including hotel workers, gathered and smoked hashish on sun loungers. Maybe the general wariness would not have allowed us to establish contact, but in my case I was already drinking beer on a sun lounger, and they had already filled their joint and darkness was the best friend of youth.1 point
